I don't see why you would think he was. His name is a reference to his wings, not his sexual identity.

angel is the name of the "wampire slayer" in the buffy wampire slayer.. all so in hes on serie Angel..
so no he isnt gay probably
think about the name "andy" for a girl.. would be the same

I think she's talking about Angel in the X-men, not in the "Angel" series.
