I saw the film last night. It was our last performance of Narnia the Musical, so we decided to all go see the movie in our costumes as a cast party. (Ah, what fun to look up and see the White Witch standing next to Aslan in line to buy tickets!) I shall post pictures of our Narnia cast up soon.
I really enjoyed it. I like what they did with the White Witch, though visually I just didn't agree with the changes made to her character. Other than a few changes, it went quite well with the book. Worth seeing!

The only thing better than this movie was seeing it with the kids. The looks on their faces as they sat on the edges of their seats totally wrapped up in the adventure was purest cuteness! (Except when my daughter decided it was too scary and hid beneath her coat!)

I am taking my nephew to see it when he comes to visit at the weekend, although I am going to see it tomorrow. He's ten and hopefully after this he will read the book, as it's about time he read some quality stuff rarther than the random mediochre vampire escapades he half reads then puts down.

Oh, yeah, and the time when my son declared, upon seeing the Centaurs, "There's the horsey-men!"

Finally got to see it today (but remember...it opened here Boxing Day)…I always liked Mr Tumnus as a gel…and he was such a little sweetie . There was a row of kids in front of me, and during the scene at the stone table (just before it broke…he’d been crying before) one stood up and said “That’s it! I’m not watching this movie anymore!”
Dad bought me a box set of The Chronicles of Narnia for Christmas...I never realised there were 7 of them...so there could be lots more movies...but why do they always start with the second book in the filmed versions?

They start with LLW because it was the first one published. The Magician's Nephew was actually written as a sort of prequel.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the publishers for re-ordering the series. I understand why they did it, but I continue to read...and will always read...the Chronicles of Narnia in their original order (the order in which Lewis wrote them)Originally posted by Angelique

Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of the Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Horse and His Boy
The Magician's Nephew
The Las Battle
It just makes more sense to me that way...call me "old school."

Heh. I've had some... "friendly arguments" with people I know about the proper order for reading the Chronicles. I'm very much of the camp that believes you should read them in the order in wich they were writen.
For one, The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe is simply the best book for introducing the series, imho.
You wouldn't introduce Star Wars to someone by making them watch Episode I (at least I'd hope not).
And also, to read them in sequential order you'd go
The Magician's Nephew
The Lion The Witch and The Wardobe
The Horse and His Boy (actually you'd have to read this book before reading the last few pages of the previous one)
Prince Caspian (wich starts off where TLTW&TW ends even though TH&HB goes before it in this arrangement)
The Voiage of The Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Last Battle

The movie was surprisingly wonderful. I was a little suspicious when I found out that Disney was producing this movie. They have the propensity to make major revisions in their screenplays. To my delight, they didn’t change anything major. To be honest, I think the White Witch could have been more frightening, but otherwise I was very happy with the outcome.
If the quality remains the same, I hope they do all of the books. I would especially like to see the Voyage of the Dawn Treader and The Silver Chair.

My box-set has them numbered in sequential order…so I’ll read them that way…I’ve only ever read The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, and that was back when the earth was cooling…I was telling my dad (when we were heading to the movies to actually see it) about the lamppost (the origin of which is in The Magician’s Nephew) and I told him that I had always just accepted it being there…I never questioned where it had come from, or why it was there in the middle of the forest...

Hey, guys!
Last month, I directed a high school production of Narnia: the Musical (yes, there actually is a musical version!) It is based on LWW. We altered the score and dialogue a bit, and it turned out wonderfully well. We opened up the same weekend as the movie to capitalize on all the hype and publicity. It worked...we played to full houses every night!.
Below, I have put the link to my online photo album of production photos from the show. Not all the scenes are represented, but it gives a good idea as to the feel of the show. Ours was much more light-hearted and comical than the movie, but the plot and dialogue was very close to the book (and movie).

Has anyone else either seen or been involved with a CoN staged production? I know there are several out there of LWW, MN, and PC.

Can't say I've ever been in a musical Narnia production, though I do wish otherwise! Nice pictures, and overall a good job with the costumes.

God, that looks awesome. Much more better then the ones we have had in highschool (around the world in 80 days, Harry Potter, Life of Elvis etc.).
Fenris had cool boots.

I just read The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe to the 6 year old girl who I tutor in English, which was great fun. Even better though was taking her to see the movie. I loved the movie when I saw it originally, but it was 100 times better seeing it with a kid. THe huge smile on her face when Lucy entered Narnia for the first time, when Father Christmas appeared, and when Aslan first appeared were awesome. I totally reccomend seeing this film with a kid, it is a whole new experience.
