What IS a Bandersnitch??
it's from a poem by Lewis Carrol.... The Jabberwocky.
[poem]
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
"Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"
He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.
And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!
One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.
"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.
`Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
[/poem]
then Dave used it in the Nightcrawler miniseries. people in an alternate dimension called Lockheed a 'Frumious Bandersnitch' since he was too small to be a 'Bandersnatch'

What IS a Bandersnitch??
I got the allusion to the poem, but thanks for expaining why it's a title here.what is a bandersnitch??
Sail away where no ball and chain
Can keep us from the roarin' waves
Together undivided, but forever we'll be free.
So sail away aboard our rig
The moon is full and so are we,
We're seven drunken pirates
We're the seven deadly sins.

What is a boggie? I am just wondering what all these titles mean???
What IS a Bandersnitch??
boggie was again from the NC miniseries. while the people in that other dimension called Lockeed a Bandersnitch, they called Nightcrawler a Boggie, confusing him with short impish little guys in yet ANOTHER dimension, and it became a running joke throughout the series.

Boggies as a name have a long history.
They come, I belive from a Bogart which is a kind of an old English/ Irish/ early American, imp.
Sort of like a Hobgoblin. There might be a conection to bog (as in swamp) spirits but I'm not sure of that.
Also in WWII they used to call enemy planes Boggies, I belive in reference to thier annoying persistant presence.
Another fun thing is that in the 40's-50's it was slang to call a cool guy a Bogart, in referance to the Actor (Humphry) Bogart.
