Nightcrawler Returns -- More Or Less
“I cannot stop you, but I can..and will..make you aware of what you do, and of how serious it is. The taking of a life…ANY life, no matter how justified..is not a casual thing. It should never be treated lightly.â€

Nightcrawler Returns -- More Or Less
Kurt's preaching at Logan bugged me a little, too. The issue was nice, but that aspect didn't feel terribly authentic. Rarely was Kurt shown as that evangelistic in the past, especially with Wolverine. It also bugged me because Kurt's German. While I haven't lived in Germany all that long, I have ye...

Kurt as Swordsman
Another particularly sword-centric story is X-Calibre: The Infernal Gallop, Burn, Body Heat, and On Fire. This story takes place in a dark alternate universe in which Kurt Darkholme was raised by Mystique. He not only uses his swords, in "Body Heat" he actually teleports a nasty bad guy's...

You would be right. But that's because a lot of the "editors" actully have limited writing/storytelling experience and no experience with copy editing or art direction. Or they honestly believe that comic books are not worthy of good, polished stories. I don't care to recall how many time...

It seems Disney stays out of the way when it comes to comics and largely lets the Marvel kids play in their sandbox unfettered. At least, that's what I've heard. For that, I won't lay the blame at Mickey's feet. After all, the current comic trends were all well in place long before Disney bought Mar...

I suspect she meant the evil organization in the MU. ;) Regarding the slow death of comics, I suspect part of it's because comics don't seem to be as fun as they once were. With as little engagement as I often feel when reading certain books, I can understand how a new reader might have a hard time ...

X-Men: 2nd Coming (SAY WHAAAA)
SPOILERINESS!!! He time jumped one last time to get X-force home and that let the virus loose that killed him. I'm a detail junkie: He used the last time jump to get them into the future. He purposely let loose the virus to be able to hold open the flesh-searing time portal so the others could go th...

I was kind of considering any mention of the Brimstone dimension and Azazel as acknowledgment of the Draco. I'd rather pretend it was a bad shared dream brought on by food poisoning.

How should nightcrawler return?
While in that glorious state of half-sleep before totally waking, I had a fantastically bad idea (in that it acknowledges the Draco arc) for bringing Kurt back. Due to all the rushing and lack of medical examination, Kurt was still alive when stuffed into the coffin. When it was stuck up on the fune...

Oddly, it has been corrupted over the last hundred years or so to sound more like "Yaw" or "Yow". That might depend on where you are. In my region of Germany, it sounds like "yah." The fun one is the shortening of nein to neh . I, on the other hand, am prone to draggin...

Maybe the creative staff was feeling all guilty and ended up thinking of Kurt while writing his buddy and totally failed to catch the misspelling because it was a subconscious act?

Since "ja" doesn't sound wholly dissimilar from "yeah," I can see a German native retaining his usage of that word. Of course, that doesn't excuse the frequent misspelling of the word as "jah" or "yah." That and "was" often being spelled "vas&qu...

You been reading Second Coming? :smirk You should pick up "X-Men" now I have and have read all of the above. Thus far, I'm unsurprised with the reveal on Hope in Chapter 13. While she didn't pick up appearances, she did manifest the powers of others. I'm guessing she either functions some...

I vote for the last one.Angelique wrote:Speculation on one panel: either Colossus has picked up a new favorite language, Nightcrawler, in his last gasp, manifested a new power, or editors didn't notice that "Da" was misspelled "Ja."
That page of Hope with the arm is rather touching.

Well, Morrison had already killed off half the mutant population boom he created by nuking Genosha. There were 32 million mutants before that happened. :X Anyhoo, I don't really think cutting the population was the best way to go. I think it would have been more effective to actually depict the popu...

His dream of coexistence, silly. :P Bad storytelling is just, well, bad. What I don't get is the notion that some level of progress in comics is a bad thing. It opens the door for more stories and a fresh take. Forcing the status quo into stasis results in stale, recycled stories. Where's the fun in...

What Angelique said. Additionally, the growing mutant population gave credibility to Xavier's Dream. While 16 million is a mere drop in the bucket of a population of 6 billion, mutants were a minority that stood out because of their powers. The continued growing of their small population showed that...

@Ult_Sm86 1. Show me where I said JQ is a bad editor or indicated that I have something against the man as a person. 2. The quote supported what I said about the result (the lowering of the mutant population) coming from JQ while others were left to sort out the details of how to achieve that result...

From the mouth of the man himself (all emphasis mine): [quote]Kiel Phegley: Smokey17 asked after the same scene from a different angle: "Awhile back you said you had two genies to put back in the bottle. One was the marriage and didn't specify what the second one was. Can you give us a little h...

It may be more complicated, but he's the one who wanted to "put the genie back in the bottle." Those were his words. Until evidence is provided to the contrary, it's not unreasonable to conclude that dramatically lowering the mutant population was Quesada's idea. How it was to be done may ...

Now, I could go for that possibility, Blob. It'd be a retcon, but it'd be a sensible retcon. Alas, I have a hard time imagining Quesada allowing that to happen.

You wouldn't be upset if they didn't resolve this? You said yourself, they put themselves "in a corner" and have made it so they "Have to use a D.E.M." so why is it so bad that they do as good a "D.E.M." as possible? Which I still don't think is totally what's going on...

How upset will you be then, if they don't use a D.E.M.? I won't be. It'll make me happy if they come to an actual resolution without one. Jubilee will be returning to the X-titles soon, and it appears she will be turned into a vampire. I'm having a really hard time getting excited about the vampire...

I'm not impressed per say, but I'm intrigued at the twists and turns it has taken. And I really want to see what rabbit they pull out of their hats, being they'd be stupid to do something predictable. Which,... ou seem bent on assuming they are going to. The DEM is what's predictable. What it is do...
