Lorna: Lorna walked the stage, giving it a few good jumps to judge how stable it was. So far it looked like nobody was going to die horrifically falling through the stage...or, rather maybe break a toe since it wasn't exactly a high platform.
Lorna: "Looks like things are coming along pretty nicely. Enjoying painting the backdrops?" She jumped off, coming over to look at Christopher's work.
Christopher: "It's not hard. Just time consuming! I wanted to make the chandelier but I don't think I'll have the time too."
Lorna: "Oh, don't worry, the chandelier is going to be a class-time piece. I've got the frame for it made. I'll definitely need some help getting it hung and tested for the drop though."
Lorna: "When you're ready for a break painting what to give me some help with that then?"
Christopher: "Oh sweet. Less work for me then." He added a little more paint to the backdrop. "Uhmm well you're the prof. So I'd say whenever you give me the time." Chris laughed.
Lorna: "Excellent!" Lorna rubbed her hands together excitedly. "You can let me know if I've gone a bit overboard with it...it's pretty awesome." She motioned for Chris to follow, all ready heading out the door for the the basement. "I've been storing it in pieces by the laundry room, too big for the closet."
Christopher: "Heh well I wanted to make it as close to what it's supposed to look like as possible. So I don't think I'll be a good judge."
Lorna: "It just might be a bit too big considering our venue." She explained, running down the steps.
Christopher: "Hah. Well maybe we'll take out a bit of the audience in the process. I call front row for my dad."
Lorna: "Oh, is he coming?" Lorna stopped as she dug out the key for the room. "From what you've said I figured he'd be morally opposed."
Christopher: "Hah! No one in my family will be coming unless my mom can sneak away. My dad's anti mutant and my brother follows whatever he says. Mom's the only one still supporting me."
Lorna: "In that case I hope to meet your mother. Dad will be flying in, he'll take an excuse to visit certainly." She smiled, opening the door to unveil her chandelier pieces. "I can float them upstairs, you make sure I don't hit anything on the way up?"
Christopher: "Uhmm okay." He followed Lorna.
Lorna: She kept talking as she floated the pieces up behind her. "It definitely should be an interesting show, the musical and seeing people's family both counting as 'show'."
Christopher: "Yeah. I didn't invite anyone so looks like I'll be lonely."
Lorna: "Didn't even try to invite your mother?" She furrowed her eyebrows at that, starting towards the ballroom, metal hoops following along behind. "Should at least give it a try, I can make the invitation look fairly innocuous if you like?"
Christopher: "Nah don't want her to get yelled at by dad."
Lorna: "What does your mother do?" She pushed the door open a bit ahead of her, letting the hoops go on ahead.
Christopher: "Her and dad invest I think that's about it. Mom used to teach me and my brother our lessons and she always helped me with stuff. Dad's got some business too but What they do exactly I don't know."
Lorna: "Drat, guess disguising it as job mail won't work then." She tsked at herself, setting her hoops down and going on into the room and picking up the wire. "Now, to put this bugger together."
Christopher: "I could call her. But then she'd have to find a reason to leave. And book a flight to New York."
Lorna: "It might be worth the invite. You never know, she might have the perfect excuse, threaten your father away with annoying relative visits he wouldn't want to go on. That one's practically true in a roundabout way."
Christopher: "I'll think about it." He frowned and grabbed a something before it fell. "Careful there prof."
Lorna: "Whoops, yeah, lets just stick with the structural bits and bobbles now, put the hoops together then it can be flown up and dropped." She went ahead and flew up, working on the ceiling support and shouting down. "This is going to be great!"
Christopher: "It so is! I can't wait to watch." He smiled and helped her get things to a safe spot.
Lorna: "Can you hook the layers together? I've not decided if I want to leave the latching to get them to come apart better for the crash or weld them together just yet."
Christopher: "I could latch them somehow but without something like wires controlling where they break apart It won't be very safe."
Lorna: "They're made to latch together right now, they lock in place." She explained. "I've not decided to kill you all yet, despite what some people might think after the chainsaw ice sculpture lesson."
Christopher: "Yeah that was a dangerous lesson." Chris laughed. "I could come up with a wire system and if everyone makes their marks we can make this really awesome! I'd prolly need Darren or someone to help with the tech stuff though."
Lorna: "Sounds like a plan." Lorna nodded, testing her own wires for the moment as she quit letting herself fly, holding onto the wires to see how much the budged. "Are the layers to the chandelier hooked up then?"
Christopher: "Gimme a sec and they will be." He did a little more work and then cracked his knuckles. "All done!"
Lorna: Lorna carefully started to lift the top layer, giving everything a good shake to make sure it held before flying it on up to her and the ceiling wires. "Right, you're going to have to tell me how well I'm over the stage from down there."
Christopher: "Come back a little. You're almost right there."
Lorna: She rehooked the wires and hovered the rig that much back. "And that?"
Christopher: "Uhmm to the right a little." He pointed for her.
Lorna: She had to take a minute that time, rearranging wires and at one point flying into the rig to move it with a bit more accuracy to hook it on. "How's that?"
Christopher: "There you go! Ha we got it." Chris gave her a big thumbs up.
Lorna: "And now time to ruin it by dropping it!" She cheered, flying out of the rig and landing by him. "Ready?"
Christopher: "Let her rip!" Chris laughed.
Lorna: Lorna just cackled, unraveling her wire working and sending the 'art' down to the stage floor with a mighty boom and destruction to it.
Christopher: Chris plugged his ears. "Damn that was loud."
Lorna: "Yeaaaah it was." She admitted, rubbing at her ear. "We might have to warn about that in the program."
Christopher: "Hmm I could make something to take away the sound. Maybe a type of pad or something."
Lorna: "True, we could cork the floor there, just as long as it doesn't deaden the voices. Something to try." She nodded, lifting the pieces of the chandelier off of the stage. "Well then, during class everyone can chip in to finish this thing, we know it'll work and doesn't seem lethal!"
Christopher: "Well there's a bullet proof gel that absorbs force kinda like me. I could make some of that if you got me the materials."
Lorna: "Not sure about that, unfortunately, we'll see. Just as long as it's functional for everything else and I can get a hold of some we'll be good to go."
Christopher: "Well I made some up for Penny to keep her from cutting through pens, but I don't think there's much of there materials left to make much more in the science lab."
Lorna: "How would it be for dancing on? We want to make sure nothing hinders our prima-ballerina Darren."
Christopher: "Uhmm. I wouldn't know. I've never tried to dance on it." Chris laughed a little.
Lorna: "Do you have enough to make a little pad to try to dance on?" She smirked, tapping her chin. We might as well test that too, hmm?"
Christopher: "I can try." He frowned and pulled out a notepad and started scribbling down some numbers.
Lorna: "Excellent." She patted his back. "Shall we then?"
Christopher: "You mean now?" He frowned. "Uhmm okay. Lets go then."
Lorna: "I must keep you busy while you're my little tech monkey. Tech monkey, away!" Lorna was heading out the door, ready to give this a go.
