I LOVE that Kurt wears normal clothing some of the time in this book. It makes him seem like a more believeable character (and he looks EXTREMELY hot!!!).
As for the pet thing? I think it would make him look too much like a cartoon character or a mascot. And besides, Kitty already did that with Lockheed. Kurt wouldn't be inclined to get his own sidekick. Though, if Lockheed just happened to show up at the door...
In fact, since I'm taking up space here, I think it could be fun if there was an Excalibur reunion issue! All the key players are alive! Right? Well, there's my two and a half cents. Thanks for listening, Darick!

Kurt, Ororo or Logan DON'T need spandex. You can recognize them without the costume.
Which is not true for Cap America, Hank Pym and Hawkeye. Put these three in civil cloths, they're EXACTLY the same guy !! A lot of super heroes need a costume, but not Dave Cocrum's creations.
So, just keep doing that please Darick. Only occasional spandex for Kurt.
I agree ! He looks a lot better in "normal cloths " than in spandex.I LOVE that Kurt wears normal clothing some of the time in this book

That's the idea. Spandex when he's on an X-men mission.

Ditto! Although it kinda happened already (sans KITTY) over in Uncanny recently. Definitely like that Kurt is out of costume. Visually Kurt is hands-down one of the most striking and instantly distinguishable comic book characters around. Putting someone with such extremely distinctive physical characteristics in everyday clothing always makes for a cool visual!Originally posted by ElfSpam

OOH OOH OOOH!!!! :: jumps up with hand in the air ::
You know what would be so cool? If there was a store in New York where he'd actually go to get custom pants and boots and gloves and stuff. I mean, look how many mutants have been walking around NY in the previous X-books ... There would totally be a market for a place that made clothes to meet special physical requirements.
Hah! The brain-type thingy is working again!

I just think it would be neat if, just on an offhand part of one issue, he has to shop for clothes in this store where there's shirts for people with wings or four arms and glasses for people with more/less than two eyes and stuff like that. It would be a great chance for Darick to express some of that famous creativity ...

And Cyclops could be at the register and the guy would be like, "The usual Scott?!":LOL that'd be funny. And Kurt goes to a salesperson with pants and says, "Do you anything with a hole in the back?!":LOLOriginally posted by DoomInABox

That's sort of what we were going for in the opening of issue 2. I have mentioned this to Roberto. We figure Xavier's rich enough to have all Kurt's clothes tailored.

Wizard magazine did an estimate of how much it would cost to run the mansion for a month. I think it tallied up to like, fifteen million or something ... FOR JUST ONE MONTH. it was astronomical. Plus xavier can afford jets. Multiple jets. Everytime they need a jet, it is spontaneously pulled out of someone's butt. I'm pretty sure Xavier can afford all the funky clothes Kurt needs.Originally posted by Darick

I think it would be cute that, if in cold weather, he had like a tail warmer or something. Like a mitten for his tail. With a pompom. Okay, now I'm scaring myself.

You mean like a snake sweater, 'cept for his tail?
They are really easy to make, and you can make them for just about any sized snake, AND if you make them girthy enough you can use 'em as a very shapeless knee stockings!:LOL
They're made out of yarn and very warm.
Yes, I know I'm a wee daft.

Such a very good question...that's just such a disturbing image. Kind of goes w/having mittens with the string through the arms of the coat....Originally posted by Darick

You do know I was joking right?:smirk
sarcasm, people.
Like I would want to see the beginings of Steve Erkel in Nightcrawler:rolleyes
Just...no.
I'm sure the fur on his tail is sufficient enough to keep it warm, and if it does get cold, he can shove it up his...sweater, jacket, hoodie thingummy.
My wish...complete spontanious combustion of emotions...though I think I mentioned it..hmm..

hehe. I love this sort of discussion. I'm pretty sure that Kurt sews his own tail holes. With his circus past he probably knows how to make do, and besides, you wouldn't want to have somebody else put the hole in slightly the wrong spot. He would get chaffed in unimaginable places!

HA! You've derailed the topic with your topic of derailing! ... ow, my brain hurts now ...
Actually, all jokes about chaffage and tail mittens aside, I would like to see Kurt engaging in a few normal activities once in a while, you know, in between or on the side of his wacky adventures. I just always found it funny to see him sitting in a coffee shop or buying a hot dog with everyone staring bug-eyed at him, and him politely pretending not to notice.
And for the record, I like how he hasn't been elevated to god-mutant status. I like how he had to call in his friends to help him when things got out of hand, and how he doesn't snap up with an immediate answer to every problem he faced. He did it all by the seat of his pants, so to speak, which really made me relate. What would I have done, facing fourteen angry demons? When curling into a little ball on the floor and rocking back and forth were not an option, of course. I like to think there could be something of Nightcrawler-ish-ness in me, just a teeny bit. And I really do love it when characters are portrayed as merely human, who try their best.

Okay, I've been reading old Excaliburs and what I'd really like to see is for someone to dig up an old photo of Kurt from his Excalibur days and grill him about why he was dressed like such a pimp. Really, the fuzzy coat, big hat, huge sunglasses...I know it was to 'hide' when in public but could the boy have *been* a bigger fashion disaster? ><
