I be June, like the month! I'm a little crazy girl from borderline Mexico, (aka El Paso) and I can't wait to actually contribute something to the forum other than random hellos.

Doesn't it? I've never noticed that before! Sadly, I'm a girl, so it wouldn't seem right if I went by Toby, huh? :D

Why not, aren't a lot of English names used for both girls and boys?

Outside of Hollywood, it isn't really all that common.

Yeah it is. My daughter's name is Jaydn. it's primarily for boys, but it is unisex. and I knew a girl Ryan in elem school. and I've known girls named Andi. And boys named Kelley...etc.

Yeah, but if it were common, we'd have more female Jaydns in my kids' class, and fewer Sarahs or Emilys. (I'm not kidding. My daughter has no less than four friends all named Emily.) Having a daughter with a name more common for a boy and knowing another girl or two with a boy's name does not make it common.

I don't count names like Andi or Bobbie as masculine or unisex names. If it's a nickname for a feminine name like Andrea or Roberta, it is a feminine name. And they're still not all that common. While I have known girls who went by Andi, Bobbie, Alex, Charley, and even Rocky, those were all nicknames for feminine names, and they were still greatly outnumbered by girls with "normal" feminine names.

As for guys named Kelly, even though it's not a common name, it's not all that unusual. Kelly was a last name and then a masculine name before it caught on with girls.

Still, being different isn't bad. If a lady wants to be called Toby, so be it.

I didn't ask if they were common. ;)

As in my language all names are either for males or females, if the name isn't something weird like "starchild" or something.
