Wow that is badass! I may have to use some of these techniques! Due to the not so yellow eyes, some yellow eye liner may do the trick! Thank you JSherlock!

And give me about a week to finish up Scarlet Witch and may be able to share finished product soon...

Talk about procrastination! I am currently hemming my wife's cape and I have finished the rest of her costume. Give me a day or two and I will post photos or her final look. All I lack is the second leg, meaning that I need to attach the black leg to the red middle piece to the white ankle piece. Shown below is the final look as shown on the right leg, sans some hot glue I am added to the soles of the shoes to add traction. Also, I got my wig cut, and while it looks big and cartoonish, it Is 70s Nightcrawler, after all. I can post a picture if you want me too you get your opinion. I still need to do a dress rehearsal of the whole shebang, and that is when I will figure out the make up technique. I am so excited for Comic Con. Freaking out...

Big feet! :D
They look great, and quite practical for roaming about in crowds. The more sock-like approach can get dangerous. Heheh.

That's gonna be one fantastic costume!

It was working before. Could be that it's an animated gif and your web browser/bandwidth doesn't like its source. Let me find another version.

When I opened the link, it appeared in the forum... weird.

Thanks! the only way to really make the toes prominent is to make the feet looooong. However, I designed the toes to be quite versatile so that walking isn't too difficult, even if it does feel a bit awkward. The hot glue on the soles definitely add a good grip that I was lackin before, as well as protectin the fabric from weaing down over time.

Still hemming the cape btw... it is a lot mare than it looks lie, lol.

T minus 2 weeks until Comic Con and the excitement is building!! I've finished my wife's costume and I've posted pictures below. Now, ladies, I have a question. The shoes we have are slightly tight and she doesn't want discomfort and blisters after an hour in costume, but it looks incomplete without the boots! Adding insoles would only make them tighter. Any suggestions besides breaking them in?

This last one is because she really wanted a picture of her trying to be a villain. And our dog is very photogenic

Also, I've finally finished my costume as well! I will need to double check everything to ensure a great look, however. Also, I need to test the makeup look and wanted to ask your opinion about the wig. I got it cut, but it may still look too big. It may be because I am loosing my hair and I am not used to seeing so much. Keep in mind I am going for the 70s Nightcrawler look (Cockrum and Byrne era mostly). Also, I can style it smaller, but the slightly messy look is key. I've posted a Cockrum drawing photo for comparison.

What Angelique said!

I avoid heels like the plague, so forgive me if my suggestions are useless. :)
There are squishy partial insole things made for heels that may not add too much to the tightness. If it's the backs of her heels that are the concern, slick blister pads may be adequate protection. The costume looks great, by the way.

depending on what the boots are made of, they make those things that look like feet that can be used to stretch them out a bit. i've seen them over the years in shoe stores and my grandmother used to have them

i think the wig works for the look you're going for and scarlet witch looks really good!

Thank you for all the tips! Thin blister pads and a shoe stretcher may be what the doctor ordered... And the people have spoken. The wig will remain as is.

Also, I'm glad you think the costume is passable. I know nothing about how to make womens clothes, so I am quite pleased with how it turned out.

So UPDATE: My wife will NOT be wearing the Scarlet Witch costume to Comic Con. Without going into too much detail, she has informed me she does not feel comfortable wearing the costume. Not only are the shoes impractical to wear at a convention (which I totally understand), but she has social anxiety and doesn't want all the extra attention. However, when we do my full dress rehearsal as Nightcrawler, she will dress up as well and we will have a photo shoot together. This way, I can have plenty of pictures of us together in the costumes I have worked so hard on (heh heh... hard on...) and she doesn't have to feel embarrassed, objectified, or singled out. I'm a bit bummed, but I understand completely and don't want to force her to be something she isn't. I plan on posting all the photos here in the following week or so.

The costumes came out wonderful regardless, Bob. Well done. And I completely understand the hesitation and strain behind going in public in a costume. It's not for everyone.

Especially when some people expect you to be a performer of sorts. Taking a picture is one thing but someone coming up to play-battle Scarlet Witch and expecting one to improv a funny scenario can be overwhelming.

My friend went as Quailman and asked people if they had seen Porkchop.

No one got it. :<

So I did my full dress rehearsal tonight, and I must say I am happy overall with the results! A couple alterations here and there. I can't say it's perfect because I know where I have screwed up, but for the purposes of the convention, I don't think anyone will notice the minor flaws in the design. I just hope I don't end up embarrassing myself... Pictures were taken and they will be up soon.

So, I DID IT!! Some guy said I was the best Nightcrawler he's ever seen and I got a ton of photo requests. Throughout the day, problems occurred, but they were overcome. My heel piece kept slipping off and makeup was on some of my clothing, but all was easily fixed. Also, my tail's support piece broke midday and was willy nilly the rest of the time. I had to remove it near day's end. These are only a few pictures I have.

I apologize for not responding right away, with all the hullaballoo over Wagner coming back, I didn't even see that this thread had been posted in!

I love the pics! The guy who did the beast and the Ackbar are also very cool! LUCKY DUCK!

Anyone ask you to Bamf?

Honestly Ang, I was so caught up in the moment that my camera was clenched in my anxious fists... And yes there were many people who asked me to Bamf and stuff, especial while waiting in lines. Also, my tail came off around six and when people asked what happened, I said I teleported inside of a wall...

Sorry I'm all slow-like. I float in and out at strange intervals.

The costume turned out great! And it looks like you had lots of fun. :D

Oh, wow, your costume ROCKS! GREAT job! And I so agree with you going for the original outfit - it's my fave!

Seriously, if you've got a picture album of this whole process, and/or photos from the con, I'd sooooo love to see them! Your costume is just made of awesome.

Thank you Marijke. All photos of the process is in this thread. I tried really hard, and for my first and probably only Cosplay, I think it went relatively well :)

You going to break it out again for another Con this year? Make some improvements (if any are to be found?)

Honestly, I think the costume was quite great. I bet you could hit the Con-Circuit and get some real praise for it. Even some creators would love that.

It's possible, but It will be a while... If I do decide to do it, there are some significant changes that need made. It sure won't be SDCC again. That was crazy! I loved it, but it was crazy...

I would need to be 100% confident in my contacts and tail, and make sure I am not going to any panels that day. The biggest problem was trying to adjust the tail to sit and that caused damage to the structural integrity of the tail. Also, the feet needed extra fasteners...
