Taking the NR-EMT written exam tomorrow!

Celebrated passing my written NREMT exam with a hiking/bouldering/spelunking expedition with the kids through Wolverine Canyon today. The only thing that marred today was an incident that called for treating some (thankfully minor) injuries and hypothermia in a very precarious location (steep trail up a canyon wall, and no cell phone service if I needed to call for help). What was especially awesome was the very calm assistance I got from my daughter, who is normally very squeamish about blood.

Suppose one good thing coming of our cast schism, I've been upgraded from random whore/nurse to narrator, at my audition the director said I had great stage presence and audience awareness ... now I just gotta practice being masculine now ><

Day one of my volunteer work as an assistant school medic was today. The school RN and I ran health checks on... the preschoolers! I had one who burst into tears at the sight of the BP cuff, another who regaled me with tales of pirates on the high seas, and one who knew exactly what we were doing because he has a toy doctor kit at home.

Haven't heard from one of my fanfic friends in about a month, and she finally emailed me! Her internet is very very very (to whatever power) unreliable now, but at least she caught me up on stuff happening in her life. I needed to hear from someone young and healthy as (pardon temporary "ass" mixed in the coffee - yuk!) one of my friend's hubby's dropped dead a couple days ago and two of my elderly friends are on the brink.

Also, my stepson got a temporary job. ANY job is good now, and they may keep him on for quite a while. I hope he perseveres. (I also hope he finds a way there and back so I don't have to drive hour round trip to help him out; he lives across town from me, and the job is even further.)

Due to one of their old teachers retiring in July, the private school I applied to offered to hire me as her replacement. So, by the look of it, I'll be teaching English and German soon.

I finally got my official acceptance letter! I am now officially a research student/PhD candidate in the School of History at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland (starting this September)!!!

It's a three year program and my research topic will be The Concept of Time: Science and Travel in the 18th/19th Centuries. I'm so excited, I can't wait to get started!!!! YAY!!

I'll try.

Because as those of you who actually pay attention to my whinefests on the ass thread know, I've been having seven kinds of hell due to a clerical error that my local council weren't owning up to, meaning I was in debt by about Â£5k and sinking fast. I won't go into details, but suffice to say I tried to appeal, got shot down and nearly ended up with losing my flat, everything in it and my sanity.

(Still no capslock, let's see if I can keep this up...)

I just got a phonecall from my fosterparents, who've been trying to stop me flying off the deep end (again) because of the sheer amount of stress I've been under.

They've just come into some money. They're transferring some into my account. Enough, in fact, to pay off said clerical error-induced debt.

We're gonna be okay.

I'm still in shock, and I haven't stopped crying yet.
