:)Hello Dark Bamf, just noticed that we were the only Hitchhikers on the board at the moment. I must say that "So long and thanks for all the fish" was my favorite of his books, You have excellent taste in reading material.

:bamf:
A lot of other Hitchhiker fans disagree with that, but 'So Long--' is my favorite too, and it's largely because of Fenchurch. But other readers complain that Adams dashed that one off and spent no effort on it, and then had to write 'Mostly Harmless' to undo the situation. :(

Aside to Jill--do we have a :hrm: smiley or one with little :blanketty-blanks: over his head?

Mr. Cockrum I have a question.
As I'm sure you've heard, Nightcrawler will be in X2 (Geez, I hate that name!)
He will be played by Alan Cummings. I was wondering how you felt about Cummings playing Nightcrawler?

No opinion. I guess I've seen him in the James Bond movie 'Goldeneye', but I don't remember him at all. His face does have the right look, in my opinion.

James Howlett is otherwise known as Logan, as revealed in the Origin miniseries.

Sorry, just me being mischievious. :P

And I feel for Paty. I have no clue about the Hitchikers either. I guess we are in the same boat.

So now they've come up with a 'real' name for Logan? I don't think I like that any better than Paty does the 'Eric Lenschur' (sp?) they stuck on Magneto.

wel, HE still does not know it, but yes, he was origianlly a sickly little rich kid in southern Alberta during the late 1800's until 'Mr.Logan' (from the looks of him, his real father) killed his parents and the murder was pinned on him after he killed Logan with his claws the first time they emierged. it was quite good, actually. admittedly James Howlett isn't a name very fitting of the man he became, but he still does not have his memories so still goes by Logan.

thant reminds me i want to scan in a page of an issue of Wolverine for you, there is a nice little tribute to you in there. when Colossus died, they all had different costumes than the ones you designed, but in Wolverine, the artist chose to ignore that fact, and put all the characters in your costumes for Colossus' funeral ;) :(ok so only Jean and Nightcrawler and Colossus, but Jean was in the original phoenix costume, and Kurt was in his classic red V costume, and so was Petey... also when Wolverine meets up with Colossus in the after life (he kinda 'died') Colossus was wearing your costume as well. tho in both cases they got the boot tops wrong, but eh... close enough :p

Believe it or not, Paty and I both used to think Michael Jackson could do it--back when he recorded 'Thriller', and before he embarked on his crusade to look like Diana Ross's twin.

There was also an actor in the '50s, Nick Cravat by name, who would've been perfect if he wasn't probably dead--or certainly very old--these days. He started out as an acrobat and trapeze artist, became Burt Lancaster's coach when Burt was doing 'Trapeze'. They became friends, and Burt got Nick parts in his movies that required athletic and acrobatic talent. Nick wore a beard, but other than that he was a dead ringer for Kurt. If you want to check him out, go to Blockbuster and rent 'The Crimson Pirate' (a real hoot!) or 'The Flame and the Arrow', both starring Burt Lancaster. Nick never spoke in either of these films, he communicated in pantomime. I guess he probably didn't have a great speaking voice. He did have a minor speaking role in 'Run Silent, Run Deep'--another Lancaster film--and also played 'Busted Luck', the unfortunate Indian who became one of Davy Crockett's doomed companions in Walt Disney's 'Davy Crockett at the Alamo'.

And no, I didn't have Nick in mind when I designed Kurt's face.

Did you have anyone in particular when you designed Kurt, or was he all from your head? :)

He was just from my head. Originally I wanted a slightly unearthly look to his features, but the more I drew him the more handsome he got.

Ok, so I'm still trying to imagine Nightcrawler doing the thriller dance while singing like a girl. Uh... nope. :P

Personally, I think Alan Cummings looks great for the part, but based on the movies he's been in I don't like him all that much. Mainly because he's been in some horrible movies (Spice World, Josie and the Pussycats, Spy Kids) and the only good movie I saw him in, he was bad. (Goldeneye) So damn.

He's played a whole lot of different parts when you get into his stuff...can't say he's typecast...

Still...I think it's hard to judge him as Nightcrawler until we see him as Nightcrawler...

That's very true, but being human I base my judgement on past experiences. I've only seen him in those movies, that's all I know of him. Sucks that way.

He was a nice, normal guy in Prague and Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion...can't say much about Titus, I only saw the end of that...he wasn't a very nice guy though...very quirky in his 3rd Rock From The Sun appeance...he's grown on me a bit...

That was him in Josie and the Pussycats? I saw that movie yesterday. He wasn't bad at all in it. In fact, that movie was way the hell better than I expected it to be (my friend forced me into watching it). Haven't seen any other movie's he's been in, though.

i liked him in goldeneye. The role was for a dorky bad guy and he played it well. If the role is for an adventurous swashbuckler -crosses fingers- Im sure he'll be able to pull it off as well:)

Aaah... yes that was him in Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion. Another dorky role.

See that's where I'm worried. I have yet to see him as an acrobatic, swashbuckling, charming, german ANYHTING! So I have no idea how he'll do in that role. All I've seen him do is dorky.

He was the dork? I vaguely remember the dork. No details, but I remember seeing him.

But I had similar misgivings when I first heard they were casting Michael Keaton as Batman. All I'd ever seen him in were things like 'Beetlejuice' and that one where he and *the Fonz* set up a whorehouse in the city morgue. He was always totally wacky and off the wall, and it was hard to imagine him as the Dark Knight...but he pulled it off.

Ok, now I have another question.
Mr. Cockrum, do you plan on going to the Comic-Con in San Diego this year or any year in the near future? I go every year as do many other Nightcrawler fans. (I've seen them in costume!)
It would be really awesome. I know you live far away but consider it. :D
