Post by CurlyyHairGirl »

I don't mind the facial hair all that much. A few artists seem to wanna put it on him, and though technically not Nightcrawler, the crawlers in The New X-Men: Here Come Tommorow arch by morrison and Silvestri (I believe they're some kind of clone, originated from Kurt's DNA, the resembalance is too uncanny) seem to be sporting rough beard, goatees and really wild sideburns.
Unfortunately, I only got to see the last page of the previews, the only one that will show up, so I can't get the full view of his facial growth...but I must say, I like Nighty best with long hair :lick:naughty

Carlos Pacheco gave Kurt a small beard during his run on Uncanny.
He really looked like that Corsair character -Cyclops's dad- and had a sword.

Just one little week, and Darick and Robert's awesome series will be back ! :)

Here's an interview with writer Aguirre-Sacasa about the comic. It also has a preview page from #7 :surprise

And pirates! But I can't get that thumbnail to link to the big version :mad

Gnerf! I can't get the "pirates" pic to open, either!

So there will be a direct connection between the ghosts of issues 5+6, and what happens here? :scratch Insteresting. I thought issues 5+6, while great mood pieces, were almost treated like filler. No it seems that this is an illusion, fostered by the fact we've had WAY too much time pass between episodes 6+7.

DAMN, those previews look good. Even though I'm also not much for Kurt with facial hair past the fuzz, it has such a humanizing effect here that I'm more than willing to accept it.

After reading that SACASA interview I am very, Very VERY excited!
Oh and even if it is just an apparition or something along those lines it was great to see...
what looked to be KYMRI, who we havent seen since waaaaay back in EXCALIBUR vol.1 (and who if i'm remembering correctly I think Necron killed?)
...in those preview pages. Not to mention that DARICK is really hitting his stride! I've always said that you can tell when an artist is a HUGE fan of a character because it comes through in their artwork...

WALTER SIMONSON's - THOR
JOHN BYRNE's - WOLVERINE
FRANK MILLER's - DAREDEVIL
JOHN ROMITA JR's - SPIDER-MAN
ALEX ROSS' - CAPTAIN MARVEL

and from what i'm seeing from his work on this series we will have to add DARICK ROBERTSON's - NIGHTCRAWLER to that list!

P.S. Re: the upcoming team up in issue 12 with "A Marvel superhero who is not a member of the X-MEN." The likely choice given the tone of the series so far would be ...
DOC STRANGE.
The inner fanboy in me tho is screaming for Marvels OTHER incredibly agile, wall-clinging Movie star....

Darick has been the most successful, IMO, in bringing out the human side of Kurt - drawing him as a man while still retaining his unique characteristics. Sometimes you forget that Kurt is human, underneath all the mutations. This to me, brings you to the point where you really look beyond the blue colouration and tail, and see the man that he is.
Amen to that honey! Darick, I officially love you, just from that one panel! I'm gonna be at that comic shop the second it opens Wednesday... well, maybe the second I get off work. ;)

Yup, my solution was just like what Nutter said, he uses an electric shaver that he can adjust the depth on. I wanted to be able to explain that Excalibur goatee he had!

There's a glich in the link to page 15...all you have to do to get a full size look of it is to open either of the other two pages...go to the end of the URL and change the number to 15 and it works just fine...pretty sweet too...

Or you could try this...

So...is that Kurt's impression of Jack Sparrow or
Kymiri
as suggested above...

I can't wait!!! Spot question, Kurt’s chin always looks smooth as a baby’s behind so how exactly does he tame the beard? I can’t see him using a razor and cutting it with scissor would take forever. :?

Actually, now that I can see that close-up, I think it's the former. The first picture of the costume is a bit androgynous, but that second close up in profile is pretty masculine. It seems that he's changed, and so have the other three females, in that dreamscape morphing kind of way.

He looks good with the long hair and the tricorn, doesn't he? :naughty

I just finished reading number 7!
Excellent pencils (dear Darick!), excellent inking, excellent colour, excellent writing. And all about my favourite character. And all for my birthday.
:bday
Now that’s fan service.
Thank you for a beautiful issue. I already want to reread it. I’m already impatient for the next one. This hasn’t happened in a long time. Thank you for listening to the fans.

I missed that. :)

I just finished issue#7 too and I can't express my joy.
I tried at http://www.darickr.com, but I feel my words are below the truth.
Simply put : the beginning of this new story arc totally ROCKS !

All about the art and the plot are appealing to me.

You know... As great as the comic looks when it's inked and colored, I almost like the pencils better. They just have so much life by themselves.

I really hated how this issue ended too quickly. It's actually the first time I was so into the story that I turned the page and got air and was like "are there pages missing or something..."

Curses!

Except for that... "problem"... it was awesome.

The whole day was good. I didn't have my birthday today or anything cool like that, but I was waiting on some kind of scary news from the vet school. And I got good news! And then I went to the comic book store.
I loved how difficult it was to tell what was real and what wasn't. Like with the woman outside the confessional - was she speaking or was he hearing things? Though I have a lot of questions... Such as: How long was Kurt wandering around like that? And, how did Kurt get from where ever he teleported to to the mansion? And who sent Vermin anyway? (Since it's doubtful that it was just happenstance - I love how Roberto mines the Marvel cannon for characters...) And what's in the trunk of course.

I suspect that many or all of these will answered by future issues in the arc.

And I was so busy with the questions that I forgot to mention all the cool touches I noticed - like how the future covers to 9 and 10 are in the book and how the sign outside Kurt's cage at the carnival is the same as the title of the comic. Very cool.
That's what sucks about mysteries, you just end up with more questions.

Congratulations on another amazing issue, Darick! Every single page was simply beautiful. You never fail to capture the details as different thoughts and emotions go through Kurt's head, and the results are just awesome. Please don't ever leave this title; you rule!!!!!! :D

Don't ask me why, but I loved how you drew his teeth...:shifty..what?!
The appearances of mystique and Stephan were awesome, and I just love how Emma is trying to help him and says that he's annoying her *snicker*. I couldn't help but think of AoA Nightcrawler when 'Mystique' tells Kurt that he could be ripping the monkey's to pieces with his bare, three fingered hands...I..wah?..yes-I have problems..:toothy
Palmiotti's inks are awesome!!!

Next issue is to far away, thoug I think I can handle the one month wait vs. the previous four.

Al else I have to say is...
