I think it is built in to the psyche. Pekes look like little fuzzy faced babies. big eyes, tiny nose, laughing mouth...
dave's first reaction to Ringo was "If it's eyes fall out on the carpet...YOU get to pick them up and shove 'em back in.!!!" LOL
ringo soon had Dave wrapped around his little claw! I specks tootsie will, too...LOL

The Tootsie Pinkletoes name was originally one I coined for one of our baby birds...who had pink instead of gray feet. When I first saw this puppy, her tiny white feet with pale pink skin underneath just struckmy fancy and I said "Oh, look, another Pinkletoes. When we discovered she was a little girl, it was, of course, Tootsie Pinkletoes..cuz I just liked that name! Both for the bird and for the pup! Her fur was silver blond and she was the queen of the hill...hence her full name...Silverqueen Tootsie Pinkletoes. I would have added a Miss to the name but didn't have room on the pedigree...LOL... the only question was what her "call name" would be...Queenie, Tootsie, or Pinkle. LOL... She seems to be seguing into Tootsie...although we have called all of the above...LOL this human indecision is called How to Confuse the Puppy...
The thing with Pekes is that when they are small, they look like little wizened old humans...and when they are grown up they look like slightly bigger wizened old humans. both ringo and Tootsie have black faces...so Dave says it looks like they had an exploding cigar go off intheir face...soot all over!
I have always been of the opinion that Pomeranians and Pekinese were the same dog...If the puppy fell out at birth on it's nose, it got smashed in and they were Pekes...the smashing of the nose also seemingly stunting the growth of leg bones so they have these short legs ...If they fell out on their tails, it pushed the nose out into a point and shoved some extra length into the legs...It was all in how they landed when they were born...LOL

Hmmmmm...maybe it is not a jpeg format? the first ones loaded...and they were taken with the same camera and processed the same...so it should load...

the Brood is out in the barn...languishing for want of teeth...but i found the material for the teeth yesterday...so I shall get on it and we shall see if we can't get a brood pix up on the board.

Ms. Pinkletoes is absolutely precious (of course, she is a Pekingese puppy), and I, too, just adore that name!

I've always said that if I ever got a Peke, I'd name him or her Fizgig. Does anyone else think they look like that little fuzzball from The Dark Crystal? I also love their waddle!

Oh man what a cutie! She totally looks like an Ewok! Those dogs are so adorable.

I agree, Lucy--I thought Fizzgig looked like a peke the first time I saw him.
