It's that day again!

Thanks, Jerry. Not only did my dad die on MY b irthday--his SECOND wife died on HIS birthday. I see an uncomfortable tendency here. :LOL

Hey, Tennessee's right next door! If you get that far, you definitely have to stop round here! We've got the room here and we'd be glad to have you!

Passing of Lt.Col. Emmett E. Cockrum USAF(Ret)

Again, thanks for all the good wishes and condolences, and especially from you, Jerry. We took the trek out to Illinois again for the funeral. Dad was put to rest at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, where Mom was buried some twenty-odd years ago. It was an especially moving ceremony with honor guard an...

The only comforting thing is that it wasn't a surprise. Dad had several life-threatening problems, and, realizing the end was approaching, he refused to take the meds and treatments that might have extended his life. He died quietly in his sleep in his own bed at home. Many thanks to all of you for ...

Passing of Lt.Col. Emmett E. Cockrum USAF(Ret)

FYI: My father--Emmett Erston Cockrum--died this morning at approximately 5am central standard time. He would've been 95 years old next February. He was a retired Lt.Col. in the U.S. Air Force and former history teacher, and at times he seemed larger than life. Life with him and my late mom was some...

SSorry, thhanks to many problems--finance, the need to carry oxygen supplies, and the need for dialysis three times a week--I can't travel to California. I can't go to any show more than two or three hours drive from Belton. And the sketch I did in Greenville was Wolverine and Colossus doing a 'fast...

I attended a local show a couple weeks ago, and did sketch for a guy. It toiok me most of the day and it was like pulling teeth. In the old days I'd've thrown it away, but the guy seemed happy enough with it.

I think that was a promotional piece. The issue number is #124, and I know the book never ran that many issues.

Well, I would've said comic book people in general are impervious to staying dead--with the exception of Bucky Barnes and Marvel's Captain Marvel--but Paty tells me that both of those two characters have returned also. Oh well, go figure. :LOL

Ok, I will. This happened many years ago. I had the assignment to draw the Marvel adaptation of Star Trek: the Motion Picture--the first Trek movie. Marv Wolfman had the writing chores. Marvel sent Marv and I and Len Wein out to Hollywood to Paramount Studios to (hopefully) see the rough cut of the ...

Before dealing with Phoenix, a comment on time travel stories: someone once pointed out that time travel stories couldn't change anything, because the change you make has already occurred in the present/future/whatever. I co-created Green Phoenix. John Byrne co-created Red Phoenix. No, I did not agr...

That Giant Size #3 cover was the last tthing I did for publication. I was supposed to do something with Joss Whedon, but I began having problems with my eyes and had to beg off. Yes, that's one of mine. No, I don't own the original, it was sold many years ago. I've done three or four recreations; most of them went for around $2,000.

First: Do NOT call me Davey. Second: It never occurred to me that he'd have occasion to need to shave. He obviously grows haiir on his head, and a nude Nightcrawler I did for Paty has pubic hair and chest hair. But facial hair? I don't know. I hated the goatee, though. :bamf [Edited on 18-10-2006 by...

Kurt's Fur

As I created him, Nightcrawler had blue skin covered with a fine, seal-like fur. He didn't shed--but he also didn't like to be wet. And it was Kitty Pryde who first started calling him 'Fuzzy Elf' because originally she was afraid of him and the nickname helped her get over her fear.

TYeah, we figured on unstable molecules. Tht's howcome Colossus' blue pants disappeared when he was armnored up.

I didn't think much of Angel. I'm a Hawkman fan. Nicest thing you can say about Angel is, he's pretty, and he flies.

Dhe does. How d'ya think I got to be so rotund? I had a sudden thought about unstable molecules. Reed Richards has had serious money problems over the years.
