This is something i've always wondered about...what does Kurt's tongue look like? It is like everyone elses? or is it fuzzy like the rest of him?

Pink, I should hope. Blue tongues sound so...reptilian.

Kurt is still human, well partially, and he has a tongue as normal as any person. All pink and assuredly hairless. No furred animal, or person would have fur growing out of their mouth. In the world of nature, it just wouldn't make sense...unless they used it for rope or something

I don't know I think i have seen it colored both ways, but one could be a mistake

I know I've met a biker who HAD a blue tongue, but only through tattooing...

Agreeing with Salinea, I've NEVER seen a human, mutant, and/or other creature with fur or hair in their mouths...unless you forget those every-pesty nose hairs and they begin to travel!!

i didn't necessaraly mean to imply that it was blue...i was only contemplating it...i mean, like, could scott's eyes have changed color? i'm just thinking in a philosophical way...

Besides I don't think fur could grow from muscle, just from skin...

yah, fur on a tongue is pretty much impossible, seeing as the skin on your tongue is so thin and the hairs would get in the way of chewing up the food for digestion. plus, the pink tongue matches his pink....er.....well, read 'A Not So Kosher Question' if you really wanna know.........

But, does the tongue has skin at all?

The tongue has pain receptors (which is one of the ways we "taste" spicy foods), and it has "taste buds", but it doesn't have sweat glands, nor hair, and it doesn't shed cells. Since it's meant to always be protected by the rest of the mouth, enclosed in a moist, warm, and relatively sterile environment, it has no need of skin, which is an organ in and of itself, designed to protect the rest of the body from extremes of temperature, dehydration, and bacteria. (This is one of the worst consequences to burn victims. You don't realize how much you rely on your skin until you lose it. Suddenly you're dehydrated, cold, and being bombarded by infectious agents )

In other words, the tongue has no skin. It doesn't need any. It's a muscular organ to itself, kind of like how your heart doesn't have skin, either.

Scott's eyes are brown...Kurt's tongue is pink...man that looks weird together...

Seriously, thank you for the compliment. I'm kind of a medical trivia buff. I even use my fanfic as a medical soapbox, sometimes.

Take it from a prof. No organism, that I am aware of, has hair on its tongue.

The tongue is an organ for tasting and manipulating food into a ball so it may be swallowed. It is mostly muscle and as it is internal, does not require a covering of hair. Hair on the tongue, if it existed, would be a reservoir for bacteria and other microorganisms. Not a good thing.

Hair functions as a protective covering and also, in some cases, provides sensory input, as in a cat's whiskers. Since the tongue is already protected inside the mouth and has its own sensory receptors, there is no need for a coating of fur. (Besides, that idea is disgusting)

...Well, I should hope so... If that gets changed, people'd have to revamp so many different pictures... Not to mention smilies.

On a drug thing at school they show'd us a picture of a guy who smoked and it grew HAIR on his tongue:eek...it was not a pretty sight....

When Nighty and I were together...eh...um...his tongue is normal. No blue and fuzzy:D

Ok so there's no fur but it still could be blue. a graffe's tounge is blue. right?...And i swear I've seen it colored both ways. I can't find a pic though.....By the way I'm new here. HI!:kiss

A giraffe's tongue is blue, and so is an okapi's (does anybody else know what an okapi is or am I just a zoological geek?).

Yeah, a giraffe's tongue actually is blue...not to mention around five inches long.
