To be timelined after Big Man on Campus

Rachel had snuck off to the kitchen to call
dibs on the ice cream before anyone else got to it.
Maybe it would help to take her mind off Farouk.

Rogue walked cautiously up to the large
mansion looming over her and tried to figure out a
back way in so she wouldn't have to deal with many
people yet. She walked around the mansion until she
found a backdoor. This looks like a good place ta
start.

Eve sat at the kitchen counter with Paige. A
small plate of Oreos between them and a glass of milk
for each.

She grabbed at spoon and the carton of
chocolate ice cream from the freezer, taking a seat at
the table. She was fine. Farouk wasn't here.

Paige handed a cookie to Eve.

Getting bored of unpacking his stuff,
Charlie decided to head down to the kitchen for a
snack. Maybe I'll spot this Vic guy there.

"Thanks babe." He twisted it in half, and gave
her the cream side, and dunked his half into the milk.

Ah sure am hungry though...Ah wonder
where tha kitchen is?
Rogue walked down the
hallway until she found a door and opened it a crack.
Nope.

Paige enjoyed her creamy side as she sat
there.

Hmm. Ah think Ah'm lost. Oh well, only
way ta learn ya way around right? Right.
Rogue
walked up to another door and opened it. Her eyes
sparkled when she saw it was the kitchen. FINALLY!
Ah'm starvin'!

Rachel took a bite of the ice cream before
she noticed Paige and Eve. "Hey," she said quietly to
them.

He tried to think back to the tour of the
school he took when he first checked out the school.
Damnit... these doors all look the same.
Eventually he resorted to randomly opening unmarked
doors, before seeing someone slip through another door
with lights inside the room. Let's hope that was
someone else with the munchies.

"Sup Rae?" Eve said. He turned towards the
door when it opened.

"Hey Rachel." Paige looked where Eve was
looking.

Rogue stopped short when she saw people
inside. "Um.. Hi. Ah'm Rogue. Ah'm new.."

"And Ah'm kinda hungry."

"Hi Rogue. Have a cookie if you want one."
Paige offered her an oreo that still have both sides
and the filling.

"Hey. I'm Rachel. Just grab whatever you
find," she shrugged.

He popped the door open a bit and stuck his
head through, seeing that it was in fact the kitchen,
with a surprising amount of people in it. "Look like I
made it in time for the party." he said, opening the
door fully and stepping through.

"New kids popping outa the woodwork... wonder if
this is how Lizzie and them felt last year..." Eve
said quietly to Paige with a smile.

Okay. There were two new people. "Hey," she
greeted the other one.

Paige smiled a tiny bit at him. "I'm Paige,"
she told the new students.

Rogue walked over to the table and took
the offered cookie. "Thanks" she said and smiled at
the woman offering it. "Hi, Rachel. Thanks" Rogue
jumped at the sound of the new person and hovered for
a moment before realizing that there was no threat she
was just worried.

"And I'm Eve, grab a seat, we wont bite." He
commented as he saw her jump.

"Much." Rachel added to Eve's comment.

He waved. "Hey. I'm Charlie and I'm addicted
to meth, too. Wait. I'm not in the wrong place, am I?"

Rogue laughed nervously as her face
flushed a bright red. "Sorry, Ah'm jus' a lil jumpy
today. New place an' all." Rogue pulled out a chair
and twisted open the cookie in her hands. She looked
up at Charlie's comment and laughed.

"Your looking for 3 doors down, on the right."
Eve said over his shoulder. bad bad joke...
almost Bobby bad...

Paige shot Eve a slight look at that.

Well, my shielding is crap, so this should be
lovely. Just plaster on a smile and you might make
it through this.
She shook her head. That was a
bad joke.

Eve felt her eyes on him, "It's a joke... sorry,
hey, want a cookie?" He turned in his chair and
offered one to Charlie.

"Thanks. Ah well. While I'm here, I might as
well get something to eat, first." He headed over to
the fridge, looking for something to grab.

"Y'all got anythin' ta drink? Ah sure am
thirsty. Charlie, will ya grab me a piece of cheese or
somethin, sugah?" Rogue looked at him hopefully.

Drink? She took a bite of ice cream. "We have
water, milk, coffee, tea, whatever really." She
pointed at a cabinet, "Cups are in there."

"Sure. Which kind? Cheddar, mozzarella or...
I hope that was supposed to be bleu cheese..." He
grabbed the carton of milk out of the fridge. "And
I'll take you up on that offer of cookies... I'm
sorry, what was your name?" He asked Eve.

"Eve." He got up to grab another plate and
grabbed glasses for the new comers.

"Um, Chedda please." Rogue turned her
attention to Rachel, "Thanks, sugah." She got up to
grab a cup. "Is the tea already made, an' is it
sweet?"

"The jug in the back of the fridge is sweet tea,
me and Paige have to make it. Most of the school
drink british tea." He set the plates and cups out on
the counter for them.

Rogue made a face. "Ah can't stand unsweet
tea. Bein' as Ah'm from tha South an' all.." Rogue
forced a small laugh and went to grab the tea from the
fridge and poured herself a glass, then sat back down.

Paige smiled at the new girl a bit.

He grabbed the cheddar out of the fridge,
tossing it up and catching it before passing it to
Rogue. "And, there's your cheese, madame." He gave a
little exaggerated flourish and a bow before grabbing
himself a seat.

Rogue took a long drink from her glass,
bringing it to half full and a wash of relaxation
flowed over her. Rogue took the cheese with a small
laugh, "Thanks, darlin. That's awful sweet of ya."
these people are really nice. Ah just hope
everybody else is this nice to me. Ah hope nobody's
scared of me once they figure out what mah powers
are.
Rogue was suddenly tense again, so she downed
the rest of the glass and went to pour another.

She sat back and ate some of the ice cream.
She had a migraine, was paranoid, and just mind raped.
So not in the mood to deal with people.

"Cool, me and Paige are from Texas." Eve went
to the cupboard and got out another package of
cookies. Meggan's cookies, not his, and handed them
to Charlie. "Here ya go man, just put them back up
there when your done."

"So how long have y'all been here?" Rogue
looked at everyone curiously.

"Going into our second year..."

Eve waved towards Paige and Rachel, "The three
of us are softmores, Charlie here is a fellow
freshman."

"Sure. Thanks, man." He opened the package,
tyring not to rip it too badly, before popping a
cookie into his mouth.

Rogue nodded in acceptance. "That's cool.
Ah'm from Georgia, but Ah've been livin in Louisiana
recently. Where are y'all from? Eve an' Paige are from
Texas, but what about Rachel an' Charlie?" Rogue
munches on her cheese, then steals a cookie from
Charlie, putting her finger up to her mouth in a "shh"
type movement.

"I'm from New York...so here.." she shrugged.

"Born in jolly ol' England, but I've been
raised here, for the most part."

"Wow, people from all over. How many
students go here?" Geez, Rogue, can ya not shut up
for one minute when ya nervous? Of course Ah
can't.

"Yeah, we've got people from all over the globe,
but there are only 30 or so students." Eve said
trying to remember the exact count and failing.
can't wait to get that fixed...

(("Even some jerk from brazil."))

"So what brings you to XU?" Eve said, dunked an
oreo and started eating it.

Paige munched on her cookie a bit as she
awaited the answer.

"Umm... well... Ah don't know where else
ta go, sugah." Because no one else will take me,
they're all afraid.
She added silently.

"I think right around the time I puked up a
little silver woman... People tended to look at me
weird."

"Heh, I mean, what's your power?" Eve said with
a smile, remembering his own talks when he got here.

Rachel silently listened to the conversation,
kinda.

"Oh." Rogue blushed as she realized her
misunderstanding. "Well..." She took a deep breath
before continuing. "Ah absorb other people's powers,
memories, abilities, you name it, by touch. It's
nearly killed someone before. Ah absorbed Carol
Danvers' ability to fly and super strength, so Ah
guess ya could add that too." Rogue tensed up as she
waited for their reaction.

Paige forced a shudder back. Memories... she
wouldn't want this girl getting those memories. Nobody
deserved to have them...

"Well, of I've got a few things. Rather
weird. I've got multiple brains. And I can kinda
control my blood. And I've got a couple nervous
systems. One being that little silver woman I puked
up. She's actually great. Transforms into stuff. And
let's me see colours..."

"Wow. So you.. just take them?"

He turned to Rogue. "Wait, you can absorb
other people's powers? So, if you touched me, you'd
grow another brain? Well.. can't imagine that being
too comfortable..."

"Well, those sure beat our powers..." She
glanced at Paige and Eve. Hmmm...Paige was oddly
quiet...

Rogue laughed and the nervous knot in her
stomach let up a notch as they just kept being nice
and didn't freak out and leave. "Yeah, Ah can't
control it yet, but Ah'm workin on it..." She turned
to Charlie, "Ah'm not sure, but Ah don't wanna try
sugah."

"So what are y'alls powers then?" She
turned to Rachel curiously.

"If I still had mine... But they were similar...
I could copy powers... but the people I copied never
lost theirs." Eve said absently, thinking again about
how to get them back.

"Telepathy and telekinesis."

Paige took Eve's hand.

"Telepathy? Ah crap. Remind me not to
mentally undress anyone when you're around."

"Best not to around anyone... half the school
has telepathy of varring degree's of power." Eve said
helpfully.

Rogue laughed silently and shook her head
as she turned her attention to Eve. "So, kinda like a
mockingbird, Ah guess?" She noticed Paige holding
Eve's hand and smiled "Are you two together?"

She gave him a cold look, "I don't just go
through peoples' heads." Unlike Farouk.

"Yeah and yeah, engaged." He held up their hands
to show the rings.

Paige gave a genuine smile at that.

"What? Where's the fun if most of the chicks
can read your mind..." He noticed the cold look from
Rachel. "Uhhh... never said ya did. Just making light
of things, ya know?" "An congrats to the two of you.
How long has it been?"

Rogue's smile widened. "Wow! That's so
excitin'! When's the big day?" She noticed Rachel was
actin funny, even though she just met her, so she shot
her a thought

"This December!"

She jumped a little at the thought.
That was the easiest way to put it.

Rogue smiled at Paige, "That's great,
darlin! Y'all got plans made yet? Is there anything Ah
could do ta help?"

"We have some things planned, but still some
things to decide before then. Thanks for offering to
help." Paige smiled a bit at her.

"Were actually taking a snack break from the
planning right now." Eve said, nodding to the Oreos.

"Oh, Ah see." Rogue smiled as she wished
she could have a love like that. "So, what's tha
school like? What are the rest of tha people like?"

Charlie unsunk himself out of his seat as he
heard the conversation pass on from the wedding.
Chick talk. Not worth it unless I'm getting
'benefits' for it...

She sighed inwardly. Everyone said she could
talk to them. Didn't help. She glanced at the scars
covering her arms. "It's insane. That description
covers the people too," she smirked.

"They're mostly pretty cool people, a few less
fun than others. As for the school, well, you
probably wont get bored here."

"I don't suppose we have space for things
that go boom, do we?"

"Go boom? What exactly do ya mean, sugah?"

"We have a few people that can do that. Most
power practice is done in the DR." He said pointing
off towards the other side of the school.

Rogues head was filling with questions.
She didnt know what to do with all of it. She put her
fingers on the bridge of her nose and concentrated to
make them unscramble.

"Well, not exactly powers. More like
chemically assisted. Just a nice way to vent a little
steam and have fun, y'know?"

"Oh, then you'll wanna meet Warren, "the
Fallen.", he likes to play with plastiques a bit."

"The Fallen? I don't suppose we all get
snazzy nicknames, do we? And, thanks. I'll look him
up."

"Can Ah watch? ...or...help??" Rogue was
suddenly interested. She's always liked explosions,
but she was told when she was little they weren't
'lady-like'. She decided that here, no one would care.

"He's not all that social though," Rachel
pointed out.

"As far as I know, he showed up with that one
himself..." Eve added.

"Sure. As long as you can handle a match or
lighter and have a good pair of running legs, you
should be able to help."

"Sugah, were you not payin' attention
earlier when Ah was talkin? Ah can fly. Ah dont have
to run if it's that dangerous. An' yeah, Ah can handle
a lighter...OR a match." Rogue shot him a semi-dirty
look.

"Uhhh... of course I was listening to what
you were saying. Heh heh. I wasn't pre-occupied with
other things... I'll shut up before the grave gets
deeper. But, yeah. The flying should help. Actually, I
can think of fun ways to use that..."

Rogue glared at Charlie, then got up to
refill her glass of tea. "Anybody else want somethin'
while Ah'm up?"

"I'm good, Paige?" He asked, putting an arm
around her.

He put his hands up "Heh. Sorry. Old habits
die hard and all that jazz, y'know?"

Paige snuggled into Eve a bit. "I'm fine,
thank you."

Shit. She'd completely spaced that the girl
could fly. Maybe she could help...but you hardly know
her. Wouldn't have to wait for Lorna. But, she doesn't
know you...

"So Charlie doesn't want
anything...Ever... Rachel?" Rogue walked over to her
chair and looked down at her quizically.

"Speaking of flying, did you get that down over
summer Rae?"

She stopped arguing with herself long enough
to answer Rogue before turing to Eve, "No thanks, I'm
fine. I'm still working on it, actually." Although,
with what happened to Farouk's leg, looks like I have
more important stuff to work on.

Rogue continued with what she was doing,
then came back to the table. "You can fly too?"

"She can, she just doens't know how to do it
quite right yet."

"Really? Do ya want some help? It took me
a lil bit to get used to it too, seein as how Ah stole
it an all..." Rogue looked at Rachel hoping maybe she
could help her feel better in some way.

"Uh, yeah. That'd be cool," Well took care of
one issue.

"Well, that kinda hurt..." He leaned back
in his chair, going back to his cookies and milk.

If i had mine I could show her... Eve
looked down at his plate and glass, empty. Paige's
too. "Well, nice to meet yall, but I think we're
going to head back up, see ya around." Eve stood up
and started to put all the stuff away.

Rogue knocked him with her elbow on the
way by making his milk spill on him. "Oh, Ah'm so
sorry, sugah. Here, let me help ya clean up."

Paige helped him gather their things.

Rogue looked up at them. "It sure was nice
ta meet y'all. Ah hope ta be seein' ya soon!"

"See ya."

Paige smiled a tiny bit. "Good to meet you
too."

"Oi!" He jumped up and backwards when the
glass fell onto him, almost falling over his chair.
"Bloody 'ell. Uhhh... yeah, nice to meet you guys." He
said, trying to brush milk off his pants before it
soaked in.

"So, Rachel, when do you wanna start?"
Rogue turned to her, completely 'forgetting' about
Charlie's mess.

Eve laughed a bit as the wet spot on Charlie's
lap got bigger. "Later yall." With that Eve held the
door open for Paige and wrapped his arm around her as
they left.

She smiled a little at Charlie almost falling
over, "I have some stuff to do, but pretty much
whenever is fine," she shrugged.

"Son of a bitch", he muttered under his
breath as he went over to the sink, grabbing a wad of
paper towels and partially wetting them before trying
anther futile attempt at cleaning up his shirt and
pants.

"Ok. Sounds great!" Rogue turned in a snap
toward Charlie, her real anger flaring to life, "What
was that?" She snapped at him, trying to keep under
control.

"Uhhhh..." Shit, man. You really pissed
off the wrong chick.
"Just trying to remember
where I can get my laundry done... I think out loud."

Eve and Paige passed the rec room. He glanced
in and saw the TV still on.

"Somebody left it on..."

"Heh, DDR. Probably Bobby." He said and they
left it to make their way back to the room.

I doubt that, but I think he's
realizing how short my temper gets...
"Right. How
about the laundry room?" Turning to Rachel, "where is
that anyway?"
