This has me way confused. How can a tail retract?? I've come up with a poll to try and make sense of things.

I think it was just another Marvel f&ck up, like Azazel talking about his tail when he didn't even have it. Artists mess up and then don't back themselves up. I just say either give her one or or don't. You can't say its f&cking retractable.....

Actually, Gaz, they EXPLAINED that it retracts.

Draz isn't making this up, so don't get uppity with her.

I want an "Other" option.

I'll choose "It retracts the same way you could bind 17-foot-wide feather wings under a corset and have no body notice them."

I thought this was all really amusing becuase I didn't realize that her tail actually did retract. I find that a little disturbing. I mean, birds call all folt their wings, but I"m hard pressed to think of an animal that can retract it's tail. Seeing as how unatural it is, I'd go with one of the more rediculouse explinations. I especially like the wind-up-head one.

Just to clear thing up, I wasn't getting uppity with Siona. She's my homey. I was just ranting a bit because the idea of that bugs me because IMO the permanent tail should be hereditary.

Perhaps she inheritied a bit of Grandma Mystique's shapeshifting abilities, but so weak that all she can do with it is make her tail apear and dissapear.

It is a goofy idea. But Exiles has always had a humorous slant to it (much Excalibur in the old days). And I think this was just a sort of in-joke explination of an inconsistency that probably got on Califore's nerves. Creators can be kinda touchy about their creations.

If it must be explained, I go with the hollow-spine theory. Or maybe rather, it retracts into a space that goes along her spine.

And while you might say how odd it is since no animal's tail retracts in that way... I'd point out that no animal has blue fur or a spaded tail.

It isn't really that much dumber than Wolverine having pointy bones that retract out of his knuckles.

Well, I didn't know her tail retracted, but, then again, I didn't know anything about her.

It does seem slightly against nature, but, you know, guess it could happen.

This makes more sense than a hollow spine. Your spine is already hollow isn't it? I mean, thats where your spinal cord is in the first place. Nocturne would have to have a huge spine for that to work.

Well, the problem with saying there is no bone in the tail is that a body part cannot move without bone. The muscle connects to bone, the muscle contracts and the bone moves.

I think that this is the best theory so far

But still it's stupid they sometimes draw her tail and sometimes don't. She should have her tail 24/7 like her Daddy.

I think that the Grandma mystique thing makes a bit of sense, buuuuuut the boneless think into the...ahem...cavity work too, however sick images that came to my mind with the asociation of tounge and tail in the same sentance.

I think that they might have just been a little inconsistan with the drawings, like someone said befor. A little disturbing but hey, thats the way I like it.
