9/29 Instance: Truce?

Post by Slarti »

Timelined around Nov. 20

Paige: Paige sat on her and Eve's bed, trying to study for her class... although she couldn't remember what class it was she was studying for.

Bobby: Bobby whistled under his breath as he strolled down the hall, halting in front of the door to Eve and Paige's room. His truck was having an issue, so Eve was going to have to drive to work tomorrow... he hated to change their schedule.... buuut. He knocked on the door.

Paige: "Come in." Paige closed her book, keeping her finger in the page just in case.

Bobby: He sighed slightly at the voice that answered. Paige. Dammit. He still wasn't her favorite person, in fact, she hadn't said two unforced words to him since he'd come back.

Bobby: "Hey, Paige, sorry, just looking for Eve." He opened the door to speak, but stayed in the doorway, hoping Eve was just in the can.

Paige: "Not here." Paige opened her book again.

Bobby: "Oh." There were two more words. "Well, do you know where he is?"

Paige: "Yes."

Bobby: "Okay. You gonna tell me?"

Paige: "Nope."

Bobby: "Awesome."

Paige: "You're so flattering." Paige turned the page in her book.

Bobby: Bobby crossed his arms and leaned against the doorframe. "You know, you're up to using four word sentences with me now, if I count the contraction as two."

Paige: "You know, you're up to being only partially an ass if I count that as a compliment."

Bobby: "Paige -" He cut off and considered his words. "You're right. I'm sorry...you know, we need to just talk. We're going to be seeing each other for a long time. This is crazy."

Paige: "After what you did? Lorna may forgive you but I can't."

Bobby: "Right..." Bobby nodded, deciding this was pointless. He pushed himself off the doorframe.

Paige: "Glad you see it my way."

Bobby: On his way out, he paused and cocked his head. Okay. No. "Well, no, I really don't. Yes, I screwed up. Majorly. And I know it's trite to say 'everybody makes mistakes' but dammit-" He cut off, drumming his fingers against his folded arms.

Paige: "So you cheat on your girlfriend and then kiss another girl in front of her. Lorna is one special girl, Bobby. I dont' think you get that."

Bobby: "I think I do! She's the most amazing woman I've ever met. You think I don't know I don't deserve her? You think I don't feel like an ass for what I did? The only thing I can do is try to make up for it." The reference to Jackie made him wince though. Figures Lorna had told her about that.

Paige: Paige glared at Bobby. "I would have thought you would have tried to make it up to her sooner instead of digging a deeper hole."

Bobby: He narrowed his eyes at her, a sarcastic retort on the tip of his tongue, but instead he sighed. "I didn't know how."

Paige: "Well how about not making out in front of her. That would be a good start."

Bobby: "Nooo. You think?" So much for no sarcasm. "Again, pretty well aware that was a mistake! Probably one of the worst ones I've ever made... I just... You pegged it, Paige. I was dumb. Think I forgot who I was for a while..."

Bobby: "Look, this is pointless. What are we going to have to do to be civil to each other?" He leaned against the doorframe again.

Paige: "I don't know."

Bobby: "Well, why don't we figure it out?" He gave her his best grin. Christ.

Paige: Paige glanced up at that Miss America crown. She wasn't acting like Miss America... "Fine."

Bobby: Bobby watched her eyes travel to the crown. "I never really got to tell you congrats on that. I did watch you on TV, I was happy for you."

Paige: Paige blinked at that. "You... you did?"

Bobby: "Of course." He smiled a little. "Why wouldn't I?"

Paige: "Figured you wouldn't is all." Paige closed her book, willing to be more friendly.

Bobby: Bobby shrugged one shoulder. "I knew it was important to you. And, hell, it is impressive. Miss America. That's way cool. Plus, y'know, Eve was all excited. Couldn't shut him up when he called." He cracked a real grin at that.

Paige: Paige perked up at that. "Thanks Bobby... really, thanks."

Bobby: "You're welcome." He knew better than to think things were peachy now, but he kept his grin. "So, what's it like to be Miss Paigey America?"

Paige: Paige smiled at that. "It's been ok. I have to be in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade next week."

Bobby: "Cool. You get to be anywhere near Snoopy? 'Cause that's the coolest thing about that parade."

Paige: Paige laughed. "I'm not sure where I am in the lineup yet."

Bobby: "Well, let me know when you find out, will you? We'll have to watch you on TV again. Oh, hey... that means you have to miss actual Thanksgiving, doesn't it? That kind of sucks. What are you and Eve gonna do?"

Paige: "Well there is a big party for the people in the parade, so I think we're going to go to that. It's not the same as family, but we have the rest of our lives to do that."

Bobby: "That's cool. It's something different, anyways. A once-in-a-lifetime thing." He took a moment to actually look at her, and how skinny she was.

Paige: Paige wasn't even in a hoodie this time, but rather s speghetti strap as she had been studying. "Yeah, after this we can split the holidays between our families or combine them."

Bobby: "We're going to try combined for this year," he said, wondering if she'd immediately want to smack him again.

Paige: "Lorna's family going to join yours?"

Bobby: "Yeah." He cleared his throat. "Her grandma needs to hit some new casinos, and we have plenty of those in St. Louis."

Paige: "Oh... well... good luck with that then."

Bobby: "Thanks. Look... I know you don't trust me anymore, so nothing I say is going to matter," he looked at her. "But I love her. I plan to spend as long as she'll put up with me proving it to her."

Paige: "Lorna is my best friend and no, I don't trust you. It makes it kind of awkward."

Bobby: "I know. Maybe, someday, I'll earn your trust back too."

Paige: "I hope so. By the way..."

Bobby: "Yeah?"

Paige: "If there is a stripper at the bachelor party, you're dead."

Bobby: He laughed, then stifled it. "Okay, I believe you."

Paige: Paige smiled at that. "Good."
