I understand why they kept the pupils, for continuity sake, but I don't have to like it ;)

The new trailer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfBVIHgQbYk has more Nightcrawler in action at 1:33.

Spoiler: (highlight the text below to read)
Looks like he's in a cage match with Angel. Based on his clothes I wonder if this is linked to his circus performer background? It's also a reference to Logan's cage match in the very first X-Men.

I love this footage! I was wanting a Nightcrawler vs Quicksilver scene, but I understand why they didn't go in that direction... May 27th cannot come soon enough

Mystique and Nightcrawler's costumes especially reference the classic comic book outfits. Even Cyclops has yellow trim that resembles his 90's look.

Bob, I read it and you're on point!

A couple things to keep in mind -- the new trailer features him squaring off in what looks like a one-on-one match against Archangel!

Now THAT will be an interesting battle!

That's the brief action scene I mentioned in the last paragraph. I do believe that is going to be a great fight...

Sky Fibre with X-MEN: APOCALYPSE
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8yzKzwmCdU

This new commercial mostly features Quicksilver.

But Nightcrawler is there too, reading about Gothic Churches on his tablet, no less. (0:22)

He also does some teleporting and backflipping towards the end.

Another cross-over advertisement comes from Coldwell Banker.

They even listed the X-Mansion as a property.

Final trailer

More Kurt at 1:16-1:22
Spoiler: (highlight the text below to read)
Apparently Mystique rescues Kurt from the mutant-fighting cage match "Come with me!" and he recognizes her "You're her!" Probably as the first mutant filmed back from DOFP, not necessarily as his mother. Although she gives him quite a look in response to the recognition.

I'm starting to really like the crazy matador tuxedo he's wearing.

I just found extended version of the above comercial for Sky Fiber.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwBOVIxSK2k
It's much the same but longer. In this one Quicksilver takes a high-speed selfie with Nightcrawler's tablet and gets an angry growl in response.

And here is another (crap image quality) look at the X-Men's comic inspired costumes.

Another commercial tie-in with the movie.

This time it's a commercial for M&Ms featuring Nightcrawler and Storm.

Kurt looks so unimpressed. Folds his arms, holds a piece of paper over his head with his tail. I can almost hear his annoyed sigh. I'm guessing this isn't the first time she's pulled that crap.

Question. How do you cage a teleporter?

Re: Apocalyptic Kurt

My theories:
  1. In X2 they pointed out that Nightcrawler is afraid of teleporting when he can't see where he's going. By keeping him in a box/coffin he can't see where to teleport out. And in the fighting cage they keep house lights too low to see outside of the cage.
  2. He's been disparaged enough to believe that he has no where else to go, so he doesn't bother trying to escape.
  3. I hope it isn't the case but they may try some stupid BS about him not being able to teleport through electricity. Not only is the cage electrified in that clip it looked like the trunk/casket they kept him in was also covered in wire.

They pull jumper cable like things that spark off the trunk before they dump him out so I've been concerned that they're pulling some electrified entrapment crap as well.

Great observations guys! All sound plausible, but I think it's been drilled into him that he will die if he cannot see his destination when Bamfing. Also, here's a fan theory for you: after DoFP, the time line changed but some outcomes remain constant, like Wolverines adamantium claws. I think his scarring is not him atoning for his sins anymore. I think they are either a form of branding inflicted upon him by the slavers, or self mutilation from depression while locked in the box. Thoughts?

Well...in the original comic version, Kurt was raised by Mystique. Though I don't think that's the case here she may have been keeping tabs on him. Left him with someone to look after him, got updates on how he's doing. His stage name appears to be known, maybe it was with the circus. She certainly showed up PDQ to get him out of that cage. She was there before they dumped him out of the trunk. And he seems to know her, or at least recognise her, when they bamf into that alley.

And the scars. Well, AoA Kurt HATED the church. Didn't even like being in them. There may have been some 'do-gooders' in his past who tried to 'purify' him by carving angelic symbols in his flesh.

It's been a long time since I've posted anything on this board, but I drop by once in a while to find out what's new because I don't buy comics anymore. Nice to see a little action. I was afraid this board had completely died. :(

Love the commercials, thanks for linking those.

I'm looking forward to seeing this movie. Not happy that Singer is directing it, and that Kurt has those stupid scars and gnarly fingernails, but at least his character seems to be a little more Kurt-like. Let's hope he's not just window dressing.

btw guys, I don't think the writers of the movie thought all that much about what the scars would mean or what that would indicate about Kurt's personality if they were self-inflicted. It was my understanding that they were originally added just to give Kurt's skin more interest than just using blue paint. I wish there was a way besides CG to give his skin comic Kurt's velvety texture

I agree that the real reason the scars are there are to give his skin some texture. I suspect that they discovered with Mystique that dark blue paint and no texture just makes a character look slimey. It's actually pretty amazing to me that they are featuring 3 blue X-men in the same film. (Would be 4 if Archangel had gone that route.)
