Terrible news

Wow, this is horrible news. My sympathies to Paty, Dave's son, and all his close friends. I never knew Dave personally, but I had a wonderful time creating davecockrum.net and revisiting all his terrific artwork and other creations. Dave was truly a man who affected others simply by force of his tre...

Happy birthday, and sympathies

Happy birthday, Dave, and deepest sympathies on the passing of your father. My dad died almost exactly a year ago, on November 30th. The pain of his loss never really goes away, it just fades a bit over time. I know that no matter what his age, it's always hard to lose a parent. I hope that you are ...

Dave on the X-men Again?

Dave, just get well. You've already created a tremendous legacy of great comics. Now worry about taking care of yourself.

Classic X-Men

Thanks for the information on Thunderbird. I've always wondered why the character was killed off so quickly. I notice that someone (Claremont? Liefeld?) brought in his brother in New Mutants. Along the same lines, when was the decision made to turn Jean Grey into Phoenix, and why was that made? Was ...

How's the art coming along on the cover and GSXM #3? I'm looking forward to both!

Classic X-Men

I picked up a stack of Classic X-Men issues the other day and found, to my surprise, that Dave had drawn some extra material in many issues. For instance, CXM #5 has three (at that time) new pages by Dave to do with his other, reprinted, work in those issues. I'm curious how those stories came about...

Have any of you had a chance to check out http://www.davecockrum.net? If so, what did you think? I'm anxious to add more content to the site; please let me know if you have any suggestions! And the Dave Cockrum bibliography might be the best on the web - I even found a list of all the letters he wro...

Uncanny Dave Cockrum Tribute

Dave, so sorry about you going back into the hospital. My wife, a dislysis nurse, says not to worry about the fistula. Now that the nurses will have an easy line to use, it should make the experience of dialysis much better. She also says to be nice to the nurses - they really like the nice people :D

Wizard Article (Ish #152)

"--and a little embarrassed by all the praise from friends and colleagues. " See, right there is why people love you so much. You go through hell, your friends rally around you, and you're embarassed that they heap praise on you. That is the mark of a truly modest and self-confident person...

Uncanny Dave Cockrum Tribute

Please remember that the most money will go to Dave and Paty if you order it directly from Aardwolf. Lots of info is here: http://www.davecockrum.net/benefitbk.htm

Last I spoke to Cliff, everything was done except for his piece!

New Cockrum site

Thanks for your feedback. Can someone offer some insight into the issue of posting art? I don't want to display art by Dave and/or Paty without their permission, but at the same time there is scads of art on the web that are not with the permission of the artist. What do you see the rules being if I...

New Cockrum site

Hi all, I'd like to announce that there will soon be a new site devoted to the work and career of Dave Cockrum, davecockrum.net. In its first blush I'm going to be concentrating mainly on uploading information on the Dave tribute book and benefit auctions; however, down the line I'd love for the sit...
