Plane tickets to Chicago aren't cheap, but I still might be able to take a trip to see the hubby sometime this month.

I also got new tires for my Cobalt for my birthday.

And I will limit my shameless bragging about the generosity and amazing capabilities of my kids to five words: chocolate nougat cake from scratch.

Things just keep getting better. Got a call at noon from the hubby just after he crossed the mighty Mississippi, and he said that his car, aka FrankenFord, is behaving very nicely. Went to the store to buy some disgusting grown-up beverages, and got carded. The local comic book store also had all four of the Spider-man/X-Men crossover, and they gave me a 15% discount for my b-day.

I want a discount for being old. Seriously. Anyone who has been reading comic books as long as I have, ought to get a discount.

I survived Thursday. It's the only day I have what I would consider a full workload and I don't like it. Only 15 more Thursdays to summer vacation!

The poem which won that little (and I mean little as in rinkydink) contest last November was in the little (ditto) community newspaper this week.

But, hey, it counts as being in print. Sort of. At least I can waggle it under my Daddy's nose and go, "See, your Baby is in print."

Thanks to modern technology and the necessity of long-distance communication, my kids are learning how to operate digital video recorders and video editing software...

...so that they can email videos to their father of them making faces and singing goofy songs!

That IS a Clydesdale. Good eye you've got there.

She's back actually - she'd gone home and now she's got diarrhea and so she and her mom are back.

She's a big pain in the neck to work with though. She's already whacked two of us in the face hard enough to make us see stars. (And give me a pretty good shiner!)

I think I'm going to stick to small animals. I think horses are cool, but ... medically, they're not really my thing.

Yeah, those sweet little things look like angels, but they can sure be little devils. I hope everything turns out okay for her. (And I hope YOU'RE okay, too!):D

Local Rebel Legion and 501st squads trooped at a benefit for the Make-a-Wish Foundation today hosted by a local martial arts school. One of the events was a board-break-athon.

Our Darths Vader and Maul ended up raising over $400 because:

1. They're no slouches as martial artists and they each broke 30 boards.
2. A lot of people wanted to see them pound the boards badly enough to pledge quite a bit of money. Vader took off his cape, but otherwise, they were fully costumed.

Oh, and I also got to experience the satisfying crunch of a couple of boards giving way to a right cross or elbow strike. (In all my training, I'd never actually broken boards before. It was fun!)

Just got my first test run on Left 4 Dead, which is stupid in it's own way since I waited for it for three years and tested it now about 3 months after the initial release. (my late test is stupid not the game)

It was AWESOME.
