Please, I need some major help
Okay, we've just finished reading the play Romeo and Juliet, and my teacher has given me an assignment. I have to find 10 to 13 songs to go along with scenes from the play, but so far I've only come up with the following 8:
"Any Other World" by Mika, to go with Romeo's feeling before the party
"Drops of Jupiter" by Train, for the balcony scene
"The End." by My Chemical Romace, for Juliet when she fakes her death
"I've Just Seen a Face" (Across the Universe version) by The Beatles, for the party when Romeo sees Juliet
"How Far We've Come" by Matchbox Twenty, for when Romeo is banished
"Help!" by the Beatles, for the scene where Juliet is asking the friar for help (clever, I know)
"Lovebug" by the Jonas Brothers, and even though I hate that song, it goes well with the party scene
"Dead!" by My Chemical Romance again. This time it's for Mercutio's death.
So, I need your guyses help coming up with some more songs. If anyone is familiar with the play, please try and help me in any way you can. It's due on the 28th, so this needs done fast.
Thanks!

"Say you love me" by fleetwood mac might sort of describe the young-love-ish factor of their relationship. (Maybe.)

Don't Get Me Wrong (Pretenders or the cover by Lily Allen) would be good for the balcony scene. Or the scene where Benvolio's asking why Romeo's so distracted.

You have more than a week and you have found eight out of ten?
-You have to find two songs in eight days.
-You are asking help on the board to get it over as easy as possible.
-You're just lazy and cheating.

I can't say I don't entirely disagree with Croc (it does seem like you are asking us to do your homework) but I would have said it nicer.
That's a polite hint to please say things nicely even if a ruder version is more true. Croc.

It's not that I'm lazy, it's just that I have a very limited amount of songs to choose from. I only have about a hundred songs on my iPod, and I'm super picky about this sort of thing. I'm debating wether I should have two MCR songs on there.
And I know that this is sort of lame of me to do, but it's not cheating. I'm just asking for a little bit of advice. This is only a bit of the assignment, I have lot more to do after this. I just thought that you guys have good taste, and a lot of you would probably know about Romeo and Juliet. You don't have to help me if you don't want to.
Alright, I guess that I never really looked at this as cheating before, but I see what you mean Croc, and you too Saint Kurt. I just thought it was the same sort of thing as asking a friend for help. It's just that none of my friends on my end of the internet know much about Shakespeare and they couldn't really help me.
Sorry for being a sleaze, guys. I didn't mean to cheat.

Advicewise, I would say that pretty much anything you feel fits for a scene, is what you should add there.
Sad scene, add something that you find sad.
Intense scene, add a song that sounds intense to you/gives you that kind of feeling. Etc.
This kind of tasks imo are the kind of things you have to solve by yourself because it's all about you and what you feel fits in to it.

I know you didn't. You're just being honest is all. Thanks for that.
And I see what you mean about the song searching, Croc. It's just that the song can't just be sad or happy. The lyrics have to go along with what happened in the scene. I've listened to all the songs on my iPod (took forever) and I could only come up with these eight. A ninth one I had was "You're Beautiful" by James Blunt, for when Romeo thinks he loves Rosaline, but I don't have access to that song, so I'm still at eight.
But I think I've done well so far. The problem is that I've run out of songs to choose from.

I did this project in my Senior Year except I had to actually MAKE the album. For two Shakespeare stories. (Extra credit)
This is what I had for Romeo & Juliett with minor additions:
"She's A Rebel" By Green Day
"Rapunzel" By The Dave Matthews Band
"The Idea Of You" By The Dave Matthews Band
"Long Black Veil" By Johnny Cash
"Shelter From The Storm" By Bob Dylan
"If Tomorrow Never Comes" By Garth Brooks
"Happy" By The Rolling Stones
"Angel" By Jack Johnson
"The Rising" By Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band
"Rosalita" By Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band <-- Actually inspired by events in said play
"Surprise, Surprise" By Bruce Springsteen & The E-Street Band
"Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" - By John Mayer
"Belief" By John Mayer
"Head Over Feet" By Alanis Morissete
"Girl" By Beck
"Yellow" By Coldplay
"Vindicated" By Dashboard Confessional
"Light My Fire" By The Doors
Plug any of these titles & artists into youtube to hear them. All will/should come up. Good luck!

Thank you so much, Ult. Did you have to choose songs that went along with the scenes? And if so, what did you yuse "Yellow" for, because I have that on my iPod (also, it's one of my favorite songs. I knew you guys had good taste).

Yellow would essentially be the scene in the ... ugh my memory's fuzzy. Garden? Ball? I forget where it is that he sort of talks to her from off stage.

ok, I thought of a couple.
Renegade by Styx - for when Romeo runs off after killing Tybalt.
Join Me In Death by H.I.M. - for when Juliet finds Romeo dead after waking, or alternatly, when he finds her.

Do you actually have to have the songs in your possession to play for the teacher, or can you just make a list of songs? If it's only a list, just google something like "he loves her lyrics" or "can't be together lyrics" and you'll get a whole bunch of songs that may fit. (Of course you've probably already thought of that....)
...and you're not a sleaze! You were obviously impressed by our brilliance and intellegence in matters of education and higher learning and sought our superior counsel...(except for me telling you to google something you've probably already googled like last week....) But I think you've made some good choices so far.

Did the teacher exactly say not to use the actual Romeo and Juliet movie with pop culture music If not then don't be surprised if some of that soundtrack's songs ends up some people's choice of music.

Yeah, the teacher did say we couldn't use the movie soundtrack. Now, the project is finished, and I did use Ult_Sm86 suggestion for "Yellow," for the balcony scene instead of Drops of Jupiter. I got a perfect score
"You're Beautiful," by James Blunt
"Any Other World" by Mika
"I've Just Seen a Face" by The Beatles
"Lovebug" by Jonas Brothers
"Yellow," by Coldplay
"Tell Me What We're Gonna Do Now," by Joss Stone
"Dead!" by My Chemical Romance
"How Far We've Come" by Matchbox Twenty
"Help!" by the Beatles
"The End." by My Chemical Romace
"I Miss You," by Blink-182
Yes, in the end I did use more than was needed, but TMWWGDN and I Miss You were completely random and thrown in at the nick of time. Thanks for the suggestions and motivation. You guys put me off in the right direction. It was cool of you guys to deal with me. I promise that I won't ask for any more help on homework next year (seeing as it's summer).

lol well I'm gladl you came up with anot too horrible soundtrack. You do have Jonas Bros. and My Chemical Romance on there, but thankfully you got Beatles which is equivalent to TWO JB's songs and THREE MCR songs.
Also you got Mika. I would've gone with "Grace Kelly" for a song about Mercutio, but that's okay. Mika rocks.
