Paty, why are some X-Men blue?

Paty,

Why are so many of the X-Men blue? Why blue, as opposed to, say, orange? This burning question is torturing the minds of posters on the Marvel forum:

Not an answer - but I read in a cool fanfic one time a fantastic 'explination' with how mutants are evolution and how uv light isn't absorbed by blue skin and how that could be nature,s response to the degenerating ozone layer.

This just brought that back and I thought it would be cool to mention ;). Writers (employed or fan fic) can come up with some pretty cool things to explain stuff sometimes :).

Nah nah nah/ It's because in their off time they form the Blueman group and play vegas
