Hunting Grounds

<Kyle> Kyle stopped, crouching down at the opening of the alley. Crouching down he peered around the corner to look down both sides of the street. There was a patrol, and they were busy talking to each other, standing around, with guns. Probably mutants that didn't have much of a power and just sided with the bigger team to be on the safe side. He looked back in search for Hepz.

<Hepz> Silently, the cat lept from the roof top down to the fire escape, then eventually to the ground. She sidled up close. She held up one finger. Only one patrol on this street.

<Kyle> Kyle nodded, then peered around the corner again. He squinted and gave a soft growl when he saw the patrol of three started walking their way. Looking back at Hepz he signaled the patrol was coming, stared at Hepz, then licked her nose, grinning and leaped up the wall and fire escape to get up the building.

<Hepz> With a savage grin of her own, she wiped her nose and sprang up three stories in one bound. Her once soft and nearly useless nails had hardened into strong and leathal claws. She easily dug into the brick and morter of the building and propelled herself up the side, reaching the top at the same time Kyle did.

<Kyle> Crawling up to the side of the building where it faced the intersection on the street, he looked back at Hepz. She was starting to get really faster than him lately. At least he could pick up a car. A small car. He realized his attention was somewhere it shouldn't be and turned back to watch the intersection, nudging Hepz and nodding to another incoming patrol.

<Hepz> She nodded in understanding. Her tail swished behind her as she watched their potential prey. Hepz gave Kyle a sidelong glance. She'd have died a long time ago without his protection and training. Pulling herself back to the present, she counted the number of those on patrol. They were up to nine all together.

<Kyle> After a while of staring Kyle was getting bored. They were supposed to scout and see the pattern of the patrols, but it seemed like their pattern involved standing idly by and chatting. Kyle felt Hepz's tail touch his leg and he raised an eyebrow and grinned, turning his head to look over at her.

<Hepz> "I think they get paid too much." Hepzibah whispered, watching the patrol milling about belong them. "Wonder if they got good death benefits?" She grinned back, her pronounced canines gleaming as she stared at him.

<Kyle> He grinned back, his own sharp teeth showing, "Think we gonna be here for a while. Wanna do something while we wait for them to walk?" he whispered and shifted a bit closer to her.

<Hepz> "With you? Always, Fido." It was a dangerous game to play in enemy territory. She closed the space between them and ran and hand over his shoulder and up his neck.

<Kyle> Kyle just kept on grinning until the space between their faces completely closed up and they kissed. Breaking the kiss and cuddling his face against the side of her head, and said, "Smell so nice."

<Hepz> She smiled through the kiss. There was so very few reasons for her to smile anymore. She laced her hand into his hair as he nuzzled the side of her head. She had gained a lot of control over her pheromones, but he still knew how to set them off. She hoped they were far enough away from the patrol. She growled softly.

<Kyle> Kyle's hand slipped around her waist. Ugh, if lots of clothes weren't bad enough, now having so many pouches was just a pain. Not that he minded the ones that held food. Those he liked.

<Hepz> The slightest sound caught Hepz's ears as Kyle pulled her even closer. "Kyle..." she tried to get his attention; something was beginning to make her fur stand up. Like, they were being watched even though she couldn't smell or see anyone.

<Kyle> Kyle gave a tiny bit of a growl in his throat while he was kissing at her neck. He pulled back looking around, squinting at the shadows, sniffing the air. Normally he would just get back to the matter at hand, but Hepz tended to be right, even though he couldn't see anyone nearby.

<Toxin> "Hrrrssssssss..... What're you two doing?" Growled a voice from the shadows. "You ask us to trust you... and yet here we find you...." Toxin crawled from his darkened corner, his lip curled and sharpish teeth glittering in the moonlight. "The resistance cannot tolerate such procrastination!"

<Kyle> Kyle was about to get back to business when that voice started talking. Always made his skin crawl. Kyle much preferred the days when Ben was ben and the photography teacher was a black blob. "Not procrastinating. Waiting. And shh. They'll hear you."

<Hepz> Hissing, Hepzibah separated from Kyle and took a fighting stance, crouched low next to her partner. "We've not let you down yet. You just keep to your job." She disliked him on every possible level, but this war was making monsters out of all of them.

<Toxin> With a snarl, Toxin slinked over to the edge of the roof and looked down. Back stepping to the side of his comrades he looked to them with his featureless white eyes devoid of any emotion. "You do realize that we have yet to hear back from our informant.... If you two allow this to get compromised... We will have to clean up the mess...."

<Kyle> Kyle gave a sigh and if he was the type to roll his eyes, he would. "How can we compromise it? We just sit and watch." he peered over the edge and sank back, satisfied that they didn't miss a thing. Patrols still talking, still not patrolling.

<Hepz> "I still say they get paid too much." She spared a look at the lazy patrol, then slinked away, checking the other three alleyways and street beneath them. "When were we supposed to hear from this informant of your anyways?"

<Toxin> "Provided he isn't dead yet... with in the next two days." Toxin ran his claws against the roof as he spoke, enjoying the sensation. It was always the little things these days... He turned to Kyle and smiled, which was more frightening than it was a good thing. "Do we know if they are in direct contact with the enemy?"

<Toxin> "I think playing may be in order..." He said, as he looked to the patrolmen, drooling.

<Kyle> Scratching his forehead with his pinky, Kyle shrugged, "Doesn't look like it. Two patrols down there, the one we followed seemed to be cut off, think the second group is maybe, um, maybe their link to their command." And here Kyle thought watching people wouldn't compromise stuff.

<Hepz> "Why?" Hepzibah settled into a crouch next to them. She watched him drooling and a wicked smile crossed her lips. "Playing? I love to play. What game?" Her claws unsheathed a little in anticipation.

<Toxin> "We wants to play a game of tag..." Toxin's long tongue came out and flickered in the hot summer air. "And we thinks it might send the right message to Apocalypse...”

<Kyle> "What about that thing about compromising stuff?" he asked, sitting straight up. "Thought we should have just watched."

<Toxin> "You did a better job watching each other..." Toxin snarled. "Besides... we haven't feasted in a while..." He clambered down the wall and hissed into the darkness. Slithering to the tree line and leaping in the branches, Toxin finally had the patrolmen startled enough and looking around in every direction... except at each other. "Hruar!" He leapt from the branch and tackled two of the guards, smashing ones head into the ground.

<Hepz> Hepzibah needed no other encouragement as she leapt from the building, five floors at at time. The last drop landed her directly in front of a disbelieving guard. That was the expression he died with as she slashed his throat open. The smell of blood consumed her and she spun to find her next prey.

<Toxin> Toxin ripped the torso of one of the guards as he used his tongue to wrap around his face and stop his screaming. Then, with a fierce roar, he leapt to his other fallen enemy and landed on his chest, cracking his ribs. Digging his claws into the man's head, he twisted it as the man screamed for his life.

<Toxin> It was at that moment a force beam, from one of the soldiers eyes, shot Toxin in the back, sending him flying into a tree, which snapped in half at impact.

<Kyle> Kyle just peered down at the fighting from the roof top. Was more carnage than fighting. He smirked when he saw Toxin being shot back, but the smirk disappeared when the same mutant that shot Toxin was looking at Hepz.

<Kyle> Without thinking he lunged off the side of the building, bounding recklessly and fast off of the walls and ledges straight at the mutant, using him to break his fall. The something important snapped in the mutant's body, and the mutant ended up just lying on the ground. Kyle quickly got up before someone shot at him.

<Hepzibah> Hepzibah spun around at the sound of crunching bones, claws poised to strike. She found Kyle bounding off the fallen body. Grinning like this was some big game, she winked at him and lept onto a guard whose reflexes were much slower than hers. His neck snapped deliciously and the cat was on to her next victim before he even hit the ground.

<Toxin> Roaring from the bushes Toxin lashed out, wrapping his coils around the mouths of two guards, suffocating them. He took large chunks from the shoulders of the guard on his right with his fangs and threw the one on his left at Kyle.

<Kyle> Kyle lunged at the guard coming straight at him, bringing down to the ground, arm, coming around and pulling his head back as he bit the guy's throat, crushing and ripping his windpipe. There was a shot, and a pain in his back. Twisting around he went for the idiot who shot him.

<Hepzibah> The sound of a gun shot only infuriated Hepzibah more as she saw the intended victim. Sinking her canines deep into her current casualty's throat, she took out her anger on him as Kyle dealt his own retribution to the shooter. Meanwhile, a passing glance at Tox told her that was having more fun than her if it was possible.

<Toxin> Toxin wrapped his tentacles around the motorbike and smashed it into the jeep, blowing them both up. He cackled as the fire flickered behind him. "Fools! We will take back this world and feast on your brains!"

<Kyle> The idiot who shot Kyle died almost instantly, probably due to his claws sticking into the person's sides, puncturing whatever organs inside. He let the body drop to the ground. Looking around there were two left. One was forming a fireball in his hands. Kyle went for the other.

<Toxin> Toxin looked up and saw Hepzibah, engorging herself happily. He would have smiled had someone with a very large gun not been approaching her. "Ssskkrrrruuaaarh!" He leapt into the air, clearing the distance, and shoved the man down to the grass. In one claw, his face was ripped open while he screamed. "Hrrssssss!" He tore the man's throat next, killing him. "Done!" He yelled.

<Hepzibah> As Toxin hurled past Hepzibah towards her attacker, she was launching herself at the last mutant she saw standing, threatening Kyle. The fireball intended for him died in a flicker as her talons ripped his abdomen open. As soon as he fell to the ground, she finished him off. She growled at the dead body, looking at Kyle.

<Kyle> The guy Kyle was busy with wouldn't die. He kept stabbing Kyle with needles and spikes coming out of his fingers, breaking them off and new ones grew in their place, finding a new home in Kyle's body. He stopped moving when Kyle lifted his head from his throat, maw stained red with blood. He turned to make sure no one else was left, and then just grinned stupidly at Hepz.

<Hepzibah> Loping over to his side, Hepz pulled a spike out of Kyle's chest grinning back at him. Her own white fur was stained red over much of her body. She looked up at Toxin and gave a nod of appreciation. They were now alone on the quiet street.

<Toxin> "We finished... there will be no report tonight from here... that will bode as poorly as them having seen us and survived. We should move closer to the city by the end of tomorrow... there is an abandoned fire station..."

<Hepzibah> "New hide out?" Hepz nodded with a slight wince. Putting her hand to her side, she was almost surprised that some of the blood on her was her own. "Anna there?"

<Toxin> "She will be..." Toxin replied. "We all should be."

<Kyle> Kyle stood up over the dead body, half tripping over it as he turned to look at Toxin, then looking down at Hepz's wound and asking, "Want me to carry you?"

<Hepzibah> She gave a doubtful stare as Kyle stumbled. Still she managed a smile instead of hissing at the pain. "I got here on my own two feet. I'll leave the same way." Still, she leaned on him a little more heavily than she would have liked. "Don't suppose we could drive?"

<Toxin> Toxin looked around the area and frowned at the vehicles he had blown up. "... There's a van behind the house. We can drive, but it may run out of fuel." He looked to them and sighed, except it came out mostly as a hiss.

<Hepzibah> She imagined she heard a distinct sound of disapproval in his alien voice. Pulling herself up, she shook her head. "Never mind, it's just a scrape. I'm fine. Lets go." Soon there would be more patrols, more guards.

<Kyle> Kyle squinted at Toxin and then at Hepz, a small growl escaping his throat, but still held on to Hepz. If she even flinched in pain while walking he's picking her up and carrying her.

<Toxin> Ben grunted in disgust and yanked his way over the roof and to the van In only a few moments he drove the van through the trees and yanked the wheel hard to the right as the automobile swerved and fishtailed to a stop. "Get in or walk!" They hissed, their voices strangely separate... yet together.

<Kyle> Kyle smirked. Toxin might be a pain, but he did do nice things when push came to shove. Kyle opened the door for Hepz and helped her in, getting in next to her and closing the door behind him.

<Hepzibah> Hepz was all set to refuse the ride when Kyle put her inside the van. As she sat down, gripping her side, her common sense won out over her pride for once. She kept her eyes on the floor as she laid her head against Kyle's shoulder. "Thanks." She whispered begrudgingly to their driver.

<Toxin> "Thank us when we get there alive..." And with pedal to the metal, the van took off, rumbling and bumping over the dead carcasses they left in their wake. "Hrruaaahahahahaahaar! Apocalypse, here we come!"

Memory Box

Post by Svartfreja » Tue May 12, 2009 7:48 am

Anna sat crosslegged inside a large box. Box forts felt safe. Not so big as the outside. She'd drawn a sheet over the 'entrance' and had surrounded herself with familiar things. She turned up the light on her lamp and picked up her little tin. She was glad they'd managed to find some paints on their shopping trip. Alex was good at finding things and he had way more patience than Andy for her distracted thought processes.

Anna carefully laid out the little paper people on the lid of her box, and began to touch up the paint. It wasn't fair that she'd had to leave so many things behind. A lot of things weren't fair these days. She sighed and blew gentley to make the paint dry faster. She looked over at her phone, her mouth twitching in a smile at the memories it held. But she wouldn't watch that video. Not yet.

When the paint dried she moved the paper figures back to their spot next to her phone and opened the tin. She had a new addition to make.

Carefully as she could she painted a face on a peanut and coloured it blue, black and white for Alex and Neena's unborn child. Everyone she'd known and lost was in that box.

Deadpool: Deadpool, Pestilence extraodinaire, self named mayor of new york, king of the eastcoast hill, and he still couldn't find a good channel on tv at three am in the morning. Then again, there weren't any actual good shows on tv for a while since the whole taking over of america started. Except for M-TV, somehow that still played. He had that on a channel block.

SaintAnna: Anna knew she was going to be in big trouble if Ben and the blob found out where she was. But she knew if she didn't try she'd never forgive herself and there wouldn't be time later. She'd taken her tin with her (which had proved to be more than a little problematic) and was drifting along a hallway towards a door.

SaintAnna: Three O'Clock in the morning was a good time. Most people were sleeping. She reached the door and stopped. Knock or just go in? If she knocked she could bring her tin. She reformed and knocked then turned back into vapour.

Deadpool: Deadpool looked around, turned the volume to mute, and waited. He could have sworn he heard a knock. One of the models probably fell out of the bed back in the bedroom. Doesn't matter how large that kingsize was, it still wasn't big enough for three girls and a guy. Well, not enough if you want a good night's sleep. Good thing he hasn't slept for a while, else he would be heavily upset.

SaintAnna: Anna would have frowned if she'd had a body. The tv noise had stopped so he must have heard something. She reformed again to turn the doorknob, letting it open a little way before she returned to her vapor form and dragged her tin in behind her - it hovered a little way above the ground. She pushed the door closed with her teke.

Deadpool: Deadpool, in his black with yellow smiley faces boxers, went into a sudden karate stance holding his hands up, "Who dere?!"

SaintAnna: She set the tin on the floor beneath where she hung in the air, she giggled,

Deadpool: "Of course I know your voice banAnna, was just kidding." Deadpool said, stepping closer to where he heard a sound and then looked down at a tin. "You look different. New haircut? Flat top never looked good on me."

SaintAnna: Anna giggled again, She swirled her vapor form around him,

Deadpool: Wade took a long hard thought about what she said for a whole second. "I can take my boxers off then we'll be even?" he suggested.

SaintAnna: Anna laughed, She moved back a little, pulling herself into a solid form a couple of feet away, folding her arms across her chest and standing side-on to him out of selfconsciousness.

Deadpool: Deadpool cocked his head with a smile, "Sigh..." he sighed. Dude....hot babes falling out of nowhere. We really did choose the right side. Thumbs up! "Hang on banAnna," Deadpool turned and went around a corner, coming back with one of the model's puffy pink negligee. "Straight from Victoria's Secret," he held it out for her.

SaintAnna: Anna wrinkled her nose, "Ew... pink... thought you had better taste." She took the negligee anyway and put it on. Better than nothing. "So... um... how are you?"

Deadpool: "Well, there's a red one and a black one, but the black one is kind of like a frame for certain key spots, and it'll take a bit of a struggle to get to the red one, and I'm not really in the mood to wake up the girls, models can really whine. Oh wait, you asked me something. Well, as you may see, I'm doing quite well for myself, how do you like the pad?"

SaintAnna: "It's er.... nice..." Anna looked around, "And girls? How many do you have in there?" she shook her head and tutted. She bent and picked up her tin.

Deadpool: "Oh one, maybe two....okay you dragged it out of me, three! Hee hee hee! February, April and October on FHM's magazine. Had to smuggle them in from UK though, hard to find models in old US of A that doesn't have horns and extra eyes. Don't tell Poccy, but since he came around, the standard in beauty magazines really dropped."

SaintAnna: Anna raised her eyebrows, "Wow... Er... I don't think you have to worry about me telling the bossman.... as long as you don't tell him you've seen me. I'm playing hide and seek. I'm winning - want to keep it that way." She smiled.

Deadpool: "Oh pshaw!" Deadpool pshawed, "No chances that you're really here, I'm probably dreaming this, or hallucinating...hmm, I should find Wraith, ask him some more of that stuff of his. Where was I again? Oh yeah, what's with the tin?"

SaintAnna: "I am really here, Wade." She sighed, "And... I have something of yours in here." She opened it and pulled out the four paper people. "Remember these?" she held them out to him, careful not to spill the peanuts.

Deadpool: "Oh Anna, Anna, banAnna, you can't be really here, else I'll have to either capture and or kill you, and drop you down at Beastly's house of horrors. McCoy's really been wanting to find a healer mutant, he's running through experiments like a kid with a magnifying glass at an ant hill and hey look! Dorothy!" he pointed at one of the paper characters.

SaintAnna: Anna smiled, "Yep it is. You can have them if you want... I rescued them for you... but if you don't want them I'll just keep them with these," She gave the tin a little shake, "I made peanut people. It's really hard work."

Deadpool: "Yeah I know! Couldn't believe I threw mine away, didn't I know how much time and effort I put into those?!?" Deadpool looked at one of the other paper characters, "Blanche looks a little worn out...no wait, that's how she always looked."

Deadpool: "Nah, keep'em, got a better home with you, besides, chances are in a week or so we'll find your hideout and then all your bases are belong to us." Deadpool blinked for a second, "I'm being rather inhospitable," he clapped twice and suddenly the room went darker with romantic lighting and Barry White started playing lightly in the background.

SaintAnna: Anna giggled, "Oho, so now we see why I'm still alive." She grinned then carefully placed the paper figures back in the tin with her peanuts. "You know... it needn't be this way.... you could come back to our side..." she shuffled her feet and looked down at the floor, "It would be nice to have you around again..."

Deadpool: Deadpool sighed, clapped twice again and the music died and the lighting went back to normal, "Yeah about that," he half sat, half leaned against the back of the couch, crossing his arms, "Tiny bit of doubt if that would happen."

SaintAnna: Anna nodded, she thought he might say something like that, she looked up, "Why...? You can't like what he's making you do? All those people...." she bit her lip and looked at the floor again.

Deadpool: "Technically he's not making me do anything, to tell you the truth you don't actually take over a continent just by picking a few people and tell them to do the dirty work for you. Everything's actually perfectly planned and automated, I'm thinking he planned all of this for a really long time. My work's basically just being a figurehead and say yes to all tactical questions."

SaintAnna: "So then you don't have to be here. He doesn't need you, he can find someone else. Come with us, we're safe where we are and we look after eachother. This is the longest I've been in my own body for weeks... and it's the first time it's not made me anxious,"

Deadpool: "That's because you're around me, girls just feel relaxed around me. Well, I can say you kidnapped me when they find your place, but then again, that would be a big fat lie, people tend to frown upon stuff like that, besides, this place is as safe as can be, only way for a person to sneak in here is if they were made of air. That or an aeiral attack, these big windows aren't unbreakable you know."

Deadpool: "Plus once the alarm's set off the place goes into lockdown, so no-one wowuld be able to get through the doors you came in. Be it infiltrator or security."

SaintAnna: Anna smiled a little, "Yeah, Wade... you're probably right..." she sighed, "Does that mean no? 'Cause that would make us officially enemies... I don't want that... but if it's the way it has to be...." she trailed off and looked up at him, "I'll miss you."

Deadpool: "D'awww, shucks, you won't miss me, I'm an easy target. Plus chances are you'll end up seeing me again eventually. Maybe not today. Maybe not tomorrow, but soon and for the last time in my life, Ilsa...er I mean Anna." Deadpool stood up again and walked over to the bar, reaching around and held up a handheld vacuum cleaner. "Now you better get before I suck you up."

SaintAnna: Anna laughed, "Yeah yeah, like you could keep me in there." She walked over to him and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek, "Good bye Wade." She walked to the door and opened it again, turning back into vapor. She drifted out with her tin and pulled the door closed with her teke. Well... that was it.

Deadpool: Deadpool watched the door close, took in a deep breath, exhaled, put the vacuumcleaner down on the bar, walked over to the couch and sat down. Reaching over he grabbed the phone and dialed a number.

Deadpool: "Hey, Beastly, how's the furcoat? Not getting too warm over there? Reason I'm calling, you weren't sleeping, right? Reason I'm calling, that new power Poccy gave me, yeah, the whole touch and sicness thing, guess what, think I can control it. Yup. Now if you would excuse me, gotta call roomservice to bring up three bodybags. No, that happened before I knew how to control it. No, it's okay, no, all humans, you already got enough of them."

Deadpool: "Anyway, got to go, you get back to your nutty experiments you sadistic huggable psycho." Deadpool put down the phone and sat back, grabbing the remote and went on channel surfing.

A green sparkle danced over the dryness of what once was known as “Texas”. It was born from the reflection of the burning sunlight on a carapace of humongous size, the beetle that bore it huge enough to rival the size of the broken and stranded aircraft carriers you could find along the coasts sometimes. If you would dare to come a little closer, you would notice rapid movement among the reflected light, caused by myriads of smaller, car-sized beetles scurrying around.

You wouldn’t know it from observing, but those carried oxygen and nutrition into the depths of the behemoth that was housing them, utilizing a system of tunnels to reach their goal and then releasing what was necessary out of their own bodies. You would gasp and stand motionlessly while watching this display of nature’s power, your eyes would wander to notice every last detail, until you’d reach the point where the carapace no longer was able to reflect the sunlight.

Atop this organism that seemed too massive to be a living thing a rigged structure was enthroned. At first you would think that it was nothing but dirt having accumulated over time, but then you would notice the small windows in erect structures that under your observing eye started to resemble towers and ledges.

Over all this bewilderment about what you are witnessing, you might not have noticed hushed shadows deploying from various of the holes. Depending on how much the sun would blind you, you might not even notice the shadows growing into a small cloud. But your musing would definitely be interrupted by the deafening sound of a buzz comparable in noise to a passing siren approaching you.

You would turn around in terror, because even the most heroic heart knows when to be afraid. And how could it not? Being hunted down by normal-sized wasps is bad enough, having them after you if they’re as big as saint bernards there is nothing else left to do.
You would be running, stumbling over the uneven ground, while they would come closer and closer, almost gracefully flying in concert. Your legs would be flying away behind you now if they weren’t attached to your body, that much you are straining yourself. Panicked looks over your shoulder reveal that they are still coming closer, you can make out enormous mandibles on their heads already, something that might be saliva dropping down from them terrifies you enough to increase your speed yet another time…once too often, because it doesn’t allow you to avoid the single pebble that finally makes you fall.

You would realize that you can’t get up fast enough anymore, so you turn over on your back and protect yourself from the impending onslaught with your arms and legs. Maybe now you realize that you have been screaming all the time, having barely any air left in your lung. The light-headedness allows you to be focused quite clearly, you notice small beetles running over those wasps too, even while they’re hunting.

And then they’re here, you feel the strong breeze of constantly flapping wings on your body, you kick after them, try to protect your body and face at the same time, all the while hoping at least a little bit they will hit your heart or head first, so you won’t have to suffer much. And you’re still screaming. Even when they don’t start to rip you apart, but slowly grab your limbs and start to lift you up, simply ignoring your thrashing.

After a few moments you would realize that you’re still alive. A state of being that might rapidly change if you don’t stop moving around that much, being as you are being carried several stories over the very hard ground and towards the mysterious sand castle.
You would be flown through a wider opening, passing by tiny insects, constantly working on strengthening and repairing the paper and mud mixture the walls are made off.

Expecting to enter a dark and cold labyrinth on the inside, you might be surprised to fly into a huge cavern after only a few turns. From the ceiling a big globe of luminescent light is illuminating everything. You look upwards while passing it and realize that it is made up of millions of fireflies and that there are four more of those. Only through that sheer number of individual light sources it is possible to have this lush and green paradise passing by under you, as you fly towards the centre of this little moving oasis.

Out of the corner of your eye you find movement again. Though you would be surprised to realize that it’s being created by little children chasing after each other and being involved into various kinds of games while their parents watch them and chat friendly with each other.

Then you would finally go down slowly, the landing is surprisingly soft. You might follow the departing wasps with your eyes, until finally realizing that you are being observed silently. You turn around and see a woman, her features, as those of the other humans, covered by light grey cloth, similar to a tunic. Still, she is different. A light grey cape with a hood allows her face to remain in shadows, though a short glimpse on her uncovered arms reveals her skin to be unhealthily white and like parchment.

Her proud stature gives hints of her being the queen of this little fairy kingdom, while the last few doubts are being destroyed when you see the butterflies dancing around her and the colourful beetles on the ground, moving as a brilliantly shining mass under her feet as she walks towards you now.

For a moment you wonder why she isn’t sitting in a throne and motioning you to come to her, but then you realize that who lives in a castle on top of a giant beetle doesn’t have use for such things. And while you’re still pondering, her cold hands with long and slender fingers grasp you face, and you catch glimpse of a smile so sad it might break your heart…

It had hit out of nowhere. Explosions, destruction, an apocalypse of screams and debris raining down on each and ever single one of the insects she contacted while Adriana was on her way back from the woods towards the now destroyed mansion.

She had no idea what had happened, but she wanted to help. So she was riding on a wave of bugs towards ground zero. As always, the sheer mass of individuals would prove helpful.

Or it would have, if not in this instance she had ran into what was basically a living, breathing wall. Looking up…and a bit further up…she looked into cold blue eyes, measuring her, tucking away at her conscience. In what was barely more than a reflex her little legion lashed out at the doubtlessly hostile figure, but a simple nod whipped them away. It took all she had to still let waves from other directions hurry to help the other students.

Then she turned around. Adriana had to get away from here, her friends needed help. But she even could think of running away, a hand like that of a bear grabbed her head and held her up. She struggled and tried to lash out at the attacker, but there was no use.

<You fight, but not because of yourself…even when I stand in front of you, you only think of helping others. I can see your mind shining bright…will you illuminate my path towards re-establishing the true natural order?>

The voice creeped through her mind like a snail made of hot tar, burning away her barriers stripping away anything she was, until she remained naught but a naked core of her personality.

<…My friends…>
<You care for others a lot…If you join me I will allow you a personal zoo with a few human pets…Or don’t and they will all die…>
<…A few…?>
<Or none at all.>
<………yes…….>

A wave of unknown words washed over her while her forehead started burning, then…
<Accept this power as a Horseman of Apocalypse, and the power of Famine will turn your blood to dust, let the crops wither where you walk, and keep you alive until the end of days. You will use the power that I give you now to serve your master... Do you accept your master?>

And she did.

Hepzibah: Hepzibah lay on the table, fading in and out. The pain in her side turned out to be more than a scrape. By the time Toxin got them to the hideout, she was barely concious.

SaintAnna: Anna slid down the pole, for once using it for it's intended purpose - to get to an emergency quickly. She ran to the room and skidded to a halt. "What the hell happened?!" She ran to Hepz's side, "Oh my God did you get shot!?"

Hepzibah: "Looks that way, doesn't it?" Hepz voice was raspy as she tried to grin. "Good thing we got a healer, huh?" She laid her head back on the table, closing her eyes. The room spun crazily. Suddenly, she wished she hadn't shooed Kyle out. This was a bad one, she could tell.

SaintAnna: "Is it still in there?" Anna went to wash her hands and put on some gloves, "You really need to be more careful - you can't take stupid risks like Kyle does, you're not as resiliant as he is." She picked up some swabs and some surgical tweezers.

Hepzibah: "Well, getting shot wasn't exactly part of the plan." She smirked weakly and grimaced as Anna started to examine the wound. "And, no one's got as much stamina Kyle." The cat took a sharp breath and dug her claws into the table top as Anna poked a little harder.

SaintAnna: "It's deep, Hepz... it's going to hurt... You sure have a talent for getting awkward wounds..." She pushed the tweezers in further and finally caught the bullet, "Gotcha." She carefully pulled it out, "There's the little bugger," she dropped it onto the table.

Hepzibah: Hepz nodded that she understood and braced herself as Anna dug the long tweezers into the wound in her side and twisted around. God she has to be doing that on purpose!! Just to teach me a lesson! She passed out for just a moment from the pain.

SaintAnna: Having removed the foreign body from the wound Anna could now do her favourite bit. She pulled her gloves off, rubbed her hands together and placed them on Hepzibah, healing the wound over. "All done!"

Hepzibah: When Hepz opened her eyes, the pain was gone. She looked down appraisingly. Her shirt was saturated in bright red and there was still a frighteningly large pool of blood beside her, but the wound itself was gone and she was already feeling back to normal.

Hepzibah: "You are a marvel, Anna." Hepzibah grinned starting to sit up. She reached out and picked up the bullet. "This makes what? The ninth or tenth one?" Anna had patched her up many, many times in the past two years.

SaintAnna: "Er.... twelve I think..." Anna grinned and started to clear away the mess, "And you think I'm accident prone..." she mopped up the blood and washed down the table. "So, how did it happen this time?"

Hepzibah: "An even dozen, then?" She laughed. "We ambushed a poccy patrol." She waved her souvenir, "Think this was a stray from a guard who was gunning for Fido. Or maybe Tox. Things happened pretty fast." Then she put her hands on her hips. "And I am not accident prone. Nobody gets shot twelve times by accident."

SaintAnna: Anna giggled, "Yeah I suppose you have a point." She finished tidying and hopped up onto the table, already feeling uncomfortable. "So how long do you think we'll be allowed to stay here?" she looked around her, "It's certainly more weatherproof than the last place." She pulled her feet up onto the table and drew herself into a tight ball.

Hepzibah: "I'm not sure sweetie." Hepz sighed, stepping around a partition and changing clothes. She'd needed a shower to wash the blood out of her fur, but who even knew if this old firestation even had running water. "You know we can't stay in any one place too long. We're safest on the move."

Hepzibah: She came back around and leaned against the wall next to Anna. She knew the healer was acting out of sorts. "How are you holding up?"

SaintAnna: Anna shrugged, "Don't know... don't like all this moving... don't like outside... don't like anything much anymore..." she sighed, "I miss how it used to be... I miss when Ben was funny.... there was a time he'd have joined me sliding down that pole maybe even raced me up the stairs to see who could get there first... but not anymore..."

SaintAnna: She looked over at the window. It was so dirty you couldn't see out but the light came through well enough. "I keep... forgetting what it's like... to be like this..." she gestured at herself. "I forgot how to walk this morning and nearly fell down the stairs - caught myself with my teke."

Hepzibah: Hepz was quiet for a moment. "I know Anna." She put her hand through her dirty white hair. She really did need a bath. "This is all messed up. We should be in school right now, skipping class - not running around like freedom fighters on some holy mission." She bowed her head. "I miss the old Ben too. I still smell him on Tox, but...lately, it seems like he's getting harder to pick out."

Hepzibah: She reached out and put her hand on Anna's shoulder, "You're spending alot of time out of this body lately." It was hard to mask the concern in her voice.

SaintAnna: Anna nodded, lowering her gaze to the floor, "I know... But... I feel safer when I'm with someone else. I can't heal myself and it makes me vulnerable and Ben's always on at me about how important I am...." she chewed her lower lip, "It's just better if I hide out in someone else... just in case, you know? And no one knows I'm still alive right now - no one's seen me since the attack on the mansion. I'm safe."

Hepzibah: "I think I understand." Hepz smiled. She had Kyle and when she was with him was the only time she really felt safe anymore. Anna had no one. Except her little tin that she carried with her everywhere. Hepz eyed the tin sitting on the table beside her. "And, you are important. I'd be dead now if not for you.

SaintAnna: Anna smiled, "Yeah... a lot of people would be...." She picked up her tin and held it to her, "Just wish I'd been able to help everyone else... So many people died and they didn't need to...." She sniffed, "And then there's the ones that are on the other side...."

Hepzibah: Every face of every friend cautious Hepzibah had made while she was at the school flashed through her mind. "I know, Anna. We've all lost people close to us. Either because they were murdered or they betrayed us."

Hepzibah: "And the betrayals hurt worse that the murders don't they?" She paused for a moment. "Anna, I don't like Toxin any better than you. But he's right. We have to end this war."

SaintAnna: Anna sniffed again, rubbing at her eyes, "I know that... but... they're our friends, Hepz... I know they're on the wrong side of the fence but... that doesn't matter. They're still our friends, we don't know their reasons for going over to his side but if we're going after poccy... we're going after them too..."

SaintAnna: "I don't want to lose anyone else... we shouldn't have to...." She tightened her grip on her tin, then got up, found a box and sat under it. Better now.

Hepzibah: Hepzibah smiled as she watched Anna. She understood better than most that some places felt safer than others. For her, it was high places. High ground always felt safer. But right now, she followed Anna and crouched down in front of her box. "They made their choice, Anna." Hepz spoke in a near purr, trying to calm her. "Just like we did. Who knows what Apocalypse promised them, but it was enough to cause them to turn on us, their friends, like they never knew us."

SaintAnna: Anna sobbed inside her box, "What kind of a choice is it? All the people that stood up to him died!" She wiped her eyes on her sleeve, "I don't like it... any of it - it's not fair." She wanted Wade back.

Hepzibah: Hepz hesitated a moment then climbed inside the box. "I know, Anna." She hugged the girl tightly. "None of it's fair. I know how you felt about Wade. Same way I felt about Hector. It would have been better if they'd died, but they didn't. They abandoned us for greener pastures and that hurts so much more."

SaintAnna: "No it wouldn't!" Anna closed her eyes tight, "It wouldn't be better! I don't want them to die I want them back here with us!" She clung to Hepz, even all bloodied up her fur was soft. She nuzzled the girl's shoulder, "Why did all this have to happen when we were all happy?"

Hepzibah: She let Anna cuddle up in her fur. "That's a long wait for a train that's never gonna come, sweetie." She whispered. "And I wish to God I had answers, Anna. But all I can tell you is that we all drew our lines in the sand. And, now we got to find a way to live with our choices...and theirs."

SaintAnna: "I don't want to live with it anymore, Hepz..." Anna yawned feeling sleepy, "I'm sick of it all... I'm sick of moving around all the time, I'm sick of listening to Blob face talking about me like I'm an object and I'm sick of fighting with people I care about and watching them fight with eachother." She finished in a mumble Hepz was warm and comfy.

Hepzibah: "I know, Sweetie. But, why don't you just get some rest for right now?" Hepz could feel Anna starting to go limp against her. Who knew when was the last time the poor girl had slept. She purred a little louder, that always did the trick for Kyle.

SaintAnna: Anna yawned, "Mmm.... maybe...." her grip on her tin loosened as she fell asleep curled up against Hepzibah.

Hepzibah: Hepzibah stayed beside her for a bit, till she was sure Anna was in a sound sleep. Then she eased out of the box. She grabbed a blanket and pulled it over the sleeping form. She left her in her box, where she felt safe. Feeling safe was luxury these days and putting her hand to her side, she decided Anna had definately earned a little of it.

Reckless? Please. So long as Anna hangs onto her marbles, Hepz can take a bullet as well as the next girl. Besides, nobody died - except those poccy serving scum who deserved it.

He plans on playing cards with both and probably Benedict (betrayer of a nation) cause, ya know, it's good to have company. ;)

And btw, yes reckless! cause when you massacre minions needlessly, then you leave a trail of where you been, that points to where you are going. Ergo mindless slaughter=bad, sneaky sneak watching=good. ;)

Which is probably what your informant would tell you anyway.... Cause that guys is terribly mysterious....

Anticipating Anna

Post by Svartfreja » Wed May 13, 2009 8:22 pm

SaintAnna: Anna sneaked back in the window she'd gone out of, open just wide enough for her tin. She tried to remember where she'd left her clothes. It was too dark to see anything. She drifted over to a dust sheet and decided that would do for clothing until she could find hers.

Toxin: "You have a nice visit?" Toxin asked, dropping from the ceiling with a gurgling hiss.

SaintAnna: Anna just about managed not to scream. She pulled the sheet tighter around herself and glared at him, "Don't you know it's rude to creep up on people!!" She yelled, not caring if there were people sleeping in the next room. There probably wasn't anyway.

Toxin: "You betrayed the cause!" They roared, their long sinewy, red arm, stretching out and grasping her throat, the goo expanding across her chest and around her chin, slowly rising to her mouth. "You blatantly ignored a directive given to you, and endangered the lives of our friends and yourself!"

SaintAnna: Anna vaporised and snaked away from him,

Toxin: Toxin grinned. "You did... and you did splendidly. You performed above and beyond our expectations..." He hunched over, letting their knuckles rest on the floor. "Did he supply you with decent information, as I expected he would?"

SaintAnna: She resumed her solid form again and put the sheet back over herself, "What do you mean?... Did you plan this?!" She took a couple of steps towards him, feeling furious.

Toxin: "You give us too much credit..." Toxin chuckled, except it sounded more like a high pitched hacking. "We simply anticipated your every decision... You're like play dough, we can mold you however we need, make you into whatever we nee-" Ben's face suddenly appeared, the costume pulling away. "It's lying... Neither Brock nor I... we didn't want this it just... worked out."

SaintAnna: Anna turned her back on him. "I hate you!" She walked over to the window again and scrubbed at it with her fist so she could glare out at the dawn. "First you tell me that I have to let Wade die and now you're expecting me to make it easier for you to kill him?!" she threw another angry look over her shoulder at him and picked up her tin.

Toxin: "Well if it makes you feel better..." Toxin's twisted two-toned voice said, "We simply needed to know how to get in there... and we trust Wade to be crazy enough to give us those details. So either you inform Alex or Andy during your stay in their bodies... or we all die. Pestilence isn't far from us, and if we wait too long he will be forced to come here... to find us."

SaintAnna: Anna held her tin tight, it was all she had now, afterall. "I told him I didn't want us to be enemies.... that he could come back and be on our side again... he didn't say no... just that he doubted he could." she sighed, her shoulders sagging. "I don't want him to die..."

SaintAnna: She turned around, "I know he has to... but I don't want it to happen... you can understand that, can't you? Or have you forgotten what it's like to feel anything?"

Toxin: "We feel plenty. We feel hate, loathing, jealousy, and guilt..." Toxin slowly faded away from around Ben and there stood the young man, bald and scarred. "I feel it Anna... I don't want any of them to die... but I..."

Toxin: He sat down and looked to her. "Remember Rachel? I ask because sometimes I forget how Adriana or Wade were, I'm not sure how close to Rae you were though..."

SaintAnna: "We were close enough - she took care of Jules. That kind of thing makes a person grow on you." She pulled the sheet tighter around her, shivering in the draught from the open window. "You're so intent on killing them all the time and revenge and everything it just seems like you don't care anymore and it's not fair because it hurts so much!" she used the sheet to wipe her eyes then wished she hadn't because it was so dusty and it stung.

SaintAnna: "I don't wanna do this anymore. Sometimes I just want to run away... but where am I going to go? I don't even know if I still have a family...."

Toxin: "It's far more complicated than you think. I do not wish to kill them... I wish to end Apocalypse and killing them is the only option. Rachel... Rachel was my friend... my sister. I love her, and she is gone. I know this because I had a mental connection with her for a long time and ... recently I tried testing her myself..."

Toxin: "Similar to how you provoked Wade to try and get him to join us... no take. She flatly refused and told me we would all be burned. She is not Rachel... she is War. Wade is not Wade, he is Pestilence. Same goes for Rogue and Adriana..."

Toxin: "Trying not to kill them will only get you killed. And also,... this is all the family you need. We will protect eachother however we can, and even Toxin would lay down his life to save his brother and sister mutants. Yourself included."

SaintAnna: Anna shook her head, "It's not the same.... It's still Wade... he's just the same as he always was...." she sniffed and looked at the tin in her hands, "He was exactly the same... He remembered everything... Even these." She opened the tin and pulled out the paper figures of Dorothy, Rose, Blanche and Sophia. "After all this time."

Toxin: "And Rachel remembered Josh's ring..." Ben held out the ring that he had taken from his dead friend's finger. "And she swore she would kill me for it."

SaintAnna: "Probably because she wants it." Anna put the lid back on her tin after replacing the figures carefully back on top of the peanuts. "So they are still in there somewhere..." She sighed heavily, "Wade could easily have killed me tonight, but he didn't... well, he threatened me with a vacuum cleaner but it's not the first time...." she smiled a little.

SaintAnna: She shook herself, "What he did tell me... I'm not sure how useful it will be..."

Toxin: "Anything is useful Anna. He was always crazy... but he was also an X-man. And I have faith he wouldn't have forgotten that." But you do have faith as to how tasty his brains will taste! Ben shook his head violently and waved his hand, as if to shoo a bug.

SaintAnna: Anna frowned, "Are you alright?" funny how easy things were when she could put her doctor hat on. She walked over to him, "I think you've been stuck together too long. You need to be in your own minds for a bit." She put her tin down and went to the sink, washing her hands.

Toxin: Ben gurgled and turned to her, his eyes taking the familiar shape of Toxin's. "You don't know what you're talking about" he roared at her. "You're a stupid, emotional little girl!"

SaintAnna: "And you're losing your grip on your sanity." Anna said calmly, "Don't forget. I possess people regularly for my own safety. I'm becoming reliant on that sensation. I like to be enclosed in another form. But I still come out and have my own time once in a while. I think you two need to do that. At least once a week or it will cease to be symbiosis and become dependancy."

Toxin: Ben shook his head, trying to get Toxin to go away and resettle back into his core. She wishes to make us separate! You need us Ben! We are the only way you can defeat Apocalypse and avenge your wife and child! You are too weak on your own!

Toxin: Ben banged the floor, leaving an impressive hole. "Stop it!" He growled, the goo sliding down his arms and filling in between his fingers. Tears came down his eyes as the hood of the symbiote wrapped around his face. "Anna... it's too late."

SaintAnna: "It's never too late Ben. If you want, I can help you. But only if you want me to..." She put a hand on his shoulder, "You only have to ask." She smiled a little, "I'm a doctor, remember?"

Toxin: Ben looked up at her and smiled. "Brock and I are just as long gone as Rachel, Wade, Rogue, and Adriana are... we're just on the other side..." He let the symbiote consume him and he looked to Anna as his tongue snaked out between his sharp needly teeth, flicking saliva to the floor. "We're more powerful this way..."

SaintAnna: Anna sighed, removing her hand and turning her back to him again, "You take power at the expense of yourself..." she went back to the sink, picked up a plastic cup and got herself a drink of water. "You know where I am when you change your mind."

Bobby: I'm really sorry, I was looking forward to seeing you. I miss you. This time when he reached out to knock on the door it swung open crookedly, the light from the setting sun filtering through the open rafters. "Nooobody home." The creaking sound of his voice sent roosting birds away in a burst of feathers.

Bobby: He watched them vanish into the sky, then looked back into the house impassively. There wasn't a lot left, but he froze it anyway. Froze it until the wood popped and splintered, until it collapsed under its own weight.

Death: Death listened as Apocalypse gave her her orders. She would bring back the one known as Bobby Drake for him. She would not fail him. If she had to kill the Iceman, she could bring back the body, but Apocalypse wanted him, so Apocalypse would get him. She nodded and took off into the sky, heading to Reno where he was last found using his powers.

Bobby: There wasn't a lot left of the town either, but he didn't really care. He wasn't sure why he'd come to her father's home, just as he wasn't sure why he'd gone to his own parents' house. On some level he'd known they'd be gone, just like everything else.

Bobby: He sat down on the flaking, frosty concrete step on the porch and drew his knees up under his chin, watching his cold breath dissipate in the hot air. Another day's work done, right? I'm a dull boy, work all day...

Death: Death searched the streets for him and finally found him curled up on some steps. Pitiful. She scooped up some debris from a nearby roof and charged it, throwing it down at his feet to get his attention.

Bobby: He sensed the shift in air temperature and moved to look up, then the temperature spiked, directly in front of him, and he scrambled backward. The pink flash was familiar and brought him another muddied burst of memory and emotion. When he located the source, however, the memories didn't match. He tilted his head and looked at her.

Death: She lowered slowly to the ground and hovered just in front of him. "What are you doing here?"

Bobby: Two names came to his mind, but he wasn't sure which was right. She didn't look right either, but she did look familiar, and that made her the first recognizable face he'd seen since he'd found Lorna and the others so many weeks ago. He shook his head to clear this hallucination, but she was still there so he picked a name. "Anna."

Death: "She is no more." She moved closer to him and repeated herself, "What are you doing here?"

Bobby: "No more?" He stood, self-aware for the first time in weeks of the sound he made when he moved, of his nudity as well. "No, no. I'm sure. It was Anna. There was another Anna too, but you were always Anna to me." He looked over his shoulder at the house and shrugged. "Why not here? What're you doing here?"

Death: "I am the Horseman Death. Apocalypse eliminated the one you knew as Rogue. Or Anna." She held her hand out to him, "Come with me, Iceman. Join our ranks. Be where you belong."

Bobby: He just looked at her curiously. Down at her hand, back up at her face, then took a step back. "Where I belong," he echoed. "No, apparently he's where I belong."

Death: She narrowed her eyes and took a step toward him. "I do not know, nor do I care who this 'he' is. The only 'he' you should be thinking about is Apocalypse. You would make a wonderful addition to his army. I would even be your general if it would make you more comfortable."

Bobby: "Remy." The name that went with the pink powers suddenly came back to him and he noticed she was closer again. "Those powers don't belong to you." He opened his mouth, closed it, opened it again. "That 'he' with the lips caused all this. He already killed me once. That wasn't enough?"

Death: "They do now. This Remy you speak of isn't among us anymore." Death reached out further to him, "Join us or I will get rid of you properly. It is your choice."

Bobby: "You're sure.. about the elimination part? Because I remember this one-track mind thing..." He looked at her hand but made no move toward it. Other memories were coming back. "Sam. I saw him fall, before..." There was where things got fuzzy. He remembered panic and pain and then nothingness, until as so many times before he reformed. But this time he reformed in the ruins of their empty home.

Death: Death clenched her jaw and closed her eyes for a brief second. "It was...unfortunate what happened to the one I used to know as Sam. But he was weak." She dropped her hand and stepped closer to him. "Obviously you are not as weak. You would be a great asset to us."

Bobby: He automatically stepped back. "Don't, Doll. I'm cold." All the king's horses and all the king's men. "Not as weak. You know, I thought that was common knowledge by now. Always come back. Bad penny. All that." Familiar anger started to rise. "If that was the case, why didn't she wait for me?"

Death: Death ignored his warning and stepped to him again. "Especially when I'm finished." She always thought she wouldn't like having telepathic powers, but it was kind of handy. "No one should matter but Apocalypse."

Bobby: His eyes snapped to hers at the additional voice in his head and the temperature dropped around them. "Don't." The shields he'd learned so long ago didn't work right in this form, but her presence in his head wasn't welcome. "You know, maybe I am weak. Maybe you should just go fishing somewhere else. If I wasn't weak, why'd I let her live? Huh?"

Bobby: His voice rose, echoing against the walls of the blasted homes around them. "All those fuckers, they left me for dead! She left me for dead! 'Till death do us part apparently works pretty fucking fast. I wonder if she even bothered to take off my ring before she fucked that pretty-boy Summers asshole."

Death: "None of that matters now. Apocalypse can make your pain and anger nonexistent." She was about to just kill him off and bring her master the body. "If you will not join us, I will kill you before I go 'fishing somewhere else'. It is my duty as Apocalypse's top general."

Bobby: That just made him laugh.

Death: She just stared at him, "Why are you amused?"

Bobby: "You get dental with that shiny new job title?" He took a step closer to her to stare her down. "Maybe I like my fucking anger."

Death: "Dental?" She arched an eyebrow at him, "Do not test me, Bobby."

Bobby: Something turned over in his mind and he bared his teeth in an almost-smile. "I guess maybe you really don't remember me then."

Death: "I know who you are." She reached up to his throat, holding it gently, only applying enough pressure to get his attention. "You are Bobby Drake, also known as Iceman. And I have been sent here to see that you are brought to Apocalypse one way or the other."

Bobby: Can't live with them, can't live without... "You know, all those times you played with my powers..." He raised his own hand and brushed his icy thumb over her cheekbone almost tenderly before grabbing a fistful of hair and twisting it, moving in close to whisper. "I don't think you ever realized who you were fucking with."

Bobby: He shattered himself into a million pieces in her hand and melted into vapor.

Death: Death laughed at that, highly pleased with the powers he possessed. "Apocalypse wants you, Bobby. If you came with me you could take care of everything that has made you angry."

Bobby: He considered her words for just a moment before vanishing with the wind.

Death: She closed her eyes with a sigh as she felt his mental presence move away from her, leaving her standing in the ruins of the house. She would find him. And she would kill him.

Moth to the Flame

Famine: The Hive passed through clouds that hung deep over the colourful forrest as torrents of Indian summer swept over the land. Any law of physics argued the fact that the giant beetle that carried it was able to lift itself up, nonetheless fly, but here it was, its wings strengthened by the same army of bugs that normally fullfilled cleaning duties.

Famine: In the direction of flight a single figure was standing on the beetle's head, seemingly motionless, but in fact bound by a telepathic struggle.

Famine: Lord Apocalypse would like to argue the point, but he couldn't deny the natural order he had dedicated his existence to.

Pestilence: Deadpool tapped the pilot's shoulder and pointed towards the big flying bug, and opened his door when they got closer, him huming as loudly as he could Ride of the Valkyries. Instead of landing, it just hovered close to the thing's surface and Deadpool jumped off, watching the helicopter go. The helicopter were much more quiet then on the bug.

Magma: Amara woke up to the sound of humming. She looked up, "Oh..." Well at least Adriana was still alive... at least she hoped it was Adriana and not some other crazy bug-loving mutant. But seriously, what were the odds of that? She got to her feet, checking herself over then activated her powers and melted a hole into the ground, ready to jump in if there was any hostility and cover it over again.

Famine: Famine watched the figure drop down out of the helicopter, unmoved, but still deep in thought.

Famine: She turned around and spoke out from the shadows under her hood. "One would think that a man who owns land enough that you can't walk through it in a week would have the decency to leave me alone to my little patch of chitin, Wade."

Pestilence: Deadpool's humming had changed to Flight of the Bumblebee as he trod all the way up to Queenie or Famish or whatver she liked to be called by underlings. Hmm, does she even have underlings? Wait, this isn't right, test, test, test, there we go. "I stepped on a cockroach in my kitchen by accident, thought I would pay my respects."

Famine: "I know, I warned it, but it couldn't resist the rotting smell." She seemingly glided towards him instead of walking, now that he was closer he could hear a scratch in her voice, as if hard things grinded on each other.

Famine: "I take it you came to oversee my recruitment?"

Pestilence: "That and always wanted to ride a giant beetle. Oh don't worry, I'm just hear to show her we're a bunch of friendly friends here to welcome her to the fun side of the force, plus I was getting bored sitting all day channel surfing. Would you look at that, we gonna head to her like a moth to a flame?"

Famine: "We will." With those simple words millions of bugs started to fly out of the Hive and started to form a stair downwards which she instantly started to descend on. "I would appreciate if you let me do the talking first."

Magma: Amara watched the stairs forming, So she wants to chat.... She relaxed her stance a little but didn't dismiss her flames - more because she was butt-naked than because she was worried.

Pestilence: Deadpool watched Faminine go down the the long buggy staircase, and then started following, giving an experimental step on the bugs before actually going down all the way. Near the ground he was already tapdancing down the bugstars like Fred Astaire.

Famine: She glid onto the ground motionlessly, part of the stair following her movement and forming a living and moving carpet. Finally she reached Amara.

Famine: "Hello, 'Mara." The screeching got a bit more prominent as she tried to sound cheerful.

Magma: Amara winced at the sound of Adriana's voice, but managed to smile, "Hi Adriana, Wade. Nice place you got there." She gestured up at the castle on top of the giant bug. "Better tell your friends not to get too close though..."

Pestilence: Wade opened his arms and said rather much more cheery, "Amara! How you been, you look hot! Please tell me you haven't got any fire retardend clothing hiding behind you. I'd hug you but this is Dolce."

Famine: "They will remain where they are." The bugs started hurrying all over their big brother again. "You might know why we're here?"

Magma: Amara smiled at Wade, "I have no clothing at all." She turned to Adriana, "No, I don't... I thought you might want to kill me..." she eyed up her hole in the floor. She could still get there if she needed to.

Pestilence: Deadpool pulled at hs suit's collar, "No clothes, eh? Boy, is it getting warm in here?"

Famine: Famine gave the hole in the ground a short look. It would easily have been burried shut within moments, but there was no need to. "I came to make you an offer. To follow me, join us...stay alive..." A short vibrating noise tremored through her voice while she said these last words, as if she was moved a lot by them.

Magma: Amara blinked, her flames dying in surprise, "You want me to join you?" She stared at both of them, "Are you serious?" If they were she would certainly consider it. Maybe that would even mean she could get a guarentee of safety for her child.

Famine: She nodded, or at least the movement of her hood seemed to indicate this. "There is not much hope anymore, but a bit can still be found here and there. Do you want to help me?"

Pestilence: Deadpool standing half behind Farmin' he held two thumbs up and nodded, mouthing 'Oh yeah.'

Magma: Amara looked down at herself, smirking a little, "Whoops...." she looked up again, "If I help you... apart from the obvious benefit of not being killed... what do I get out of it?" She folded her arms loosely, "Somewhere to live? Food?" Food would be nice.

Famine: "There is plenty...you won't starve..." She actually managed to get a bit of irony into her voice.

Pestilence: "And if you need a place to crash, my place is always available, great view, and helluva good room service."

Magma: "And what about my family? If I join you... will my child be safe?" That was all she really cared about, "That's all I want. I'll do anything to get that... Even moving in with you, Wade." She winked at him.

Pestilence: Dude! She's officially a MILF! Wade gave a wink back, adding a waggling his eyebrows afterwards and any other sexual innuendo he could manage through physical movements with his brow and eyelids. "So where is the bundle of joy now?"

Famine: "Wales...," she answered Wade's question. She would prefer to speed things up a bit, his prolongued presence could only complicate things. "Joining us is the only way to keep the baby safe."

Magma: Amara stared at Adriana, how did she know that? She shook herself out of her surprise, "If I come with you, do I have that as a guarentee? That's the only condition I have. No matter what happens to me. My child has to live, we're the only members of our family left."

Pestilence: "Swear on my aunt petunia's grave, cross my heart and...well, hope to die, but I doubt if that's possible, people do try."

Magma: Amara wasn't sure that Wade had an aunt Petunia but she supposed that was as good as she was going to get and it was certainly better than nothing. "Alright. I'll come with you." She sighed, "Better than being on my own and waiting to be killed at any rate."

Famine: "Well then..." The cape fluttered slightly in the wind while it dropped down as the heap of bugs that used to hold it up collapsed into itself and started to crawl back to the 'stairs' made of their brethren, indicating that Amara should follow them.

Magma: Amara began to follow Adriana, then paused, "Er... if it's not too much trouble... may I have some clothes? I mean... I don't care either way - I don't get cold. But it's probably a little distracting..." she turned and closed up the hole in the ground to while she was there.

Famine: Two giant wasps came flying out of the hive and ended up hoovering in front of Amara, holding up a cape made of the same grey cloth Adriana's had been made up.

Pestilence: Deadpool eyed the cape, "Do they do tailored suits too?" and then looked over to Amara, "You know, that probably came out of a bug's ass." he nodded rather sagelike.

Magma: Amara smiled, "It's better than nothing, maybe when all this is over I can go shopping." She put the cape on to cover her modesty, though she didn't really have much of that left anyway, then she started up the steps. No turning back now. She figured she should be careful about using her powers too - if she ended up staying with Adriana anyway.

Pestilence: "What? Shopping? I hope you don't mean to actually spend money in this post apocalyptic world. Besides, haven't you heard, I'm numero uno in New York. Wanna roam through Tiffany's to get some ice to match your fire?" he suggested, Mental Note, rebuild Tiffany's and restock it with jewellery.

Magma: Amara smiled at Wade, "When you can melt your way through any security system available, shopping takes on a whole new meaning. I don't really shop anymore. I take.... and I can make diamonds, why would I want to go to some store to get them?"

Pestilence: Mental note, scratch previous mental note.

Famine: When they finally reached the top of the stair they stood in front of a huge entrance which had been carved out of the bare wall.

Magma: Amara looked over the structure, "Very impressive... you could get a good career as an architect you know." She told Adriana conversationally.

Pestilence: "Yeah," Deadpool agreed, huffing a little after the climb, "Bet Tim Burton would be your first customer."

Famine: "He can't enter..." A distant whisper seemed to come out of the newly formed opening, as if it had been carved exactly so a passing breeze would cause those words.

Pestilence: "Who? Tim Burton? Yeah I wouldn't want to invite that guy to my place either, creeps the hell out of me, did you know he doesn't actually own a pair of glasses, those are his real eyes."

Magma: Amara giggled and patted Wade, "I'm not sure he's even still alive." she gave a small shrug and looked to the entrance again, "And I think the 'he' may have meant you, Wade, sorry." She gave him a very sincere-looking apologetic glance, "Maybe we can make some arrangement for later. We're not that far from New York and I can get anywhere pretty fast under my own steam now." she waved, "See you later." she headed into the building.
