<Jessica> Jess was drunk. Very very drunk. She had been this way for several days, she wasn't sure how many, and the feeling was not getting old. She decided she wasn't giving the inhibitor cuff back, she was going to sit here and get wasted with various shifts of SHIELD agents until she passed out and someone put her in a bed or carried her home. It was a good way to live. No more horrible horrible thinking about the situation her life was in.

<Shinobi> After he got Hope settled, he started looking for Jess to tell her the good news. Of course she wasn't in their room, or with Miriam, or with Viper, or anyone else he knew she knew from the X-Men. Eventually, he found Carol Danvers, who pointed him toward the SHIELD cantina... and there she was. He sighed.

<Jessica> Jess was sitting at a table, head laying on an arm while she drew circles in the spilled beer of several minutes ago, listening to the noise of the chatter and laughter around her.

<Shinobi> At first he couldn't tell if she was passed out or not, but then he saw the movement of her hand and circled the table. "Jess?" An agent looked him over.

<Jessica> "Mmm?" she lifted her eyes from the table and squinted at his face, "Oh it's you." She dropped her gaze back to the table with a groan.

<Shinobi> "Well, at least you can still speak..." He hadn't seen her much for the last several days, but when he had she was either dead drunk or hung over. "You'll want to see me once I tell you why I'm here, so come on, let's go."

<Shinobi> Shinobi went over to take her arm and haul her upright in the chair.
<Jessica> Jess groaned again in protest, "I don't wanna..." she attempted to lie back down again and a few of her SHIELD agent friends exchanged glances, wondering if they should intervene.

<Shinobi> "No, you will... I have news." He frowned. "Well, good news and bad news."

<Jessica> "Don' wan' bad news..." she pulled her arm free and leaned on the table while she worked on standing up.

<Shinobi> "But trust me, you really want the good news." His earlier excitement was coming back despite the situation and he took her arm again to try to get her upright.

<Jessica> "I can do it!" She snapped, pulling her arm free again but stumbling with the force of it and crashing hard into the side of the table. Ow. That hurt. She glared at him.

<Shinobi> One of the agents stood up, wavering a little himself, and Shinobi took a step back and put both hands up.

<Jessica> "What do you want, Shinobi?" He was such a buzzkill. She scrubbed her face with her hand, managing to gather enough momentum to shake her head at the SHIELD agent, "'s fine..."

<Shinobi> "I want to talk to you, but not here, not with you like this." He jerked his head toward the door. "You should get cleaned up, and take that damn cuff off."

<Jessica> "I don't want to. Being sober sucks ass." She pushed a hand through her hair and turned for the door, weaving between chairs and using them as leaning posts to keep her upright... well, ish.

<Shinobi> He finally tired of watching her bounce off the furniture and moved to take her arm again. "Just let me help you, okay?"

<Jessica> "You're not helping... you're ruining it..." she scowled but let him help her anyway.

<Shinobi> Maybe he should just tell her? At least then she'd be more cooperative. "I'm not. Hope used father's telepathy."

<Jessica> Jess froze in motion for several seconds before she shook her head, "I told you not to tell me..."

<Shinobi> "But it's good! He recognized her. She's certain... he recognized her in his mind." He was smiling again now, remembering the surprise and relief. Squeezing her arm a little, he gave in to the moment and hugged her. "He's in there, Jess. He isn't gone."

<Jessica> Jess shook her head again, fighting to get him to let go of her, "You're lying!"

<Shinobi> He pulled back to look at her face in confusion, but didn't release her arms. "I'm not... Jess, why would I?"

<Jessica> "You tell me," she shoved at him, still trying to free herself from his grip. "Maybe because you're sick of me being upset?"

<Shinobi> "That makes no sense!" He wasn't about to let go of her, and in her current state it wasn't even hard.

<Jessica> "None of this makes any sense!" Frustrated she decided she just wasn't going to cooperate at all and promptly sat down on the floor.

<Shinobi> She nearly yanked him to the floor as well. "Why? Why is it so hard to believe? I wouldn't lie about this! My God, don't you think I want him back? That Hope doesn't want him back? With Tony dead he's all she has... just like me."

<Jessica> Her head snapped up to look at him, "Tony's.... dead...?"

<Shinobi> "Yeah..." That hadn't gone quite as intended. "Hope just... it was on the news. Viper confirmed it. He was assassinated today."

<Jessica> She covered her face with her hands, all the fight going out of her now, "Oh God..." when would this nightmare just end?

<Shinobi> "That wasn't how I wanted to tell you that." He joined her on the floor, sitting on his knees. "I know you knew him. I'm sorry."

<Jessica> "Sebastian's best friend..." She sobbed, "There's never any good news..."

<Shinobi> He shook his head and reached over to touch her shoulder. "Except there is. Sebastian's not brain dead."

<Jessica> Jess smacked his hand away, "Stop it! If he was there I'd know! I'd feel it!"

<Shinobi> "How do you know you'd know? You can't even walk!"

<Jessica> "Because we have a link, Shinobi. His powers have been back for ages and it's not there anymore... even with my empathy to amplify it, it's just... it's gone..." She half crawled to the wall and used it to pull herself to her feet.

<Shinobi> "I know about your link and I've known for years. It took her a minute to find him, but she did! If he's still weak, doesn't it make sense that it's broken?" He jumped to his feet and went after her. "For God's sake, just go see him! I take Miriam to see him, and she wants to know where you are!"

<Jessica> "I can't be in there! I've tried, okay? I really tried!" She turned her back to the wall and leaned against it, "I can't watch him slip away... people go into hospitals and they don't come back out again. We got lucky a lot... really lucky... but now it's gone..."

<Shinobi> "He's not slipping away," he said, rolling his eyes this time.

<Jessica> "You don't know that." She turned away from him, using the wall to steady herself as she walked away.

<Shinobi> "Yeah, I do." He watched her, knowing he should go after her.

<Jessica> He was fooling himself and there was no point arguing. She was going to go and find a bed to fall into and try to forget the whole conversation.

<Shinobi> Resigning himself, he waited for her to get just a bit ahead of him and then followed her.

<Jessica> She heard him following but tried to pretend otherwise, continuing her meander down the hall until she found a room where agents on call slept. She opened the door, almost falling in with it but managing to steady herself, then going to flop down on one of the beds.

<Shinobi> He waited outside the door, leaning against the wall and crossing his arms.

<Jessica> Jess had no intention of coming out again. She kicked off her shoes, pulled the sheet of the bunk above her down on top of her and closed her eyes.

<Shinobi> Counting to one hundred would have to suffice, since he was impatient. Going into the room, he debated how he would do this.

<Jessica> Jess wasn't even vaguely aware of the door opening, dead to the world already.

<Shinobi> Well, it was time for a test of his phasing ability. He wasn't about to leave her here.

You know, pretty sure Jack would have been hurt and Hydra went and made him into some kind of super soldier.

<Viper> Viper had sealed herself in her lab for the day, the news of the death of Tony Stark still made her extremely angry and she decided it was easier to be alone than give her medical staff more work to do. She was making modifications to her personal force field generators and keeping an eye on news feeds as she did so.

<Shinobi> With Jess still drunk when she woke up this morning, and confused that she'd ended up in her own bed, Shinobi was at the end of his rope. His repeated attempts to convince her to go see Sebastian had failed, and so had the suggestion she ask Hope herself for confirmation.

<Shinobi> There was no other option, in his mind, but to go above her head. So, he found himself asking for an audience with Viper.

<Viper> Viper detested interruptions when she was working but she had made promises many years ago that she continued to honour. With a sigh, she hit the control that opened her door to admit the lesser Shaw.

<Shinobi> Shinobi entered the lab, looking around cautiously until he spotted the woman. The green hair was hard to miss, obviously. "Thank you for seeing me."

<Viper> "I assumed it was important or you wouldn't bother me. Most people have learned that is a bad idea." She set her tools aside and turned the volume down on her holographic screen.

<Shinobi> "Yeah... it is." He stared at the screen for a moment, his somewhat limited knowledge reaching a quick limit. "It's about Jess."

<Viper> "I had a feeling it would be." She studied him for a moment, "You are concerned about her."

<Shinobi> "Of course I am." He straightened to his full height and looked down at her.

<Viper> She raised an eyebrow at him, leaning back into her seat and surveying him, "Are you attempting to intimidate me? Adorable."

<Shinobi> He crossed his arms. "Aren't you concerned about her? She always said you were ... almost like family to her."

<Viper> "Of course I am but I am not certain what you expect me to say to her to make it better. I would like for her to remain healthy but she must deal with these things in her own way. I am sure, if you were grieving, you would like to be left to do it how you wished, yes?"

<Shinobi> "But she's grieving for no reason." Shinobi shook his head. "And I haven't seen her sober for a week. How is that dealing with anything? I'm the one left trying to explain to her daughter why her mother isn't here."

<Viper> Viper turned her chair and got to her feet, "Her drinking is a concern we share. I had hoped it would settle down but it does seem to be getting worse... though she has remained in the facility, she could have left just as easily so I suppose we should be thankful for this."

<Shinobi> "You think she would leave?" This was a shock, and he stepped backward to lean one hand on a workbench. "Just leave Miriam? And Sebastian?" And him, though he knew he was always lower in that equation.

<Viper> "She hides from problems, it is how she deals with them... it is not entirely her fault. Her father raised her to run away and that is what she does. That she stays speaks to how much she cares," Viper went to a drawer and opened it.

<Shinobi> "Can't you take back that inhibitor cuff? Or order the SHIELD people to stop helping her get wasted every day?" He sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "If she'd believe me, maybe Hope could show her she's doing all this for nothing."

<Viper> "I could do both of those things but I'm not sure that would help. It would just make her resent both of us for interfering and she would find something else to distract herself with... or she would simply leave." She pulled a file out of the drawer, "However, I think this may have the desired effect."

<Shinobi> "What is that?" He moved closer, curious. "I think you should run another brain scan on my father. Hope says she contacted him, and I believe her, but Jess won't."

<Viper> "Then I will do that," Viper offered him the file, "Whilst Jessica was in the medical centre, we ran some blood tests to make sure she was healthy. Those are the results."

<Shinobi> Shinobi took the file, giving Viper a wary look, then looked through pages of indecipherable results. He stopped, went back to the first page, and looked back up at Viper. "She's pregnant?" He read it again, then shook his head. "How... far?"

<Shinobi> Horrified, he shoved the file back at her. "Do you think she knows?" And if his father had known... sending her away... no wonder.

<Viper> "It is unlikely. Her levels are very low so she isn't that far along." She took the file and put it back in the drawer, "I think, if she did know, it would put a stop to the drinking."

<Shinobi> "Then you have to tell her! Why haven't you told her? She could have already... Last night I had to carry her out of the SHIELD quarters because she passed out." Now he ran both hands through his hair, wishing yet again his father would just wake up so he could deal with this mess.

<Viper> "I can't give her this news. It will hurt her and I will not be able to help her." She closed the drawer, "You can send her to me if she requires proof and I can provide that but what she will need is some degree of empathy."

<Shinobi> He just stared at her while that processed before he exploded. "And you think I can do that?"

<Viper> Viper raised her eyebrows, "Who else would be able to do that? I would suggest Bobby Drake but he is in no fit state to offer comfort at the moment."

<Shinobi> "What... what about his wife? Sebastian was in their wedding, so they have to all have been somewhat close." His hair got another pass.

<Viper> "She is not at her best either, the stress of her husband's condition is endangering her health and the health of her child. She would try but they would both suffer for it. You are the logical choice. Jessica trusts you."

<Shinobi> He scoffed. "No, she doesn't."

<Viper> "Yes, she does." Viper decided to get some coffee while she was up, "She leaves you to take care of her daughter. She must trust you to do that."

<Shinobi> "I don't think she remembers she has a daughter. Or gives a shit if she does."

<Viper> "Of course she remembers... and you're avoiding my point." She poured two cups of coffee and offered him the spare.

<Shinobi> "What if that is the point?" After a moment, he took the cup. "She figures I'll take care of the child no matter what, so she doesn't care... If she doesn't have to care then she can go do... whatever. Who says she'll care she's pregnant?"

<Viper> Viper retook her seat, "She does care, Shinobi. You know she cares. She is afraid right now, her whole world is crashing down around her and she can do nothing about it. You give her this news and she has some control back. It may only be a small amount of control of a tiny part of Sebastian but it will help her. You know I know her. You know I'm right."

<Shinobi> "Well... she has to know." He sniffed the coffee and then took a drink. "I'm not convinced that it'll make a difference. Maybe... when she felt what they did to him... He's healing from it, but what if she doesn't? When he wakes up, if she's gone..." Shaking his head, he downed most of the cup.

<Viper> "Then you have to help her," Viper set her own coffee down, leaning to look into his eyes, "You are her family and, at the moment, you are all she has to help her. Miriam is just a child, she doesn't understand what is happening. I can watch her for you if you would like to spend more time with Hope, she will be safe with me."

<Shinobi> His eyes narrowed when she brought up he and Hope, but he supposed it wasn't that surprising. "Fine. I'll tell her."

<Viper> "Thank you. In return, I will watch Miriam for as long as you need, even overnight if you need the time."

<Shinobi> "Thanks," he said with a smirk. "I'll think about that. You may need to watch her when Jess uses that awful electric zap thing on me and puts me in a bed next to father."

<Viper> "She may find that hard if I don't take her inhibitor cuff from her," Viper picked up her coffee again, "You know where to find me."

<Shinobi> "Hmm." Shinobi finished off his own coffee before placing the cup on her workbench. "I suppose wishing me luck is off the table?"

<Viper> "You won't need it... but good luck," she inlined her head with an amused smirk, "I never take anything entirely off the table."

<Shinobi> He snorted and turned for the door. "It's no wonder my father never trusted you. Too much alike, the both of you."

<Viper> Viper laughed, turning back for her work, "That makes two of us, Shinobi."

<Hope> Ahhh dinner time. Hope's favorite part of the day most days included dinner with Shinobi after a long day's work. While Shinobi was busy dealing with his crazy family, which Hope still wasn't sure she wanted to claim, she had decided to get a table. And coffee. And chocolate cake. She took a huge bite of the dessert, content with life.

<Greer> Greer wasn't sure she was entirely ready for leaving her room but if she waited until she felt ready she'd probably never leave. She kept tight hold of Chris' hand, her tail swinging and tapping the walls so she knew where she was in relation to objects around her.

<Hope> With a crafty look around, Hope pulled out her flask and poured a hefty dose of scotch into the coffee. Satisfied, she put the flask away and took a sip of her 'medicine.' That was more like it.

<Christopher> Chris led her into the cafeteria carefully. "It'll be fine. There's no one that wants to hurt you here. And plus side, food." Not the best food in the world. "Plus I have to be getting boring by now."

<Greer> "It's not that... I know I'm safe... I just keep worrying I'm going to walk into something..." She hit someone with her swinging tail and heard a tray of food clatter to the floor, "I'm sorry!"

<Christopher> "Hey it's ok. You just gotta get used to it all. But that's why you've got me right? I make a pretty good seeing eye dog I think."

<Hope> The clattering tray caught Hope's attention. Oh dear God. It was Chris. And Tigra? Hope eyed her coffee. How much had she consumed?

<Greer> "Well it's not like I can get a real dog so you'll have to do, I guess..." she chewed her lip, looking toward the smell of food. "They have steak..."

<Hope> Intrigued by her possible hallucination, Hope watched the pair of them as she sipped her coffee.

<Christopher> "Ouch. And here I thought I was doing a pretty good job." Chris helped her to the line. "Looks like it yeah."

<Greer> "Can you tell them to give me a raw one? Warm but raw... please?" Her tail curled around her legs to stop her from hitting anyone else with it.

<Christopher> "Anything else? Looks like they have some veg for sides." Chris got himself a steak and offered to give them a hand later if they'd make a special order for Greer.

<Greer> Greer wrinkled her nose, "No thanks... just meat... vegetables? Seriously?"

<Christopher> "Psh hey, shit's good for you. Don't make me get my lecture pants on." Chris laughed a little at the wrinkled nose. "Or maybe I just wanted to see that cute face you just made."

<Greer> "You're an ass." She swatted him with her tail.

<Christopher> "Sexy ass?" He laughed a little more and got her plate and his, giving the server a smile when there was an extra steak for Greer. "Owe you one."

<Greer> "Hmm... I don't know anymore..." she felt down his side to give his butt an appraising squeeze, "It's passable."

<Hope> Hope made a face of disgust. Ew. She took a hearty drink of her coffee. She was going to need more scotch.

<Christopher> "Hey now!" Chris jumped a little, but still laughed. "I haven't been able to work out, I'm taking care of a lost kitten."

<Greer> "Kitten, shmitten," she pouted, then her nose caught the scent of something else, "Creeeeeeam..."

<Christopher> "What was that again?" He got himself a drink and her some cream. "Anything else to drink or will the cream do for you oh queen of the jungle?"

<Hope> And she was out of coffee. Well that wouldn't do. She took another bite of her cake before she went to get a refill.

<Greer> "I'm good with that... but I should probably have some water or something." She put a hand on his shoulder so she could continue to follow him while his hands were full.

<Christopher> "Alright, so... a place to sit." Chris aimed them for the closest empty spots. "Okay careful, seat's right here." He helped her into the seat so she wouldn't fall.

<Hope> Hope refilled her coffee, slipping more scotch in while nobody was looking. Flask put away, Hope sipped on it as she walked back toward her table. She might as well be civil. "Chris. Tigra."

<Greer> "Thanks..." her tail coiled around the base of the stool like an anchor, "Now I just have to not spill my water all over the table like this morning..." her head turned toward the voice, "Uh... hi?"

<Christopher> "I've got faith in you Greer." He made sure to keep an eye on her cup and plate in case he had to catch something for her. "Oh, uh, hey Hope."

<Hope> She took a sip of her coffee. "Good to see you're alive."

<Greer> "Me?" Greer's tail uncurled to tap uncertainly, "Do I know you?"

<Hope> "Hope. From Xavier's." She took another sip of her coffee.

<Greer> "Oh... I heard there's a few former students around..." she offered a small smile in Hope's general direction before feeling gingerly across the table for her glass of water.

<Christopher> Chris helped her make sure it got into her hand and not across the table. He really didn't want to join in on this conversation.

<Hope> "There are a few, yes." Her eyes landed on Chris as she took a sip of her coffee, smiling into it. "Mind if I join you?"

<Greer> "Go ahead," Greer took a sip of her water and carefully put it back down on the table. Yay! She didn't spill! And now... steak. Today was good.

<Hope> "Why thank you," Hope gave Chris a brilliant smile as she sat down at their table. "So how long have you been here, Tigra?"

<Greer> "A few days... I think..." she'd been going by meals, "That's right, yeah?" She looked in Chris' general direction.

<Christopher> Chris almost let out a sigh of exasperation, what else was he going to have to try to overcome today, death by piranha maybe? Chris started to cut up his steak. "Yeah few days. Maybe fourish?"

<Hope> Four days. A lot had happened in four days. She downed her coffee. Foregoing the cup, she went straight to her flask. "Wow! That's awesome. Glad you're here." She grinned at the kitty lady. Pretty tail. Did she want a tail? Hope debated on the merits of a tail.

<Greer> Greer's sensitive nose caught the scent of alcohol and wrinkled before the scent of blood claimed her senses and she dove into the steak. She liked Hydra. They had good quality cow products.

<Christopher> "You might want to slow down there a little, Hope..." Chris frowned at her drinking straight from the flask.

<Hope> "You might want to mind your own business," she snapped.

<Greer> Greer was lost in a world of raw cow and occasional sips of cream. Mmmmmmm....

<Christopher> Chris just rolled his eyes and went back to eating. "Whatever." At least Greer's enjoying her dinner. He smiled to himself a little when he noticed that she was purring.

<Hope> "I mean for fuck's sake. We haven't been dating for how long and you still want to control this? This which I have done since before you disappeared?" She took another sip before putting the flask away.

<Greer> Greer paused in her eating, her blind eyes going between Chris and Hope, "Ooooh so this is the mysterious ex?"

<Hope> Hope glanced between them. "Great. The fuck else have you said, Chris?"

<Christopher> "Maybe you can sober up and we can have a real conversation." Chris toyed with his food starting to lose his appetite.

<Hope> "You'd know all about sobering up wouldn't you?"

<Greer> "Just that he dated someone after he left me and it didn't work out so well... is there more?" The steak was forgotten.

<Hope> "Just dated. Right." Hope got to her feet.

<Greer> Her tail swished out toward the sound and wrapped around Hope's ankle, "Was there more?" she asked again.

<Hope> "I suppose the marriage proposal was just dating. I suppose our dead unborn child was just dating."

<Christopher> "Yeah, just dated. You made that more than clear." Chris glared at her for a minute. "And you're the one that told me to fuck off because I was a monster."

<Greer> Uhoh. That was a lot of not just dating stuff. The feral stirred. "You... you asked her to marry you?" She turned toward Chris, her tail still coiled around Hope, "After how long?"

<Hope> "That comment had nothing to do with your appearance." She glanced back at Greer, startled and a bit confused. "I don't know... a year? Two years? Two."

<Christopher> "And I never asked you. I was going to until you dumped me when I needed someone there for me. You've got no fucking clue how hard all that shit then was on me!"

<Greer> Oh dear... she relaxed her hold on Hope's ankle, gripping the edge of the table hard, her claws cutting into the metal.

<Hope> "I lost our fucking baby because of you! So fuck you!"

<Christopher> "This isn't the time or place for this shit, Hope. Sober the fuck up and you can come talk to me about it later." Chris tried his hardest to reel in his anger.

<Hope> "That's the problem! I am talking to you!" She moved to leave, making a note to kill Shinobi if he didn't go to dinner with her again.

<Greer> There were scents in the air now, strong scents of anger and fear from the other people in the canteen. They could see the tension rising and several in the vicinity retreated to a safe distance. But it was too late to stop the feral letting out a snarl.

<Christopher> "Greer.... Hey, you okay?" Chris just rolled his eyes at Hope, wondering if she was ever going to grow up.

<Hope> Not really thinking or caring, Hope continued on her way, flipping Chris off as she went. She needed to get out of there before the anger faded. And fast.

<Greer> The movement toward her set the feral off in defensive mode and she pounced it.

<Christopher> "Fuck!" This was definitely not good. "Greer, don't!"

<Hope> Hope teleported just as she felt the feral approach, reappearing behind her. "The fuck?!"

<Greer> Tigra's claws dug into the concrete floor as she turned and tried to jump on Hope again.

<Hope> Hope shifted to Shinobi's power and laughed as the kitty lady went through her. "Try harder, bitch!"

<Shinobi> The middle of the day and Jess was drunk, not just drunk, but drunk enough that he had to go get her from the SHIELD canteen area. After she was safely in bed, he decided she needed some food, some coffee... and he needed coffee too. He never expected to walk into this.

<Greer> Tigra roared in frustration but did indeed try again.

<Christopher> Chris tried to get in between the two of them. "Greer Stop!" Fuck I don't have any energy!

<Hope> Hope was still laughing at her. "Come and get me! I'm right here!"

<Shinobi> "Hope!" He started to push his way through the crowd the disturbance had drawn.

<Christopher> "Seriously Hope grow the fuck up! Someone is going to get hurt. Innocent bystanders!" Chris wasn't fast enough or near strong enough to catch Greer.

<Greer> The sound was there but there was nothing solid on the other end. All it did was make her angrier, the feral completely ignoring Chris' attempts at reason.

<Hope> "Smart people will leave," Hope pointed out, reforming just as she heard Shinobi's voice. "Shinobi?" She turned, confused.

<Greer> Impact! The feral delighted as she pinned her surprised prey, claws digging into flesh and the scent of hot, fresh, blood filling her nose.

<Hope> Son of a bitch! Hope shifted to a harder density, punching at the cat.

<Christopher> "FUCK!" Chris didn't know what to do, he needed energy. "Shinobi, hit me as hard as you fucking can. Now!"

<Shinobi> Shinobi may have given his girlfriend's ex the most incredulous look known to mankind. "...what the fuck are you-" His programming kicked in and he remembered the man's file. Kinetic absorption. Just like dear father. Shinobi obliged.

<Greer> All Hope's efforts succeeded in doing was to ensure Tigra's grip tightened, fangs barred as she snarled at her.

<Christopher> Chris grinned a little, finally energy! A nice purple glow started to build up. "Break it the fuck up." He managed to get to them, trying to pull Greer off of Hope.

<Hope> Hope cried out as she winced, the alcohol slowing down her thinking. What to do!?

<Greer> Tigra clawed at the hands that grasped her, keeping one clawed foot on her prey to make sure she kept it.

<Hope> Hope's mind clicked. She shifted to Pietro's powers and tried to escape at top speed.

<Christopher> Chris tried to wrestle Greer into submission, her fighting back only serving to make him stronger. "Enough! Calm down Tigra." He knew the feral was in control and knew he had to show dominance.

<Shinobi> Shinobi waded in and then... Hope was gone.

<Hope> Hope reappeared behind them, watching while she took a bite from an apple, seemingly unbothered by her incredibly scratched up form. "Awwww poor kitty. Anyone have some catnip?"

<Greer> Tigra kicked, clawed and roared her frustration and her rage that her prey had escaped.

<Shinobi> Hearing her voice, he spun around. "What the?" He started for her again. She was bleeding.

<Christopher> Chris wrapped his arms around her tightly. "Get her drunk ass out of here before I let her go and help!" He glared at Shinobi as he struggled to hold Greer.

<Hope> "Let her go. I'm not drunk, you asswipe." She bit down on the apple again.

<Shinobi> The last part of the statement caught his attention and Shinobi turned back to the other man and sneered. Then, he phased to get to Hope more quickly. "Let's go."

<Christopher> "Then you're stupid. Go fuck off somewhere. You started all this shit!"

<Greer> Tigra twisted and turned, attempting to follow the scent of blood to its source over his shoulder.

<Hope> "I..." Hope started to aruge, but listened to Shinobi instead. "Fine."

<Shinobi> He solidified to grab her elbow and start for the door, then looked at her. Hissing, he phased them both and dropped through the floor on the express route to the medical facility.

<Christopher> Chris picked Greer up making sure she couldn't get any purchase on anything but himself. "Come on, room. I'll bring you back something for dinner. Sorry my ex is a bitch...."

<Hope> "Shinobi you're being ridiculous." She tried to stop him so she could at least inspect herself.

<Greer> Reasoning was no good with the feral and she fought him all the way to the door before Greer seized control again and forced herself back into her human form.

<Shinobi> "How am I being ridiculous? You're bleeding and a giant cat woman tried to disembowel you. I saw that!" He was having none of this stopping bullshit.

<Christopher> Chris let her go carefully not wanting to hurt her. "Sorry... I should have ended that before it started."

<Greer> "It wasn't your fault... I guess I'm not ready, yet..." she sighed, "Don't put me down... just get me back to my room and into the shower..."

<Christopher> "Wasn't your fault. She was drunk and being ridiculous." Chris picked her back up and headed off to her room.

<Natasha> Natasha spent much of her day teaching the preschoolers of the compound. Which, coincidentally, meant she got to spend the day with her daughter as well. After her shift, she took Katie by the cafeteria for ice cream before they headed home. While Natasha cleaned up their living space before Clint got home and they could go to dinner, Katie sat happily in her favorite chair and hummed as she ate her ice cream.

<Clint> Clint struggled to get to the door and get it opened. He was sore from all the constant missions and he was pretty sure he had bruises in places he should never get bruises. As he walked in he unholstered his guns and put them well out of reach from Katie and put his sharp pointy objects on the same shelf. For the most part he felt like death, but seeing his beautiful wife and adorable child made him press on.

<Katie> "Daddy Daddy Daddy!" Ice cream abandoned, Katie ran for her father.

<Natasha> Natasha picked up the ice cream before it could spill and moved to her husband with a smile.

<Clint> Clint swept up his daughter with a smile that took more effort than it should have. Why is my face this sore..... "Hello sunshine." Clint held her close as he moved in to kiss his wife. "And my beautiful wife."

<Natasha> Tasha happily returned the kiss, hugging him and their child at the same time. "Welcome home." She was always relieved when he made it back home. Spending all day with their child made it a little better since she didn't have to worry about her too. She gave him another kiss, happy with relief.

<Katie> "I got Ice cream!"

<Clint> "I see... now Daddy's going to be all sticky." Clint gave his little girl a smile before setting her down and pulling Natasha in for a proper hug. "Today was rough...."

<Natasha> Handing the ice cream off to the child to wander off and finish, Natasha then held Clint tightly to her, closing her eyes and resting her head against his chest. "But you're home now. And you're safe. So today? A good day."

<Clint> "It is now." Clint carefully slid his arms around her waist and laid his head on hers. "I think I have more bruises."

<Natasha> "Oh Clint..." she whispered softly, loosening her hold just a bit. "How can I help?"

<Clint> "Already are hun. Already are." Clint kissed the top of her head. "Though I might need help getting out of these clothes when she's gone to bed." He whispered on top of her head knowing she'd hear him.

<Natasha> "Are you sure you're up to that," she asked him, looking up, surprised.

<Clint> "I'm sure you can help me get there." He grinned making sure she knew what he was implying.

<Natasha> "Clint!" She laughed, blushing.

<Clint> "Yes my love?" Clint gave her a playful pinch on the butt to drive her closer to him.

<Natasha> It worked. Natasha laughed as she pressed against him. "We still have to go to dinner, you know. And bathe our child."

<Clint> "Damn, where's a babysitter when you need alone time with a swimsuit model. I mean my wife." Clint smirked. "Shh don't tell her she might get jealous."

<Natasha> Tasha giggled at him, kissing him again. "Well she's busy with ice cream, so we have about... two minutes."

<Clint> "Mmm when did you get so naughty." Clint laughed a little knowing nothing was going to happen besides kissing. "Two minutes alone with you what ever shall I do." He kissed across her jawline slowly.

<Natasha> Smiling, Tasha pressed herself against him and ran her fingers through his hair. "Oh you're creative. You'll think of something."

<Clint> "Mmm if only she had some earplugs and some blinders." Clint gave her butt a squeeze this time his lips still pressed to her neck.

<Natasha> "Clint!" Tasha laughed. She turned her head to kiss his lips instead. "Not while she's awake. What if she sees?"

<Clint> "I know honey I know. Was just pushing my luck." He gave her a slow eskimo kiss.

<Natasha> She smiled at him, returning the eskimo kiss. "I'll go clean her up. Then we can go? I'm really hungry."
<Clint> "Me too, but that'll have to wait." Clint gave her butt a tap as she walked away. "I'll try and peel myself out of this and into a clean uniform at least."

<Natasha> "Much appreciated!" She laughed, going to clean up their sticky child.

<Clint> "I might need help too...." Clint started to peel his shirt off, his muscles protesting to the movement.

<Natasha> "Oh honey..." Tasha handed Katie a coloring book sos he could go to Clint, carefully helping him out of his shirt. "I've got you."

<Clint> "I know. You're the best wife a man could ever hope to have." He kissed her softly. "I should be able to get the rest."

<Natasha> She returned the kiss, smiling. "Thank you, sweet stuff. Just call out if you need me." She gave him one last, lingering look before she went back to the other room.

<Clint> "Pictures last longer." Clint started to undo his pants for her too.

<Natasha> "Clint!" She laughed, retreating.

<Clint> "Yeah sexy?" He was now only left in his briefs.

<Katie> "Daddy Daddy Daddy!" Katie came running for her daddy, carrying her picture for him. "Picture for you!"

<Clint> "Aww thanks honey. Look daddy'll put it right here so he can see it every morning." He laid it on their dresser and gave her forehead a kiss. "Okay go get cleaned up Daddy has to get dressed for dinner."

<Natasha> Katie> The child had other ideas. She climbed up on the bed, bouncing on it. "But I wanna play Agents and Sentinals!"

<Clint> "After dinner before bedtime." Clint got his pants on and went over to scoop her up again. "You don't want to hurt daddy so bad he won't be able to eat dinner right? I don't want to starve!" He gave her his best starving kid look.

<Katie> "Nooo! I'll feed you, Daddy!" She jumped off the bed, nailing her landing. "Mommy mommy! We're gonna play Agents and Sentinals after dinner! You have to be the sentinal!"

<Natasha> Tasha made a face as she scooped up her kid. "There you are! Oh I do? Why am I the bad guy?"

<Clint> "Cuz Daddy's always the good guy who saves the day!" He struck his best super hero pose, giving Natasha a look like he was about to keel over from all her hyper and trying to keep up with it.

<Katie> "Because I'm with Daddy!" Katie moved to pounce on her father.

<Natasha> Tasha just laughed. "Welcome to my world, Mr. Barton. This is your child."

<Clint> The little girl's pounce actually took him down. He laughed to make sure she knew daddy was okay, but it definitely hurt a little bit. "She's definitely Daddy's little girl!"

<Natasha> Hurrying to help them up, Tasha offered Clint a hand. "Are you alright?"

<Clint> "Daddy's always alright." Clint smiled and let her help him up since he needed it.

<Natasha> She stole a quick kiss before taking Katie's hand. "Are you ready for dinner?"

<Katie> "Dinner dinner dinner!"

<Clint> "Mmm Yes dinner." Clint let out a sigh as they started off. "Our little one's trying to kill me...." He whispered to his wife.

<Natasha> "She just loves you so much," Tasha whispered back, giggling.

<Clint> "Loves me to death." Clint kissed Natasha on the cheek.

<Natasha> Giggling more, Natasha just smiled. "Maybe."

<Clint> "Lets just try to teach her to hold back a little after missions." Clint leaned against his wife a little.

<Natasha> "Good luck," was the only advice she had for her husband, leaning back against him.

<Clint> "I know." Clint smiled. "At least she's happy."

<Natasha> "And I keep a lot of the bad from her," Natasha whispered. "So she's happy and safe... as happy and safe as we can give her."

<Clint> "You're the best honey." Clint kissed her ear, pushing his luck again.

<Natasha> Tasha giggled, which caught Katie's attention, causing her to giggle too.

<Clint> "What are you laughing about little one? You're next!" He scooped her up and planted kisses all over her face.

<Katie> Squealing, Katie held onto her daddy's neck tightly.

<Natasha> Natasha's heart just fluttered, watching her husband and their miracle baby.

<Clint> Fully dressed and cleaned up, Clint carried his daughter and held his wife's hand as they headed to get food. "I love you two."

<Hope> Hope did not exactly enjoy being manhandled on the way to the medical lab. After the fight with Tigra, Hope had tired to explain to Shinobi that he was being ridiculous. "You do realize I heal right? And there is absolutely no reason to take me where you are taking me?" Unless it was to make her stare at Shaw and give a lovely lecture about wasting her life.

<Shinobi> Struggling with him while they were going through the floors was not exactly enjoyable for Shinobi, either, so he stopped as soon as they safely could. "Well, are you healing? You should see yourself - you're so bloody I can't tell and you smell like Jess!"

<Hope> "So I may have had some scotch. For all the good it did me." She jerked her arm away and tapped into Shaw's power to heal herself.

<Shinobi> "Some?" He frowned at her reaction, then ignored her to start peeling back layers of clothing to check her over.

<Hope> "Well I'm glad I found some. I have to start over now," she grumbled, but let him inspect her as she healed herself.

<Shinobi> The scratches were closing, and he straightened up. "Start over? And what in hell was going on back there? Who was she?"

<Hope> "Tigra... Chris' ex wife. Who is a feral." Awesome. Just. Awesome.

<Shinobi> "I kind of noticed she's a feral. Also, a giant cat." He made a slight face.

<Hope> "Yeah well. Apparently Chris didn't bother to actually tell her about us other than we dated." She crossed her arm across her chest, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

<Shinobi> Head cocked, he watched her face. "I know you dated as well..."
<Hope> She blinked a little, registering that. "I thought you knew about the rest. It was right around the time you showed up... while Jess was pregnant."

<Shinobi> "There's a rest?" He shook his head, realizing they were near enough to one of the supply rooms for him to at least get her a towel to clean up the blood. Shinobi took her elbow to try to steer her. "I was... well, you know I wasn't exactly at my best when I first arrived."

<Hope> She was steered this time, not protesting since it wasn't the direction of the medical lab. "I lost a baby because of his stupidity." It slipped out before she could rephrase it, but there it was.

<Shinobi> Shinobi stopped walking and stared at her, wide-eyed.

<Hope> The stop caught her attention. She turned to face him again. "It's not like I ever wanted a kid. But.... it was a Stark." She swallowed a bit. And now she was the only Stark left. "Anyway." She looked down instead of at him. "He was also going to propose. So I ran. Like I do."

<Shinobi> "I see..." He watched her, even though she wasn't looking at him. "So, you ran, because of that, not because... of him?"

<Hope> "Actually..." she shook her head no. "But when it wasn't that serious it wasn't a big deal. But forever with him?" She cringed a bit.

<Shinobi> "Okay." He nodded understanding, he thought. Remembering what he was doing, he ducked into the supply room to grab those towels. "Apparently, marriage wasn't so forever for him either, if the cat woman was his wife," he pointed out.

<Hope> She laughed a little, tucking her hair behind her ear. "Yeah. Guess so. Sorry... I uh... I thought you knew all that or I would have told you sooner."

<Shinobi> "No... I," he cut himself off and shook his head. "It doesn't matter now, right?" Shinobi took her hand again to go into a lab and found the sink. "Let's get you cleaned up a little... then we can go get you some new clothes?"

<Hope> Hope laced their fingers, not wanting to let go of him. "Sounds like a good plan."

<Shinobi> He looked down at their fingers and swallowed, his gaze traveling slowly up to her face. The lump returned to his throat and he tried to swallow it down again.

<Hope> She didn't need telepathy to know something was wrong. She stopped again, pulling to have him stop too. "Shinobi?"

<Shinobi> "It's nothing," he said, taking a deep breath and deciding he didn't care about the blood. Pulling her close, he folded his arms around her. "It just caught up to me."

<Hope> Hope was baffled and slightly stunned. She wrapped her arms around him, trying to figure this out without reading his mind. "What did?"

<Shinobi> "Seeing you injured." He closed his eyes and held on.

<Hope> She swallowed the urge to laugh. "It used to happen a lot more. Viper seems to think my brains are highly valuable or it would happen more now." She snuggled into him though.

<Shinobi> He was quiet for what felt like a long time. "You said no secrets... and you just assumed I knew things, but I think I assumed you knew things as well."

<Hope> Glancing up at him, Hope pulled back just enough so she could see him. "What do you think I know?"

<Shinobi> "What I did? Why SHIELD kept me?" He swallowed again and forced himself not to look away from her.

<Hope> Hope searched her memories, struggling to remember. "I... guess I don't know after all." She kept her eyes on his.

<Shinobi> "Of course, that was the second time SHIELD had me in custody. After they lost me once to William Stryker." Finally he looked down.

<Hope> The name alone brought shudders to her, forcing her to look down too, kind of glad he still had a hold on her.

<Shinobi> He took a deep breath. "I'm so very sorry, for what I did..."

<Hope> "Shinobi... what did you do? Exactly?" She swallowed, bracing herself mentally.

<Shinobi> "At the 2016 debate... we were ordered to remove all democratic candidates..."

<Hope> She felt cold, even though she wasn't using Bobby's power. She backed away from him, leaning against the closest wall. She remembered that debate. She had been on stage. It came rushing back all at once, the waving, the flags. And the gunshot. "You..."

<Shinobi> "Yeah, me, and Anne Marie Cortez." He couldn't look at her now and so he took the towels to the sink to run some water.

<Hope> Hope slid down that wall to the floor, pulling her knees to her chest. She hadn't thought about that in a long, long time. "Fabian's sister."

<Shinobi> "Yes." His own memories from that time, even years later, were still garbled. Turning off the water, he cleared his throat and wrung out the towel. "I'm sorry."

<Hope> "That bitch turned me into War," she mumbled into her knees. "And one of you shot me."

<Shinobi> "There were others... Stryker created a team. She was the leader."
<Hope> Hope stayed where she was, swallowing hard. "Yeah... I remember multiple shooters."

<Shinobi> He turned around and took in her posture. "You probably remember more than me. There's nothing I can do to change what happened, but I'm sorry."

<Hope> It took Hope some time before she responded. "Thank you. For telling me. And for being sorry."

<Shinobi> Nodding, he went to her and held out the towel. "Whatever Stryker did, whatever Cortez did... I can't remember most of it. SHIELD captured me and not the rest, and it was only because the... whatever they did... it snapped. I snapped. So they caught me, but because of what I was and what was done to me, they couldn't prosecute. So they kept me, until Sebastian took custody of me."

<Hope> Taking the towel, she barely wiped her face a bit, looking up at him. "I know what it's like to do terrible things against your will."

<Shinobi> Shinobi crouched, nodding. "I know you do... I'm sorry for my part in that, too." On second thought, he moved against the wall a safe distance from her and drew his knees up to rest his forehead on them.

<Hope> She wiped her face a little again. "It's not like you asked for the job." She found it slightly weird that he was instrumental in the worst times of her life.

<Shinobi> "No." He snorted a harsh laugh. "I was made for it."

<Hope> The laugh sent chills through her. She hugged her knees again, tighter.

<Shinobi> Who was he kidding that he could be normal? He had no idea what it really was, did he?

<Hope> She became acutely aware that she needed time to think. She shifted to Pietro's power, immediately relieved by the fact that time was moving so much more slowly for him. It gave her time to think, time to process. She scrubbed her arms, realizing how much blood she had lost. It was all over her!

<Hope> She looked over at Shinobi, struggling with the weight of what he had told her. He was created to be a killer. What if he snapped again? Was he a threat? She felt stupid and guilty even thinking that.

<Hope> Here was the man who had picked her up off the floor and helped her put the pieces back together. Nothing about that past changed who he was in front of her. She moved over to him, placing her hand gently on his arm as she dropped Pietro's power.

<Shinobi> Startled from his dark thoughts, he sniffled then tried to wipe his face before looking at her. "This... wasn't what I intended. I should be taking care of you... Do you want me to get somebody to help you?"

<Hope> "I already have someone," she reminded him, resting her head against his shoulder.

<Shinobi> He sucked in a breath and then nodded and haltingly turned toward her to put his arms around her again.

<Hope> Hope slid closer to him, holding onto him tightly. "If something ever happens here... if the unthinkable happens... I need you close."

<Shinobi> Confused, he tried to catch her eyes.

<Hope> "I'm not... I can't... I won't. I won't lose anyone else." She didn't look at his eyes.

<Shinobi> "I'll do my best not to die then," he said with a ragged laugh.

<Hope> Hope pressed her forehead against his. "I mean it. I can't do anything if you aren't close."

<Shinobi> Touched, he nodded. "If anything happens... I have to protect Miriam, too. You know that... Miriam, and Jess... it's what my father asked me to do. So, we should all stick together."

<Hope> She nodded, understanding that. "Just move Paige and Ripley in too. One big family," she half joked.

<Shinobi> "One big family," he agreed. "I... kind of like that idea."

<Hope> "Until Bobby freaks out and freezes us all."

<Clint> Clint sat in the infirmary from his latest attempt to make new more pointy things, things with a bigger bang so he liked to put it. "Ouch, hey! That stings." He tried not to jerk when they stitched up all his gashes. "You didn't say anything to Natasha right?" He groaned when one of the nurses wouldn't make eye contact with him.

<Natasha> It only took Natasha as long as it took to find her substitute and run across the base to get to the medical lab before she was there. "Clint!? Where is he?!" She was quickly directed to where he was. "Clint!?" She stared at her husband, trying to process all the damage done to him.

<Clint> "Hey baby." Clint winced again when they got a tender spot. "Hey now! Watch the giblets."

<Natasha> Impatiently waiting, Natasha took in the various cuts on him, wanting to go hold him. "Oh Clint... what happened?"

<Clint> "I might have accidentally activated a small uhmm explosive device. And it might have be on a glass table." Clint gave her a small smile. "You really didn't need to come down."

<Natasha> She gave him a look. "If it were me on that bed?"

<Clint> "You would have dodged?" Clint bit his lip still smiling, mostly expecting her to hit him.

<Natasha> She wrinkled her nose at him. "Clint!"

<Clint> "Ow. Hey that's barely even bleeding!" Clint tried to protest but shut his mouth when he saw the look on his wife's face.

<Natasha> "My point exactly." She crossed the room, pulling up a chair to sit beside him. "I take it that it hurts a lot?"

<Clint> "I've had worse." He rubbed over one of the larger bandages, letting out a big sigh when the doctors finally finished and left them. "Oh thank god."

<Natasha> Tasha whacked his arm before wrapping her arms around him protectively. "Oh my sweet Clint. I'm glad you are alive."

<Clint> "Ow!" Clint bit his lip. "It really wasn't that bad." He carefully slipped his arms around his wife knowing even though he tried to tell her he was fine she was worried.

<Natasha> She nuzzled his cheek very carefully. "Are you ok?"

<Clint> "I was fine, but I'm better now." Clint kissed Natasha softly. "I was hoping they wouldn't bug you with this."

<Natasha> "You know I want to be here," she pointed out, nuzzling him and kissing him softly. "And I'm glad you are ok."

<Clint> "Aren't I always?" Clint said with a hint of cockiness in his tone. "Katie being a good girl for her mommy?"

<Natasha> "Of course not. She's your child," Tasha laughed, sighing.

<Clint> "Throwing pencils at teddy bears again?" Clint kissed her nose. "I swear I didn't teach her that." He couldn't keep a straight face when he told her that.

<Natasha> "You liiiie!" Tasha laughed at him again, kissing the tip of his nose.

<Clint> Clint tickled her a little. "So, wanna help me out of this uncomfortable bed and back to our comfortable bed?"

<Natasha> She laughed at the tickling. "Are you clear to leave? Do they need to do x-rays or anything?"

<Clint> "Lets go before we find out!" He smiled and kissed her softly.

<Natasha> "Ooorrrrr, how about I go find a doctor?" She kissed his forehead.

<Clint> "I'm fine, I was just kidding honey. I've gone through all the tests and crap, they were just stitching me up when you got here. I'm sure I'll have to come back for a check up or something but I'll talk to them about that later I promise."

<Natasha> She chewed on her lip a bit. "Well.. if you're sure..."

<Clint> "You know I'm tougher than look." He eased off of the with a decent couple of winces. "I'll be right as rain after a little bit. You gonna check to make sure all my bits are attached?" Clint stretched a little.

<Natasha> "Not until you are well again," she told him, holding out her hands to help him up. "And that doesn't mean you think you are. That means the doctor tells me  you are fine."

<Clint> "Damn.... I think I need a new proffession." Clint  took one of her hands in his. "Or better doctors."

<Natasha> She kissed his hand with a smile. "Or a better wife?"

<Clint> "Nope, aint any of those out there." He smiled back to her and grabbed his clothes. "Maybe a tailor...."

<Natasha> "I can take a look," she offered. "I can sew a little." She held out her hand for the clothes.

<Clint> "You're just perfect aren't you?" Clint handed his clothes over to her. "They'll probably need cleaned first, I think I bled a lot."

<Natasha> "Not perfect. I'll get this fixed up and back to you soon," she promised, holding onto his soiled clothing. "Ready to go get our baby?"

<Clint> "No she climbs." Clint gave her his most terrified look he could muster.

<Natasha> "Well we can't take her back for a refund," she laughed, taking his arm.

<Clint> "We can't.... I don't remember agreeing to this? Can't we like trade with Illyana or Paige?"

<Natasha> "You want the teleporting and speeding toddlers? Are you nuts?!"

<Clint> "You have a point. At least Katarina doesn't have powers yet...." Clint leaned against Natasha briefly as they walked to the pre-school area.

<Natasha> "Do you think she will?" She looked up at him as she questioned him.

<Clint> "With the most awesome parents in this place. Probably something really cool."

<Natasha> "I don't know... if I want her to. If I had the choice..."

<Clint> "I know Natasha, but our little girl will be safe no matter what. I'll never let those things touch a hair on her."

<Natasha> Pausing, Natasha pulled him to her, hugging him tightly. "Thank you, Clint."

<Clint> "Ooof, but not if you kill me first." Clint hugged her back as best he could.

<Natasha> "Sorry!" She laughed, releasing him. "Sorry."

<Clint> "Maybe you should just be the family protector. Natasha the squeezer!" Clint teased his wife, not letting go of her just yet.

<Natasha> "I thought that was my job," she teased back, kissing the tip of his nose.

<Clint> "Aww I guess I just get to be the space heater then. And jungle gym." Clint kissed her nose back.

<Natasha> "You make a wonderful space heater," she laughed, kissing him softly. "I'm glad you are ok. I don't know what I'd do without you."

<Clint> "Move on to a man that doesn't try to get himself killed all the time? And I think I'll be a good space heater for a while, doc says I'm supposed to rest till I'm healed up. So lots of cuddling and story time?"

<Natasha> "Now that sounds like a great plan! I can leave you with Katie tomorrow," she half joked.

<Clint> "You just never want me to heal do you?" Clint jerked a little when one of his stitches pulled.

<Natasha> "Of course I do! But I am also going to enjoy you being home for a change."

<Clint> "Well I'm all yours and that beautiful little girl's for a while. Get your fill of me I'm sure you'll be sick of it soon." He grinned.

<Natasha> "Oh maybe. But I'm excited to get the chance to try to be sick of you." She laced their hands together, pulling him on toward their home.

<Clint> "Maybe I'll teach Katie a few new tricks." Clint followed his wife steadily. "Though.... bed does sounds really good right now." He yawned, all the excitement had taken a lot out of him.

<Natasha> "I'll get you tucked in before I go get her. Want us to bring dinner back to you, so you can have a nap?"

<Clint> "Well I'd rather my two favorite girls in the world nap with me, but that would be okay too. Just don't cause a fuss over my stupidity."

<Natasha> "It's too late for her to nap," Tasha pointed out. "She'll be up all night. Which means she WILL stay home with you tomorrow if that happens." She kissed his cheek. "We'll get you something good for dinner."

<Clint> "You're such a spoil sport." Clint smiled and kissed her cheek back. "Drugs then nap! I think I have some pain killers somewhere? Or just nap. I'm not that bad." He smiled wondering if there were really any pain killers hidden anywhere from the last injury he sustained.

<Natasha> "Oh Clint," Tasha laughed, sighing. "I'll get you some more."

<Clint> "Pfft I'm tough enough, those are sissy candy." He opened the door to their room and smiled a little at how cozy they'd made it.

<Natasha> "Well I'll get them all the same," she assured him, closing the door behind them.

<Clint> "You really are perfect." Clint went towards their bed sitting down to take his boots off.

<Natasha> Tasha smiled and fluffed his pillow for him. "I want to make sure you are taken care of!"

<Clint> "You don't have to do all this beautiful." Clint ran a hand up her thigh to her hip.

<Natasha> Tasha smiled, taking his hand and kissed it. "I love you, Clint."

<Clint> "I love you more." He grinned up at her.

<Paige> Paige waddled toward the cafeteria, grateful for a change of scenery. She had grown far too accustomed to eating in her room, which meant alone when Ripley was gone. Change was good. She rounded a corner as a familiar face approached from the opposite way. Her face lit up upon seeing him. "Phil!" He was alright!

<Phil> It stung more than he wanted to admit, but Phil kept walking, right past her.

<Paige> Startled by that, She grabbed his arm to stop him. "Phil..."

<Phil> He swallowed, but glanced around before turning to her. "What, Paige?"

<Paige> She bit her lip slightly. "I'm... I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry. I had no idea..."

<Phil> "Don't give me that line, Paige. You knew. You've always known what he's capable of. Why do you think Lorna was going to divorce him? Because he's unstable and dangerous."

<Paige> "Phil! How can you say that?" Paige stared at him. What had happened? He and Bobby had been friends. Phil had been the one who told Bobby to ask her out in the first place. Now he was turning on him? "He's not like that."

<Phil> He looked around again before grabbing her somewhat roughly on the arms and pushing her into a storage closet, despite her sounds of protest. "Paige. Listen to me. How many times did you talk to me about wanting to go to colleges and warn women about the signs of an abusive relationship?"

<Paige> Paige backed up just a bit, blinking a few times. "I don't know, a lot? What does that have to do with Bobby?"

<Phil> "It has everything to do with Bobby! You went from one abusive relationship to another to another. First Eve... then Rachel was so controlling and jealous she would attack anyone who got near you... and now Bobby does the same thing."

<Paige> She stared at him, stunned. "How can you say that?! You know that wasn't him! You know that's not him!"

<Phil> He placed his hands on the side of her face gently, the tips of his fingers through her hair slightly. "Paige... That is the real him. This is the real him. He's not even human anymore, Paige. He's a cold, callous, mass of ice."

<Paige> She backed away from him, fumbling for the door. "You're wrong. You are so wrong. You're supposed to be his friend, Phil! You're supposed to be MINE!"

<Phil> "How many people has he killed? How many of your friends has he attacked." He didn't pursue her, instead turned around in a small circle, hands through his own hair. "I don't want to be your friend. I want more than that."

<Paige> Disbelief washed over Paige, followed by recognition. She swallowed, backing herself to the door. "No."

<Phil> He watched her, feeling the weight of her single word reply. "No? You're really going to stay with him after all that? After everything?"

<Paige> Her instinct was to touch him, to comfort him. But she kicked it down and pushed it aside, choosing her words carefully. "Yes. I am staying with my husband, and even if I wasn't, I would not be with you. Goodbye, Phil. I'm sorry I forced this conversation. Stay. Away. From me."

<Paige> On the other side of the door, Paige could hear him destroying the closet behind her. She closed her eyes and covered her mouth, leaning on the door. 1. She needed to get out of there and away from him before he opened that door. 2. She needed to get out of there before Bobby or anyone saw her and told Bobby she had been with Phil in a closet. 3. She needed to check her vitals.

<Paige> Plan in place, Paige shoved off the wall and made for the medical lab. A couple of tests, some ice cream, and she would be fine, she told herself. Just fine. Just fine. Just fine. "Just fine," she whispered, already feeling the tears on her face. Nothing was just fine.

<Hope> Obtaining the cigarettes had been far easier than she had expected. Hope stared at the pack as it just sat there, on the table of her room. She leaned forward, placing her chin on the table. Did she want one? She did want one. Should she have one? She should not have one.

<Hope> Maybe just one wouldn't hurt. Maybe just one would help. She drummed her fingers on the table, debating with herself. What should she do?

<Shinobi> Though he knew he should be on his nearly daily hunt for his stepmother, Shinobi was frustrated enough he needed a break. Either Viper had said something to the SHIELD agents, or they were hiding her now, but today he hadn't located her yet, and even if he did, there was the little matter of her being coherent enough to listen to him.

<Shinobi> He found himself at Hope's door without really thinking about it and knocked. "Hey, it's me... are you home?"

<Hope> Hope jumped at the knock, jolted out of her fixation on the cigarette pack. She moved to the door, opening it with a genuine smile. "Hey."

<Shinobi> "Hey!" He returned the smile and stepped into the doorway to greet her with a hug.
<Hope> In one fluid motion, Hope had the door shut and her arms wrapped securely around him, breathing in his familiar scent.

<Shinobi> A little surprised, but pleasantly so, he bowed his head to hold her, closing his eyes. "How are you?"

<Hope> The laugh slipped out before she could stop it. "Next question, please."

<Shinobi> "That good? I would have to agree." He gave her a squeeze.

<Hope> That caused her to look up at him, reaching up to touch his cheek. "Yeah. That good."

<Shinobi> Since a distraction seemed in order, he searched her face for a moment, then bent to kiss her.

<Hope> The distraction worked. Hope forgot about the cigarettes on the table, about the scotch she was craving, and about the reasons she wanted both of them. Her head swam a bit, her focus went entirely into kissing him and pulling him closer.

<Shinobi> He pushed his fingers into the hair at the base of her skull and guided her closer, almost roughly, to deepen the kiss.

<Hope> Hope slid her fingers up under his shirt, keeping herself pressed against him. Her other hand shifted up to his hair, sliding through it.

<Shinobi> Feeling the scrape of her nails on his skin, he growled and moved, backing her up to the table and breaking the kiss to move his attention to her throat.

<Hope> Instantly Hope had both of her hands sliding to take Shinobi's shirt off. He had such good ideas. How could she pass this one up?

<Shinobi> ((:naughty))

<Shinobi> Some time later, he flopped back onto the table, ignoring the creak of protest, and panted. Staring up at the ceiling, he urged her to join him so he could keep stroking her hair.

<Hope> Hope did just that, carefully laying on top of him, though she did wince at the creak. She slipped her arm around him, pulling herself close to him.

<Shinobi> Shifting to get more comfortable while he caught his breath, something stabbed his side. He reached to move it, coming up with a red pack of Marlboro cigarettes. "This yours?" he said, eyebrow raised as he looked at her.

<Hope> She started to protest. The thought occurred to her that after what they had just done... a 'no' answer could sound very bad. She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair, shifting uncomfortably. "Kinda?"

<Shinobi> "I didn't know you smoked." He flipped the pack open, one-handed, and sniffed at the contents. Not completely stale, either, and with just a few missing.

<Hope> "I don't... or well.. I haven't. I used to. Before I became War..." she trailed off, staring at the sticks still in the pack. Her hand trembled a bit as she resisted the urge to reach for it. After sex was perfect smoking time.

<Shinobi> "Sudden craving?" He was catching on now, and watched her face.

<Hope> "Maybe." She should look away. She should look at him, at the ceiling, at a purple elepahnt... anything, anywhere.

<Shinobi> He shook one down and tipped the pack up, closing his lips around one cigarette to pull it out, keeping his eyes on her the entire time.

<Hope> She licked her lips, watching him carefully.

<Shinobi> Shinobi smirked around the cig. "Got a light?"

<Hope> Wordlessly she reached for the pack. The agent had said he put a lighter in there.

<Shinobi> He let her take it, rolling the cigarette around a bit.

<Hope> A cigarette had to go into her mouth before she dug for the lighter, fumbling with it to get it to light.

<Shinobi> Pushing himself up on his elbow, he cocked his head to watch. "Would you like me to do it?"

<Hope> She held out the lighter to him, swallowing hard. "Here."

<Shinobi> My, she was more attracted to these cigarettes than she was to him. He lit up his own, taking a deep drag, and plucked hers from her mouth and dropped it back into the pack.

<Hope> She blinked a bit, surprised. Confused, she looked up at him, studying him for clues.

<Shinobi> He turned his head to blow out a cloud of smoke, but kept his eyes on her. "These can kill you, you know." Smirking, he plucked it from his lips and expertly flipped the cigarette around to offer it to her.

<Hope> "Doubtful," she muttered, taking the cigarette as nonchalantly as she could. She stared at the lit stick in front of her, just holding it.

<Shinobi> Licking his lips, he couldn't decide how he felt about the taste in his mouth. But, while she was distracted, he slid the rest of the pack and the lighter behind him. "Yeah, enough things want to kill us..."

<Hope> "I have a lovely ability to heal my body," she reminded him, moving the cigarette toward her lips. She stopped and shoved the thing onto the underside of the table, putting it out. She made a move to carefully get up from the table to get the scotch.

<Shinobi> "Oh, I know." He sat up to watch her appreciatively, then remembered to shove the pack into a pocket of his pants, which were still thrown over the chair. "It's far from your only lovely quality."

<Hope> Grinning, Hope pulled out the bottle from under her bed. She found a glass on the night table and poured herself a decent serving before setting the bottle down. She took the glass and returned to him on the table. "I think my best quality was picking you out," she kissed him once she was back on the table.

<Shinobi> "Oh, that's just logical decision-making." He returned the kiss, thankful that the table was sturdy. In fact, he was ready to test it again.

<Hope> "Very logical," She returned the kiss, sliding her free hand up to the back of his neck.

<Shinobi> He smoothed his hand over her hip and pulled her close, and once she was thoroughly distracted, took the glass from her hand and put it aside on the chair. With a grin, he rolled her beneath him on the table.

<Hope> This time when they were done, Hope lay on her bed, eyes closed and smiling. She sighed contently, shifting slightly to better lay on the pillow. "Mmm Shinobi."

<Shinobi> His arm around her, he nuzzled into her sweat-dampened hair. "That would be me, yeah."

<Hope> She nuzzled him back, laughing a little. "You happen to be a damn good boyfriend," she informed him, turning to kiss him lazily.

<Shinobi> "Thanks." He nipped at her lower lip, brushing her hair back. "You're not so bad yourself." Eyes closed, he realized he was enjoying this probably too much.

<Hope> Laughing, she moved to nestle into him. "I'm glad you came by," she admitted, fingers running over his chest.

<Shinobi> "Me too." He went back to nuzzling her hair. "Much better than the rest of my day."

<Hope> "Aww, babe, tell me about that." Her fingers moved up his chest, neck, and rested on his cheek, stroking it gingerly.

<Shinobi> His eyes slid closed and he sighed. The endearment didn’t go unnoticed and it gave him an unfamiliar warm feeling. "I can't find Jess and Miriam is asking questions."

<Hope> Sighing, Hope nodded. "I guess you can only distract her for so long."

<Shinobi> "She still won't believe you were able to reach Sebastian, and I haven't seen her sober for a week." He shook his head.

<Hope> "Neither of those statements are surprising. She doesn’t listen to anyone and is incapable of accepting the fact that things aren't about her. Coming from me? That's a pretty harsh accusation." She sighed, scrubbing her face. "Things have to be on her terms."

<Shinobi> "But now it's worse." He rolled toward her and buried his face in the pillow. It smelled like her, which made it that much sweeter.

<Hope> Smiling, Hope sat up and rubbed his back, kissing the back of his head. "Of course Shaw will wake up. Even if I hadn't looked into his mind, I know that. Jess gets the happy endings. It may not be the best path to get there, but she does. Always. Every time."

<Shinobi> He twisted to look back over his shoulder at her. "Jess always gets the happy endings?"

<Hope> "She has the fairy godmother... Viper. She has the prince that she married. Yeah bad shit happens, but really? It always works out for her." She shrugged, brushing his hair back a bit.

<Shinobi> He reached up and hooked her hair to tuck it behind her ear. "I'm not sure about that, but I hope you're right about my... Sebastian. Viper told me Jess is pregnant."

<Hope> Of course Jess was pregnant. Hope kept her expression the same, not betraying any emotions about that news. "Well... I always felt she was more ridiculous when pregnant. That explains her behavior even more. If she even still is with all that alcohol. She probably drank me under a table." She reached out to his hand, putting it back to her cheek so she could nuzzle it.

<Shinobi> "Exactly, since she doesn't know." He stroked her cheek and watched her face. "And Viper won't tell her."

<Hope> "Surely you don't want me to tell her..." she gave him a doubtful look, pressing her hand over his still.

<Shinobi> "No..." He made a face. "Yes?" Laughing slightly, he kissed her cheek. "I just know that I'm getting very tired of her."

<Hope> "As soon as Sebastian wakes up, you'll be rid of her for a while," Hope told him optimistically. She nuzzled him, pulling him in for a soft kiss. "I can tell her... but I make no promises on how well it will go."

<Shinobi> "You're her friend, but I'm..." He wasn't exactly sure, especially since he'd woken up with her in his bed, and had to carry her home at least four times. Shaking his head, he kissed her again.

<Hope> "I don't even know if we're friends anymore. Maybe, kind of. Haven't talked to her since she got here." She shifted a bit. "Maybe I should..."

<Shinobi> "Not about that though. It's not your responsibility, but I'm just not sure how to actually do it when she's so drunk she can't even understand what I'm saying to her."

<Hope> "Tie her up until she's sober?" Hope offered, kissing on his cheek and neck.

<Shinobi> "I think that's probably a good idea, especially since she can't blast me." He tipped his head back to let her have access and stroked his hands over her curves. "That cuff..."

<Hope> "Why does she still have it on?" She asked, moving to his throat, then up to his lips.

<Shinobi> "So she can get drunk," he mumbled, now more interested in the kiss.

<Hope> "So, oops, maybe it should break." Hope kissed down his neck again.

<Shinobi> He grinned, closing his eyes. "That's an excellent idea."

<Hope> Grinning, Hope moved to where she could plant soft kisses on his face. "Break it, then break the news to her. All you can do is give her the news. It's up to her what she does with it. You certainly have your hands full," she told him, going back to kissing him softly.

<Shinobi> "I certainly do," he chuckled, giving her hips a squeeze and pulling her close.

<Hope> She grinned back at him, kissing him lightly. "And what do you plan to do about that?" She toyed with his hair a bit, kissing the end of his nose.

<Shinobi> "All sorts of things," he smirked, one hand moving to the back of her head and toying with her hair.

<Hope> She couldn't hide her own smirk. Jess could wait. She had more... important things to take care of. Hope kissed him again and tried to forget about all of that and just enjoy the man she cared about.

<Carol> Carol had finally ventured out of her room for long enough to grab a quick snack and some coffee and was catching up with all the other news around the base. That another former X-man had been found was good news but not so the mess she'd made in the canteen. One thing she couldn't fault Hydra on though was their clean-up crew. They were fast and thorough. Probably from years of experience covering their asses from SHIELD.

<Bobby> He had actually managed to walk Ripley to one of her little school activities. Paige would be so proud. Well, she was proud, but she was also napping, so he lingered in the cafeteria, attempting so socialize. Unfortunately, after what he'd done to Phil, he was pretty much a pariah.

<Carol> Carol spotted a familiar icicle and headed over once she'd finished catching up, "Bobby?" the surprise of seeing him actually in a room with other people registered in her voice.

<Bobby> "Carol?" He echoed her tone, though it was somewhat ruined by his odd, hollow voice.

<Carol> "You're not in the pipes!" she grinned, "Good for you!" She decided that deserved a hug, and also she was in a good mood anyway.

<Bobby> If he could freeze any harder, he would, but the contact was... nice. "Nope... I-I'm trying not to... um, I told Paige I wouldn't..." He gave her an awkward pat and tried to escape. "Trying to be less... crazy."

<Carol> "Less crazy is good." She nodded, letting go to look at her coffee icicle. "Huh..." she frowned at it, using her powers to warm it up after holding it out at arm's length. "How's the less crazy working out for you?"

<Bobby> Bobby backed away from her and shrugged. "I'm here? That count?"

<Carol> "I guess?" Her eyes swept the room of SHIELD agents, an eyebrow going up at the looks Bobby was getting from some of them. "Wanna go somewhere else?"

<Bobby> He attempted a smile at an agent who promptly flipped him off. "Yeah... that might be good."

<Carol> "I'll yell at them later, don't worry about it." She inclined her head toward the door before heading out of it.

<Bobby> "W-why?" He watched the back of her head, but still looked back once at the others, who were still glaring. "After what I did to Phil... they're right."

<Carol> "No, they're not," she stopped in the hall to face him, "We've all been through hell, Bobby. We're all each other has so we have to learn to forgive each other when shit doesn't work out right or it gets on top of us. That's what happened to you, it got on top of you and you're sorry. They just need to let it go."

<Bobby> Bobby just stared at her, not sure it was so simple.

<Carol> "What? You know how many agents I've put through walls? Seriously, go look it up. They have specialties in wall survival in the lab now."

<Bobby> "But you do it because... well whatever... but I-I-I... well I lost control." The wall behind him was beginning to frost.

<Carol> "Yeah, I know. It happens... it's not your fault. What matters is that you're sorry - they're just forgetting that right now.... most of the time I'm not sorry." She gave a half shrug and sipped her coffee.

<Bobby> "H-how is it not my fault?! I lost control! That's like... the one thing I can never do and I did it ... all the time."

<Carol> "Bobby, listen to yourself... plenty of people in here can kill people if they lose control for a second - I'm one of those people and I have the worst temper. I know what it's like, the first few times I beat myself up for it but after a while... people got to know that they shouldn't push my buttons so it makes it easier to think the fault is partly on them too... even if that's not true."

<Carol> She pushed a hand through her hair, "I'm not saying Phil pushed your buttons or anything like that, I'm just saying that there's a level of understanding around here that they're not applying to you for whaever reason and that's not fair. They're forgetting all the good you've done for this one thing."

<Bobby> "My buttons usually... I-I mean, i just don't do that! I don't snap... but then... and now..." He gave up with a sigh and rubbed both hands over his head, a gesture leftover from when he still had hair.

<Carol> "It's not your fault, your emotions are all messed up in that form. Cut yourself some slack or I'm going to stain you with my coffee."

<Bobby> "I wasn't sure I even still had them... not until Paige..." He shook his head, then almost laughed, though it came out strange and choked.

<Carol> "Well then it kind of helped, you're still human in there somewhere. You just have to stop beating yourself up so much, jeez. No wonder you're going around turning people into pincusions, all that pent up rage. You need a healthier outlet."

<Bobby> "I can't touch my healthier outlets..." he mumbled.

<Carol> "Then find some new ones," Carol rolled her eyes, "I thought you were supposed to be smart?"

<Bobby> "Why are you so helpful and... well, nice?" Bobby gave her a wary look.

<Carol> "I'm always helpful... but I will give you the nice, I'm not always that." She smiled, "I got good news this week."

<Bobby> "Yeah?" He hadn't heard much in the way of news at all, since he was either still hiding or trying to spend time with Paige and Ripley without being crazy.

<Carol> "Viper sent me on a rescue mission earlier this week... she didn't tell me who it was I was going to get, which is not unusual... but this time I get why she did it." Best surprise ever. "It was Cessily."

<Bobby> That took a minute to process, but when it did, one of the most sincere smiles he'd managed in the last six months spread across his face. "Yeah?! Cess! Cess is okay! I mean... is she okay? You're all happy s-so she must be okay! That's... that's great!"

<Carol> "She's fine... well, she was experimented on again so that part's still awkward but she's still herself so... yeah." Carol's smile grew, "We've kinda been camping out in my room..."

<Bobby> "I bet." He laughed. "Wow, that's great!" He was stuck on this point, and almost hugged her before he remembered and flailed a little to back up.

<Carol> Carol raised an eyebrow at the flail, "Did you just flail out of a hug? What's the matter with you? I'm a hugger now."

<Bobby> "Yeah, but I can't..." Except he could with Carol, and he probably could with Cess too... Nodding to himself, he threw himself at her and hugged, tightly.

<Carol> Carol laughed and hugged him back, making him creak with a squeeze, "You don't have to worry about breaking me, okay? I'm tough - I've been to the moon and everything. If you need a hug, you can have a hug."

<Bobby> He nodded and he really liked the hug, although he didn't want to admit it. "I wanna see Cessy... when she's up to it. That's just... seeing her? It'd make things a little better... like home again."

<Carol> "I'm sure that can be arranged, I know she'd be pleased to see you too. I notice that about anyone we get back from your school... the first thing they do is ask who else is here. You're all family, I like that."

<Bobby> "Yeah... I heard they brought somebody else in a few days ago, but I don't know who... I've been, um, busy."

<Carol> Carol nodded, "Yeah, there was a helluva mess in the canteen there because of it... feral mutant got provoked the way I heard it," she tried to remember the name but all she could recall was the description, "Some tiger-striped woman, I forget the name."

<Bobby> "Tiger stripes..." Bobby huffed an echoing laugh and shook his head. "Greer."

<Carol> "Yeah... I feel like maybe we're turning a corner with finding people... I hope so anyway."

<Bobby> "Maybe so... there're still a lot of people to find though..."

<Carol> "I know... trying not to get my hopes up but it's been so long since any of us had anything to really hope for..."

<Bobby> Aaaand there went his mood. "Yeah. Tell me about it." Bobby crossed his arms and shifted, the ice creaking.

<Carol> Carol's mood dipped too and she frowned, weighing up the remains of her coffee. "Think fast, frosty!" she threw it at him.

<Bobby> "Fu-" He froze most of the coffee in mid-air, but some managed to hit his chest, dotting him with brown. "Thanks."

<Carol> She laughed, "Nice try." The frozen coffee shattered on the floor. "... Much as I would love to watch the guessing game with whoever comes to clean that up, I've had an idea."

<Bobby> He shifted and filtered his ice to clear the brown stain, his expression disgusted. "I look like a dog took a dump on me..."

<Carol> She giggled again, "I told you I would do that... Now, come with me. You need to have some fun."

<Bobby> "Fun? I don't think I do fun anymore...." Well, he was supposed to be trying, wasn't he? "I mean... I'm... fuck. I dunno what I mean."

<Carol> "Just try it, will you? It won't kill you." She rolled her eyes and started off down the hall, "Don't make me get more coffee."

<Bobby> "What do you want me to try?" He followed her, curious despite himself.

<Carol> "Fun stuff. Not boring defending your life stuff. Your ice powers are awesome but this place... doesn't really make room for awesome... which sucks." She was heading for the hangar, "My powers are also awesome. So we should combine the awesome into epic and blow off some steam... and before your brain goes to the gutter, no I do not mean sex."

<Bobby> He stopped.

<Carol> Carol paused and looked over her shoulder, "What? Oh lighten up..." she rolled her eyes.

<Bobby> "M-my powers were awesome, but... but now they fucking ate everything. They ate my life and I can't control them, and I can't turn them off and it's not awesome!"

<Carol> "They're still awesome, Bobby, you just forgot, like you forgot you could feel things." She went back to him, taking his hand and giving it a tug, "Let me help."

<Bobby> He resisted her for a moment, fighting with himself, then nodded slowly.

<Carol> Carol took him up to the hangar, ordering the agents there to open up the roof enough for her to get out and signaling Bobby to follow her out.

<Bobby> After a moment more of hesitation, he shifted to vapor and rose upward.

<Carol> Carol flew at a slowish pace to a small clearing a mile away that was filled with banged up cars and very large rocks. Some of the cars had clearly exploded and the rocks had once been much bigger. She landed and waited for Bobby to reform.

<Bobby> Bobby checked the area before reforming, so he didn't need to look around. "You decorate yourself?"

<Carol> "All the good decorators were booked up," she shrugged and grinned. "This is where I come to blow off some steam."

<Bobby> "I represent that remark." He did look at a nearby twisted metal hunk. It was an old truck, and it forced an unnecessary swallow.

<Carol> "Well I could smash you to bits but that would be no fun for you so I thought maybe you'd enjoy being creative. Whatever you want to make and we can have fun blowing it up."

<Bobby> "You're just tired of blowing your own shit up." He started to reform a solid shape around the truck, already knowing what it was.

<Carol> "Are you kidding? I love watching stuff blow up... I just figured you could get some enjoyment out of it too." She watched the shape seem to create itself out of thin air. "So cool."

<Bobby> "Don't blow this one up." The layers upon layers of ice shifted, moved, formed themselves into a long graceful line and blocky fenders. Soon enough, there was his truck. It was old, battered, beloved, and long gone.

<Carol> Carol saluted the instruction and just watched the truck form in intricate detail. "You know... if I didn't know you had an inappropriate love for that truck... I'd think you had an inappropriate love for that truck."

<Bobby> "I had to borrow money off my folks to buy it from my uncle." He smiled at the truck, lost in memories. "It... looks better like this."

<Carol> "And that just adds to the crazy truck love." Carol had never really had time to get attached to a vehicle due to a combination of road rage and impatience.

<Bobby> "If lovin' a truck is wrong, I don't wanna be right." He gave it a last fond look and blew the ice apart in a spectacular, if cold, explosion.

<Carol> Carol cheered - explosions were always epic. "Now, create away so we can have fun destroying it."

<Bobby> Bobby rolled his eyes, but the first thing he made was a sentinel, then one of those ridiculous spider things Viper made, because they creeped Paige out.

<Carol> Carol had fun taking the legs off the spider thing with precise blasts of energy from her finger-gun.

<Bobby> He animated the spider thing and regrew its legs as she took them off, making it skitter toward her.

<Carol> She laughed, taking to the air and employing two finger-guns to take out the legs faster.

<Bobby> Well, the spider thing didn't really need wings, but what was worse than a winged spider? Nothing. Well, except for two of them.

<Carol> "Hey!" No fair! Finger guns just weren't going to cut it now. She started blasting in earnest.

<Bobby> He was way more entertained than he thought he'd be by this, so much so that he let the sentinel blast her back a few times.

<Carol> Carol was surprised by the first blast but dodged the others, blasting around the Sentinel's feet in retaliation.

<Bobby> The sentinel started to bother him, since he was supposed to be forgetting about horrible things right now. So, he morphed it into a dragon and launched it into the air as well.

<Carol> "Oh now that's just unfair." Carol rolled her eyes, flying straight at the dragon and through its chest.

<Bobby> The ice shards reformed into a swarm of stinging bees to dog her heels.

<Carol> She sped up, flying in wide circles and blasting the swarms of bees, laughing with the enjoyment of it. It'd been a long time since she'd had fun like this.

<Bobby> It was fun, he had to admit, and he laughed along as well. Spiders and bees were much better than the real ice monster here.

<Carol> She shifted her route, making the creations swirl in the air around Bobby as they followed her, "If you weren't the boss of these things I'd lead them right into you, you know."

<Bobby> "Yeah, whatever, but I'm their leader." Bobby added ice to his own form, growing and changing into a broad-shouldered beast that looked remarkably like an orc.

<Carol> "I know! Cheater!" She laughed when she saw him though, "Shouldn't these be giant scary bat things or something?"

<Bobby> "I can do that." His voice echoed differently now, and if anything was worse than before. The spiders were terrifying enough on their own, but the bees collided and grew into monstrous bats.

<Carol> "Oh God, I need to just stop talking..." She was running low on energy reserves so she turned to punching while she topped up from the sunlight.

<Bobby> "Yup, I think so." He cackled, though at least it wasn't of the crazed variety, and let up when he noticed she wasn't blasting things anymore. "Think it's time to go back? I don't want to attract... well, the real thing."

<Carol> "Maybe... probably... but I'm having fun," she landed in front of him, carving a rut in the grass. "Did you at least have some fun?"

<Bobby> Bobby thought about it for a moment, shrinking back to his normal proportions. "Yeah. Yeah, I think so." He grinned at her, then sent a stream of ice at her feet. "Chill out!"

<Carol> She yelped in surprise and laughed, "Oh come on!" She focused her energy into a burst of heat to crack the ice then pulled her feet free.

<Bobby> Still giggling to himself, he dissipated the ice. "Thanks, sparky."

<Carol> "You're welcome, frosty." She gave him a friendly slap on the shoulder, "Come on, let's go home so I can yell at some people - you know how much I love to do that."

<Hope> Hope made her way to the medical lab, not even bothering to hide her red eyes. Anyone with half a brain avoided her instantly, allowing her to pass quickly. Inside Sebastian's room she closed the door and leaned back against it. "I can't do this anymore," she told him.

<Hope> She ran her fingers through her hair and stared at the monitors. "I can't..." She hid her face in her hands, crying into them. And cried. And cried. She looked up from her hands to stare at him again. "You're the only family I have left, Sebastian." She looked down at her hands again, toying with her left thumbnail.

<Hope> "And it's stupid that I'm even here or crying. Because your wife is the one who should be here. But well, she doesn't give two fucks." She wiped her nose a bit on the back of her hand. "But you knew I was here. You knew it was me...." Maybe she could try again. She moved toward him a bit before she tapped into his power.

<Hope> Touching his hand strengthened her own ability, allowing her to push herself fully into his mind this time. Her body collapsed, crashing onto the hospital floor. When she opened her eyes, she was standing in front of the most quaint little white house she had ever seen.

<Hope> The birds twittered in the trees as the bright sun shone down on the beautiful spring morning. She smiled as she saw the black shutters on the house, but blinked when she realized it had shutters and awnings. Who the hell had awnings on their house?!

<Hope> A woman appeared in the doorway, beckoning her inside. "Come on inside, silly. We've been waiting for you."

<Shaw> Inside, Bastian sat on the floor in front of the living room coffee table, flipping through a small, colorful book and stopping every so often to pick up a fat green pencil to sketch something on a notepad nearby. He looked up curiously when his mother opened the door.

<Hope> Well this was weird. Was this heaven? Hell? Hope moved toward the lady, going on into the house. "Hello..." She glanced at the little boy in the living room, and smiled. Yes. Yes she knew who that was. But did he know who she was?

<Shaw> He knew he'd never seen the little red-headed girl before, yet she was familiar. "Hi!" Bastian fiddled with his pencil, the eraser finding its way into his mouth.

<Hope> Her heart sank. No. He didn't know who she was anymore. She swallowed and moved to sit beside him. "Hi... your mom seems nice."

<Shaw> "She is." Pleased he now had company, he only glanced at his mother going back into the kitchen. "My dad's at work." Remembering he shouldn't be chewing on his pencil, he put it down. "What's your name?"

<Hope> "Hope. You're Sebastian, right?" She played with a bit of her hair, slightly horrified to realize it was full of curl. She hadn't had curly hair since... She quickly began looking for a mirror.

<Shaw> "Hope. That's pretty..." He saw her touching her hair. "So is that," he added, reaching over to touch one of the red curls. "Nobody calls me that... it's too long. I'm Bastian." What was she looking for? Confused, he looked around as well.

<Hope> "I need to see my hair!" She said, trying to sound as casual as possible. What girl didn't need to see her hair? She found one and swallowed, then grinned. She was pretty! "I'm pretty!"

<Shaw> He got up to follow her to the mirror, and caught his own reflection next to hers. "Uh-huh, you are." Bastian studied his image, however, a slight frown forming between his eyebrows.

<Hope> "Awwwww you think I'm pretty!" She giggled, twisting a bit to make her dress flow.

<Shaw> The swirling material got his attention and he caught it, giving it a tug, and caught the giggles.

<Hope> Hope giggled at him and poked him... then took off running.

<Shaw> He chased after her, dodging around furniture and trying to head her off around the end of their old, but well-cared-for, sofa. "I'll get you! I'm faster!"

<Hope> Hope squealed and made a run for the back door. "Are not!"

<Shaw> "Am so!" He skidded past his mother and halted in the dining room, staring out the window.

<Hope> She noticed he wasn't giving chase and stopped too. "What is it?" She moved quickly to look out with him.

<Shaw> Across the street, a tall, reddish humanoid thing stood on the sidewalk. It faced the house, its eyes glowing despite the bright sunlight.

<Hope> Hope reached out and took Sebastian's hand, moving closer to him.

<Shaw> "I know I don't belong here." Bastian looked at the little girl and gave her a sad smile. "It won't let me go, Hope."

<Hope> Something inside Hope triggered. She looked back at the sentinal, and wondered what she could do. She didn't get her powers until she was in high school, so fighting it was out of the question.... or was it? "Think how cute it would look if it was pink and had a funny hat!"

<Shaw> "It is sort of pink." He made a face. From the kitchen, he heard movement and then his mother was in the doorway. She looked so young. Sebastian blinked, and the thought flitted from his mind. "Hey, do you kids want some lemonade?" she asked.

<Hope> "But not a cool hot pink... LEMONADE!" Hope dropped his hand in favor of lemonade.

<Shaw> Lemonade trumped all, and he yanked the curtain closed and went to the kitchen too. Hope's skirt was right there again, so he picked up the edge and pulled.

<Hope> Hope pounced on him, giving him a noogie!

<Shaw> He laughed, nearly squealing, and tried to fend her off, then realized he could tickle her. An excellent plan!

<Hope> And Hope went down, collapsing into a fit of laughter and giggles.

<Shaw> "You two are going to break something." The adult voice intruded and Bastian stopped, until a girly elbow hit his ribs and then he poked back.

<Hope> Hope elbowed back, trying to look innocent.

<Shaw> He yelped and wrestled with her until the voice was raised. "Sebastian Hiram! That's a girl! You stop that!"

<Hope> Hope shoved him a bit as she escaped, her hair going a million different ways. She smoothed out her dress, trying to look dignified.

<Shaw> Rolling away, Bastian sat up too. His hair managed to stand up and fall in his eyes at once and he blew upwards at it.

<Hope> Hope gave him a look as she tried to fix her hair... but once they were alone... she broke down into giggles, looking back at the window.

<Shaw> The giggles were contagious, and he didn't want to look at the window. Crawling over to her, he tried to help her with her hair, but what did you do with so much of it? "I'm glad you're here..."

<Hope> She smiled and let him play with her hair, "Me too! You're cute."

<Shaw> "My mom says so," he giggled again, looping a bit of hair under her nose. It was suddenly the funniest thing he'd ever seen.

<Hope> "Nooooo! I don't want a moustache! I don't like moustaches!" She flailed, trying to bat his hand away for that attack.

<Shaw> "My dad has one sometimes and my mom says he's cute too!" He tickled her with her own hair.

<Hope> "But he's a booooooooooooy," Hope giggled, tickling him back this time.

<Shaw> She found a sensitive spot and he curled up, laughing too hard to breathe. "Stop! Stoooop!"

<Hope> "I win!" Hope released him and skipped off to find her next big adventure. She headed to the kitchen this time. Maybe there were cookies!

<Shaw> He sat up and shook his hair out of his eyes, watching her until she disappeared into the kitchen with his mother. Then, he looked over his shoulder at the window.

<Hope> The fresh baked deliciousness was on a plate on the table She picked up two of the cookies and skipped back to her best friend, holding out one of the cookies to him. "I got this for you."

<Shaw> "Thanks!" He took a cookie and stared at it, then looked up at her. "I missed you, little Stark."

<Hope> Her cookie fell to the ground. She just stared at him, swallowing.

<Shaw> Sebastian picked it up and blew it off, offering it back to her. "Don't worry, everything is okay here."

<Hope> She pulled him into a hug, taking her cookie back. "I don't want to go home."

<Shaw> "I do, but... I can't find her." He sniffed and hugged her tightly. "But I found you! Maybe you can stay... if mom and dad say it's okay?"

<Hope> Hope nestled into him, holding onto him tightly. "Can we ask? I want to stay with you. And have a tea party!"

<Shaw> "A tea party?" Bastian made another face, but held onto her just as tightly. "I'm sure you can stay... it's lonely. I get scared..." He looked over toward the window again.

<Hope> "I'm not leaving you..." she whispered to him, clinging to him actually, and swallowing. "I'm staying."

<Shaw> He sniffed and nodded. "Okay... good."

<Hope> "I know what we need. We need a fort. To protect ourselves!"

<Shaw> That prospect was way more exciting than a tea party. "I like building things! My dad says I'm good at it!"

<Hope> "Mine too! I bet we can make the best fort EVER!" She took his hand again, smiling.

<Shaw> "I bet there's wood in the garage. Let's go!" He was bouncing in place and started to pull her to the back door.

<Hope> Hope stayed with Sebastian for weeks, day in and day out. They slept in their living room fort together and played together all day. Before his mom tucked them into their fort at night, she read them a story and gave them kisses and told them she loved them. After a few days, Hope forgot all about being an adult, SHIELD, and the war.

<Hope> She sat in their fort, giggling as she placed a flower crown on Sebastian's head. "Now you are King Bastian! And the king deserves some tea." She carefully poured him imaginary tea into the cute little porcelain teacups his mother had found for them to use.

<Shaw> He tolerated the flower crown, since he could have tea with Batman. The talk of kings made him look toward the dining room window. The sentinel was still there, but he wasn't lonely anymore. "My tea can be coffee instead." He grinned at her.

<Shinobi> Another fruitless day of searching for his stepmother had passed, and now he was searching for Hope as well. Miriam was sleeping with Viper tonight, apparently.

<Hope> While her body was still on the cold hospital floor, Hope put on her own flower crown and gave Sebastian a thoughtful look. "Well... I want coffee too then!"

<Shaw> "I like coffee parties," he announced in all seriousness, and shared his cup with Batman. "Maybe the Joker wants some coffee too? Bad guys get thirsty don't they?"

<Shinobi> He wasn't sure what brought him to his father's room, since the man couldn't help him. But, Shinobi found himself there anyway. He opened the door and stepped inside, closing it to lean back against it. "I don't know what to do anymore..."

<Hope> "Maybe his face is all red from drinking Kool-aid?" Hope wondered, glancing out the window. Did that thing ever leave? She scooted closer to Sebastian and hugged one of his teddy bears to her. Well, it had kind of become her teddy bear. "Teddy says bad guys get thirsty too."

<Shaw> "I would." He agreed, nodding and drinking his pretend coffee. Black.

<Shinobi> He rubbed both hands over his face, realizing he hadn't shaved today, and stared at the ceiling. When his gaze finally fell to the bed, he noticed what the nurses had been talking about. Sebastian had been shaved, and his hair combed. Drake's wife, they'd told him.

<Shinobi> He smirked and slid his hands into his pockets to stroll over to him. "Even like this you get women falling all over themselves for you."

<Hope> "But you aren't a bad guy," Hope wrinkled her nose at him. "Except when we play capture the princess. But that's because you would be silly as the princess."

<Shaw> "Nope, I'm a superhero!" He spread Batman's cape to give him a whoosh around the fort.

<Shinobi> Other than the makeover, nothing seemed any different. The monitors still beeped steadily and Sebastian still breathed slowly. Shinobi pressed his lips together and looked down. What was he going to do?

<Hope> Hope giggled and lay down on the fort floor so she could watch Batman above her. "Yay superhero!!!"

<Shinobi> "Jess is pregnant. She doesn't know, and she... I'm not sure she cares. She's won't let anyone help... not with anything constructive anyway." He couldn't look at Sebastian now, so he stared at the opposite wall. "I don't know what the fuck to do, father..."

<Shaw> The motion of his hand stopped, and he frowned a little. "Do you hear something?"

<Hope> Hope glanced up at him, blinking a little. "Is your dad home?"

<Shaw> "I think it's too early... the sun is still out." Bastian put his toy aside and climbed out of the fort. In the kitchen, his mother was humming a song, but that wasn't it...

<Shinobi> "Miriam deserves more than me..." He sniffed. "You know, I can't even remember when I stopped hating you. Maybe I still do?"

<Hope> Hope sat up and crawled out of the fort. "I hear it now too..."

<Shinobi> He was looking anywhere but at Sebastian's face now, and that was when he saw it. A thin ankle, a familiar shoe. "Hope?" Shinobi rounded the bed, nearly tripping over it. "Hope!"

<Shaw> He held out his hand for her and frowned again. "Is your dad calling you?"

<Hope> Hope took his hand, trying to get close to Sebastian again. "What if he's going to try and take me away!?"

<Hope> Meanwhile, her body was unresponsive to his shouting.

<Shinobi> He rolled her onto her back and pulled her head into his lap, holding it in place. "Hope?" Jess' words about Hope hurting herself for a lost cause came back to him now. "No... nonono. Please, not you too..."

<Shaw> He shook his head, walking toward the window. "Tony wouldn't take you away from me..."

<Hope> Hope gasped for air a bit as her body was moved, stumbling back a bit. What was that?! That felt weird?! "What's happening, Bastian?!"

<Shaw> "Hope?" He spun around and grabbed her arms, keeping her with him. "I don't know!"

<Shinobi> "Hope!" She wasn't responding, it was no use. He swore, picking her up, and turned in a full circle in the room. Leaving her on the floor was wrong but where could he put her? What if she'd hurt her neck or head? Maybe he shouldn't have picked her up?

<Shinobi> Now even more panicked, he laid her across Sebastian's legs, trying to stop her from sliding off. He froze, gasping, before his own legs gave out.

<Hope> Hope held onto Sebastian, feeling sick. It stopped suddenly, allowing her to catch her breath. "Is it over?" She looked over at him with her big green eyes.

<Shaw> "I... don't know?" He started tucking her hair back behind her ears, and her flower crown was crooked, so he fixed it.

<Shinobi> He turned in a full circle in the middle of the street. "What in the hell" It was an old, urban neighborhood. Well maintained, with small, neat houses. His eyes were drawn to a white house with white awnings. It looked... familiar? Like he'd seen it in a photo once...

<Hope> She smiled weakly at Sebastian, relaxing a bit at his touch. "I think it's over now. We're ok!"

<Shaw> "We're okay!" He hugged her and snagged his teddy bear from the fort to hand her. But then, the window drew his attention and he went back to it, not noticing his own crown was askew. There was something different across the street now.

<Shaw> "Who's that?" Bastian took her hand again and pointed.

<Hope> She hugged her teddy tightly against her chest, squeezing his hand as he took her's. She was pulled easily to the window, and peered outside. "Ohhhh he's cute! Do you know him?"

<Shaw> "Cute?" Bastian's nose wrinkled. "He's old." He looked back at the man.

<Shinobi> A curtain moved at the house and he saw two children staring out at him. His mouth dropped open slightly. "This is a dream."

<Hope> Hope just giggled. "Nooooo. Maybe... No!" She giggled more. "We should let him in! Maybe he wants coffee too."

<Shinobi> He was already on his way across the lawn and to the window. The little girl was no more than seven? Five? He couldn't tell. But that hair... And the boy...

<Shaw> "I don't know..." He backed up from the window.

<Hope> "He looks nice!" She turned around to look at Sebastian. "What are you afraid of? He isn't a bad guy... right?"

<Shaw> Bastian wasn't so sure about this, but he couldn't leave Hope alone to face him so he moved back up to the window, wrapping his arm around her. He lifted his chin and stared down this familiar stranger.

<Shinobi> Oh, that was him, all right. He snorted and shook his head. "Come on out of there? Please?" He looked for a door and pointed at it.

<Hope> Hope kept close to Sebastian, suddenly nervous... but the guy was so cute! She glanced nervously to Sebastian. They didn't go outside. "No," she told the stranger through the window.

<Shinobi> "No? Hope... please? I don't know what's going on here, but..." He shook his head, looking around. "None of this is real! You're in his head or something." He pointed at Sebastian, who was wearing a smashed crown of flowers on his head. Christ, maybe he should take up drinking too?

<Shaw> "I..." Bastian opened his mouth, then closed it, then shook his head.

<Hope> Hope giggled at him again. "Awww he wants to play too!" She moved to the window, tapping on it. "You're cute! I'm gonna marry you!" She made kissy faces on the glass at him

<Shinobi> He almost laughed out of frustration and the ridiculousness of it all. Why were they kids? Shinobi looked down at his own unchanged body. "Hope... please... I don't know what to do..."

<Shinobi> After a last look at her, he moved away from the window, nearly tripping over the shrubbery this time, to try the front door.

<Shaw> "My dad has a gun!" He yelled, running to find his mother and dragging Hope with him.

<Hope> Guns. Hope paused in her running, dropping his hand. Guns. She knew how to shoot. Why did she know how to shoot? She was five! She glanced at the door again. Who was he?

<Shaw> He stopped and stared at his friend. "What's wrong? He won't get in. I won't let him hurt you ever again."

<Shinobi> The front door was locked, so he circled the small house, looking in another window and opening a gate.

<Hope> "Again? Has he hurt me before?" She caught up with Sebastian, taking his hand again.

<Shaw> "Has he... what?" Distracted again, he started for his parents room. He knew where his dad kept that gun.

<Shinobi> He found the back door and it was unlocked, shockingly. Jerking it open, he found himself in some sort of utility room, with a washer and dryer. "Weird..."

<Hope> "Again! You said hurt me again!" Hope was stuck on that word. It seemed important! She kept pace with him, crawling under his parents' bed. "Bastian... I'm scared."

<Shaw> "It's okay! It's okay!" Where was his mom? Was he hurting her? He heard the door open and threw open a closet door, searching for the chair to stand on.

<Shinobi> It was an entire house, and an impressive delusion. "Hope? Sebastian?"

<Hope> Hope hugged her teddy bear to her and started to cry into it. "What does he want?! Have you seen him before?"

<Shaw> "No? Yeah... I ... don't know?" He couldn't reach the top shelf, and fell off the chair into the closet, pulling down hangers and clothes.

<Shinobi> Standing in a very 1980s living room, he was staring at a wedding photo framed on the wall near the sofa. They were almost his grandparents, weren't they? The crash pulled his attention back to reality.

<Hope> "Bastian!" It pulled her out from under the bed, going to her friend. "We need to hide!" She hissed. "Are you hurt?"

<Shaw> "I'm okay!" But he heard footsteps, so he pulled Hope into the closet with him and shut the door, shoving the chair aside.

<Shinobi> "Hey... you don't have to... I'm here to help." He walked slowly down the hall, listening.

<Hope> Hope curled up in the corner of the closet, letting Sebastian play the part of the shield by hiding behind him. She hugged her teddy bear tightly. "Bastian?" She swallowed. "Are we going to be ok?"

<Shaw> "I'll keep you safe..." He was in no way sure about this, but he was going to try.

<Shinobi> He didn't need enhanced hearing to find them, and went into the bedroom. After a moment, he sat on the edge of the bed facing the door. "Hellooo..."

<Hope> She paused, gasping. "...Nobody's here!" She hunkered down, putting Teddy up as a shield too.

<Shaw> "Shhh!" He turned around and hugged her, not sure what else to do.

<Shinobi> "Hope, I know you're in there... can you please come out? It's Shinobi." He looked around the room, still shocked.

<Hope> Shinobi... Shinobi. That name. It tugged at her heart. But why? She hugged Sebastian back, but let him go to stand up.

<Shaw> "Hope? What are you doing?" Bastian's stage whisper was far from quiet.

<Shinobi> "Hope, you know me." He was listening to them, eyes closed to better focus. "I don't know how I got here. Can you help me?"

<Hope> "He's not going to hurt us," she told Bastian confidentaly. She carefully opened up the door to the closet, peeking out. "Shinobi?"

<Shinobi> He opened his eyes and smiled at her. "Hey, Hope." So this was what she'd looked like as a child... "I found you. I've been looking for a while."

<Hope> "I've been here... with Bastian. I don't want to leave." She refused to open the door up any further than it already was.

<Shinobi> "Bastian, huh? How did you find Bastian in the first place?"

<Shaw> Since they were talking about him, he uncurled and got up to look out with her.

<Hope> "His mom let me come play." She reached for Sebastian's hand again, struggling with her memories. Why did he look so familiar? Why did she know him?

<Shinobi> So was this her delusion creating him, or his trapping her? The house seemed so... precise. It had to be him. It was only logical. "Oh yeah?"

<Shaw> Bastian took her hand and slid past her to stand just outside the door. He looked the man over, then met his eyes. "I told you to take care of them."

<Hope> Surprised, Hope looked over at Sebastian. She kept his hand, shifting a bit more behind him. "Them who?" she whispered.

<Shinobi> His question answered, he nodded. "I did. They're just waiting for you now."

<Shaw> "More... friends." He squeezed Hope's hand. "They are?" Sebastian swallowed, shifting his weight. "They really are?"

<Hope> "More friends?! We'll need more coffee." Hope perked up right away, moving to hug the cute asian guy.

<Shinobi> "Oh..." He was startled by the hug, and this had to be one of the strangest things he'd experienced in his strange life. "Hey, Hope..."

<Shaw> Sebastian looked at the room, avoiding the window, and then watched Shinobi and Hope together. It made him uncomfortable, but he didn't know why.

<Hope> She looked up at Shinobi, studying his face. "He needs me." she told him softly.

<Shaw> Shinobi> He took her small face in his hands. "I need you." It was difficult to get out, and he had to remind himself this wasn't really a little girl.

<Hope> Her hands slid up to cover his as she swallowed hard. She turned her head to look back at Sebastian. How was she ever supposed to choose between them? She closed her eyes, trying to clear her head and think. "How can I leave him here alone?"

<Shaw> "I'm all right." He smiled at her and nodded, accepting it all. "Go with him, little Stark."

<Shinobi> The nickname made him look up at Sebastian. He blinked, and felt something. When he looked back at Hope, he nearly laughed. "Hey, there you are!" She was still wearing the flower crown, and he brushed his fingerstips over it.

<Hope> She moved her own fingers over her face, inspecting her hair a bit. Back to normal! She nodded a little and stepped away from Shinobi to hold little Sebastian to her, tightly. "I love you.... and I'll find a way to get you home. I won't leave you here."

<Shaw> "It's okay." He returned the hug as best as he could. "You already helped me, love..."

<Shinobi> He watched this exchange for just a moment, then looked away.

<Hope> Reluctantly, she pulled away from him, taking Shinobi's hand again. "Goodbye..." She told Sebastian, trying to smile as she pulled her mind and Shinobi's back to reality.

<Shinobi> He awoke, gasping, and flat on his back on the cold floor. "What the fuck? Hope?" Trying to sit up, his head spun and he flattened himself again. "Uuuugh."

<Hope> Hope slid carefully down from the bed to lay beside Shinobi, words escaping her. She stared at the ceiling, knowing the tears were falling, though silently, but unable to stop them.

<Shaw> Shinobi> He pushed himself up onto his elbow to look at her. "It's okay..." Shinobi looked up to the bed, but Sebastian did not move.

<Hope> "How um," she cleared her throat. "How long was I gone?" She couldn't look at Sebastian. Not like that.

<Shinobi> "I don't know... a few hours? I was looking for you..." He had no idea what time it was now, for that matter.

<Hope> She winced a bit, sitting up and holding her head. "I'm sorry... it was an accident. I was trying to make contact again. Obviously... I succeeded."

<Shinobi> "Obviously. At first I wasn't sure if I was in your head or his..." He sat up more slowly and with a groan, then dragged himself to his feet and leaned on the bedrail to stare down at his father.

<Hope> She laughed dryly at that one. "You think I could conjure up the perfect little house and family on my own?"

<Shinobi> He looked over at her. "Perfect?" He stifled his snort, barely, and gave his father a poke. "Come on. We know you're in there now."

<Hope> "Well... it was more perfect than anything I ever experienced," she told him softly, rubbing her head. Carefully, she got to her feet and looked over at Sebastian, having to swallow the urge to cry again. This crying shit was for losers. And Paige.

<Shinobi> That made him stop and straighten up to go to her, but he had no idea what to say.

<Hope> "I... can you..." She paused, starting again. "Can you stay with me tonight? Or... or do you have to get back?" The thought of being alone after that much close contact for weeks was terrifying.

<Shinobi> "Miriam... she's with Viper. I can check on her and if she's okay I can?" He pulled her against him and rested his chin on top of her head, wondering exactly what she'd experienced in his head. He gave his father a glare.

<Hope> She nodded, holding onto him tightly. "Thank you," she whispered softly. She pulled back to look up at him, pulling him down into a kiss.

Re: Whatif...? The Sentinels Won

<Clint> Clint was finally all healed up and ready for this mission. He wasn't the lead this time because of his recent recovery but his special skills were needed. Clint made sure all his gear was ready and went to check on Illyana. "You ready?"

<Illyana> Illyana nodded seriously. "Yeah. As soon as I get the box, you can do what you do best," she smiled at him.

<Clint> "Easy peezy." Clint double checked all of his weapons especially the explosives. "Hopefully these yahoos don't fuck anything up." He sighed, he would have preferred some other agents to help
them.

<Illyana> "We can hope." Illyana zipped up her bag and slung it over her shoulder. "I'm good to go."

<Clint> Clint checked with the rest of the guys and made sure they were ready and all geared up. "Alright the guys are ready too lets get going." He gave her his best reassuring smile.

<Illyana> "Ok, hold tight. Don't let go of each other." Illyana placed her hands on Clint and one other guy. Once they were all connected, she closed her eyes and focused on the plans she had studied, teleporting them to their landing spot.

<Clint> As soon as they got there the team lead started giving them orders by hand signs, even though they had all memorized the strategy and everything they were doing. Clint quickly took out the security from range while the non-mutant team mates went to shut down the back ups.

<Clint> Clint when about taking out any guards they might have to worry about. So far so good, no sentinels and no warning signs.

<Illyana> Illyana stayed back with Clint, only having to use her astral form to distract one guard as they made their way toward the target area. They'd been on a few missions together, enough that she felt comfortable enough with him. She pointed out the correct door when it came into view.

<Clint> Clint got to the door and worked to break the lock. "Like I said easy peezy." He popped the lock and carefully opened the door ready to shoot anyone that was waiting for them.

<Illyana> With the guards cleared out, Illyana made her way inside. "Ok... stay close." She led the way to the vault.

<Clint> "I've got you covered." Clint switched out to his bow. He was going to take down anything that came through that door and he could do it a lot more with his new trick arrows. "As long as those dip shits get their job done we'll be out of here before breakfast.

<Illyana> Illyana had to teleport into the vault. Once inside, she retrieved the box she needed, tucking it safely into her bag. Then the alarm went off.

<Clint> "Fuck!" Clint popped the first two guards without even trying. "Illyana come on we have to go!" He called back at her taking cover as a hail of gunfire came in at them.

<Illyana> Illyana quickly teleport back to the correct side of the vault door. "Clint! Where are the others?" She quickly ducked as glass rained down on them.

<Clint> "I can't get an answer from them. We gotta assume they've been compromised." Clint launched an arrow that exploded mid air filling the guys with shrapnel. "We've got to get out of here before the sentinels wake up!" Clint made sure the coast was clear and started out.

<Illyana> Running to keep up, Illyana tried to stay right behind him. "We can't just leave them!"

<Clint> "We can't do anything for them. We knew what this was when we got into it. My job is to get you out of here now. Period, I go down you keep running!" Clint took down another guy that was aiming straight for them.

<Illyana> She started to protest, but more glass rained down on them. "Ahh!" She cried out, pausing to shield her face.

<Clint> Clint pulled her away getting a few nice scrapes for his actions. "Come on it's not safe in here, all they have to do is shut our powers down and bring the building down." His lecture this time got him a bullet to the shoulder which was returned with a knife to the throat of the shooter. "I mean it come on! I don't heal."

<Illyana> "Clint!" She astraled a distracted to run the other way, hoping some guards would follow it instead of them. "Then let's run."

<Clint> "That's the plan. I'm just clearing you a path." Clint thought fast enough to peg the first sentinel to show up with an explosive arrow, ripping it to shreds. "Fuck they're here! This way we're getting out now!" Clint got them past the explosion he created and down a few more halls without any issues.

<Illyana> The second sentinal on scene sent a huge blast which brought the closest wall to them down.

<Clint> Clint woke up from the hit in a haze. "Illyana! Fuck come on tell me you're okay I can't shoot a speedster and he'll fuck me up." Clint nailed the second sentinel with another arrow and then instantly went back to pulling away the rubble to get to her.

<Illyana> She pushed the rocks off of her, brushing the blood from her face. "Grab my hand!" She was definitely needing help to get out of the rocks.

<Clint> Clint pulled more rocks off her and then took her arm carefully to pull her out. "Come on we have to run now!" Clint had to leave his bow, it was completely destroyed. "If there's another sentinel you teleport! Don't wait for me, I can't take out another I only have my pistols now."

<Illyana> "I... ok." She didn't argue. She wouldn't leave him behind, but she sure wasn't going to argue with him. She got out of the rocks and took off.

<Clint> Clint took off with her trying to use as few bullets as he could. "At least that last one scared off most of the other people." It was too quiet, there's no way that this was going to be this easy after two sentinels.

<Illyana> She noticed that she was beginning to limp. "Almost out!" she let him know.

<Clint> "Fuck Illyana move!" Clint pushed her hard out of the way as a sentinel blast hit him in the side and back knocking him clean out.

<Illyana> Risks be damned. Illyana moved to Clint and grabbed him, teleporting them out immediately. She reformed to a neutral location outside, then to a space several miles away. Finally, she teleported back to the base, confident nobody could track her port pattern.

<Clint> A few agents came to see what the heck just happened and when they noticed it was Clint and Illyana but not the rest of their team they ran to get doctors, not even bothering to check on them to make sure they needed the help.

<Illyana> Illyana pulled a gauze from her bag and put it on the worst of Clint's wounds. She worked on the rest of them until the doctors took him to get him checked out. She was slightly surprised that they pulled her away too. She supposed Pietro would find out soon enough. Their team may have been lost, but they made it home.

<Hope> Hope had said she'd let Shinobi tell Jess the news about the baby himself. She, however, needed to have a word with her friend before that happened. Preferably before. The girl wouldn't even go see her husband. It made Hope's blood boil.

<Hope> She shifted through a few different powers before she found the one she wanted. Fitting that it was Sebastian's. She pinpointed her location then dropped the power, marching herself into the room and flipping on the lights. "Jessica Shaw."

<Jessica> Jess groaned and pulled the blanket up over her head. She was so not done sleeping. She curled up tighter and tried to cling to the unconscious state she liked.

<Hope> It took Hope a few short seconds to figure the scene out. Of course Jess was in Shinobi's bed. The idea of flipping her and the mattress onto the floor was tempting. So tempting. "You don't get to ignore me today. Not until I say what I have to say."

<Jessica> Couldn't ignore her if she tried with all that yelling. Jess groaned again, but didn't surface from under the blanket. "What do you want?"

<Hope> "First off. Why the hell are you in my boyfriend's bed? A husband not enough? You need to move in on the sliver of happiness I have left?"

<Jessica> "What...?" she lifted the corner of the blanket to peer out at Hope, trying to focus her vision.

<Hope> "You heard me, Jessica. Why the hell are you in his bed? If not to sleep with him!? What other possible reason could you have?!"

<Jessica> Her brain struggled to sort that out with the combination of sleep and alcohol. She stared at Hope for an uncomfortably long time before the penny dropped and she laughed.

<Hope> "Damnit Jess, this isn't funny!"

<Jessica> She laughed again, "It is! It's hilarious! Shinobi's not even here!"

<Hope> "You are waiting for him! Clearly!"

<Jessica> Jess shook her head, "Noooo I'm sleeping... or I was sleeping and you ruined it." She scowled at her.

<Hope> "Don't you have your own damn bed? No. You have to go to his. Because you don't think about ANYONE other than Jess. Ever! Know how I know? You are here instead of with your damn husband!"

<Jessica> "My bed doesn't feel right..." she retreated back under the blanket and scrubbed her face with her hands to try and wake up.

<Hope> "Always an excuse. What is your excuse for not going to see Sebastian? You can't handle it?" she asked in a mock baby voice.

<Jessica> "I have been to see him... and no, I can't." She sat up, pushing a hand through her hair.

<Hope> "What, you stay all of a whole minute?" Hope asked, smirking a bit. "You know he's going to wake up."

<Jessica> "I stayed with him for days right after it happened! Where were you then? Get off your high horse."

<Hope> "Working. You know, to end this damn war. Some of us have been useful and not a drunken mess. And where have you been since he's been healed? Hm? I don't blame him for not waking up. I wouldn't either."

<Jessica> If she'd had her powers, Hope probably would have gotten a chest full of venom for that remark. Instead, Jess hurled a cushion at her - not particularly effective.

<Hope> Hope phased through the pillow easily, laughing at her. "Yeah. I don't have to use his powers to know he's in there either. Maybe if you spent any time with him, he'd want to wake up. But of course he will eventually anyway. And you'll give him your pathetic excuses. And of course he'll buy it. God only knows why, but he does love you."

<Jessica> "Shut up! You don't know what you're talking about!" Jess retreated to the small bathroom and slammed the door... then decided she needed to throw up. Goddamn alcohol and interrupted sleep.

<Hope> "Or the fact that you are yet AGAIN running away, proves that I do." Hope slammed her fist against the door. "I'm so tired of watching you try to sabotage yourself! You think your life is so terrible, but it's only because you make it that way yourself. You take for granted what some of us NEVER get, Jess!"

<Jessica> "I'd rather never get it than lose it right after..." She punctuated this with a flush then went to rinse her mouth.

<Hope> "You lose it, then get it right the fuck back! Every single fucking time!" Hope hit the wall this time, then leaned back against it. "You don't appreciate anything. You don't deserve him at all."

<Jessica> "I don't get it back! I lose it and it's gone! There's a trail of dead people behind me that had the misfortune to love me." She didn't want to leave the bathroom now, the door made her feel safer.

<Hope> "Says the one who has a husband waiting for her and a child who needs her. I buried my fiance, Jess. And I buried a child too. I've watched my dad get buried on television. Don't you fucking talk to me about death. You know I've lost more people. At the end of the day, your husband and child are both alive. And you don't care."

<Jessica> "It's not a fucking competition, Hope! Some people are just better at it than others! Are you happy? You're better at life than me, congratulations!"

<Hope> "Well that's a bunch of bullshit. I just learned to appreciate what I have while I have it because I know it won't last. You don't appreciate shit. You drink yourself under a table, leaving your kid to other people to raise. And of course it isn't a competition to you! You are the one winning!"

<Jessica> "I'm not winning! I'm failing! I know I'm failing! I don't need it pointing out to me every day by everyone I talk to! You think that's helpful?!"

<Hope> "If you did anything about it instead of the same bad decisions, yeah, I'd think it would be helpful. But what do you do? Get drunk and crawl into my boyfriend's bed instead of seeing your husband."

<Jessica> "Then maybe you should try a different way of helping? Like leaving me the fuck alone."

<Hope> "I tried that. Look where you landed! In Shinobi's bed and not with your husband! We've been through this. So I'm here to help. Do me a favor. Don't go see Sebastian. Stay the fuck away from him. I'll be telling him how devoted you were when he wakes up. With any luck, he'll take Miriam and leave your drunk ass here to whine some more."

<Jessica> The bathroom door opened surprisingly fast given her extreme hungover state and Jess slapped Hope hard.

<Hope> Hope grinned darkly at her. "Stay the hell away from my family. Or you'll regret it. Bitch."

<Jessica> "Who the hell do you think you are?! You don't know what the fuck you're talking about! You have no idea how I feel right now!"

<Hope> "I don't care how you feel! I care about HIM. He's the one who has been there for me. He's the one who is my family. He risked his life to save you, and you repay him by avoiding him! You. Do. Not. Deserve. Him!" She poked Jess a bit with her finger, smirking. "By the way? Slap me again. He was right. It feels amazing."

<Jessica> "They are my family. Not yours." She gave Hope a shove, "Sebastian is my husband not your father!"

<Hope> The jolt through her, electrified her, waking her up. She moved in close to Jess, speaking softly. "Is that why I just spent the day in his mind and why you can't feel him anymore? Because you are his family and not me? I think he's made a choice based on who is there... and who is too incapable of being with him."

<Jessica> That was unfair and it hurt. Something inside her broke and all the frustration she'd been feeling boiled up. The fact that Hope was using Sebastian's powers was lost on her as she tackled the redhead.

<Hope> Hope went down with her, laughing. "Finally." It was a good thing she had Sebastian's power. Otherwise she could have joined him with that hit to her head.

<Jessica> The laughing only succeeded in pissing Jess off more and resulted in more ineffectual hits.

<Hope> Which just made Hope laugh all the more. Damn the pregnant lady. She couldn't fight back, even if she wanted. Hope was far too amused to fight her anyway. She just took the hits, enjoying the feel. "Keep that up, I'll need some alone time with Shinobi. Again."

<Jessica> Ugh! That was enough. Jess got up off her and backed up a couple of steps, "Just get the fuck out." She pointed at the door.

<Hope> "Actually, I think I'll stay here. Get naked," she wriggled a bit. "Nice surprise for Shinobi when he gets back." She grinned at Jess. "You can go somewhere other than to see Sebastian. Anywhere would do."

<Jessica> "No you won't. Get out!" And she absolutely needed to throw up again but she refused.

<Hope> Hope started taking off her shirt.

<Jessica> Jess started picking things up to throw at her.

<Hope> She laughed at Jess, moving to the bed to watch her. "You know... if it were my husband... I'd have my ass in that room all day. Every day. Because I wouldn't want for him to wake up, for even one moment, and wonder why I wasn't there. But who are we kidding. I'll never have a husband." She kicked off her shoes and got comfortable on Shinobi's bed.

<Jessica> "Shut up! Stop talking! Stop! Just stop! Enough!" And there it was. She made a quick run for the bathroom.

<Hope> "Awwww widdle Jessie has an upset tummy wummy. Maybe it's the guilt you are puking up." Hope leaned back and fiddled with her nails. "Nah... you'd have to care first."

<Jessica> "I'm doing this because I care and it hurts..." and now she felt like shit which was totally Hope's fault for waking her up. Her head was pounding. She curled up on the floor of the bathroom. Nice cold friendly tiles.

<Hope> "Awwwww I care and it huuuuurts. I'm the ooooonly one who cares! Noooobody knows my struggles!" Hope mocked her from the bed.

<Jessica> Jess felt around on the sink and found a glass. It had a toothbrush in it but it'd do. She threw it out into the bedroom where it smashed satisfyingly against a wall.

<Hope> "Oooo throwing things. About on par with the toddler you ignore."

<Shinobi> The crash and raised voices intruded into the haze of his throbbing head and he stopped just outside the door, making sure it was the right door. Sounded like he found Jess after all, and Hope. He threw the door open and rushed inside. Hope was on his bed? Naked? "What..."

<Hope> Hope waved at him a bit. "I was just having a chat with your lovely... whatever she is. She was in your bed. Waiting for you. Like a cougar."

<Jessica> In the bathroom, Jess curled up again and fought not to cry. Hope would just looooove that.

<Shinobi> "What...?" His brain was having trouble processing this, and his right eye was still swelling shut. This meant he had to turn nearly in a full circle to realize Jess was on the bathroom floor. "Is she sick?" Shinobi went into the bathroom, crouching to check on her.

<Hope> "Probably," Hope didn't bother pointing out it could be morning sickness. She sighed, finding her shirt. Exactly as predicted.

<Jessica> She felt awful and now she wished she hadn't thrown that glass.

<Shinobi> He looked over his shoulder at Hope, and she was getting dressed. "What do you mean she was wai-" Now, Shinobi wished she hadn't thrown that glass either when he slipped on broken glass on the floor.

<Hope> "Shinobi!" Hope was on her feet and rushing to him, stopping in the doorway. What the hell happened to him?

<Jessica> Jess sat up, reaching somewhat ineffectively to steady him then seeing the state he was in. "Oh God, what happened to you?!" She hauled herself to her feet, her other instincts kicking in, and reached for a wash cloth to wet it with some cold water.

<Hope> "What happened?" She asked flatly.

<Shinobi> Shinobi caught himself, and pressed his back to the bathroom wall. "SHIELD agent." He gave Jess a once-over and then moved to Hope, wrapping his arms around her. "I was looking for Jess. He recognized me."

<Hope> "Do you know his name?" She ignored everything else. Everything. She focused in on the thought ahead of her only.

<Shinobi> He shook his head and sighed, relaxing now that he had her. "I just came back to clean up before I got Miriam... didn't want her to see me like this."

<Jessica> Jess squeezed the excess water off the wash cloth, feeling worse than ever, and offered it to Shinobi to clean up his face.

<Hope> Hope pulled Shinobi close to her, taking the rag from Jess to clean him up herself. Somebody was going to die. Or get their knees capped. "I found Jess. She's been sobering up. Haven't you, Jess?"

<Jessica> Jess narrowed her eyes at Hope and turned to leave the bathroom, carefully avoiding bits of glass with her bare feet.

<Shinobi> He let Hope fuss with his face until Jess started to leave. "Hey, not so fast."

<Jessica> "What now? Are you going to yell at me and tell me what a failure I am too?" She sat down on her own bed and looked around for shoes.

<Hope> A soft hand landed on Shinobi's face and began pouring healing power into it, focusing on that face first.

<Shinobi> His mouth dropped open and his eyes focused on Hope's.

<Hope> "I might have pointed out that she was in your bed instead of with her husband like a good wife would be." Hope explained, a bit sheepishly.

<Jessica> "Good." She took his silence as a no and pulled her shoes on and got up, going to the door.

<Shinobi> The strange tingle from the healing faded and he snapped back to attention. She was getting away! "No, I don't think so." Moving back into the room, he blocked the door.

<Jessica> Jess glared at him. Hope had been all for her leaving so she could be alone with Shinobi, she looked at the other woman breifly. "Shinobi, I'm not in the mood."

<Hope> Well, Jess sure wasn't going to listen to him, but Hope knew Jess wasn't headed to Sebastian or Miriam. Good for Shinobi! She bent down to clean up the glass.

<Shinobi> "Neither am I. I've been trying to find you for over a day." He crossed his arms, planting himself.

<Jessica> "What the hell for? I know it's not because Sebastian's awake and asking for me or Hope would have led with that instead of accusing me of trying to get you into bed."

<Hope> "If the shoe fits," she muttered, picking up the glass.

<Jessica> Oh that was enough. Jess started for Hope again.

<Shinobi> "Stop!" He moved between the women.

<Hope> Hope rolled her eyes... but shifted to Shinobi's power. Just in case. She went back to picking up Jess' mess.

<Jessica> "Tell that to her! I've been trying but she likes the sound of her own voice too much." Jess tried to get around him to Hope.

<Shinobi> "This is utterly ridiculous!" He grabbed his stepmother by the arm, jerking her away from Hope.

<Hope> "Tell you what. Sober up and go see your husband, you can slap me again." Hope smiled at her.

<Jessica> "Shut up!" Why wouldn't she just stop? She rounded on Shinobi instead, "I'm not staying in here if she does."

<Shinobi> When her sleeve rode up, he spotted that damn inhibitor cuff that caused so much trouble. Shinobi grabbed the thing and phased it from her arm, coming up triumphant with the sizzling cuff in his hand.

<Hope> Hope grinned at Shinobi. Excellent! Maybe they could get somewhere with her now.

<Jessica> No! She stared at him for a moment, all the betrayal she felt written all over her face before her powers kicked in and started to purge the toxins from her system. Now she had to lean on the asshole to stop herself falling over.

<Hope> Glass disposed of, Hope moved to lean on the doorframe, watching.

<Shinobi> He caught her, handing the ruined cuff off to Hope. "This is for the best, Jess."

<Hope> Hope took the cuff, making a face at it.

<Jessica> It wasn't. But her powers were back now so she could escape. Reacting rather than thinking, Jess hit Shinobi with a venom blast and bolted for the door.

<Hope> Hope dropped the cuff and in one fluid motion, sent a blast at Jess in return.

<Shinobi> It caught him off guard, before he could phase, and wasn't that becoming a nasty habit. The blast hit him in the chest and he yelled hoarsely and impacted the wall.

<Jessica> His yell was accompanied by one from Jess. That bitch was using her powers again.

<Hope> "Fuck. You. Whore." Hope growled at her and moved to check on Shinobi.

<Shinobi> Finally he phased, but the electricity was affecting his powers and he gasped, sliding down the wall and partially into it.

<Jessica> She did make it to the door and wrenched it open, misjudging her own strength after so long without it and ripping it off its hinges. She ignored the destruction and escaped down the hall.

<Hope> Wall was not a good place! Hope tried to think of how to get him away from the wall. "Shit..."

<Shinobi> Solidifying partway into the wall caused another startled cry.

<Hope> "Shinobi!" Hope screamed, pulling his head onto her lap instead of the floor, feeling his neck for a pulse. "Shinobi!?"

<Jessica> Jess disagreed with Hope on the wall thing wholeheartedly, and climed as high up as she could get as soon as she'd rounded the corner. Curling in on herself, she tried to calm down and protect herself against the horrible outcomes of the last month. It was a lot harder to handle without the haze of alcohol.

<Hope> Hope moved away from Shinobi a bit so she didn't go through him... and started yelling for help.

<Jessica> The shout pulled Jess out of her spiral downward and she remembered what she'd done to Shinobi. She hurried back to the room, sliding to a stop in the doorway to take in the scene before going to them and sinking down beside Shinobi. Damn it. Why couldn't she just stop getting people hurt? "I'm sorry..."

<Hope> Hope hugged her knees to her, rocking a bit, forehead on her knees. She couldn't help him. She didn't know if she blamed Jess or herself more, but she sure did blame Jess. She didn't have the snark left in her to snap back at Jess for the apology.

<Jessica> "Hope... you need to get him out of that wall." Why she hadn't done that already was beyond her.

<Hope> "I can't... I go right though him."

<Jessica> "No you won't," Jess shook her head, "You're duplicating his powers, you can phase to the same frequency."

<Hope> "Don't you think I tried that!" Had she tried that?

<Jessica> "Try harder. We can't leave him in there and you're the only one that can get him out. You want to win? Focus."

<Hope> She stared at Jess for a moment, biting on her lip. "I don't get the happy endings! Don't you get that!? I don't get to win!" he was in that wall because of her. But she had to move. And fast. She tried one last time, trying to sync up with his frequency. It was made 10 times more difficult after Jess' attack.

<Jessica> "Well that makes two of us... but haven't you just been telling me that I'm not allowed to give up and hide until it's over? Suck it up."

<Hope> She could argue with her later. Hope reached over to Shinobi again, this time able to hold onto him. She tugged, hard, pulling him out of the wall and to her.

<Jessica> "Okay... can you make him solid again so we don't lose him in the floor?"

<Hope> If he could pull her through walls, she could pull him back out. She tugged, relieved when the two of them were solid again on the floor.

<Jessica> "If he hadn't destroyed the inhibitor cuff, it'd be really useful right now..." Jess gently turned Shinobi's head and felt for a pulse, "Shinobi...?"

<Hope> "If you hadn't attacked him, he'd be really useful right now too."

<Jessica> "I know it's my fault!" she snapped, "Lay off."

<Hope> "Did you ever think that maybe there was a reason why he thought it was best? Why we asked you to sober up? Hm? Do you really think that I care if you waste away drunk unless there was some really big important fucking reason not to?"

<Jessica> "Maybe if you started with the reason instead of being a bitch about it I'd be more inclined to listen."

<Hope> "Ahh see, I agreed to let him tell you. I was hoping you would do the honorable thing on your own. But since you won't and you nearly killed the messenger, you are stuck with me. Viper ran your blood. You're pregnant." She looked down at Shinobi, stroking his hair gently. "So once again... good things happen to you in bad packaging. And some of us... it's just bad things in bad packaging."

<Jessica> Jess stared at Hope for the longest time, glancing only briefly down at Shinobi as if to check if Hope was lying. She shook her head, "No..." she couldn't be pregnant. Now was not a good time to be pregnant.

<Hope> "If you want to argue, go argue with the reports Viper has. I don't want to hear it." She stroked Shinobi's hair some more, swallowing hard. "I know I'm a bitch... but I was really just trying to keep your kid alive and help your husband. He is my family, even if you aren't. And you can't change that no matter how much you hate it or me."

<Jessica> "I don't hate you..." she sighed, "I just hate the way you operate." She got to her feet, "Borrow someone's powers and take him to Viper, she'll check him over..."

<Hope> "Well I hate the way you operate too," Hope pointed out. "I can take care of him. What are you going to do?" she asked, looking up at Jess.

<Jessica> She shook her head, "I don't know..." Probably throw up again at some point. She pushed a hand through her hair and looked at the door.

<Hope> Hope nodded, hoping Jess wouldn't do something stupid. "Miriam... he was on his way to pick up Miriam. He can't really get her like this."

<Jessica> She nodded, "Yeah..." she glanced back toward them, her eyes on Shinobi, "Tell him I'm sorry, okay?"

<Hope> "Tell him yourself when he wakes up."

<Jessica> "If he's as mad at me as you are... he won't want to hear it." She headed out to the hall again.

<Hope> "Doesn't matter!" Hope called back. "He still deserves to hear it from you."

<Hope> Hope sat at her table, feet propped up on it. She had a glass of scotch in her hand, but she hadn't actually taken a drink of it. She looked over at Shinobi, asleep on her bed. Maybe she should try to heal him again. She set her drink down and moved back to the bed, touching his cheek gently.

<Shinobi> Making a whining sound, he turned his face away from the touch and shifted on the bed.

<Hope> Her hand pulled back quickly, wincing. She shifted to sit with her back against the wall. "Shinobi?" she asked softly, touching his hair gingerly.

<Shinobi> This time he sighed and rolled toward the voice with a slight smile. "Yeah?"

<Hope> Well she didn't have an answer to that part. "It's me," she settled on, stroking his hair again.

<Shinobi> "Mmm, Hope..." He reached over for her, half opening his eyes.

<Hope> Her smile could not be contained. She slid down next to him, wrapping her arm around him, though carefully.

<Shinobi> He might be dreaming, but she was warm and felt very real and he nuzzled her.

<Hope> There may have been a tear escape from her eye. "Are you alright?" Her hand moved to his cheek, stroking it.

<Shinobi> "Yeah, why wou-" He stretched and the fog cleared. Sucking in a breath, he half sat up and looked around. This wasn't his room. "What happened?" He looked down at Hope questioningly. Her eyes were red. "Are you okay?"

<Hope> "Jess... used her powers on you. You kind of lost control of your powers and nearly got stuck in the wall." She kept one hand on him, half afraid he'd phase out again.

<Shinobi> "Oh." He frowned, scrubbed his hand over his face, then laid back down and reached for her again. "Yeah... I remember that. Shit. All of that..."

<Hope> Hope went easily, pressing herself close to him. "Yeah... sorry. I may have just made things worse. But she knows now."

<Shinobi> Busily cursing in his head, Shinobi paused to process that. "You told her? What happened?"

<Hope> "She argued with me. I told her to go argue with Viper because I didn't want to hear it. Then I worried about getting you help."

<Shinobi> "You helped me..." That realization grew and he smiled at her, a lump growing in his throat. "Thank you," he said, and gave her a soft kiss.

<Hope> "Of course I helped you," she mumbled, kissing him back. Had he thought she might not?

<Shinobi> When he broke the kiss, he bowed his head to angle his face into her neck and hold on to her. Jess could have killed him.

<Hope> "I might have zapped her back. Just a low level. Enough to piss her off." She nestled into him, holding him tightly.

<Shinobi> "Good." He tried to sniff quietly and blinked.

<Hope> "Didn't really think about it... I just... she shot you..." She held him tighter. She had nearly lost him.

<Shinobi> "Yeah, she freaked out, like she did with the ice guy." He buried his hand in her hair, stroking it and her back. "She startled me, just like that agent did." Shinobi shook his head. He was getting too soft.

<Hope> "I need you to point that agent out to me," she told him softly, nuzzling his cheek on one side and stroking it on the other.

<Shinobi> "He knew who I was. I'm lucky it was just a sucker punch."

<Hope> "He's lucky it was just a sucker punch." She pulled away enough to inspect his face again, looking for any lingering blemish. "But you'll point him out? When you see him?"

<Shinobi> "If I see him, I suppose. I'm not sure revenge will do any good since we're all trapped here together."

<Hope> Hope smiled and pressed her forehead against his. "Doesn't mean I won't make it very clear that anyone who touches you, has to deal with me."

<Shinobi> He laughed a little. "So you're my protector?"

<Hope> She laughed a little, her face flushing slightly. "Of course. I told you I'm not going to let anything happen to you... course then I fucked that up already." She sighed. "I'm not very good at this."

<Shinobi> "You are astounding." He brushed his nose against hers and then gave her another gentle kiss.

<Hope> Hope returned the kiss, stroking his cheek. "As long as you're okay... then I'm okay."

<Shinobi> "I'm okay, she just... caught me off guard." It was a revelation to him, that she really cared about him.

<Hope> "Alright then." There was still an agent that needed a good thrashing, but that would have to wait. She wasn't happy about that, but it had to be done discretely. "Do you need anything? Water?"

<Shinobi> "I need for Sebastian to hurry up and wake up," he said, flopping onto his back and rubbing his face. He was fine, but tired. "Oh, shit!" Shinobi sat up. "Miriam!"

<Hope> "I reminded Jess about her child. I would hope she took care of her... but this is Jess we're talking about." Hope went to get herself redressed for public. "So let's go get her."

<Shinobi> "I don't know what I'm going to do if she doesn't change. Viper was so convinced if she found out she was pregnant she'd stop drinking and remember she has responsibilities." He shook his head, sitting up and trying to smooth his hair back.

<Hope> "At some point... she has to figure things out for herself without everyone holding her hand. Everyone seems to disagree with me on that one, but shit, I grew up without someone there to catch me every time I fucked up." Hope tied her shoes and stood to her feet. "She's not some delicate little egg shell. She just acts that way. And everyone fawns over her because of it."

<Shinobi> "It's ridiculous, but it's Miriam who will pay for it... and I remember growing up with no one, no parents... even though the memories aren't real, they felt that way." He frowned and stood up, looking for his shoes. "She's my sister now. I can't let her grow up with no one there."

<Hope> "We're not going to." Hope toyed with the glass of scotch on the table. "I have this... thing. About these kids ending up like me."

<Shinobi> He located his shoes and sat back down to get them on, smirking up at her. "Ending up gorgeous and strong?" But, the moment passed and he nodded, sighing. "I know. Me too, I guess."

<Hope> She smiled at him a bit, her fingers slipping from the glass so she could cross her arms across her chest. "You don't want tiny children to act like me either? I don't blame you."

<Shinobi> "Like me, is more what I meant." Shinobi got up and went to her to uncross her arms and hook them around his neck.

<Hope> She smiled properly at him, sliding closer with her arms around his neck. "I know... but I kind of like how you act now."

<Shinobi> "Well, of course." The smirk was back. "I'm almost fully reformed now and everything."

<Hope> "Almost fully? My my... what else about you needs fixed?" she teased, kissing his neck.

<Shinobi> "Well," he drew out the word playfully. "Now that you mention it..." Wait. He was too easily distracted by her, and the wonderful things she was doing with her mouth. "Unfortunately, we should get Miriam..."

<Hope> Oh right. Whoops. "We should." She kissed his lips softly, dropping her arms from his neck.

<Shinobi> "I know you didn't ask for the bonus child, so thanks." He caught her arm and gave her a quick peck before he headed for the door.

<Hope> Smiling, Hope took his hand securely in her own. "What else am I here for?"

<Shinobi> "You're very decorative." He grinned at her and opened the door.

<Hope> Decorative was acceptable. She shrugged, smiling. "Acceptable."

<Shinobi> "What am I going to do... if she leaves, or drinks herself into a coma along with Sebastian?" It had been gnawing at him, all week, and even more so now.

<Hope> "Then Miriam gets the worst two possible people taking care of her until Sebastian wakes up. Because he is going to wake up." She squeezed his hand.

<Shinobi> "He is going to wake up," he repeated, squeezing back. Then, he smiled at her. "Thank you."

<Hope> "You thank me now... when the kid knows how to spell scotch and build robots before she's five... we'll talk."

Re: Whatif...? The Sentinels Won

Post by Svartfreja » Wed Dec 24, 2014 10:52 pm

<Jessica> After dropping Miriam and Sharky off with Viper (and explicit instructions not to teach Sharky any new tricks), Jess went and took a shower in the medical staff's bathroom and stole some scrubs too so she had something clean to wear. Feeling more human, but still extremely sicky, she headed down to Sebastian's room. This time, she went in and shut the door.

<Jessica> She watched him for a long time, studying his face. Someone had shaved him... He could just be sleeping if not for all the beeping monitors around the room. It surprised her but it made her angry. How dare he just lie there looking so perfect when everything was broken? Why didn't they understand that she couldn't believe he was still in there and would just leave her to deal with this all on her own?

<Jessica> "Damn it, Sebastian!" She kicked the bed, which made it move alarmingly quickly at a wall. "Wake up!"

<Shaw> The impact caused one of the monitor cords to pull free and it beeped in protest. The body on the bed did not move, but the voice stirred something.

<Jessica> Jess zapped the machine before it could start to beep in earnest then climbed up onto the bed to lean over him, "Can you hear me in there? You're not allowed to check out. I don't care how cozy it is in your brain, there are people out here that need you." She gave him a zap to the chest, not as light as her usual zaps to him but not enough to do any damage. It'd sting though.

<Shaw> Another monitor started beeping at the burst of electrical activity.

<Jessica> Jess silenced that one too. "I know your powers are back. Hope says you're awake in there. Where are you?" Another zap to his chest, "You are not leaving me to raise Miriam alone. I'll fuck it up. There's only one sane person in this family and it's not me. Stop being a selfish jerk!"

<Shaw> Where was he? Right there, and hearing her more clearly with each jolt of energy. It was enough to connect the severed ends of the link he'd shared with her for years.

<Jessica> She paused, feeling the familiar presence filter back into her mind. "Sebastian?" She focused on the link, swallowing nervously, Are you there?

<Shaw> The answer was most definitely in the affirmative, though it took a moment longer for his real answer. There you are.

<Jessica> Yes, I'm here.... where are you? She shifted her position on the bed to lie down beside him and rest her head on his shoulder.

<Shaw> The question made no sense since he was obviously right here, but the contact strengthened the link as it always did. Where do you think I am?

<Jessica> Somewhere I can't reach you... She moved a hand up to stroke her fingers through his hair, I need you to wake up, Sebastian.

<Shaw> Miriam is safe? The simple gesture awoke all his cravings for affection. You're safe? He knew why they hadn't been safe. The sentinel wasn't across the street anymore, but he remembered two of them in the attack. Every painful blast, every blow came back, and he'd held his own with them until they took his abilities. Until they took Widget.

<Jessica> We're all safe thanks to you... The feelings and memories filtered over their link and her empathy and she bit down on her lip, shutting her eyes and sniffing. It brought back all the experiences she'd had when it first happened. We just miss you....

<Shaw> I got a bit lost. Then found, then stuck, but the house was gone now. Do it again. And with that, he sent her a clear image of her glowing hands.

<Jessica> Jess sat up, moving to sit astride him and readying a charge in her hands, I'll go slow... I don't want to hurt you.... Strange how her powers could do so much damage to Shinobi's but complimented Sebastian's entirely. Hope was ridiculous. Why would she want the clone when she had the real thing? She applied the charge to his chest again, a low charge but a constant one.

<Shaw> It worked, quickly, his breathing and heart rate kicking up. The last of the haze in his mind cleared enough for him to realize he was already awake and aware. His hands found her legs and moved up to grip both of her thighs. Eyes blinking open, he blinked again and focused.

<Jessica> "Well hello stranger," she smiled, the first geniunely happy smile she'd managed since the Sentinel attack. She dropped the charge and leaned down to hug him.

<Shaw> "Hello, love." His voice was rusty but clearing his throat seemed to help and made him realize there was an oxygen tube under his nose. That was ripped away to return her hug, tightly. "Did you miss me?"

<Jessica> "So much..." she buried her face against his neck and breathed him in, "I was so afraid I'd lost you forever..."

<Shaw> It had been a near thing, certainly, and he couldn't hide that apprehension from her. "I'm fine now." Sebastian's hand went to her hair to tangle his fingers in the blonde strands. "But, I think we discovered the limits of my abilities." He shook his head. "Pity that. I always suspected I had none."

<Jessica> Jess just hugged him tighter, choking on a sob, "It's not a joke, Sebastian! You could have died! What was I supposed to do without you?"

<Shaw> "I should have closed the link before I..." He shook his head, feeling her misery and distress. "I'm sorry."

<Jessica> She shook her head too, "I don't want to talk about it... Everything's gone to hell since..." she sniffed, "Hope probably told you... we're with Hydra now... I'm sorry... I had to call her... I didn't know what else to do...."

<Shaw> "Hope? I sensed... I thought it was a dream." And while he wasn't stiff, precisely, since he was charged with energy, he hadn't really moved in... "How long?"

<Jessica> "A couple of weeks..." she may have been off by a few days, "Nearly joined you in here for a bit there... Viper fixed me up..."

<Shaw> That news was enough to make him finally move, and he took Jess' arm to shift her to see her face. "A couple of weeks? What in hell happened?" Sebastian shook his head. "I thought I dreamed of Hope, and Shinobi... so Hope is here? Shinobi is safe as well, yes?"

<Jessica> Jess nodded, "Yes.... They're both fine... well... probably... some stuff happened..." she attempted to cuddle back close to him to hide her face.

<Shaw> He stopped her, wanting to see her face. "You look exhausted, koibito..." Sebastian sighed and cupped her jaw to hold her in place. "You haven't been taking care of yourself."

<Jessica> Her eyes avoided his gaze and she shook her head, "Not really... I... haven't been coping very well... you might hear some stuff..."

<Shaw> "Stuff?" He enunciated the word very carefully, tilting his head to try to catch her eyes again and picking up on the shame that was rolling off of her through their link. He swallowed.

<Jessica> She sighed, fixing her vision on a spot on his neck, "After the... after you were hurt... I didn't leave your side... for a whole week I wouldn't move or really sleep or eat... or take care of Miriam... Shinobi kept us safe then... and then we came here and things were... different." She pulled back from him, sitting up and running her fingers through her hair.

<Jessica> "Before we came here... there was hope that you'd just wake up as soon as your powers were active again, albeit a small hope... and then we were here and they ran all these tests and your powers were back but you weren't... I couldn't be in here anymore... I tried... I just couldn't sit here and watch you slip away.... so I hid... in a bottle... lots of bottles...."

<Shaw> He knew these signs -- she wouldn't look at him, now she wasn't touching him. Sebastian swallowed again, afraid to dip deeper into the link. He knew her, and remembered how they'd met... "I was right here, Jessie."

<Jessica> "But you weren't... Physically, maybe but I couldn't feel you anymore... there was no reason they could find that you weren't waking up..." She looked away across the room, "I was scared... I didn't want to face it..."

<Shaw> It was confirmation of his suspicions and he looked down at himself, frowning in disgust at his condition. Sebastian sat up and pondered the IV line in his hand, then started peeling off the tape. There were too many tubes attached to him in places where there should not be tubes.

<Jessica> Jess moved off of him to make it easier for him to free himself of the tubes. "Anyway... drinking is off the table now, Shinobi fried the inhibitor cuff I was using... and I sort of fried him a little bit so I'm sure he'll be pissed at me whenever he wakes up... Hope's pissed at me but I think that's still largely to do with her weird paranoia that I was trying to get Shinobi to sleep with me..." she wrinkled her nose. "It's been a weird couple of weeks."

<Shaw> Sebastian looked up at her, startled into stopping. "When he wakes up? And Hope thinks... what, exactly? And why?"

<Jessica> She groaned, "It's complicated and you have to understand that I was really drunk when I got home..." she went to the wall and rested her forehead against it. "I fell asleep in Shinobi's bed - he wasn't there, he didn't come back until Hope was already yelling at me and I was throwing up in the bathroom."

<Jessica> "She wouldn't shut up or leave so I tried to and Shinobi broke the cuff so I venom blasted him but it had some sort of reaction with his powers... he was still unconscious when I left to get Miriam from school... she's with Viper at the moment."

<Shaw> "Why were you sleeping in Shinobi's bed?" And Hope was angry about it, and assumed... The dots were not hard to connect. Old habits were hard to break, after all. "Christ."

<Jessica> "I don't know..." she frowned, "I guess because when I didn't think about it too hard he kind of smells like you... my bed didn't smell like you... I was drunk, it made more sense then..."

<Shaw> "But you thought I was gone," he reasoned. "In all honesty, my abilities were gone before the sentinels used their inhibitor blast." Sebastian was still processing her answer and turned back to picking the tape from his hand. "They overloaded me." He yanked the IV line out and hissed at the spurt of blood.

<Jessica> "I know... the link... I felt it.... you know I did..." she closed her eyes, reaching out with her empathy, "I'm not okay yet... but you're awake so... that'll help."

<Shaw> Although, he was apparently a little late to help. "I've never had this happen before, but after a while, I was aware, and I just..." He frowned at himself and watched the tiny wound close. Now, of course, his healing abilities were in high gear. "Well, I was too weak to do anything I suppose. Certainly too weak to wake myself."

<Shaw> Sebastian watched her from across the room, the distance not lost on him. "I tried to find you."

<Jessica> "I was hiding... it wasn't your fault you couldn't find me... I'm sorry..." she sighed, turning to face him again. "Anyway... there is one more thing... the reason I came in here and yelled at you."

<Shaw> "Hiding." He snorted at the euphemism. "I know it wasn't my fault, and I know I should have cut the link before I tried to buy you time, but after everything..." Shaking his head, he debated getting up. "I would have hoped -- I thought you had changed."

<Jessica> Now she was confused, "I don't... what do you mean?"

<Shaw> "When I took our wedding vows, I meant them. I took many vows before, vows to the Club and to causes, but those... those I meant. With all my heart." As much as he didn't want to consider performing a minor procedure on himself, he might have to. He needed to find clothing, get Miriam away from that snake, and then... he wasn't sure.

<Jessica> Jess watched him for a moment, still extremely confused, "I meant them too, Sebastian..." her tone was questioning.

<Shaw> Picking up on her confusion, he looked up at her again. Searching her face, he took a deep breath. "Did you?"

<Jessica> "Did I what? Mean my vows? Of course I meant them!" Now she was catching on, "I can't believe you would be so quick to jump to the conclusion otherwise!" She turned her back to him again.

<Shaw> The outrage he sensed made him sit up, swinging his legs over the edge of the bed. Hospital gown. Of course. "Turn around and tell me I'm wrong then."

<Jessica> "I shouldn't have to tell you! You should just know!" She did turn around, swiping at her wet cheeks with the back of her hand. "You've been in a coma for weeks and the first thing you think when you wake up is 'has my wife been cheating on me while I was sleeping?' What does that say about us?"

<Shaw> "It wasn't the first thing I thought, Jess." He sighed and held out a hand to her. "Please, don't cry. Come here."

<Jessica> "Why would you think it at all?" She sniffed, going over to him and taking his hand.

<Shaw> Using her hand to draw her close, he slipped his arm around her and rested his forehead on her shoulder. You're right, I jumped to the conclusion. Avoidance and shame and... I know you.

<Jessica> Not as well as you think if you think I could do that to you. I've been feeling that way because Hope made me feel like an utter failure... like I don't care about any of the people in my life and that's wrong... I do care I was just overwhelmed but she doesn't understand. I'm not like her and that makes me weak... She wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tight.

<Shaw> It made sense, for both of them. So, the more things change, the more they stay the same, to bring the old cliche into matters. Sebastian angled his face into the crook of her neck and squeezed her just as tightly. I should have learned the whole truth of it, but I know you can be uncomfortable with me reading your thoughts.

<Jessica> Only because it gets messy, especially now... but go ahead, you may as well know all of it, it'll be better than only getting half the story from Hope when she's pissed at me... but just... there's bad things in there, things that I don't think I could find the words to tell you anyway... She bit her lip, giving him a squeeze.

<Shaw> He closed his eyes and breathed in deeply, feeling at home with her back in his arms and in his mind. Her memories were painful, and he tried to soothe what he could of her experiences of his attack. Nearly three weeks of fear and hopelessness and tears... and more than a few surprises. "Oh, Jessie..."

<Jessica> She sobbed onto his shoulder, "I don't want to be pregnant, Sebastian... God help me, I just can't... not in this place..." She feared another attack and further loss, it was hard enough to protect a toddler, what was she going to do with an infant to worry about too?

<Shaw> "I hate to admit it, but this place would probably be best for it." Apparently Sarkissian had created quite the enclave here, according to her memories. Sebastian rocked her a bit, shushing her tears and stroking her hair. More worrisome was the punishment she'd taken, from alcohol, stress, Drake, her own abilities, and whatever Viper gave her. "But, if you want to go, we can search for another arrangement."

<Jessica> Jess shook her head, "Don't you see that'd be worse? Being pregnant out in that world? There's no way..." she choked on another sob.

<Shaw> "Then we stay here, and we need to get you checked." His other hand worked between them and he spread his fingers low over her stomach, wishing that was enough to protect their second child. "You can do this. We can do this."

<Jessica> She shook her head again, "I don't know... I don't think I can..." She was shaking now, the more she thought about the danger they were all in every day just for being alive, the more terrified she got.

<Shaw> It was bleeding over, and he gulped down his own fear. "Yes, you can." He closed his eyes and wrapped both arms around her again, concentrating on using their link to calm her.

<Jessica> She tried to rein in her empathy to lessen the blow but her control was always bad when she was stressed, "I hope you're right..."

<Shaw> He smirked to himself. "I'm always right."

<Jessica> Jess took Sebastian's hand as they walked along the corridor toward Viper's lab where she'd left Miriam and Sharky. She felt much less anxious with her hand in his.

<Shaw> Holding her hand did wonders for him as well, although her emotional state was making him somewhat more twitchy than he should have been. Sebastian squeezed her hand and raised it to his mouth, kissing her knuckles as the walked. "My, Sarkissian has been a busy viper."

<Jessica> She returned the squeeze with a small laugh, "Yes, she has... there's a whole city down here with districts and a hospital and everything.... it's nice."

<Shaw> "Well, I'm willing to tolerate most anything for safety for our family." He would not admit he was impressed. "However, I'm still debating if we should have words about you leaving Miriam with the woman." He smirked over at her to let her know he was mostly joking.

<Jessica> "She's fiiiine, I'm more worried what she'll do with Sharky. I told her she's not allowed to teach him anything." She rested her head briefly on his shoulder while they walked.

<Shaw> He stopped in the hall and turned to face her, backing her up to the wall with both of his hands on her hips. Deciding he'd waited long enough to be able to do this properly, he kissed her.

<Jessica> She kissed him back, sliding her hands up his chest so she could put her arms around his shoulders and push her fingers up into his hair. She'd missed this just as much.

<Shaw> His hair was still damp from his shower, and the thin material of their borrowed hospital scrubs let him feel every inch of her body pressed against his. When he finally broke the kiss, he rested his forehead against hers and grinned. "That's much better now."

<Jessica> She grinned back, tilting her head to give him another quick kiss, stroking her fingers through his hair, "I'm pretty sure there's a closet around here if you can stand to leave Miriam with Viper for a little while longer?"

<Shaw> "A closet, you say?" He bent to kiss her again, planting quick kisses on her mouth and then moving along her jaw to just beneath her ear. You're making me make hard decisions with a dwindling blood supply...

<Jessica> Then I think the decision's made, don't you? She trailed a hand down his arm and caught his hand, then gave it a tug and dragged him down the hall to said closet.

<Shaw> Laughing, he let her drag him and gave her ass a pinch. The lackey who passed them in the hall only gave them a brief second look. He approved.

<Jessica> Jess opened up the closet and pulled him inside, closing the door behind him and pushing him up against it.

<Shaw> Eager. I approve. He was already working his hands up under her shirt.

<Jessica> I missed you... and this is the first time we've been actually alone in the longest time. She kissed him roughly, finding the tie at the top of his pants to undo it.

<Shaw> Sebastian groaned, also approving of her skilled hands. Then we're wasting precious time. He found the bow at the front of her pants and pulled it free with one hand and twisted to pin her back to the door instead.

<Jessica> Time passes.

<Jessica> The closet looked like a tornado had hit it and Jess had every intention of leaving it that way. She smiled at Sebastian and cuddled close to him, stroking a hand over his skin lightly.

<Shaw> The shelving had come in quite handy, and Sebastian reached above his head to one of the mostly undisturbed shelves and pulled down a blanket. Of course, this sent a cascade of fabric over them and to the floor. He laughed, shrugging, and slung the blanket around them before he slid to the floor, taking her with him. Now I feel like I'm home again.

<Jessica> She laughed at the avalanche of blankets and pillow cases, settling down with him and closing her eyes, Yes. Me too. She felt calmer now, the effect of intimacy far more potent than alcohol. I wish we could just stay in here...

<Shaw> He held her close, drawing patterns on her bare skin with gentle fingertips. If only for the look on some poor minion's face when he opens that door? Sebastian closed his eyes as well, nuzzling into her hair and breathing deep. Too close. They'd come too close to losing everything.

<Jessica> She giggled, pressing kisses against his exposed skin, That would be hilarious.

<Shaw> Absolutely. The sound of her laugh was wonderful, and he rested his head against the wall to let her keep kissing him. I love you, he sent, and along with the words shared a rush of his contentment and happiness.

<Jessica> I love you too, she responded with her own feelings, And Shinobi and Miriam... but not in the same way.

<Shaw> I would hope not. He chuckled and gave her a squeeze, then sighed. "We should get Miriam." Then, he frowned. "Are you sure he's all right? Shinobi? I confess I'm still having difficulty with the idea of Shinobi and Hope... together."

<Jessica> "You're not the only one... especially when she was stripping off in our room and sitting on his bed." Jess suppressed a shudder, "He'll be okay... had to use the mom voice to get Hope to pull him out of a wall but he'll be fine..."

<Shaw> "Speaking of..." His hand strayed to her belly again and he kissed her forehead.

<Jessica> "Yeah..." the easiness went away rapidly with that and she sat up, pushing a hand through her hair and looking for her fallen clothes.

<Shaw> It wasn't unexpected, so he just sighed softly and sat up as well. Now where were his pants? "If it's a boy," he said quietly, "I think we should name him Anthony." Sebastian raised his eyes alone to gauge her reaction.

<Jessica> Jess paused in her digging through closet linens for her clothes while that processed. She didn't reply except for the tiniest hint of a nod.

<Shaw> He smiled slightly and caught her hand, pulling her to him for another quick kiss and a tight hug.

<Jessica> She was surprised but relaxed and settled into the hug quickly, returning it just as tight. "Come on," she turned her head to kiss his neck just below his ear, "Let's get dressed."

<Shaw> "If we must." He heaved a put-upon sigh and let go of her to dig for his clothes, and came up with her shirt. Handing it over, he gave her a cheeky grin.

<Jessica> Jess returned the grin with a smirk... then nailed him in the face with his pants.

<Jessica> Time passes, clothes are found.

<Viper> Viper was begining to regret her offer to watch Miriam. The child was a walking disaster zone. Her lab looked like a bomb had hit it, fortunately all her important and explosive projects were elsewhere, but now the child was on the ceiling and she could not get her to come down. They were at a stalemate.

<Viper> After locking eyes with the child for what would be an uncomfortable amount of time for any adult, Viper frowned and looked down at Sharky. "I know you understand me. You try." The silver corgi yapped at her and looked up at Miriam, tail wagging. "... You are a travesty."

<Shaw> One of the simulated windows held his attention while they walked down the last hall to Sarkissian's lair. "Remarkable... and shocking that she went to the effort..."

<Jessica> "Apparently she's a stickler for looking after people's mental health... maybe it's because she's crazy?" Jess shrugged, "Or maybe she just wants to be the only one that randomly shoots people... probably that one."

<Viper> If only she had a long enough grasper.... Viper looked around her lab for ideas, eyes falling on a very old prototype. Aha! She went to dig it out.

<Shaw> "Most likely that one..." And she had Miriam. It still bothered him. "There wasn't anyone else who could watch her?"

<Jessica> "Not really.... well... I don't know..." She sighed, "Bobby's not himself and Paige is.... hugely pregnant and stressed, Hope and Shinobi were occupied and I've kind of been hiding out with SHIELD and getting drunk so I don't know about anyone else..."

<Viper> She was her mother's daughter, she loved arachnids. A mechanised remote control arachnid would surely lure her out. Sure it was large enough for her to ride and had a laser canon but she was fairly sure she'd deactivated the laser to use the power core in something else. Regardless, a few wires were reconnected and it was up and running good as new.

<Viper> Miriam made the same sound she'd made when she'd been destroying things earlier so Viper assumed the spiderbot was a hit. "You can play with it if you come down."

<Shaw> Sebastian picked up a voice from inside, and Miriam's happy squeal, and looked at Jess questioningly.

<Jessica> Jess gave a helpless shrug and gestured for him to go in ahead of her if he wished.

<Viper> There was another expensive crash as Miriam took the controls and steered the bot into a work station. She seemed thrilled by this turn of events and Sharky chased the bot yapping excitedly all the while. Viper decided the mission a success and sat down, pouring herself a well earned cup of coffee.

<Shaw> The door was partially open, so he pushed it open and stepped inside, immediately searching for his daughter and spotting her. Of course, she was playing with a giant spider. A lump formed in his throat and he reached a hand back for Jess.

<Jessica> Jess followed him in, covering a giggle with her hand when she saw the chaos and destruction. I feel a bit bad now...

<Viper> Spying the movement in the doorway, Viper stood up again and raised a hand so they could see where she was as Miriam found the laser canon button. It had apparently not been deactivated. Ah. Oh well, the lab was destroyed anyway. More coffee.

<Shaw> I don't. She gave a three year old a war machine! He noticed Viper didn't seem terribly surprised to see him. Not shocking. The woman likely knew what they'd been up to in the linen closet already as well. My only concern is since she hasn't seen me... I could startle her into shooting me.

<Jessica> But the three year old loves it! Jess gave his hand a squeeze, "Miriam?" She called as Sharky ran for cover behind Viper. Miriam looked over at her, her eyes finding Sebastian and a grin lighting up her face, "Daddy!" The controls abandoned, Miriam ran to them.

<Viper> Distration deployed, Viper hurried to pick up the controls and properly deactivate the canon.

<Shaw> "Miri!" He went down on one knee to catch her, picking her up to wrap her in a tight hug. "Hello, my darling girl..." Was she bigger? Sebastian kissed her hair and cheek while she giggled and squirmed.

<Jessica> Jess wrapped her arms around both of them, glad to have her family back together.

<Viper> Sat upon the mechanoid spider, Viper paused to watch the exchange.

<Miriam> "Don't forget Lulu, daddy!" A slightly smelly, worn blue plush spider appeared as if by magic and she held it up for her daddy to kiss.

<Shaw> "No, I can't forget Lulu," he laughed, and picked up one of its little grubby feet and gave it a loud kiss. Sebastian moved to put one arm around Jess, too, and leaned his head against hers.

<Jessica> Jess smiled to see Miriam so happy, glancing up to Viper to give her a grateful smile too.

<Viper> "It's about time you woke up," she called over to Sebastian, "If you'd been any longer I don't think my lab would have still been standing."

<Shaw> "What a pity," he responded, though there wasn't any real venom to it, since he was still laughing and receiving kisses from Miriam and Lulu.

<Miriam> "You were asleep soooo long." She snuggled into him, her little face burrowing into the crook of his neck.

<Jessica> "He was very tired after beating up the bad guys," Jess told her, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

<Viper> She finished removing the laser's power core and climbed down from her perch, taking the item to the other end of the lab.

<Miriam> She squirmed around to look at mommy. "So will you be happy again now?"

<Jessica> Jess smiled at her, bopping the end of the nose with a finger, "I'm already happy, see?"

<Shaw> A familiar silver form scurried up to him and a wagging tail started a rhythmic thumping against his leg. "Yes, hello to you, too."

<Miriam> "How about Shi'obi?" She giggled at Sharky, especially when he morphed into a monkey to climb up onto her daddy's shoulder and mess up his hair. "And Hope?"

<Jessica> "I haven't told them yet but I'll bet they'll be happy... how about you tell them?"

<Shaw> Sebastian suffered Sharky's affectionate mauling since both hands were full.

<Miriam> "Oh! Can I? I want to tell them! I want to!" Mommy hadn't kissed Lulu yet, she remembered, so a spider was shoved under her nose too.

<Jessica> "Of course you can!" Jess smiled and kissed the spider, "I'm sure they'd love to hear it from you.... but say thank you to Viper first for looking after you." She nodded to the woman who had reappeared and was reclaiming her coffee.

<Miriam> "Thank you, Fifi!" Miriam waved Lulu at the green-haired lady.

<Shaw> Sebastian nearly choked, then burst out laughing, unable to help himself.

<Viper> Viper sighed, nodding in acknowledgement of the thanks and the rather huge dent in her reputation that was sure to result from Miriam trying to say her name. "You're welcome."

<Shaw> He was still laughing. Fifi. "Ah... this, is... a wonderful day."

<Viper> "Keep laughing and I will gift her one of my spider mechas." She was totally serious.

<Jessica> "Ooookaaaay, I think that's our cue to leave...." Jess tried to turn Sebastian around to face the door.

<Shaw> "We'll be back, later, to discuss some things." He resisted her just long enough to meet Sarkissian's eyes and give a slight nod.

<Miriam> "Spider!" She made grabby hands at the robot.

<Viper> "You can come back and play with it any time you want." Viper assured her giving the child a small wave, "I look forward to our conversation, Sebastian."

<Hope> After a very long day of zapping, rescues, and making up, Hope and Shinobi had gone to pick up Miriam. Discovering that she was not at the childcare center, they learned that Viper had her. Hope laced her fingers with Shinobi's, swinging their arms a bit as they headed to Viper's to collect Miriam for dinner. "I hope she's hungry. I know I am," she smiled a bit at Shinobi.

<Shinobi> "Me too." He returned the smile with a flash of teeth. For his part, he was just happy that Miriam was with Viper and not Jess. In her state, who knew what insanity the woman would drag the girl into. Maybe he should talk to Viper about getting a room for himself and the girl. Alone.

<Hope> Hope softened at his smile, squeezing his hand. "I hope they have burgers." She glanced ahead of them, noticing a man leaning on the wall ahead of them. A familiar man. She paused, staring. He shouldn't be there.

<Shaw> The man in question was inspecting his nails as he waited for his wife and daughter in the bathroom. Sebastian could hear them inside, with Miriam singing while she tinkled. He smiled to himself, then caught voices down the hall... voices he knew. Sebastian straightened up and smiled. "Well, I realize this might be something of a shock..."

<Hope> "Bastian..." Swallowing hard, Hope continued to stare at him. If it was a hallucination, she was going to look like an idiot attacking the wall, but she didn't care. She dropped Shinobi's hand and ran for him. "Bastian," she repeated.

<Shaw> The nickname caught him off guard, and he blinked. It... couldn't be. "Hope." He took two steps toward her. "Hello, little Stark."

<Shinobi> He stopped where she left him, and if she was hallucinating he saw it too.

<Hope> She slowed enough to not bulldoze him, but she threw her arms around him. Tears were already falling, but she didn't care. He was alive and awake. And she was hugging him. "Bastian," she said again, hoping it was real and not another dream.

<Shaw> "Yes," he laughed, catching her and picking her up to return the tight hug. "That's me."

<Shinobi> Not a hallucination then. He watched this display, torn, and crossed his arms over his chest.

<Hope> Hope sobbed into the crook of his neck, not letting her grip on him slack at all. He was ok!

<Jessica> Jess' ears picked up the voices in the hall and she hurried Miriam through washing and drying her hands, "Quick, quick, Hope and Shinobi are coming!" Miriam hurry hurried until she found a penny on the floor. Jess rolled her eyes and picked up both the child and the penny and headed back out into the hall.

<Jessica> She set an excited Miriam down and let her give the news how she would, going to Shinobi to give him a hug. "I'm so sorry I zapped you!"

<Shaw> Sebastian looked up at Shinobi, smiling slightly and giving him a greeting nod, then the bathroom door opened and hurricane Miriam erupted.

<Miriam> "Daddy's awake!" She immediately attached herself to Sebastian's leg, Sharky catching up from his exploration down the hall and frisking around them, barking.

<Shaw> "Hope, it's all right, love." He tried to soothe her and his daughter, who was now hugging Hope too.

<Shinobi> He sidestepped the hug. "Are you?"

<Jessica> Jess stoppped short, feeling hurt, though she knew she deserved it, "Of course I am..."

<Hope> "I knew you'd wake up, but I didn't know how or when," Hope told him, brushing her fingers over Miriam's hair while loosening her hold on Sebastian a bit.

<Shinobi> "Of course." He edged further away from her and leaned against the opposite wall, still watching this happy reunion from the corner of his eye.

<Shaw> "It appears I owe you many thanks, little Stark." He kissed her cheek and brushed her hair back from her face. "Now, no tears over me."

<Hope> Hope laughed a little, trying to wipe her face. She sniffled and looked up at him. "A little late for that."

<Jessica> Her eyes found the floor and the turned back for Sebastian, "I'm glad you're okay..."

<Shinobi> He grunted, arms still crossed. Sharky came over to sniff around his feet and he ignored him.

<Shaw> His smile faded a little, but it was best to say it now. "I'm so very sorry about your father, love."

<Jessica> Jess bent down to pick Miriam up for cuddles, making sure not to drop the plush spider in the process.

<Hope> She punched his back as she pressed her lips together hard. Fresh tears came down before she could stop them. She brought her newly freed hand up to her mouth to cover it.

<Shaw> Sebastian shushed her tears and pulled her into his chest, rubbing her back soothingly. "I know." Her grief was making him tear up now. How long had it been since he'd seen Tony? And now...

<Shinobi> Shifting his weight, he wondered if he should just go somewhere for a while. Anywhere. He glanced over at Jess and Miriam. Now she was being a mother. Of course.

<Jessica> Jess moved away from Sebastian and Hope to give them some space, "Sharky, come here." She wondered if Shinobi would forgive her ever.

<Hope> "I missed the funeral. I can't even go to his grave. Nothing." She wiped her face, which was pointless because more tears just followed them. She glanced over at Jess and shook her head. Jess had everything again.

<Jessica> "Um... we're going to head down and get some dinner... you can follow on when you're done... Hope can show you where we're assigned..." She wasn't needed here anyway.

<Hope> "Oh am I family enough for you now?" Hope snapped at her.

<Jessica> "You're the one that says I don't deserve this, I'm leaving you alone with them," she turned and started to walk away.

<Hope> "Yeah, I still stand by that statement." Hope wiped her face again. Would these tears ever stop!?

<Shaw> From Jess' memories, he knew they'd fought, but already at it again? "Ladies..." He looked at Shinobi.

<Shinobi> He held both hands up. Not getting in the middle again.

<Jessica> Jess raised the hand that wasn't supporting Miriam's weight, "I'm done." She didn't stop or turn around.

<Hope> "It's whatever. Go have dinner with your family." Hope backed up.

<Shaw> "What happened?" He looked between Jess' retreating back and Hope.

<Hope> "What happened is she drank herself into into a hole and abandoned her kid while refusing to go see you. And everything works out just beautifully for her." Hope shrugged, fighting back a fresh wave of tears. Not again. Nope. "Not to mention, she tried to kill Shinobi for trying to help her." Shinobi! She glanced over at him. She was a terrible girlfriend.

<Jessica> That's a lie. Jess glanced over her shoulder at Sebastian as she sent that over the link, You know the whole story. I didn't mean to hurt him.

<Shinobi> Oh, now Hope remembered him...

<Shaw> "She thought she felt me die." That much he knew, he'd felt it from Jess. I know, love. It's all right. He went over to Shinobi and after a moment's hesitation hugged his son. "Thank you for taking care of them."

<Shinobi> The hug took him off guard, and he returned it stiffly, his eyes still on Hope. "You're... welcome."

<Hope> Hope shoved her hands into her pockets. "She's full of excuses." She couldn't hold Shinobi's gaze. She looked away to the side.

<Jessica> I'll be in the caffeteria... She turned a corner at the end of the hall.

<Shinobi> And now she couldn't even look at him? The moment Sebastian returns he becomes irrelevent? He pushed away from his father and started down the hall in the opposite direction from Jess.

<Hope> "Enjoy your time with your family. I'm glad you're ok." Hope told Sebastian, starting after Shinobi.

<Shaw> "We'll talk later, perhaps after everyone has some time to process, yes?" He caught her arm.

<Hope> She nodded, giving him a weak smile. "Yeah. Let's do that. I'm going to try to fix this now," she told him, tilting her head in the direction Shinobi went.

<Shaw> That was yet another conversation, wasn't it? He lowered his voice, checking to see if he'd gone. "Shinobi, Hope? How did this happen?" He shook his head, perplexed.

<Hope> Hope kind of just... grinned. "I don't know." She smiled to herself. "He was irresistible. And then I got to know him."

<Shaw> My. That was an expression. He raised an eyebrow. "All right, if that's what you want. He has changed, and much of it for the better." Sebastian nodded, mostly to himself, and let her arm go.

<Hope> "If he does anything stupid, I'll kick his ass. Then you can kick his ass," she promised him, dropping a lot of the smile, but keeping a small one.

<Shaw> "Agreed," he chuckled, then leaned in and pecked her temple. "You'd best go find him then."

<Hope> "Yeah, I'm on it," she started to walk off, but stopped to give him one last hug. "I really am glad you're back."

<Shaw> "I would hope." He smirked, returning the hug before he straightened up.

<Hope> Hope nodded at him, smirking, and turned to hurry after Shinobi. She'd probably have to cheat to catch up with him.

<Hope> Hope half ran down the hallway trying to catch up to Shinobi. He had vanished. She ran her hands through her hair, slamming her fist onto the wall in frustration. She made a nearby agent jump. "Sorry," she muttered. Which way would he go? She started phasing through walls, headed in what she thought was the right direction.

<Shinobi> Shinobi was in the room he had shared with his stepmother and sister, packing. The room was still a wreck, and he flicked a piece of broken glass from the a t-shirt, then stuffed it in his pack.

<Hope> She finally made it to his room, cringing when she saw the door was still broken. She knocked on the doorframe, stepping partly into the room. "Hey...." And then she saw what he was doing. Fear gripped her. "Hey! Hey! What's happening?"

<Shinobi> "I can't stay here." Traveling light and on the run for years suited him, so he was already very nearly done. He checked under the bed, still not ready to look at Hope.

<Hope> She watched him, trying to even process what he was saying. "Here as in... here or here as in this room?"

<Shinobi> "He's back, so I'm not needed, and I certainly can't be in the same room as her. Shinobi swung himself up and sat on the bed, rearranging the pack.

<Hope> She continued to watch him, finally kicking herself into gear. "Then I'm coming with you."

<Shinobi> That made him halt his constant movements.

<Hope> "Together.... or not at all," she told him softly, swallowing hard.

<Shinobi> He swallowed, eyes still trained on the middle distance just beyond her. "I'm not..." Clearing his throat, he wasn't sure how the sentence would finish until he said it. "I'm not leaving."

<Hope> "Okay then..." she chewed her lip, taking a few steps into the room. "Do you need help?"

<Shinobi> "Heh. Yeah, I suppose so." He shook his head and finally looked at her.

<Hope> She broke. She pulled him into a tight hug. "Don't scare me like that again," she whispered.

<Shinobi> Confused, he wasn't quite ready to return the hug, though he turned his head toward her and brushed his nose over her hair. "Like what?"

<Hope> "I thought... that...." She just shut her eyes, trying to steady herself. It was only then that she was aware that she was shaking. "I thought you were leaving. For good."

<Shinobi> He blinked and grabbed her, pulling her away from him so he could see her face. "You did?"

<Hope> She couldn't look at him. She looked down. "You stormed off... started packing your things... talking about leaving..."

<Shinobi> "There's... nowhere to go." He watched her face, shaking his head in realization himself.

<Hope> "We can start with getting you out of this room, because with him back... ew." She looked up at him finally, sliding her hand to his chest.

<Shinobi> "With him back... I'm not needed." The thought wouldn't go away. Shinobi looked down, swallowing. Why was she still touching him?

<Hope> His words stabbed her a bit, causing her to blink. "Is that really what you think?"

<Shinobi> Brow furrowed in confusion, he shook his head, and realized she still had her hand over his heart. "I don't know..." He swallowed and attempted to meet her eyes. "Isn't it true?"

<Hope> "Maybe for Jess, who needs a constant babysitter or she can't function. But me?" She looked into his eyes again. "I thought you were leaving and I said I was coming with you. What does that tell you?"

<Shinobi> That part had escaped him at the moment, but now that he recalled her words, he blinked, then slowly smiled.

<Hope> Hope smiled a little back at him, pulling him into a tight hug, closing her eyes once he couldn't see her face. "I've grown accustomed to your face. I'm not losing you now."

<Shinobi> "Well, it's a fairly unforgettable one, so that's understandable." He closed his eyes and squeezed her, burrowing his face into the crook of her neck.

<Hope> She smiled to herself, holding him a bit more closely. "You aren't replaceable, Shinobi. Not to me. I..." She swallowed, making a bit of a face and glad he couldn't see her struggling with the words. "I kind of need you."

<Shinobi> He sucked in a surprised breath. "You're remarkable..." Shinobi brought his hand up to stroke her hair, only then noticing he was shaking too. "I've never... no one..." This was entirely out of his experience. "I feel it too."

<Hope> She relaxed a bit, moving so she could kiss him softly, gently. "If you don't want to stay somewhere by yourself... you could always stay with me. Either way. Doesn't matter," she shrugged, trying to play it off.

<Shinobi> A slow smile spread across his face. "That would be, well, great. Thanks." He pressed his forehead to hers.

<Hope> "Really?" Hope asked, unable to hide the surprise in her voice.

<Shinobi> "Yeah," he said, but picked up on her tone. "If you really want that, of course."

<Hope> Hope debated on her answer, but finally sighed a bit and nodded. "I do.... want that I mean. Just... didn't want to be all oh hey come move in with me. Yeah..." She shifted her weight a bit.

<Shinobi> He grinned at her. "Understandable. Why else do you think I'm taking so long to just say I really want that?"

<Hope> Hope grinned back at him and gave him a big kiss. "I want you to move in with me!" She laughed.

<Shinobi> "I would love to move in with you." He set his hand over hers on his chest and bowed his head with a slight smirk and a chuckle.

<Hope> It sent an exciting jolt through her from his touch, causing her to smile even more. "Then let me help you pack." She kissed his cheek.

<Shinobi> "I believe I am," he said, picking up her hand and giving it a kiss before he moved to check his pack. "I've had a lifetime of experience in traveling light."

<Hope> "Yeah," she gave him a bit of a sad look. "Unfortunately, I have too. I stashed the things I cared about in the vault at Stark Industries... I don't really know how to get it back out now."

<Shinobi> "Yeah." He closed the pack and stood, offering her his hand. "I suppose Viper might have a few ideas on that should you want to ask." Shinobi cocked his head, thinking it over. "Or, even my father, now that he's awake."

<Hope> Hope shuddered at the father bit. Still weird. "Yeah... I'll ask Bastian if he has a good plan. I don't really know who is in charge of it right now anyway. It's... supposed to be me. After... him..." She swallowed and squeezed Shinobi's hand.

<Shinobi> Bastian. It made him twitch, but she was clearly distressed, and she was with him and not him. "I'm sure we can find out, and if your claim isn't recognized by those idiots in office there might be more covert ways to handle it."

<Hope> "Like killing them all? Because I'm strangely down with that." She kept his hand and walked with him toward their room.

<Shinobi> "Yes," he said with a laugh. "That is the blunt way to put it, yes."

<Hope> She paused, looking up at him. "You know... for the first time... I feel like somebody actually gets me."

<Shinobi> He stopped walking and searched her face. "How do you do that?" The question was entirely rhetorical, and with two fast steps forward he pushed her against the wall for a searing kiss.

<Hope> Surprised, Hope let out a sound in her shock, but quickly caught up with him. She slid one hand to the base of his neck and the other on his waist, sliding up his back as she returned the kiss.

<Shinobi> Fingers already tangled in her hair, he growled into her mouth and wished he'd done this closer to her room. That was when he heard the familiar voices down the hall.

<Hope> Hope barely heard it too, but it didn't register in her mind, or she didn't care. She had Shinobi's undivided attention, and she focused in on that, pressing him closer to her.

<Shinobi> It was the sound of little feet that finally really broke the spell. "Fuck. I don't want to see them... Not in the mood to explain why I'm not staying." He licked his lips and gave her a grin. "Express route?"

<Hope> She kept her arm wrapped around him, shifting to be beside him and smirking. "Lead on."

<Shinobi> Shinobi grinned and phased, taking her with him. "My pleasure." Now lighter than air, he climbed it as if it were a staircase, rising upward until they vanished into the ceiling, just as Miriam Shaw rounded the corner and skidded to a stop, looking up in confusion.

<Hope> It was a very different sensation. Hope hadn't thought of using his powers like that before. She grinned and waved a bit at Miriam before they disappeared through the ceiling. She laughed happily. "This is awesome!"

<Shinobi> "I'm glad you like it. Some people don't." He stopped on the next floor, not far from her room and made sure she was clear of the floor before returning them to their natural densities. "You will have more chance now to practice with my powers if you like."

<Hope> "Yes... yes I will. And with such a good teacher, I should have it down in no time," She smiled, though briefly. "I'm glad you're staying."

<Shinobi> "So am I." He leaned down to give her another kiss, then tugged her hand to head back to their room.

Re: Whatif...? The Sentinels Won

Post by Svartfreja » Fri Dec 26, 2014 6:32 pm

<Viper> Viper had almost finished tidying up the mess Miriam had made of her lab. Really, the child had done her a favour, allowing her to disregard the projects that had long since disinterested her and prioritise the ones she enjoyed and would actually be useful in the current climate. She was currently making modifications to the spiderbot to make it more child friendly - it had, after all, only been a prototype.

<Viper> Now it was looking a lot cleaner and tidier, exposed wires were in the process of being covered up and the programming was being improved upon. The laser canon had been removed and replaced with a water gun.

<Shaw> It was remarkable after sleeping for nearly three weeks that he'd been able to sleep at all last night. But, after a good night's sleep in a real bed with his wife - and daughter, for much of the night, since she wanted to burrow in between them - he felt entirely himself again. This, he suspected was both good and bad news for Sarkissian.

<Shaw> Once again, he just went right into the lab, pausing by the door for a look around.

<Viper> Viper didn't even glance up from her work, "Glad to see you are looking well. Help yourself to coffee, I will be down in a moment." She was sitting atop some scaffolding to apply some more panels to the spiderbot.

<Shaw> "Coffee." This sounded like a fantastic idea, so he quickly located the pot and poured himself a cup, taking a deep appreciative breath and leaning on a work station to watch Sarkissian work.

<Viper> "You'll learn quickly, that only a few places know how to make good coffee, I would suggest avoiding the SHIELD canteens, what they provide is more akin to tar." Covering up the last exposed wire, she climbed down, "Almost finished."

<Shaw> "Almost finished with what? Are you childproofing it?" He wasn't going to admit the coffee was good, but it was, so he sipped it.

<Viper> "Yes... it was never meant to do anything but be an example for my staff to build a larger model but it seems a shame to leave it in a corner when Miriam will get so much enjoyment out of it." She set her tools down on a work station and went to clean her hands of machine oil.

<Shaw> That made him pause mid-swallow. "Pardon?"

<Viper> Viper looked over her shoulder at him, "She will have to earn it, of course."

<Shaw> "Oh, I see, my toddler has to earn the privilege of her own mechanized killing machine. How lovely." His tone dripped distain.

<Viper> She laughed, "I have removed all of the weapons, all it will do is run around and shoot water. I can't have her destroying my resources on a regular basis."

<Shaw> "Mmm." He walked over to the spider to inspect it.

<Viper> After drying her hands, she went to get herself some coffee and watched him circle the spider, "You said you wanted to talk to me, is this still the case?"

<Shaw> "Yes." He sipped the coffee, still circling.

<Viper> "Well then?" She gestured for him to get on with it, "I do have work to do."

<Shaw> "All right. First, Jessica." He watched her over the rim of the cup. "How much damage did she do to herself in my absence? I read her memories, so I know what she knows, but she was very, very drunk, so I'm not certain I trust her recall."

<Viper> "Without running some tests, I can't say for certain but she was healthy before she started drinking and her powers will have cleaned the toxins from her system so I suspect she will be just fine." She leaned against a work bench and sipped her coffee, "Physically, there is nothing to heal."

<Shaw> "What about the baby? Yes, realizing she needs to come in for an examination." Jess still was avoiding that topic.

<Viper> "A woman's body is designed to protect a child at, almost, any cost. Just like her powers will filter her blood, they will also ensure nothing makes it to the child. If you are worried, ask her if she feels healthy. She will know if there is anything wrong." Viper cocked her head on one side, studying his face and posture.

<Shaw> Sebastian tilted his head at the same angle, watching the woman watch him. His eyebrow arched up. "Fair enough, however she still needs a checkup I would assume." He crossed his arms, still holding the half empty cup. "So, as for her psychological state..."

<Viper> "I can give her an exam if she doesn't want to see a doctor," Viper assured him, taking another sip of her coffee, "She needs a safe environment, and I am not talking of physical safety. You are all safe here from the Sentinels but she has been judged by friends and family and found wanting. That will take time."

<Shaw> He nodded. "I saw how Hope Stark and my son reacted to her last night." Sebastian went back to sipping his coffee. "I know Drake is here, and his wife, but are any of her other old friends here? Is Broo still with you?"

<Viper> She sighed, turning to set her coffee down, "He is not the same as you remember."

<Shaw> "No?" Sebastian looked up sharply, circling back around the robot to the woman.

<Viper> "He has... grown up," that seemed to be the most diplomatic way to put it.

<Shaw> "Grown up?" Well, that was a potentially terrifying concept.

<Viper> "Yes... I will speak to him, though, and see if I can lure him out of his lab." She got to her feet, rubbing a spot of oil she could feel on her cheek. That stuff got everywhere somehow.

<Shaw> "Very good. And secondly," he started, pausing to take a drink and watching her fuss with her face. "This is quite the operation you've put together here."

<Viper> She smirked, "My, my, is that a compliment?"

<Shaw> "Don't press it." He flashed his teeth at her. "But I suppose it is, after a fashion. And, since we're here for the mutual cause... what can I do to help?"

<Viper> "You can do what everyone else does. Spend two weeks settling in and then wait for your work assignment. I like people to be familiar with their new home before expecting them to work. For some, it takes longer than others."

<Shaw> "Work assignment?" He tilted his head and smirked. "I assure you, I will not be your janitor."

<Viper> She laughed, "Have no fear, Sebastian. Everyone gets a job that plays to their strengths."

<Shaw> "I'm not entirely certain I would trust your assessment of my skills, madam."

<Viper> "Ah but you should. My assessments are most trustworthy - they ignore all the emotional things that often get in the way of people telling you how they really think you're doing."

<Shaw> "Let me put it this way. Tony Stark is dead." He had to pause for a moment, though he didn't let his reaction show. "But you have Hope, and now you have me, and I hope you're not foolish enough to squander those resources."

<Viper> Viper raised an eyebrow at him, "Sebastian Shaw, do not make the mistake of thinking you can intimidate me into doing your bidding. You will be assigned where you are assigned when you have had time to settle in. That is how I run things. If you do not like your assignment when you receive it, you are welcome to appeal. No one here gets any special treatment."

<Shaw> Sebastian crossed his arms and sneered. "Ophelia Sarkissian, you should not make the mistake of thinking I'm yours to order."

<Viper> "If you wish to remain here, you will follow the same rules as everybody else." Her posture remained relaxed, "The system works, you will see that for yourself in the coming weeks. If you don't like it, you are welcome to leave but there are few safe places left in the world for mutants. Good luck finding one with as good a supply line."

<Shaw> "Oh, please, you wouldn't toss Jessica back out to the wolves now that she's here. Really, it likely would have been in your best interest to let me die, wouldn't it? Why didn't you?"

<Viper> "Jessica wouldn't have to leave," Viper countered, "So the question is, would you rather abandon her than follow my rules? If you have to ask me why I helped save your life, you may want to take a look around. This place is a safe haven for mutants. All mutants. I do not play favourites, I do not turn away people who need my help. We all need to work together if we want to live."

<Shaw> They both knew Jess wasn't going anywhere without him, so he disregarded that absurd notion. "And I still have connections and necessary skills to advance that cause, yet you wish to play this little game with me?"

<Viper> "Your connections saw you arrive here in a coma," Viper pointed out, "But, by all means, take your pregnant wife back out into the world and try again."

<Shaw> "You're quite stuck on that point. Perhaps you should check your power source?"

<Viper> "Sebastian, I am merely trying to suggest you think about your position. You are all safe here, why jepordise that over a matter of pride when this may not even be an issue? Settle in, look around, reconnect with old friends and colleagues and, when you are ready, you will have work."

<Shaw> "But you haven't the slightest what that work might be until you've assessed me?" He laughed, helping himself to more of her coffee.

<Viper> "I don't think you should be worrying about that until you have settled in. Most people are just glad for the time to relax and get back into a normal pattern of waking and sleeping without running to hide from Sentinels every few hours."

<Shaw> "I'm not most people, am I?"

<Viper> "No, you are not. But I have told you, you will be placed where you are needed. I do not squander the talents of anyone in this place."

<Shaw> "Then, as I've already said, since this is a circular argument, why don't we just dispense with the song and dance. What can I do to end this ridiculous Sentinel threat? Mere survival is not a long-term option."

<Viper> "I am working on several angles. I have Broo working on disabling them, I am working on defence and I have Hope working with Pietro on offense. So you tell me. What can you do?"

<Shaw> He considered this, sipping his coffee. "What are they doing? In terms of offense?"

<Viper> "Building some robots of our very own. Something they have that we do not is numbers, I thought it wise to level the playing field somewhat."

<Shaw> "Do you know what Tony was working on before..." Sebastian stopped, looking down into his cup and clearing his throat.

<Viper> "Yes. It may be the end of the world as we know it but Hydra still has spies everywhere... would you like to see?"

<Shaw> That made him look up. "See?"

<Viper> "Unfortunately we don't have hardware... yet." She went to her computer, pulling up the schematics on the large hologaphic screens before transfering it to a 3D render in front of him.

<Shaw> Sebastian stepped closer and read over the schematics. "Has Hope seen this?" He raised a hand to trace over the lines of the hologram.

<Viper> "No, not yet... I thought it too soon. It has been quite a difficult couple of weeks. I wanted to wait until things settled down before distracting her again."

<Shaw> "I want to work on this, with her, when she's ready." He was still engrossed.

<Viper> "I will allow that... as long as the projects I set take priority."

<Shaw> Sebastian decided he would let that allow slide, since he was looking at Tony's last work. "We will finish this for him," he said quietly.

<Viper> Viper watched him curiously, it was interesting to see how different people dealt with losses. She would never feel these things the same way they did.

<Shaw> He sniffed, blinked several times, and then turned back to Viper. "Right."

<Viper> She cleared the image, "Now. For the time being, will you please relax. Settle in, grieve for your loss. I will speak to Broo about seeing Jessica though I think it would help to get the rest of your family back on her side so, if you get bored, perhaps you can try that."

<Shaw> Pursing his lips, he considered this. This round with Sarkissian he was willing to concede as a draw, since it meant Tony's vision could become reality. "I assume, since you haven't mentioned anything about it, that Shinobi is still in the facility, somewhere?"

<Viper> "Yes, he's still here. I'm sure you know where... if you think about it." She went to get herself some more coffee.

<Shaw> "Mmm." He sipped his coffee. Hope, with Shinobi. No, nothing could possibly go wrong there.

<Viper> "As for Jessica, I will stop by and see her later, see if there is anything I can do for her." She leaned against her work station and sipped her coffee, "Was there anything else?"

<Shaw> "For the time being, no." He gave her his best predator's grin and downed the last swallow of coffee.

<Viper> "Then, if you don't mind, I have work to do."

<Shaw> Sebastian took his time to stroll over and refill his mug. "Perhaps I would like to watch you work? It might help me to... settle in."

<Viper> "Unfortunately, the next few hours will be filled with me checking up on projects that my staff are working on. It will be very boring for you... and you will probably disapprove of my methods. Most people do and I find it incredibly tedious."

<Shaw> "Oh, but perhaps I want to study at the elbow of the master." He was still grinning.

<Viper> "That may be so but, even if I believed you, I would still tell you that for the next two weeks you will be settling in. Only after this would I accept your company. I already told you, you should rest first, work can wait."

<Shaw> Sebastian made an irritated noise. "You have no sense of humor, madam. Or adventure." He turned to go, taking her coffee with him. "Fine. Have it your way. I'll be prepared to offer my own suggestions for improvement in operations by the end of your two weeks."

<Viper> "And I will ignore every one of them," she raised her cup in toast, "Enjoy your vacation.

<Broo> "Nononononononono this doesn't make sense. No sense. No sense at all. None. No sense. Nonononono sense." The large insect creature said while perched on a broken chair, one hand typing away on one keyboard, another tapping on a different keyboard, and his secondary pair of hands rotating and scanning through the hologram projection of a new weapons concept.

<Broo> "That doesn't work like that. Work like that. It doesn't." He kept talking to himself, half the time sentences meshing together into almost one word as he babbled. There wasn't anyone else in the room, except for him, and that was exactly how he preferred it. Humans kept messing up his work.

<Viper> Viper had looked in on a few projects she needed to keep an eye on and now had some free time so she decided to follow up on her promise to Sebastian and visit Broo. She took the elevator down to the lab and let herself in without knocking, "Good afternoon, Brooklyn. How are you today?"

<Broo> The cacophony of keyboard clicking came to a sudden stop along with his talking. Everything except the humming of the machinery was silent for a moment, before Brooklyn looked over his shoulder with a complete blank stare behind his darkened glasses, before smiling and saying, "Doing excellent, very excellent, magnificent. Truly sublime. Are you here for my reports? Reports. Reports?" he asked.

<Viper> "If you have reports I will take them but I am here on a more personal note." Viper closed the distance between them, eyes sweeping the holographic screens.

<Broo> "Oh? Personal? Personal. Personnel. Need to file a complaint about Ms Kabolski at bio RnD. Her perfume. Too much. Much too much. My scanners keep picking up femto-particles of her perfume. It is causing delays in my work." Brooklyn said while he pulled open a drawer and slid a claw over the folders, pulling one out and holding it for Viper to take while his eyes were back on the hologram. "Report."

<Viper> Viper took the report, tucking it under an arm for later perusal, "I will speak with her for you," she assured him, "Your sister is here."

<Broo> "Sister. Nun? No. Sister. Jessica? Yes!" Brooklyn twisted around and climbed off his chair. "Jessica is here? Is she well? She is well. No, she's not well. Sad. She's sad and angry. Yes? No. That was the past. How is she now?"

<Viper> "She is pregnant. Sebastian is concerned for her wellbeing and he asked if you were here, he thought seeing you might make her feel better. Do you think that would help her?" At least she had his attention, that was a small victory these days.

<Broo> "Pregnant? With child? Again? This is good. Very good. Earlier calculations of mutant population decline must be reworked. Not now. Now I must see Jessica. Yes. Affirmative and positive emotions greatly helps the growing fetus during times of crisis such as wars or famine. Which are we in now?"

<Viper> "Oh definitely war," Viper studied him for a moment, "Jessica has expressed insecurity about having a second child."

<Broo> "Nonsense! Best time is now. If she waits until after war, the child's future will lead to depression and anxiety due to the lack of employment. Many babies are born after wars. Too much competing with each other when grown. Best to do it now, and be sure the child will have a prosperous future while the others are still in school."

<Viper> "I agree but her concerns are more immediate. She does not feel safe, she fears not having the ability to raise another child successfully. What can we do to help her feel better?"

<Broo> "Destroy all the Sentinels?" he suggested. "Relocate her to the most secure facility there is?" he suggested again. "Put her in a medically induced coma until the child is born and raised to be able to fend for itself?" he suggested for the final time.

<Viper> "Destroying all the Sentinels will take time we do not have. This is our most secure facility, that's why we bring mutants here... and I somehow think Sebastian will not agree to putting his wife in a coma when he has just come out of one himself... but, perhaps, we can keep that suggestion in reserve. Do you have any more?"

<Broo> "Would you like me to include suggestions that involve more science than necessary, or more practical suggestions?" he asked, but continued anyway, "Create a safe haven not on earth. Or not in this reality. Your choice which, both are within my capabilities. More practical, I could visit her and ask her what she would like. She would like."

<Viper> "Yes... I think that would be a good idea. Would you like me to bring her down here or shall I take you to her?"

<Broo> "Bring her down? No. Nononononono. She is pregnant. Too many variables here. Could affect the fetus' growth. A little mutation goes a long way. We don't want to add any more. Up. We go up. Yes, we go up to her."

<Viper> "Alright... she doesn't yet know you are here so it will be a surprise." She turned for the door, "I can warn her or we can continue with the surprise."

<Broo> "Warning would take too long. Much too long. Come, come along, we're going up. Out out, the laboratory is closed, out out. " Brooklyn said as he actually started ushering Viper out of the lab, and hanging a sign on the doors with the words 'Laser turrets are active. Lose limbs at own risk.'

<Viper> Viper went ahead of him to the elevator back to the rest of the facility, opening the report to begin reading along the way.

<Broo> As they stood and waited for the elevator that was stuck on the ground floor, Brooklyn started getting impatient. He reached into a pocket and pulled out a bunch of keycards on a ring. He flipped through them and held out one that said Elevator, waving it in front of the up button and the indicator above the doors showed the elevator dropping like a rock, slowing down at their floor. "After you."

<Viper> Viper raised an eyebrow at him, "I'm not sure that was wise. There are pregnant women that use these elevators, you know." Viper stepped over an agent that had passed out from the shock of the speedy descent and nudged him with her foot. There was a groan so he was still alive. He'd get over it.

<Broo> "Not currently." Brooklyn replied, taking his glasses off for the first time as he stepped over the agent as well. He showed the glasses to Viper, more importantly the micro screen that was installed for the one lens. "When I updated the security system I decided to link the feed to my personal screen. I checked before I summoned the elevator."

<Viper> Viper laughed, "Well I am glad that your forward thinking has taken some improvement." She pressed the button for the floor that Jessica's room occupied.

<Broo> "Would you like the express?" he asked, holding up the card.

<Viper> "I would like time to read," she indicated the file in her hands. "But I suppose I can do that while you speak to Jessica."

<Broo> The card was swiped and the ride took a fraction of the time to get to the correct floor. The agent mumbled something and tried to pull himself up against the side of the elevator, took one look up and the first thing he saw was Brooklyn's face staring rather close down at him. "You seem to have a vitamin B12 deficiency. I suggest you eat eggs, milk, cheese, meat, fish, and poultry."

<Viper> The poor agent passed out again, "I frequently question how that one has stayed alive so long." Viper tutted and stepped out into the hall to lead the way to Jessica's room.

<Jessica> It was lunch time so, in theory, Jessica should have been with the rest of her family having said lunch. But she wasn't. Things were still unbearably tense with Shinobi and she didn't think she could manage the combined forces of he and Hope so Sebastian had gone along with Miriam and Sharky, leaving her to her own devices, which consisted largely of staring at the wall and trying not to freak out.

<Broo> As they neared the room, Brooklyn stepped forward to knock on the door. "Jessica, open up. I was assigned to help your serotonin, endorphins, and ghrelin levels to a perfect standard for childbearing. Also I want to say hi."

<Jessica> Her staring at the wall became more intense as the familiar voice registered and processed then she jumped up off the bed, ran across the room and pulled the door open to fling her arms around Broo's shoulders. Only after she'd done this did she realise how tall he suddenly was and that he had two sets of shoulders.

<Viper> Viper opened up her file and leaned against the opposite wall.

<Broo> Brooklyn's upper arms held around Jess' in the embrace while his lower ones wrapped around her waist. "I have been informed you are growing something new. I grew some new things as well," he said, attempting humour.

<Jessica> "I see that!" She stepped back from him to look him over, "You got big!" She gave him another hug then gestured him inside the room.

<Broo> "Twice actually." he said walking in. "I got big twice. Metamorphosis to some degree. First time was a new pair of arms and some height, and the second time more height with wings. I rather enjoy flying."

<Jessica> "Flying is a lot of fun," she agreed, "But there's not many safe places to do that these days..." she gestured for Viper to come in too, feeling rude to leave her out in the hall.

<Viper> Viper straightened up and accepted the invitation, closing the door behind her and settling on the corner of what had been Shinobi's bed to continue reading the file.

<Broo> "I have suggested to Ms Viper that we could create safe havens that are not earth based. The Sentinels do not yet have the capacity for space travel. Otherwise the alternative is a safe haven that is not based in our reality. However there are some concerns when opening up portals to pocket universes."

<Jessica> "I, um... don't think I can travel to space..." Jess looked betweem Broo and Viper, "What's this about?"

<Broo> "Lateral thinking on how to cheer you up." Brooklyn informed her. "Though currently I am more inclined to just ask you. How are you? How do you feel? Is there anything I can do for you?"

<Jessica> She pushed a hand through her hair and sat down on her bed, "The answer to all of those questions is 'I don't know'."

<Broo> "Excellent, I feared you would have a final answer to all of those and then our dialogue would end prematurely." Brooklyn clapped both set of hands and rubbed them together. "Let's get psychological."

<Jessica> Her eyebrows went up a little, "Um... okay?" She was a little alarmed and extremely confused.

<Viper> Viper glanced up from her reading, "Brooklyn, perhaps you should slow down. How about you tell Jessica what you've been doing for the past three years?"

<Broo> "Slow down? Slow down. Yes, slowing down. Catching up, reforming emotional bonds through sharing of past experiences. That would work as well. " Booklyn sat down."Currently I am creating a globalized electromagnetic pulse targeting system."

<Jessica> She blinked, "That sounds... complicated? And useful, I guess? Is it going well?"

<Broo> "Very much so, we are ready to test whole regions that would have constant electro magnetic pulses to make sure no Sentinel can block them."

<Jessica> "But... what about the other technology in the area? What about hospitals and stuff? Will they still work?"

<Broo> "Oh, yes, that is what took me so long to develop, the correct frequency for the pulses to only affect the specific hardware Sentinels use."

<Jessica> She smiled, "Good. That's really good."

<Viper> Viper glanced up from her file, "I would like you to coordinate with Hope and Pietro so that the project they are working on remains unaffected by the pulses, Brooklyn. When it is ready, of course."

<Broo> "Ah yes, I will do that. Or maybe I already emailed them about it... moment please." He quickly said and held his dark glasses to his eyes, his head moving quickly as he accessed his files. "There, scheduled a meeting to coordinate testing. Testing."

<Viper> "I'm not sure they're quite there yet but at least that will make them work faster," Viper smiled and went back to her file.

<Jessica> "I'm glad you're okay, Broo... and keeping busy."

<Broo> "Busy mind keeps it from..... something, forgetting I think. Not sure. Yes, keeping busy, attention does not stray to thinking things that worries a person. Like the complete destruction of all mutants worldwide within the next eight months if the Sentinels are not stopped. Yes, busy is good."

<Viper> Viper cleared her throat unneccessarily with Broo's prediction. That was exactly the kind of thing Jessica didn't need to hear.

<Jessica> The effect on his sister was almost instantaneous, she crawled further onto the bed and curled up in a ball.

<Broo> "Hmm? Oh, yes, well there is no need to worry about that now. We are doing something about it, and they will be stopped, and in ten years from now when the mutants have enslaved humans, you will tell your children all about how their uncle is the reason why they are considered demigods." Brooklyn beamed with pride.

<Jessica> Children plural. She was not optimistic about this at all. She found the corner of the blanket and pulled, folding the blanket over herself, effectively hiding her from view.

<Viper> Viper sighed, putting down her file and going over to Jessica, glancing at Broo on the way with a raised eyebrow. "Jessica, you are safe here. Whatever I can do to make you feel this way, consider it done. All you need to do is ask."

<Broo> Brooklyn was about to add his idea of a coma, but reason finally won over and he kept silent.

<Jessica> She wasn't sure what to tell Viper, she didn't know what would make it easier for her. She was grateful for the offer, however, and decided a hug was in order.

<Viper> A little alarmed by this turn of events, Viper reminded herself that Jessica was quite tactile and returned the hug with as little stiffness as she could muster.

<Broo> Brooklyn was unsettled at the show of affection coming from Viper. A smaller hand had silently reached into his pocket to hold his smart glasses to scan the moment.

<Viper> After a moment, Viper decided she may as well approach the other topic, "Sebastian has expressed concerns about your health given your recent decisions," she looked down at Jessica, "I suggested you may not be willing to submit to examination by the medical staff but you might let me do it. If you don't want any tests, that is fine, but you have choices."

<Jessica> She nodded, still not loosening her hold, "I'll think about it... can I just come and find you when I decide?"

<Viper> "Of course. The same goes for if you think of a way I can make this easier for you. I told Sebastian I do not give anyone special treatment... that was a small lie. For you, I will make the exception - and Brooklyn, of course."

<Broo> "I am close to getting my medical practitioner license, once I have it, you can come to me as well if you would like a checkup - and I just realised there might be some unusual awkwardness due to the fact that I am your brother..."

<Jessica> Jess had to laugh at that, "Yeah... just a bit. Thanks for the offer though, Broo." She finally released Viper and pushed a hand through her hair, "Thanks for trying to make me feel better..."

<Broo> "Excellent, my attempt at humour has succeeded." He said with pride.

<Viper> "We will leave you to think about it," Viper straightened up and turned for the door, "Come and see me in my lab when you have a decision. If I am not there, you are welcome to wait for me - I will adjust my security to permit you to enter unsupervised, but only you." She didn't want Sebastian poking around in there.

<Jessica> She nodded, giving Viper a smile, "Thanks... I appreciate it." She got up and went to give Broo another hug.

<Broo> This time Brooklyn was much more prepared for the incoming hug, squeezing her tightly with bot sets of arms, and adding "If you like, i can get one of my handybots to follow you around as a personal butler. They are very useful, except in the rain. Then they are just very sparky."

<Jessica> "I don't think Sebastian's going to let me go outside for the forseeable future so that's unlikely to be a problem," She returned the squeeze, "I'll think about that too." She pressed a kiss to his carapace-y cheek.

<Broo> He nuzzled her with a mandible before letting go.

<Viper> Viper picked up the file she'd abandoned earlier and opened the door, "See you soon, Jessica."

<Shinobi> It was warmer than he was accustomed to. Shinobi woke up with a slight smile and stretched, still fuzzy from sleep. He buried his face in the pillow and caught a familiar scent. Why did his pillow smell like Hope?

<Hope> The redhead lay next to him on her small bed. Rolling over in her sleep, her arm flinging over him, Hope mumbled a bit incoherently.

<Shinobi> Shinobi opened his eyes. That was the reason why. The events of the last day or so returned and he felt himself tense up, hoping she hadn't had time to rethink her offer.

<Hope> Realizing she was touching something, Hope moved her hand up and down on his body. It was a person. She opened one eye.

<Shinobi> The touch wasn't really sensual... just flaily. Shinobi caught her hand and rolled over.

<Hope> She brought their hands up between them, squeezing his hand. She moved in closer to him, opening both eyes finally.

<Shinobi> "Hi." He smiled, turning his trapped hand to squeeze hers and brushing her hair back with his other.

<Hope> "Hey," she smiled back at him, snuggling down into the blankets and him. Why didn't she have a coffee maker in her room? She would have to fix that. Pronto.

<Shinobi> "This... is nice." His heart clenched and he wrapped his arm around her.

<Hope> Laughing a little, Hope closed her eyes. "Should have done this sooner," she muttered. Forget the logistics preventing that.

<Shinobi> "Mmm, I agree." She felt wonderful, cuddled close against him. "Do we really need to get up?"

<Hope> "Yes... but not for awhile maybe?" She did need to go to the lab, but if she tapped into Pietro, she could catch up on the work she missed. She brought a hand up to stroke his face, smiling at him. "Work can wait."

<Shinobi> "Good, because we have things to do here." He grinned at her, tucking her hair behind her ear and giving her a good morning kiss.

<Hope> She grinned into the kiss, her hand running over his body in a different way this time. "How can I refuse my Obi?" She asked him, nuzzling him.

<Shinobi> He drew back just enough to see her face, giving her a questioning look.

<Hope> His look surprised her a bit. "Unless... of course... you don't like that nickname?"

<Shinobi> "I..." Shinobi stared at the wall briefly, then back at her with a slight smile. "I've never had a nickname?"

<Hope> "Oh... oh!" She caught his smile and returned it with one of her own. "Do you like it? Because we can change it. Or delete it. Or whatever you want." She covered her mouth with her hand to shut herself up. Coffee. She needed coffee. She couldn't think properly.

<Shinobi> He took her wrist and tugged her hand down. "I like it," he grinned. "I do have a fairly terrible name."

<Hope> Her face flushed just a bit. "I like your name... it's just kind of long." She leaned in to kiss him again, softly on his lips.

<Shinobi> Prolonging the kiss, he smiled. "Do you know what it means?"

<Hope> She blinked a little. "Uhhhh that you are a badass Jedi?"

<Shinobi> "Jedi?" He laughed and kissed her. "It means ninja, apparently. It's not even a real name."

<Hope> "Ninja..." she let that sink in, grinning. "I have a badass ninja boyfriend! That explains that thing you do," she told him, grinning a bit.

<Shinobi> He couldn't even be annoyed. "So I'm a ninja?" He laughed, rolling onto his back and pulling her on top of him.

<Hope> "Yeah I think you are. Dark... mysterious... and incredibly sexy." She shifted to get comfortable on top of him, resting her head on his chest.

<Shinobi> "And Japanese," he added with another laugh, stroking her hair and trying in vain to put it in order.

<Hope> "And that," she grinned, sitting up so she could look down at him. "I'm really glad we decided to try this whole dating thing. I'm..." she debated saying it, weighing her options. It wasn't fair to withhold her emotions from him. Not now. "Happy."

<Shinobi> Shinobi smiled up at her, heart in his throat. "Me too..." His hands clutched her hips, then skimmed over her skin so he could cross his arms over her back and drag her close again. "You make me very happy."

<Hope> Laying back down on top of him, Hope stroked his cheek and closed her eyes. "You too," she told him softly. "I really have grown accustomed to you," she told him, swallowing hard.

<Shinobi> "Accustomed?" It made him snort softly.

<Hope> "Okay so I am used to having you around and I like it," She kissed the tip of his nose. "That better?"

<Shinobi> "Yeah," he chuckled, craning his neck up to peck her lips and rest his forehead against hers.

<Hope> Hope smiled down at him, stroking his cheek as her red hair fell around them. "Hear my soul speak. Of the very instant that I saw you, Did my heart fly at your service," she whispered to him, kissing him softly again.

<Shinobi> Head dropping back onto the pillow, he looked up at her. Somehow, he recognized it and smirked. "Trust the bard to make everything more complicated."

<Hope> She smiled down at him before laying her head down on his chest. "Maybe. But I would not wish any companion in the world but you." She placed several kisses on his face.

<Shinobi> "I get it." He kissed the top of her head, nuzzling her hair. "I get it, and I feel the same way."

<Hope> She relaxed in his hold, eyes shut tight. "Now if I can just keep you safe," she told him softly.

<Shinobi> "This place seems pretty safe." Breathing slowly, he memorized this feeling.

<Hope> "It better be," she sat up again to look down at him. Like hell was she losing him now.

<Shinobi> Since he'd lost his warm blanket of red hair, he slowly sat up and stretched. "Jess thought so, otherwise we wouldn't be here."

<Hope> There was a nagging thought in the back of her mind, one that never went away. She wanted to tell him she doubted how much longer that would be the case. There were far too many mutants in one place. They couldn't hide forever.

<Hope> However, seeing his face, with his hair mussed from sleep, she lost her nerve. She smiled and kissed him tenderly. "You're right. It's safe here."

Re: Whatif...? The Sentinels Won

<Paige> With Ripley in class, Paige had nothing to do except her job. Which meant resting since she was on bed rest. She settled down on the couch and poked at her tummy, grinning as the baby moved.

<Shaw> Sebastian had made that coffee last. After bullying a Hydra lackey into showing him the quarters of all of the former X-Men, he had wandered past Hope's door. His telepathy told him that, yes, they were indeed both in there. That was a problem for another time, however.

<Shaw> For now, he wanted to find Paige Drake. Locating the proper door, he knocked.

<Paige> Paige looked from her tummy to the door. With great difficulty, she got to her feet and moved to answer it. "Coming!" She opened it up and stared at the man in front of her.

<Shaw> "My... there's more of you than I remember." His eyes were drawn to the bump, but he quickly recovered to grin at her.

<Paige> "Cookie?" She pulled him to her as best she could, hugging him tightly. "You are okay!"

<Shaw> "I am!" He stooped to return the hug, as carefully as he could. "It's so good to see you, love."

<Paige> "Come on in!" She moved aside so he could get in around her. "Ripley is in school, so it's just us for awhile." Who knew when Bobby would turn up.

<Shaw> "Oh?" He wondered where her husband was, but shrugged it aside and went in. The quarters weren't much different from what he now shared with Jess and Miriam. Finally, he turned back to her. "When are you due?"

<Paige> "Soon. Another month or so," she smiled at him, going to take a seat. "You... Might not want to sit right next to me though."

<Shaw> Since he'd been preparing to do just that, on the sofa, he paused. "Do you expect to pop?"

<Paige> "It's not that....its..." She glanced around. "It's Bobby. He's gotten... Very protective in his state. He's stuck in his ice form." She shifted uncomfortably,

<Shaw> "Ah, yes, I heard. Jess caught me up on a few things." He put down his empty coffee mug and took a seat on the opposite end of the sofa. "Surely he no longer holds that pointless grudge against me?"

<Paige> "He nearly killed Phil for touching me, Sebastain. I don't want to take any chances." She eased back into her seat. "So how are you now?"

<Shaw> "I'm perfectly well." He sat forward. "I heard he also had an... incident... with Jess."

<Paige> "He did!?" She sat up better. "Is she ok? What happened? I told her not to push him..."

<Shaw> Oh, well... "I'm sorry, perhaps I shouldn't have said anything. She is fine, fortunately. I believe it was last week?"

<Paige> Paige sighed, frustrated. "I'm so sorry, Sebastian. He's just not... Not fully himself. It's so easy to set him off right now."

<Shaw> "How long has he been like this?" Sebastian's gaze fell to her belly again, and he realized he could see the baby moving.

<Paige> "Six months. I had just found out...." She looked down at her stomach, swallowing. "Sentinel attack locked his power on."

<Shaw> "And they haven't found any means of restoring his control? Or even blocking his abilities?" That sounded... peculiar, to say the least. And she looked distressed, and tired. He remembered that look well from Jess' pregnancy. Sebastian slid just a bit closer to her and offered her his hand.

<Paige> Paige looked at his hand, but shook her head no. She wasn't about to give her husband a reason to snap. "Viper says she has tried and was unable. He started avoiding us... He just came back."

<Shaw> "I'm sorry." He curled his fingers and rested his hand on his knee. "I can't imagine..." Although, he'd nearly subjected Jess to the same isolation.

<Paige> "Me too," she told him softly. "Phil said some things. I... I don't know if there is any merit to them, but now I kind of wonder." She hid her face s bit with her hands. She was a horrible wife.

<Shaw> "Said what?" He wanted to comfort her, but she was terrified, so he stayed on his side of the sofa, though he did turn toward her.

<Paige> "He said Bobby... Was abusive. Because of how possessive he's gotten. Course then he tried to get me to leave him." She rubbed her stomach again. "All I want is my family back."

<Shaw> Sebastian considered this. "Perhaps it's something you should consider. Most definitely if he could injure you... or your child. Or Ripley." That girl must be four or five by now as well.

<Paige> She looked over at him, weighing his words. "I don't know anymore," she barely breathed out. "He's doing better... Since then. But it's scary to think about."

<Shaw> "Well, love, you would know him best." Sebastian was still watching her closely, and wondering what game Sarkissian was playing that she hadn't simply blocked his abilities.

<Paige> "I got taken out of work to rest." She reached out for his hand this time. "It's good to have friends again. Hope does what she can but she's hardly fluffy and soft."

<Shaw> He laughed and took her hand, giving it a squeeze. "And you're implying I am?"

<Paige> "Yes." She teased with a smile.

<Shaw> "I wasn't immobile that long." He gave his midsection a poke in demonstration.

<Paige> She laughed and touched his cheek. "At least you are back. Sorry if I nicked you shaving, I don't see any lingering marks." She gave him a smile, which turned sad. "Bobby won't get to hold his child."

<Shaw> Sebastian trapped her hand against his cheek with his own. "That was you?" When her expression changed, he made a sympathetic sound. "I'm so very sorry, Paige." Drake be damned, he slid his arm around her. "You'll be all right."

<Paige> She choked on her sob, hugging him. "It was me. I couldn't let you look raggedy." Like the raggedy doctor. The memory was painful in and of itself. "Will I? I'm basically a single mom. Of two. He can't help me."

<Shaw> "My vanity thanks you, my dear." He held her, though he did cast a wary eye around the room. "Perhaps not, but I'm here now, and Jessica. We can help you."

<Paige> "She said she would talk to Viper about him. Maybe you two can convince Viper to take it seriously."

<Shaw> "Indeed. Or circumvent her entirely." He kissed the top of her head.

<Paige> "If it gets my husband back? You could shoot her and I wouldn't care," she closed her eyes, missing Bobby's touch.

<Shaw> "Well, point of fact, I have shot her before. Didn't take." His tone was light, and he gave her a squeeze. "You realize, I have some experience with building inhibitors, yes?"

<Paige> She looked up at him, pleading with her eyes. "Please, Sebastian. I need my husband. His children need him."

<Shaw> "I know. I will do everything I can to help. Hopefully he will be cooperative." Those big, sad blue eyes were certainly magic. Drake must be frozen indeed.

<Paige> She nodded, backing away from him a bit. "Thank you. Really, thank you." She smiled weakly.

<Shaw> "It's my pleasure." He lightly touched her belly. "All this stress... it's not good for either of you. Do you know if you're having a boy or girl?"

<Paige> Paige shook her head no. "We want to be surprised. But that stress? That's why I'm not allowed to work. I might have collapsed."

<Shaw> "Perhaps then we can alleviate that stress sooner rather than later. I'll get to work later today." He nodded and decided to enlist Hope to help him with this project. The baby moved and he smiled. "I always loved that feeling, when Jess was pregnant with Miriam."

<Paige> Paige smiled and rubbed her stomach too. "Baby Drake kicks like crazy when Bobby is around." She looked back up at him, swallowing hard. "Thank you, Sebastian. Sincerely."

<Shaw> "You're welcome." He was still watching her belly, and chased the movement to feel it. "She - or he - knows her father's voice then. That's good." He smiled, a little sadly. "I need to tell this to someone, although Jess may not appreciate it." Sebastian looked back up to meet her eyes. "She's pregnant with our second child."

<Paige> "Oh that's wonderful!" Paige pounced him for a hug.

<Shaw> This was more like the Paige he knew, and he laughed and returned the hug. "She's concerned about it, for many reasons. So, I think I'm the only one of us excited by this news."

<Paige> "Well I'm excited for all of us! Baby Drake will have a friend!" She laughed, squeezing him.

<Shaw> "Yes, she absolutely will." He closed his eyes, hoping she was right.

<Paige> "Hey no spoilers! If you know... Don't tell me."

<Shaw> That made him pause, then laugh. "No, I don't know. It doesn't quite work that way."

<Paige> "Ohhh ok," she laughed. "I am still looking forward to being surprised. I set up a little nursery. They found me some simple black and white things for it."

<Shaw> "So you can personalize it later," he surmised. "Well, if you need any help, you know I'm here."

<Paige> "Of course. And you know I'm here too," she poked him gently. "I don't go far."

<Shaw> "I'm certain you don't," he chuckled, unable to resist the chance to play with the baby again.

<Paige> Paige giggled and relaxed, letting him do so. "Thanks for coming, Sebastian. It gets... Lonely."

<Shaw> The smile he gave her was entirely sincere. "Not anymore."

Set around the time of the broo/jess instance

<Shaw> After lunch with Miriam, and attempting to bring lunch back to Jess, there was still no sign of his other wayward children. Sebastian decided to do a bit of snooping. Hope's lab was easy to find, especially after he persuaded another of Sarkissian's lackeys to help him.

<Shaw> Unfortunately, it was empty. But, this presented another opportunity, didn't it? Sarkissian said she was working on offensive robots. He'd just take a peek and see if she was on the right track.

<Shaw> Coffee in hand, he hacked into her system and started reading files.

<Hope> Coffee in her own hand, Hope returned to her lab to continue her work. She raised an eyebrow at seeing Sebastian at her computer. "Can I help you?"

<Shaw> "I was about to ask you the same." He'd heard her coming, and he turned to face her with a shit-eating grin and sipped his coffee.

<Hope> "No. I don't. This is my project." She took a sip, leaning on the doorframe. "Shinobi is helping me with it. And Pietro."

<Shaw> "Pietro I heard, and I plan to pay him a visit soon as well. Shinobi as well?" He leaned slightly, expecting his son to turn up at any moment.

<Hope> "Yes." She took another sip. "So I ask again. Can I help you with something?"

<Shaw> Sebastian gave a long-suffering sigh and put down his cup to cross his arms. "You could, but perhaps I needn't have bothered."

<Hope> "Then ask. Don't go snooping through my things." She moved to sit down beside him.

<Shaw> "I was just having a look." He raised an eyebrow at her.

<Hope> "Then ask," she repeated. "So what is it you had in mind?"

<Shaw> "Where is Shinobi?"

<Hope> She just stared at him. "That's what you came to ask me? Go find him yourself!" She pulled her equipment from him to work on better pass coding.

<Shaw> "No," he said slowly. "That isn't what I came for, but I thought I would ask."

<Hope> "Probably somewhere avoiding your wonderful wife." She started typing away quickly, trying to come up with codes he wouldn't think of.

<Shaw> "Jess took Miriam to her preschool after lunch." He focused inwardly for a moment to locate her.

<Hope> "So she is capable of being a mother. Fascinating! I hadn't seen this since arrival." Hopes eyes never left the screen.

<Shaw> "And, of course, I'm responsible for her actions while I was unconscious." Sebastian turned in the chair to watch her profile.

<Hope> "Hardly. You are responsible for enabling her by not doing anything to hold her accountable for her actions while you were unconscious."

<Shaw> "Shall I ground her?" His eyes drifted to the screen to see what she was furiously typing.

<Hope> "I don't know but patting her on the head and telling her she's fine?" She slammed the screen down, rubbing her forehead. "It's infuriating! She can do no wrong. Everyone just forgives her like she's this delicate little snowflake. Sebastian, she didn't even take care of her damn kid! She left it to Shinobi. It's not right!"

<Shaw> "I know. I saw what she experienced." He tapped his temple. "I'm not pleased, and she knows this, but of course I forgave her. She's my wife. I love her."

<Hope> "Yeah. Okay." Hope lifted the screen hand went back to her recoding of her security. "I almost lost him. Because of her," she told him softly. "And she still hasn't said anything to me about Tony."

<Shaw> He looked at her sharply, a frown on his face. "It was that bad?" While it was true he'd shared her memories, some of them had been horribly disjointed.

<Hope> "Why do you think he's avoiding her?" She asked, looking up at him finally. "I watched him nearly die beside me and I couldn't sync to save him. I finally did, but it shouldn't have happened."

<Shaw> "No, it shouldn't have. It was an accident, but, yes, a preventable one if she were better capable of handling difficult situations." He needed to find Shinobi sooner rather than later. "I'm sorry, little Stark." Sebastian reached over and covered her hand with his own.

<Hope> Relenting, she turned her hand to squeeze it. "Thank you." She watched him for a moment. "He'll be here later to work. He's never far behind me. Had to go get something from the old room."

<Shaw> "We thought at first that he might try to run, to go it on his own. Miriam was crying, and of course I could sense he was still here, and I knew better than to believe he would simply leave in the night, unprepared." He sighed. "I thought it best to give him some time."

<Hope> "He was. I stopped him." She went back to her coding. "By telling him I was coming with him... or he wasn't leaving."

<Shaw> Sebastian thought about this for a moment. "So, I would have been forced to come after both of you. Good to know."

<Hope> She laughed a little. "The point was... I wasn't going to let him go alone. He needed to know that someone cared about him for him. And I do."

<Shaw> "As do I." As does Jess, but he wasn't going to argue that point at the moment.

<Hope> "Good. I'd hope so. He calls you.... Father after all." She made a face at the word. "So weird."

<Shaw> "After everything we've been through, he's my son as much as Miriam is my daughter." He smirked at her. "And as much as you are as well, little Stark."

<Hope> Ew. "Noooo no. Nope. I don't have your DNA. Totally not. Nope. Red headed stepchild. I even have the red hair!"

<Shaw> "True enough, but you know what you mean to me, love." He watched her a moment longer and then moved off his chair to embrace her. "Especially after what you did for me," he whispered.

<Hope> The last of her resolve faded. She hugged him tightly, taking a steadying breath. "You are my only family left, Bastian. Even when I'm mad at you or Jess... You're it."

<Shaw> "I know... and I know I can depend on you." He shifted to hold her closer and stroked that red-headed stepchild hair. "Always."

<Hope> She nodded, resting her head against him. "Always, always." She closed her eyes and let herself miss her dad and enjoy being with her uncle... Dad... Whatever he was. Family.

<Shaw> Sebastian turned his head and kissed her temple. "So. If I can tear you away from your work for just a bit, perhaps we can do something to help your former bodyguard."

<Hope> Hope considered that. "I think that would be a great idea actually. Now that you are here, we can figure it out."

<Shaw> "I hope we'll be able to figure out a great many things."

<Hope> Hope smiled up at him. "yeah. I might actually need you for some things."

<Shinobi> Carrying two cups of coffee into Hope's lab, he stopped just inside the doorway. Of course.

<Shaw> He heard the movement first, and straightened up, though he was still holding Hope. "Shinobi. It's good to see you, under better circumstances."

<Hope> Obi! With coffee! She grinned at him. "Hey! Look who stopped by." She sat up a bit, watching him.

<Shinobi> "So I see..." He gave his father a wary look, which became even more so when Sebastian let go of Hope and stalked toward him.

<Hope> Carefully, Hope got to her feet, following Sebastian a ways back. Just in case.

<Shinobi> He backed up a step, looking at Hope, then back at his father.

<Shaw> Sebastian took one cup from his son and handed it to Hope, then took the other and placed it on a workstation. Then, he hugged him. "I meant it. It's good to see you."

<Hope> It made her heart melt a bit. Hope smiled at their hug and took a sip of her fresh coffee. She hopped up on one of the lab tables and gave her boyfriend a reassuring smile. "He was asking for you."

<Shinobi> "Was he?" His voice came out a bit more quavering than he liked, and though it took a moment, he soon returned the hug. Countless times, he'd asked him to come back, to wake up... and he had. Sebastian was alive and himself. He allowed himself to close his eyes.

<Hope> She hopped back down and quietly tiptoed back to her office. They clearly needed a moment alone without her watching.

<Shaw> The moment was over with a few murmured words and a slap to Shinobi's back. "We drove off your Stark."

<Shinobi> He swiped his eyes and went after her, giving her a greeting kiss. "Thanks..."

<Hope> Hope wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him properly, careful not to spill her coffee on him. "I didn't do anything."

<Shinobi> "Yeah, you did." He kissed her again, then rested his forehead against hers.

<Shaw> Retrieving his own coffee, Sebastian only glanced into the office and saw enough.

<Hope> She had to set her coffee aside so that she had a hand to hold onto him and a hand to stroke his cheek. Huge grin on her face, Hope closed her eyes. "Well if it gets me kissed like that I hope I do it often."

<Shaw> Sometimes, enhanced hearing was a curse. He tuned out and sipped his coffee.

<Shinobi> "You do," he said quietly, a hand on her hip to hold her close and the other in her hair. "It's... I guess I just truly realized he's back."

<Hope> Her face softened, nuzzling him gently. "He's back." She opened her eyes to look at him again. She wanted to tell him his worries for for nothing, but she didn't. Instead, she kissed him tenderly again. "And I get you."

<Shinobi> He smiled, suspiciously brightly, and bowed his head to bury his face in the crook of her neck and hair.

<Shaw> Sebastian leaned against a work station, staring into his cup with a slight smile.

<Hope> She laughed happily, squirming into him a bit. "Obi, we do have to work sometime today." She, however, made no move to separate from him.

<Shaw> That was the second time she'd called him that. Interesting. "No, that's quite all right," he called, pushing off the table to stroll toward the door. "I understand."

<Hope> She hide her laughter behind her hand, watching him when he raised his head. He was so damn hot.

<Shinobi> He smirked, his hand sliding further south from her hip. "Well, we shouldn't pass up our opportunity then," he said, his eyes never leaving hers.

<Shaw> Rolling his eyes, Sebastian had hit his limit. "Right. I'll catch up with you later." Perhaps he'd go find Jess. He knocked on the frame of her office door on his way by it and closed the lab door behind him.

<Shinobi> The knock made him look, but his father soon retreated and he looked back at Hope with a sly grin.

<Hope> "Now where were we..." She pulled him down for another kiss, this one not so sweet. He had earned this after all.
