12/12 Instance: Window Shopping

Current timeline

<Shaw> "You know, I do believe I would have changed my name before becoming the name in overpriced imports, wouldn't you?" Sebastian's voice carried in the large, indoor showroom belonging to the maligned Herb Chambers, and he could care less. He gave Hope a sharp grin, raising an eyebrow at the tasteful nameplate by the front door.

<Hope> She cringed just a little at the showroom, but couldn't help but smirk. "Oh come on. It isn't that bad." Okay maybe it was. She glanced back at Bobby to see if he agreed, rolling her eyes that he was already on his phone. Some bodyguard, she joked to herself.

<Bobby> He was ignoring both of them, for as long as humanly possible, and he could do it, too. This dealership had complementary drinks, after all. Boozy ones. No wonder they wanted to shop here.

<Shaw> "Herb," he said, rolling the name around on his tongue. Following her line of sight, he smirked. "Helpful, isn't he?"

<Hope> She laughed a little, turning her attention away from Bobby. "As long as he's in range, that's the most use I need from him. Unless... well. Yeah." She shrugged. "Herb... he's a spice. Maybe he's spicy."

<Shaw> "Great Hades, I hope not." He strolled toward a bright orange Lamborghini and ran his fingertips over the fender, catching sight of the nearest employee and daring him to say a word.

<Hope> "I don't want another Lamborghini," Hope stated, keeping her distance from the car. It was irrelevant that it was vastly different from the one she had owned.

<Shaw> "Mmm, I always thought they were overrated, personally." Casting a look at Drake, he decided to check to see if the man was listening. "Of course, I wouldn't be car shopping at all if the help could be trusted."

<Hope> "Disappointing," Hope piped up, glancing to see if Drake noticed. Doubtful. "He's probably making goo goo eyes at his fiancee."

<Bobby> Without looking up from his phone, he gave them the universal salute. [i'm going to need that free booze if i have to spend much longer here with these rich asshats]

<Shaw> Sebastian just chuckled and moved past another Lamborghini, although this one was black and so held his attention for just a moment.

<Paige> [Oh booze! Can you bring some home? In a delicious variety?]

<Hope> Hope kept her distance from that car too. "Maybe a nice Italian car."

<Bobby> "Might be nice if Herb had some herb," he added, following along behind them. [as many of those little bottles as i can fit into my pockets. #cargopantsftw!]

<Shaw> "Si, mio caro." He smirked, then weaved his way back to her to offer his arm. "Let's go see what Herb has."

<Hope> "Or a nice Corvette..." Hope muttered, following Sebastian.

<Paige> [Yay for cargopants! #partyinyourpants]

<Shaw> He'd heard Drake's aside, which amused him to no end. "A Corvette would likely be more palatable for the press."

<Bobby> [its always a party in MY pants babe! #gobigorgohome]

<Hope> "Am I ever going to get used to that? My every move and decision being scrutinized by millions of people?" Hope twirled a bit of her red hair on her finger. "I mean... not like Kate seems to get used to it either."

<Paige> [#partyoftwo #whenareyougoingtobehome #dowehavegummyworms #andwhippedcream]

<Shaw> "No, likely not," he said with a chuckle. "That's why I prefer to lurk in the shadows. I loom ominously, as Jessica likes to point out."

<Bobby> He blinked at the text. Once. Twice. It didn't change. [on top of the xbox... dont ask]

<Hope> Hope grinned at him, laughing. "Yeah... I get that."

<Paige> [Found it!] She inserted a picture of her ice cream sundae to Bobby.

<Bobby> And a thousand dreams were smashed. With a sigh, he looked around for his charge and spotted her. "Yo, Starkette, gonna hit the can." Bobby saluted and headed off. "Don't lose her, Sharky!"

<Paige> [Don't worry. I didn't use it all! I saved lots!]

<Hope> Hope waved him off. "You do kind of have a shark grin..." Hope contemplated that. Huh.

<Shaw> Now only encouraged, Sebastian bared his teeth for her.

<Hope> "I feel like I should change your ringtone to Jaws theme now!" She laughed at him.

<Shaw> "Entirely appropriate." He cast a longing look at three Aston Martins lined up just ahead. "I'm afraid she'll just never be the same."

<Hope> "Probably," she agreed, glancing at them. "It's a shame. You didn't even kick his ass or anything."

<Shaw> "I know," he said with a disappointed sigh. "I told Jessie I wouldn't."

<Hope> Hope wrinkled her nose at him. Jess had a very strange relationship with Bobby. "Well that's... special?"

<Shaw> "What?" Sebastian raised an eyebrow at her and deviated from their path to the American cars to look at a 2018 Bentley.

<Hope> "What? I think it'd be a good... show." And there, just a little past the Bentley, the Corvettes. "Now we're talking!"

<Shaw> "Most assuredly. Although I would need to negate the man's abilities before I did so, just to level the playing field." He flashed her a grin to let her know he was joking. Mostly.

<Hope> She laughed again, smirking. "If you wanted to stand a chance."

<Shaw> "I'm far too attached to myself to risk it otherwise." Sebastian circled the first car, another black beauty, and opened the door to look inside. "And Jess is far too pregnant to risk it. Her blood pressure."

<Hope> "Yeah.." She left it at that. "So not another Aston... The Bentley is suitable for a stuffy old man. Oh hey you should get it!"

<Shaw> "Point of fact, I'm keeping the Aston. Once I get it back from the dealer I plan to make a few modifications of my own." Popping the hood of the Corvette, he went back to look at the engine, then glared down a salesman who started to intercede. "But I'm also looking for an SUV."

<Hope> "You need a mommymobile after all," she let him know, edging close to look at the engine herself.

<Slarti> "Well, I personally don't, but we need something more child friendly than the Aston or Jess' motorcycle." He moved aside a hose to get a better look, ignoring the salesman.

<Hope> "Riiiight because you will never be hauling your offspring around." She rolled her eyes.

<Shaw> "Of course, but I'm not the mommy," he said in an amused tone, then cocked his head and turned contemplative. "Perhaps I need a tank."

<Hope> "It won't stop a Bobby," Hope reminded him, laughing.

<Shaw> His expression darkened. "If he did, it would be his last act on this earth, even if ensuring that was mine."

<Hope> Well that was creepy. "Easy there, no need to start a feud."

<Shaw> "Of course," he recovered, looking around for the bodyguard briefly before he turned his attention back to the Corvette. "So, do you want to take one for a test drive?"

<Hope> Her face lit up instantly. "I think the better question is where are the keys."

<Shaw> "You heard the first daughter." Sebastian turned to the salesman with a haughty smirk. Once he set the man scurrying, he grinned at her.

<Hope> Hope smirked a bit back at him. "You are a terrible influence. I used to be nice to people."

<Shaw> He made a disappointed sound. "Whatever for?"

<Hope> "Because I was one of them? Or really lower than that." She shrugged. "I used to be nice."

<Shaw> "Well, I was one of them as well." He cocked his head to watch her, moving in close to flick her red hair. "If he manages to sell you this car, he will receive a handsome commission, and if he does it well, he'll also be rewarded for that." It was his turn to shrug.

<Hope> "Well... and he is a bit of a weirdo. Though I guess I can't blame him for staring." She tossed her hair over her shoulder.

<Shaw> "That's the spirit. He's also been taking selfies with you in the background, so..." Sebastian laughed.

<Hope> "Who wouldn't?!" She laughed, smiling again. "I could be a bitch and make sure Bobby destroys the evidence."

<Shaw> "I thought you were just chiding me to be nice," he laughed.

<Hope> "I thought we've established that I'm not nice," she laughed at him.

<Shaw> The salesman returned to escort them to the back of the showroom, where one of the Corvettes waited.

<Hope> "Do we need to get Drake?" she questioned.

<Shaw> "Pfft." He opened the driver's side door for her.

<Hope> "I too like to live dangerously," she laughed, sliding in and sighing a bit, taking in the luxury that was the z06.

<Shaw> He got into the passenger seat and took a deep breath. "Ahhh... smell that..." Then he started stroking the dash. "You are a beauty, aren't you?"

<Hope> "Why yes I am," she teased, starting up the car. "Ohhhh that sounds amazing."

<Shaw> "Yes, yes, I am surrounded by beauty, now hush so we can listen to the engine purr." He slid down into the leather seat and closed his eyes with a blissful smile.

<Hope> Hope smirked and shifted the car into gear. "Hang on." She put her seat belt on, almost as an afterthought, and took off.

<Shaw> Sebastian didn't bother with such things and just enjoyed the ride.

<Hope> The poor salesman just held on for dear life while Hope drove them around a little bit, finally pulling back onto the lot. She was already sold. "Well. That was fun."

<Shaw> "That was sublime," he agreed, giving the dash one last pat before he jumped out and circled the car to open Hope's door. "Now you only need to choose a color?"

<Hope> "Yellow." The response was automatic as she slid out of the car.

<Shaw> His brows rose. "Yellow?" Somehow he managed not to snort, but still did smile at the salesman as he managed to drag himself out of the tiny jump seat.

<Hope> "Always yellow," she laughed a little. Johnny's had been red, so that was out. Any other color was unsuitable in her mind.

<Shaw> "You are your father's daughter." He laughed and started back toward the showroom, until something parked outside caught his attention. Apparently, it was too large to be parked inside... "Well, hello."

<Hope> "There's no denying that." She shrugged, laughing. She followed his gaze, blinking at what he saw. "Really?"

<Shaw> "What? I said I would consider a tank." Sebastian put his hands in his pockets and made for the giant vehicle.

<Hope> "Yes but... a literal tank? I thought you were joking!" She hurried to keep up.

<Shaw> "Well, I was... to an extent, but look at it!" What was it even made of? Once Sebastian reached the vehicle, he stopped short, and looked up. "Christ, it is a tank."

<Hope> Hope decided she couldn't be scared of a car. It wasn't like it was going to shoot her. Right? She warily approached the pair, checking it out. "Impressive."

<Shaw> "Most impressive. And unlocked." He flashed her a grin and opened the door. "It's body is made from ballistic steel," he read from the folder he found in the driver's seat. "...it has night and thermal vision sensors."

<Hope> "Do you neeed night and thermal vision? I guess as much as I need a top of the line corvette," she laughed, moving around to hop in on the other side.

<Shaw> "Well, two years ago my answer would have been no, but perhaps I do." He climbed inside with the folder, still reading features aloud. "Intercom, light activated window tinting, oxygen survival kit, under-vehicle magnetic attachment detection system..."

<Hope> "Can it cook me breakfast too? Because that would be awesome." Hope pushed some buttons.

<Shaw> "No, but I'm certain if I installed an auxiliary program to Widget we could make that a reality." He climbed into the back seat, realizing that the vehicle had enough head room to allow him to do so. "I think there's ample room for a baby seat."

<Shaw> "Or four."

<Hope> "You plan on breeding three more times?" Hope asked, mostly surprised.

<Shaw> He looked back and grinned at her.

<Hope> Her look of disgust and terror said it all. "Ew."

<Shaw> This just made him laugh, though it sounded more like a cackle. Mesmerized, he started looking inside consoles and fiddling with buttons.

<Hope> "So are you going to drive it, or just figure out how to launch it into orbit?" She questioned, trying to divert the conversation from his sperm forming humans.

<Shaw> "They're mutually exclusive situations?" He certainly didn't think so. This thing was fantastic and he wanted to disassemble it and then entirely rebuild it.

<Hope> "Probably not... but I'm not dressed for a trip to the moon. Ooo cool light." She poked it a few times.

<Shaw> "I want it." He opened the sunroof and stood up to look outside. "It practically begs for a gun turret."

<Hope> "Oooo I'll be the gunner! I'm a good shot."

<Shaw> "That you are - at sentinels no less." He called to the salesman, who had already taken the hint and fetched the keys to the Knight. Sebastian no longer cared to hide his excitement and gestured for the man to throw him the keys, which he neatly caught.

<Shaw> Bending back into the cabin, he rattled them at Hope. "Are you ready?"

<Hope> "You know it!" She shot Bobby a text. [If we crash, I think we'll do more damage to whatever we hit than this car. It's a freaking tank man. A tank!]
