Songs which reference the X-men

Post by Phoebe Mittens »

I was pondering this recently, although it might be too geeky for this forum. I don't so much mean gimicky/fan stuff, but songs or album tracks by ordinary bands which reference the Marvel universe. I can think of 2 so far:

KUNG FU by ASH contains the lines:
"I played pool with him and we hung out
Mr. Miagi and the X-men
Called in for a while as well"

IN THE GARAGE by WEEZER contains the lines:
"I've got Kitty Pryde
And Nightcrawler too
Waiting there for me
Yes I do, I do"

...any others anyone can think of?

There's a song called "Super Hoes" (I think) that is all about these rappers beating up super heroes. Nightcrawler is in there, even.

I'll have to hunt it down. It's pretty funny. I can't remember who it's by, but I know one of the rappers is Busta Rhymes...

Beating up? :LOL
Not even close. Its about them having sex, and it's quite X-rated, I doubt it gets airplay :p

"Superhoes" by FunkDoobiest

"Cyclops, Wolverine
And the Nightcrawler
Went to a bar
And, yo, they had dollars
Roll in the parlor
Hittin' off switches
For Richie Rich riches
Pulls all the b****es"

I had the link to the full lyrics here but I decided to remove it because it really is something I don't want young teens stumbling upon.

there's a song by MC Chris that mentions wolverine and "snikt"...i cant remeber the name or the exact lyrics though :
"If you live your life to please everyone else, you will continue to feel frustrated and powerless. This is because what others want may not be good for you. You are not being mean when you say NO to unreasonable demands or when you express your ideas, feelings, and opinions, even if they differ from those of others.â€

Ahhh, Nerdcore.

"GEEK" by MC CHRIS from the album 'KNOWING IS HALF THE HASSLE'

"If I was Wolverine, you’d hear my knuckles go, "SNIKT."
I’m not perfect--the before picture of Peter Parker,
I always trip and drop my tray in front of the girl that always sparkles.
I got brains--f**k B’s and C’s.
I got a grade point average higher than Hendrix on New Year’s Eve. "

Here's a link to the lyrics page, it's song 8. Warning, lotsa Adult language (cursing, little sex talk).

hooray! I knew there were more.

Little as I can imagine Cyce going to a stripper's bar, there was that Hellfire club issue recently...

Right, I'm off to find these songs. If I can get enough I might put together a compilation tape. :D

"H! Vltg3" bye LINKIN PARK (featuring Evidence, DJ Babu, Pharoahe Monch) from the album REANIMATION

"When I spy my third eye, it's extremely high voltage
That's why I need ruby quartz glasses, cause when I glance at the chest
Then I might blast the masses
~~~~
I walk through the walls and the inanimate obstacles
While educed to the reduction of cells and molecules"
I know a gr8 song which would suit the x-men. Its wot we're all about by SUMM 41. That is such a good song. + it links with the x-men :)
Today i didn't fell like crying because i realised that life is just to short.
People got killed. Bad things happened. But at the end of the day, life was only another ride, like it or not, I'd been given a ticket, so what else could I do but hang on and enjoy it and save the tears for when it was time to get off.
Both quotes from 'Sex and the City'.
This is a thread to list songs that actually reference any member of the X-Men, lonewolf.
Sum41's "It's What We're All About" was on the soundtrack to Spiderman (featuring that guitarist from Slayer... Kerry?), and has nothing to do with/does not mention either title.
I need to listen to "In the Garage". Weezer is so cool, and Kitty and Kurt (obviously) are my 2 faves.
Alright, this thread got me wondering so I did a bit of searching a found a site that listed songs that mentioned comic book, cartoon, and comic strip chars...I went through and got all the ones that mentioned anything that had to do with the X-Men. Here they are...
"X-Men: A Little Prayer" by Modern Humorist.
"Stop Talking about Comics or I'll Kill You" by Ookla the Mok.
"How Long" from Poe (live only)
"Half Man, Half Amazin'" from Rock Pete's Soul Survivor.
"Comic Book Heroes" from The Tearjerkers Through the Back Door.
"Wolverine Sings His Happy Song" by Baltimore McCree. The song is sung first person by Wolverine, and the lyrics also mention Professor X, Magneto, and Sabretooth.
"Magneto and Titanium Man" from Wings' Venus and Mars.
"Super-Gran" by Billy Connoly.
"I solemnly swear I am up to no good." -The Marauders
"Those who hear not the music...think the dancers mad." -Unknown
"Now, I'm getting into the coffin....and you will get in on top of me if you know whats good for you"
Well, there's Dr Dre and Metallica - Disposable Heroes 2000, but I think that was part of the official soundtrack... does that still count? I also know Tangent Project - X Men Mean Streets
There's also a mention of them in "Absurd" . I'm not sure about the line though. I can't remeber who it's by either. It's from the Tomb Raider (first one) soundtrack...
