And thus there was no more Respect The Elf

Post by Born Blue »

For those who kept up with my website Respect The Elf you probably have noticed there has been zero updates in the past several months. It wasn't because I'm lazy (well, maybe just a little) but because my computer was broken.

I just recently got it fixed and it's running fine -- the down side -- my harddrive was wiped clean. Basically, all that which I needed to run Respect The Elf has been erased. To make matters worse I no longer have the software necessary to build webpages thus putting two nails in the coffin.

Of course the website itself is still working at - http://respect-the-elf.freeservers.com/pic.htm

But as far as updating goes there's no chance of that happening any time soon. Maybe if I gather up some dough and buy some new software Respect The Elf can continue, but that's still a ways away.

So what can I say? It was fun while it lasted and thanks to everyone who visited my site over the years. :)

:bawl Aw, MAN! I HATE to see a good website get stopped in its tracks this way! Here's hoping you'll be able to find a way to continue the updates at some future time.

And thank you for leaving it up as it is, for others to discover. :)

What kind of software do you need? There is a large opensource community with lots of excellent free software.

Basically all I need is software that allows me to choose my background color, text color and link color, and allows me to place pictures where I need them. Nothing fancy really.

I hope you can get the site up again soon, MoL. I've really enjoyed visiting it from time to time, and I'd hate to think it was gone for good!:(

Vala: "Isn't this my room?"
Daniel: "Noooo… your room is across the hall… with the… guard in front of it."
Vala: "Ah yes, they do all rather look alike don't they? Anyhow, Since I'm here, shall we make the best of it?"
Daniel: "No, we shalln't."

At least you can DL everything from your current page.

When my server crashed, I had to rebuild from dot. Ugh.

You have my sympathies.
