Here's another page from Soulsearchers and Company, this one from issue #43, the issue I plotted as well as drew. I actually scripted dialogue for it too, but Peter David is the writer of record, and he rewrote it. In my opinion, my dialogue was funnier.

This splash page features Kelly and Janoscz, in civvies, with Peterson windowshopping in the background.

The page was inked by the legendary Marie Severin.

The girl in black--I don't know, just a miscellaneous model. The girl in white is Tanya Harding, the former Olympic ice skater who disgraced herself plotting the attempted injuring of skater Nancy Kerrigan. I just liked the face, so I drew her.

Oh yes...I remember dark...sorry watching more hockey than this dance stuff scating...may I should do..? Anyway these pics are cool...tip pens is some like copic marker? I didnÂ´t know the word sorry..

Hi Dave, I'm signed on here since I was lurking so much anyway. Might as well be upfront about it!

It's funny, when I looked at the blondes sketchbook page, I thought "that looks like Tonya Harding" but it seemed like such an off-the-wall choice I figured I was imagining things.

Good ol' Tonya. I always liked her better than the rest of those snooty skater princesses. She may be kinda on the "white trash" side, but I might be too.

Except where her ethics where her sport was concerned, I sort of liked her too. And the main qualification for turning up in my sketchbook was that she had a pretty face.

I don't know the term 'copic' marker, Josh--but we all used to call every brand by the generic term 'magic markers'.

Here's another one you may not have seen: in the '80s Marvel published a series of paperback novels. I did some of the covers. The most popular was the Captain America with the Red Skull, but this one was pretty good too, if I say so myself--:D

This is one of my old favorite movie characters, the Metaluna Mutant from the 1955 Universal International film 'This Island Earth'. In the '70s I did model kit design work for the legendary Aurura Plastics. One of the kits I designed (but which was never produced, alas) was of the Metaluna Mutant. I did this art on spec, hoping they'd let me do the box art. As it turned out, even if they had produced the kit, somebody else--the art director's brother-in-law, or somebody--would have gotten to do the cover. Oh well--here's the Mutant.

And whatever you do, don't call him 'Butthead'. :laugh::laugh::laugh:

BTW, for those with artistic interest, this was colored with felt tip pens. I discovered that you could use turpentine to blend marker ink. This piece was an experiment.

It worked, didn't it?

And lastly--for now--here's a quick little doodle I did in one of my sketchbooks.

I'm a dinosaur freak, y'know. It drives Paty nuts. Dinosaurs all over the house. If they had wings and breathed fire, that would be fine, but noooo...she sees dinos as the trailer trash of the reptile world.

dave I love that scifi novel cover one... the gold on her costume actually looks like gilding!! and the metaluna one... did that get published anywhere? It looks oddly familiar... what comes to mind is an episode of mystery science theater 3000.... I seem to remember an episode where the movie's villian looked kinda like that...
