Re: Restoration Teleportation

It's sad really. The whole X saga is about confronting hate, prejudice and the societal virus of bigotry; yet...the X books themselves have done so little in curing this ailment. When I think about the vanity and ill-wrought legacy, despite and maybe even because of the 'good' intentions that seek ...

Re: this coffee tastes like ass

Welp, the cortizone shots didn't work. The doctor and I decided to just kill the pain by going in and killing the nerves that have done nothing but scream at me for the past fifteen months or so. This of course meant multiple needles going deep into my back, finding the right nerves, and then burnin...

Re: Korean War vol. 2

There are actually quite a few comic book creators who drop by and have posted here now and then. And two 'Scrawlers (PirateKurt and I) were involved in a similar project, Untold Stories from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Re: Kurt & Cyclops (the last forgiveness)

I dunno guys... I just read the books and enjoy the stories being told to me by the people writing them. There are times when we, the fans, like to think we know the characters better and know their decisions better than the writers... But as Sungila sorta pointed out (unintentionally)-- we're not ...

Korean War vol. 2

A military history comic I insisted for years should be done is finally available. It was my honor to help write the stories of four veterans of the Korean War so we may remember what otherwise may truly become The Forgotten War.

Re: Kurt & Cyclops (the last forgiveness)

When it comes to Cyclops. (just this morning, I suffered through a giant rant from a Scott Summer's fanatic who shouted - if you can virtually shout - his tirade for six pages all in angry very Cyclops-ian confused manic-rage - at ME personally for suggesting - what's painfully obvious - that Scott...

Rachel's been teaching at the Jean Grey School and otherwise not being utilized to anything resembling her full potential. (The whole plot of Avengers vs. X-Men pretty much depended on nobody acknowledging Rachel's existence, for example, as people looked for someone who could train Hope on dealing ...

Re: UXM # 204 "What Happened to Nightcrawler"

It's not that nobody cares. It's that you can place the blame for Secret Wars and Uncanny 204 pretty squarely on editorial mandate. Basically, none of those were Claremont's idea, but he was left to deal with the fallout when he likely had other stories in mind that were derailed by these events.

Re: this coffee tastes astounding!

I was engaged... fifteen years ago, give or take. Congrats, everybody! Yesterday finally marked my triumphant return to the ski slopes over a year post car wreck. Those tears on my face after my first couple of runs weren't tears of pain, but of sheer joy! Then hubby took the kids and me out to see ...

If you're still worried about glass on your bed, perhaps wash your linens and flip your matress over.

Wish I could offer more help than a virtual long distance hug.

Re: this coffee tastes like ass

Thanks. With enough ibuprofen, I should be back at work tomorrow. It wasn't the shot so much as how deep I've had to be injected (right between the bones of the SI joint) that was the most nightmarish. I wasn't even sedated the first time. and the local anesthetic didn't work. This time, they doped ...

Chris had this to say when I mentioned how his runs in general and "God Loves, Man Kills" in particular were definitive of the X-Men. He said, "The problem with writing the definitive X-Men book is that it's a hard act to follow."

Re: this coffee tastes astounding!

One of the lovely things about having an emotional support trainee for a puppy is that I'm not the only one he helps. While Marshall (the dog) and I were at the store, we heard a thump followed by a toddler crying. Apparently the kid had given himself an owie as a result of typical toddler uncoordin...

Re: this coffee tastes like ass

No drama like death in the family drama. I'm so sorry. The puppy I found on my way home from work today was half-starved and was wandering down the middle of a rural road miles from anywhere with his head stuck in a cardboard box. Everybody I talked to at the nearest bit of civilization is convinced...

Mazel Tov! Well, the cats aren't impressed with the poor, half starved creature I found wandering in the middle of nowhere and brought home today, but my aging, blind dog Tsingdao is thrilled that there's now a puppy in the house to play and learn stuff from her. She already taught the puppy how to ...

Re: Untold Stories from Iraq and Afghanistan

Wtih only a few days left in the Korean War Kickstarter campaign, I feel a bit like laying it all out what this project means to me. Ever since I started work on Untold Stories from Iraq and Afghanistan, I was concerned that the stories of our older veterans, especially the oft-overlooked veterans o...

Normally, my Veterans' Day weekend is jam-packed with events. But a reaction to the cortizone shot I had on Thursday put me in the emergency room on Friday, and instead of doing cool things, I'm sitting at home feeling sick as a dog.
