Yeah that's "Hello I Must Be Going" Ach! I hate that issue!:(:bawl:
My fave is Excalibur 58 but as I've said countless times mostly because it was what started this whole thing for me. Also it really is a wonderful ish!:)
It's classic Excalibur! Creative, funny, has all my fave characters from that time and a lip massage scene with Nighty and Cerise!:naughty:

Vala: "Hello."
Daniel: "What the hell are you doing here?"
Vala: "Isn't this my room?"
Daniel: "Noooo… your room is across the hall… with the… guard in front of it."
Vala: "Ah yes, they do all rather look alike don't they? Anyhow, Since I'm here, shall we make the best of it?"
Daniel: "No, we shalln't."

Honestly? I don't have an absolute favorite. I like Dave's mini, it was just SO CUTE! Many of his Uncanny issues were great, but Excalibur is the reason I fell for Nighty. The original Claremont/Davis ones and the later Davis ones all rocked! I also liked Warren Ellis' run on the book.
Standouts and why?
Excalibur Bookshelf Edition: When he put Brian in his place! That one scene set the tone for the entire run of Excalibur. Kurt was always the leader, always the hero, not Captain Britain.
Excalibur 16: Conan! Great cover (rrroOW) great story.
Excalibur 42: The return of Alan Davis! Yay!
Excalibur 99-100: Tough Kurt. Okay, he had a bad outfit and hair, but his attitude kicked ass!
I've also always loved his return to the X-Men, because that was the first issue I ever saw him in. Reading my Hubby's X-Men issues, I immediately liked the funny blue guy in the Hawaiian shirt and wanted to learn more. He suggested I read Excalibur and told be all about Nighty. I think he created a monster.

Lol! I can see your point, even if I don't know enough of the work to judge. Hee! You're funny. And yes, I'm hyper. Eating candy corn and honey pumpkins does that to me!Originally posted by Man of Letters

Hey, when did Warren Ellis make him a stumbling buffoon? I always thought his Kurt was rather good, even if he looked a little too "kewl". But I liked his tough, no-nonsense attitude.
My favorite Kurt issue might be the '95 Wolverine annual. It's during Logan's "feral" period, and Kurt comes out to Westchester because he's worried about him. Then they fight some demons together.

A few issues before he tried to make Kurt a hardass with a goatee. It was him and Meggan fighting off a bunch of generic troops in helicopters. And at that point, the man who once upstaged Cyclops in strategy, decades of Marvel continuity, and countless issues of him leading Excalibur were thrown out the window when Nightcrawler's ultimate plan suddenly became,Hey, when did Warren Ellis make him a stumbling buffoon? I always thought his Kurt was rather good, even if he looked a little too "kewl". But I liked his tough, no-nonsense attitude.
"Uh. . . Meggan, do something"
I couldn't believe Warren Ellis would turn him into a confused little child. It's almost as if Warren made him an amateur again so HE could make Kurt how he wanted him to be (a goatee wearing freak).
And on a side note, I was never a big fan of how Nightcrawler got taken out by a left hook from Spiral. Like 4 issues after he FIRST joined the X-Men he was taking harder shots than that.
But that's just good ol' Warren for you.

I"m STILL confused with the whole goatee thing. But we had a whole topic devoted to that subject.
I haven't been reading the comics long enough to have a favorite issue, I like whatever comics he's *in*.

I think Warren Ellis was trying to pick up the tougher Nighty Alan Davis introduced in his last run. I agree Ellis had some dumb moments, but overall I remember him being okay. I'd have to reread to know for sure though...
I LOVE tough Nighty! He can be tough and a leader and still have his sense of humor and charm. That's my favorite take on him, and the way I try to write him in most of my stories.

I don't mind him tough, as long as he's not too tough, and especially not too serious.

yes he need to be though but funny. i like what Ellis did, i wasn't a big fan of the beard because how a person with fur can have beard? i think is a little strange (well at least not for my dog but i'm getting off of topic ) having beard and being furry.
