Question about something in the Nightcrawler mini-series!

Okay, Dave! I have one for you, especially if I am going to twiddle my thumbs with a bamf tale and with good ol' Sehv the Oracle involved as well! Now, correct my memory if I am wrong, but wasn't there a Gainsborough dog food?? I am certain my brain is remembering that one correctly! Why did Sehv ever call him Gainsborough? Allusions to Kurt's proclivity for running with four on the floor, or what? Also, do you think the girl bamfs would mind a little cute competition for their short beaus' affection? I am having an idea! (uh-oh, better duck!!) :eek :pokejoke

I'm not sure I understood your last statement. As for the 'Gainsborough' crack--sorry, no dogfood. There's a famous painting called 'Blue Boy' painted by an old master named Gainsborough. It depicts a young man dressed entirely in blue. Gainsborough also painted a companion piece of a young girl dressed all in pink and displaying her little finger--that one's called 'Pinkie'.

I believe the dogfood was Gaines without the borough.

:doh! The painting! How could I forget that painting?? Now I know...thank you...And as for the memory, I confess to being in error. (that is what I get for trying to be cute and forget the clever! :blush) As for the last comment, I was wondering what the girl bamfs would do reaction wise to having competition for their affections, but I will imagine away! And the ducking...ah, I did have a short story in mind...short this time! I promise!

Gainesborough sounds enough like Gainesburger, so I could see the confusion. Especially since I am a bit of a dog person. ;)

"Land ho!" (French horns)

"Flat,
Flat world,
It's a flat. flat world,
I insist its flat as a welcoming mat,
And he's sailing off the end,
How about our crazy Italian friend?"

Well, it's been a while...But when I saw the byplay, I thought I'd join you two on the boat!! :D

How about that painting? Sure is pretty! Beats dog food hands down! :LOL

Yo ho ho and a buckskin sleeve, now the wh ite man's here, I guess it's time to leave. Why go to work and fight like a jerk? I guess we can pick up some kind of work in an Indian extravaganza--Wyatt Earp or Bonanza.

--Please don't call us, we'll call you--

Step aside pal, meet the new--BIG CHEESES of this Round, Round world! "LOL

"Whatta ya' got in the basket?"
"What are you tryin' to say, I got something in the basket that I shouldn't have?" - Little Blue Riding Hood
"May I have a look in that basket ? Let's see: sawed-off shotgun, knife, bludgeon, box of dum-dum shells...nothing suspicious here." :LOL

Refreshing my memory here...and having a good time!

" But Grandma, what a big subpoena you have in your pocket?"
"All the better to serve you with!" :LMAO

Dove off the boat and into the woods!

Not familiar with that one. More Freberg?

Do you know what mindless jerks were first against the wall when the revolution came?

Yes, that is more Freberg...now I know what to get you for a gift!

Wiat a minute...now you're going to Hitchhiker's??(Ragafrazzin rammagatz mumblefumfin mugga muff!) I got it now! the marketing division of the Sirius Cybernetics Corp.!
(You're testing me, aren't you?) I still have to reread that...I am weak on Hitchhikers! Always had friends who pushed me to read it...and I have been a slackard, I confess! :read ing now! Making atonement...:blush

By the way, you must be a frood that everybody really wants to sass! (And not in all of its derivations!)

Try beneath the dog-eared copy of "Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat"

By the way, I think I'd like to try a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster...always wanted my brains bashed out by a slice of lemon wrapped around a gold brick!... :urg

This is great! Little did I know that my signature would spark a tribute to Freberg. That album must have sold more then I thought or a some people have long memories.

I always thought that you and I were the only people in the world who had copies of that album, Jerry! I'm not familiar with some of StarChild's other Freberg references, though. I do remember a few odd bits like an Elvis impersonator singing 'Heartbreak Hotel' ('I can't stop muh laig.. .'), and a hilarious TV commercial for Chung King chicken chow mein which featured a guy in a dragon suit blundering through a supermarket, sending canned goods flying everywhere... :LOL

I'm gonna have to get out that album, dust off my record player, and find some new quotes. I just remember us with George trading verses. We were a weird group. :LOL

Yeaars ago I anticipated the loss of LP-playing equipment, and I copied the album off onto audiotape. It's one of the things I play frequently while working (or did, anyway).

A good call. Now the important thing is getting it onto CD, as cassettes lose their quality over time, and it gets harder to find good cassette players.
