I appreciate the birthday wishes and the really great cards. You understand the happiness of the day has been tempered by the death of my father...

Our birthdays are so close that I always screw this up and think they're on the same day.

I drew this on my birthday, thinking I was drawing it on Nightcrawler's birthday (and therefore yours) so here it is 4 days later with a new word balloon on the correct day:

I'm sorry to hear about your father on a day where you're supposed to be thinking about you. You have my deepest sympathies and I'm sure I speak for the rest of the Nightscrawlers staff as well.

I know you're not religious, but November is the month that Catholics all over the world recognise the dead and all masses are especially intended for the peaceful repose of those departed souls.

Would you mind if I put his name down in our church's book so that a mass could be said for him?

I would not mind at all. Dad was religious and I'm sure he'd appreciate it. And while I'm not, I respect other people's beliefs, and thank you for your good wishes.

Hey Dave,
Happy Birthday and many more. I am sorry to hear of you dad's passing. We have been praying for both you and Paty in your battles with your infirmities. We pray that God will help you in your time of grief.
God Bless, Man

PS Some friends of ours are moving to Tennessee so maybe next year this will give us an excuse to ride there and take a detour to visit you folks.
Again, God Bless and both of you take care.

It's that day again!

Thanks, Jerry. Not only did my dad die on MY b irthday--his SECOND wife died on HIS birthday. I see an uncomfortable tendency here. :LOL

Hey, Tennessee's right next door! If you get that far, you definitely have to stop round here! We've got the room here and we'd be glad to have you!

Sorry the message is kinda late, but I too wish you well, on your b-day, and always. I am also very sorry to hear about your father's passing, and I will keep him in my prayers.

You and Paty take care!

Happy birthday, and sympathies

Happy birthday, Dave, and deepest sympathies on the passing of your father. My dad died almost exactly a year ago, on November 30th. The pain of his loss never really goes away, it just fades a bit over time. I know that no matter what his age, it's always hard to lose a parent. I hope that you are getting through this rough phase okay.
