This is my first time here too. I just want to answer yes. Nightcrawler should have a sword but a samari looking one. That is all.

i have a very good feeling that he will be getting a sword. Now, assuming he does, what type? i am thinking a rapier. somehting historic. romantic. swashbucker-y

and HOW should he get it? he shouldn't just show up one issue sword in tow. what do you all think the story should be behind our newly sword carrying elf?

Someone like Kurt has to have fencing foils or sabres in his closet! He just needs to take them out, dust them off, and strap 'em on!
If anyone asks, he'll give 'em a poke with his sword and send them on their way! I still think he should have some sort of sword with magical properties or perhaps a customized one that maybe is nearly unbreakable. Pleaze pleaze give him a sword back or I'll hold my breath!!! (holds breath and turns blue... like Night!)

now just to figure it out. did he find it? best an enemy in battle? a gift? is it magic? is it old? historic perhaps? is it new?

Hmm, I know rapiers and fencing swords are kind of the "norm" for Kurt, but I wouldn't mind seeing him brandishing something else. A Broadsword might be to big for him though (I've always imagined Kurt as being a bit of a lightweight, for whatever reason), although a lightsabre-ish holofoil (is that what their called?) would be kind of useful, just because it could be easy to store and carry, plus it would have a nice "cut through anything" property about it. Of course I think a katana would be kind of cool too, and I can really see Kurt using the sword style iaijutsu, (it involves transformation of the act of drawing one's sword into an attack upon the opponent. Or in simple terms, you attack as you draw the blade and then sheathe it again in one smooth, quick, motion).

As to how would get a katana, maybe a gift from Kitty or Logan? I'm sure a sword buff like Kurt would know the style already....

Some ideas:

The X-men get attacked in a museum, Kurt grabs a sword from a display case, and decides he likes it.

They face one of their many enemies who can only be harmed by metal, and Piage and Logan are out cold or not around, so Kurt has to fight it with something metal- a sword.

A gift from a friend somehow associated with swords, like Amanda or Capt. Britain.

So may its some prophecy that he woulld get just THIS sword(some like like long ago smith did for exact the reason that once a man, a swordman will come and get it.Some special one with a heart of gold ...)
So may he dreamed or/ and heard about the sword and after this he will found exact these sword...
