This is revolting
First: No, that's not acceptable. 9/11 is not something to celebrate. However, there are a couple things that lead to this sort of thing that are, admittedly, a little hard to understand, especially when you were personally impacted, either by living in or near New York, or knowing someone directly ...

The last bits of the yellow teams have been revealed: http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d30/cstuck/thumbnail1.jpg Bigger I'm happy to see that the cast of X-Factor seems to have not been torn apart, with just a few additions. It appears that Peter David completely got his way in that regard. I'm goi...

That's awesome, Draz! I thought it filled in enough blanks for you to know what was going on without having ever read it before, but it's hard to tell if that sort of thing is true when you have read it before.

The New 52: Men of War
Until we started talking about it last night, I had just assumed the red streak was Superman. Then you pointed out...no cape. While I assumed the red streak was Superman, my theory was Bizarro as the purple streak. But not I'm not nearly as sure, and given the fact that I assumed it was Supes, even ...

The Great 2011 DC Relaunch - 52 New #1's in September
Quick reviews for the first week in order of preference (minus two titles I couldn't read...yet): 1. Swamp Thing - Get it. Scott Snyder is awesome. Even if you don't care about Swampy (I don't), it's worth picking up. 2. Men of War - Get it. My second favorite of the week. Beautifully written, very ...

I also had very low hopes for this one. I love me some Judd Winick, and I love me some Batman, Inc., but the idea, essentially African Batman, just didn't appeal to me. I was wrong. The main character is fairly well developed, enough to get you invested, even if you've never seen him before. But wha...

I was sure I wasn't going to like this one. I'm not much for war movies or tv shows and really doubted that I'd like a war comic. Boy was I wrong. Not only did Men of War surpass my expectations by leaps and bounds, it may be the second best book this week. I know I said Batgirl was second earlier i...

The New 52: Batgirl
This was my second favorite book of the day, and easily my top non-Scott Snyder book this month. Barbara's / Batgirl's voice is clearly defined and excellently presented through a combination of dialogue and captions. You get a real sense of her as a character and of her history, both as a costumed ...

There's only one page that's questionable at all. And, like Bamfette said, it's clearly marked on the cover as being rated T for Teen, just like a video game. It's not aimed at kids, so it being inappropriate for kids is moot.

I can say this with complete confidence and sincerity: If someone, kid or not, can handle watching Nolan's The Dark Knight (and I think that there's a TON of kids that have seen that), then they can handle this book.

The New 52: Animal Man
I loved the little things in Animal Man. He needs to sleep, so he grabs the nap powers of a cat. He needs to not make the boards creak, so he grabs the weight of a bumblebee. That really grounded Buddy as a real person, IMO, as that's what we'd all mostly be using them for if we had his powers. Real...

This comic, the brand new introduction to a brand new Superman in a brand new timeline succeeds in establishing everything, right off the bat. Within this first issue, you get a clear idea of Superman's powers and limitations, his attitude, his alter-ego, Clark's job and status, Lois's personality, ...

Holy crap. If you read only ONE DC book during this relaunch, make it this one. I don't care about Swamp Thing. I enjoyed Alan Moore's run, but I've never really cared about the character. That doesn't matter, because this book is just so darned good. Snyder also managed his mid-page jump panel agai...

I agree. There were moments of real brilliance in there, like the Midnighter bit. I'm hoping that, as the series gets going and Cornell worries less and less about people knowing who the characters are and what they can do, the writing will get less stilted and the story will really get rolling. The...

Written by Dan Jurgens Illustrated by Aaron Lopresti I like Lopresti's style. I like the core idea behind the book - the UN putting together a super team with a name similar to a famous but independent one, with the slightly ominous goal of controlling a super team. I like that Booster Gold is aroun...

Quite a few of the New 52 are being written AND drawn by people who are traditionally artists only. Detective Comics is the first of those to hit the shelf, written and drawn by Tony S. Daniel. Now, of course, you know that I'm obsessed with comic book writing, and some of my favorite books (Gaiman'...

Here's Paul Cornell talking about Stormwatch: Get More: Geek: Event Coverage, MTV Games The Projectionist sounds awesome, to me. Control of the media isn't quite controlling people, since it's not 100%. I mean, people don't fully trust and agree with the media. However, were we to find out that, in ...

the hat says dockworker, the jacket says starbucks. The earrings and goatee say pirate and the fingerless gloves say homeless and the scrunchies say LOOK AT ME I'VE GOT A TAIL. If we're the four horsemen, I call Death or War. The others are icky. Earlier today, I realized why I like Fantomex, aside from Remender's writing. I was watching Ocean's Twelve / Ocean's Thirteen and noticed that, in my head, I've cast Vincent Cassel as Fantomex. Smug, French, lithe, graceful, alwa...

Wow. Kurt really does look like Balfour in that picture and Balfour really looks like the troll face, too. But, somehow, Modern Bohemian Nightcrawler (that's what the action figure would be called. Like Fry Cook Batman or Mountain Climber Spider-Man) doesn't look like the troll face. As long as Nigh...

Also, Nighty's character design for the game since you were wondering about his tail sock. :) http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_llp3opNPLg1qgb1o5o1_500.jpg I personally really like that design. Digital Comics -- Can They Make The Leap?
While I don't condone piracy, I'd like to point out to all those watching that the pirate downloads of comics are NOT pirate versions of digital comics. They're pirated print comics. Since I know one of the arguments against digital comics is the ease of piracy, this is important to not. Digital com...

I think it's pretty clear Steven Moffat had intended River to be who she is from the get go. Her introduction set up her history and you knew we were going to learn it sooner or later. The twist we got was pretty great, to be honest.
I've always had a sweet spot for Rose. She was a great companion.

I tend to agree...with both of you. Are the numbers on the #1's inflated? Probably. Even if they sell out, will there be a drop? Almost definitely. However, starting from 300k on the #1 is much better than starting at, say, 50k. Even if Justice League drops 66%, an unheard of drop, and exceptionally...
