Heh. I already knew it was 'Pirate Day' (hadn't heard about 'Talk like a Pirate' part) and I have a costume all ready. Though if you think about it... that's kind of sad... Anyways, no one but me is going to know what it's for.

International Talk Like A Pirate Day ?!
haha
That has to be one of the best holidays.
I told my friend and she said she'd talk like a pirate with me so I wouldn't look stupid by myself.

Any holiday where I can get a couple dozen adults to dress like a pirate on a random day in September is a good holiday.
In fact, my boyfriend and I are throwing our second Annual TLAP party in a couple weeks. I was *amazed* last year by how much people loved it. Without any prompting on my part, about half our friends showed up dressed like pirates (I had to scurry to my closet so I wouldn't look out of place!) and EVERYONE brought rum. It's a year later and we still have 4 bottles of the stuff.

Of course, the girl with the "theatrepirate" user name must have a post included in here! Our drama department has been smitten with pirates for a while. We even put on a production of "The Pirates of Penzance" last year. We actually have competitions revolving around "Talk Like a Pirate Day." This year our school will be on holiday on Sept. 19, so I've instructed the students to go out in public at make a 60 second video of themselves and/or their buddies talking like pirates in public places. The best videos will win the competition. (Hey, I am teacher who enjoys molding young minds with my obsessions!!)

I have a class on the 19th. But as this ties in remotely with what I teach, maybe when the dancers are changing shoes or whatever, I'll regale them with a couple of tales of Grainne ni Mhaille, the Pirate Queen of Galway.
