It's not exactly like goodbye...
I kind of felt that this would happen come September. Vet school takes up something like 123% of one's time. BUt it'll be good to see you when you can occasionally drop by, and we'll all (hopefully) still be here come winter break.

Yeah, I know: I shouldn't be too surprised. Now that Marvel's "retirement" of Kurt seems imminent, the slow-creeping idiocy of X3 post-production and Kurt's inexplicable removal from the movieverse makes all too much sense....

I guess what bothers me is the way history is being repeated. And not a "good" repeat, either. One of those "we didn't learn our lesson the last twenty times so we have to screw up again" repeats. The first X movie was surely greenlighted because the execs saw the potential for m...

W00t! :D I just got mine in the mail yesterday! My, what a BIG, BIG box it was, filled with styrofoam peanuts (which hubby and I colloquially refer to as "unicorn shit"). Then we got to the REAL box inside, which further was filled with hard styrofoam.... Let's just say that this statue c...

Probably because the European languages are a LOT closer together than anything east of the Ukraine. Any of our sentence structure rules go completely out the window when you get to Japanese, Madarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese, or any other "eastern" language. Translating back and forth is tor...

:*D BWAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! [/i] Thank you, Nacht! I'd been told about this before, and I'd been wanting to see it for weeks! I had already heard the bit where they translated "Jedi Council" as "Presbyterians"... Now we know the awful truth about this mysterious denomination! :toothy

Comic Book Readers without the Y Chromosome
There's not much of a choice here anymore. At one time we had six comic stores in the Hayward/San Leandro area. But over the last few years, with the collapse of the comics industry, and then the collapse of the CCG industry, they've been slipping away, one by one. Just like the old-fashioned gaming...

My first computer, for my very very own, was a 386 WinTel clone, bought for me when I was in college (1989 or so), with a B+W 13" monitor. Though I was using the Macs in the college labs, I was getting mighty tired of the business lab computers having viruses on them that screwed up all my work...

Michael Savage (of "Savage Nation") has kind of a love-hate relationship with the Bay Area. He's constantly slinging right-wing flame of one kind or another, generating controversy that in turn generates sales for your average radio station. But, invariably, after a year or two, Mikey over...

Nightscrawlers' Response to Marvel
I did something that might get me in a little hot water, but, hey, controversy is good for the soul sometimes. When I finished up Sinister Designs on FF.Net, I gave a quick spiel about goings on in front of the story, about a couple paragraphs worth of text. I figure that if people enjoy my stuff on...

It's been a long time getting this done, and I appreciate everyone for putting up with this quirky schedule. :) Sinister Designs: Epilogue As difficult as that night had been, the coming day wasn't much better. The NSA came down literally fifteen minutes after Xavier spoke with Ororo. Not the FBI, n...

Over the past week I've spent away from the board, I found out that the poor brazillian guy who was shot had been living in Britian for several years, which meant he should have known better than to bolt as he did... Had me wondering for the longest time just why he ran and made himself look guilty....

I'm kinda with Bamfette: I have a collection of dragons. .... well.... maybe collection isn't strong enough of a word.... My friends told me long ago that I crossed the border from "collection" into "shrine". My dragons are literally all over the house, lining an entire wall of s...

BF, I hope that everything went well for you yesterday. By now, I also hope you're sitting on a beach somewhere, sipping a mai-tai with your new hubbie. After all the excitement (and just plain stress) of a wedding, a honeymoon is pretty much MANDATORY, IMHO.

:shame *sigh* Well, it's official; on RottenTomatoes.com, Fantastic Four has a 21% approval rating. That's pretty damn damning. Apparently, they got this sucker so wrong that critics and bloggers are thumbing their noses en-masse. (And given all the behind the scenes crap that's been going on with X...

They kind of screw you with specialized plates in Europe. In California, mine ran me about twice as much as normal. (You're getting a good deal, there, Slarti!) For my motorcycle plate, I had a hard time trying to find some way to say "dragon", as most of the versions of it were taken. Fin...

Oh, yes, they put you in jail... for a very, very long time.... Note that these bomb threats happened before 9/11, and the FBI would still grab your happy little ass, lock it in a room, and "misplace" the key for several months while they interrogated the hell out of you, just to make sure...
