Here's my short review of Issue 1.

It gets a C.

Reason being I think the writer performed the ultimate cardinal sin of an ongoing series -- the main plot is not about Nightcrawler. Regardless of the fact Kurt is an established character, ALL story based media revolves around your main character. Be it his family, love life, friends... the plot should be connected directly to the core of the character. The current story simply is not. It might be. It's not over. But chances are it's not. This really feels more like a mini-series than the start of a ongoing series. The type of stories he's telling now are the type of stories you tell later in the series when you need to cool down and give Kurt's personal life a breather.

Beyond that the story itself was subpar and poorly paced. His characterization needs a little work too. A solid issue, but I see no lastibility if it continues down this path.

"My main reaction after reading it is; why? Why give Nightcrawler his own book?" So says Harold Bloomfield. What a dork. Sure, the comic wasn't as great as it could have been, but how could you even ask this question?!?!

The obvious answer, Mr. Bloomsfield:

BECAUSE NIGHTCRAWLER ROCKS!

I still can't find a copy of it.
