I'unno, Bman. I saw a guy outside my residence hall wearing a banana suit and dancing around. (Gotta love freshman pranks.) He did it pretty well.

Though I agree, Spock would rock way harder.

I like the idea of Pegg as well!

And I was wrong about Cho, he's not from Harold & Kumar, but he is from a comedy. I just forget which one. Apparently he did a spot on House or something... I'll get the info together later when I'm not super busy, but yeah, so far an experienced but still relatively unknown cast. Tres awesome!

And damn, he was awesome. Always loved the old trek, with poor special effects, overacting, some lousy stories and all. It's good to have them back, and this looks very promising indeed. Let's hope they get the humor right.

Wow, looks good. Better then what I expected, but I'll keep my expectations low so I might be surprised.

Hopefully Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard have something to do with the soundtrack, because the song on the trailer reminded me too much of the basic melody of most of the songs in BB and TDK. :P

I'm going to see it with Mr. Nel this weekend. I intend to wear my Star Trek shirt and my button that says, "Resistance is Futile", which I won for knowing too much trivia about the original series. :D

My son saw it. He liked it. I won't let him tell me about it. 'though. I want to be surprised.

I guess how well you like the movie depends on your "generation." My husband's first exposure to Star Trek was in the '80's with the movies and then with Next Generation. He didn't like the movie as much as I did, who was raised pretty much from infancy on original series reruns.

My only regret is pretty much the same as it's always been. Uhura's a brilliant character who doesn't get to shine enough.

I agree she didn't get as much screen time as she deserved, but they gave her a much better starting point and a lot more to work with for upcoming films. She's no longer a filler in the crew, y'know?

However; the film was, in my opinion, exactly what it needed to be.
It had all the nuances of the original cast/crew, so it kept true to that, therein keeping the old Trekkers in their seats while still shining through with some new and cool ideas that no one has thought of yet for a Trek film, allowing new fans to come in.

It was a perfect balance and then even more than that, it was a great (and I feel genius) way of staying IN CANON while still hitting the restart button. It's as if they said:

"look, guys. The last ten films were great! And they still happened... but now we get a chance to do it all again... and new... with cool twists and enhanced technology! YAY!"

Yeah! They gave a perfectly good explanation of why they could restart it and didn't flip off the fans with "hey, we got the rights and we can forget the original stories and change whatever we want..." They kept it true to the originals and now have the freedom to go in other directions. I thought that was a brilliant move.

(I'm looking forward to sequels.)

Ugh, the Nokia mobile with the cliche ringtone in the beginning of the movie gave me a cerebral hemorrhage.
Othen than that it was ok Romulan's were way more cooler than humans, and my friend and I would have liked to see a bit more of that space battle in the end.

Fantastic film! I went and watched the originals, and love it. <3 All I wanna know is why the hell didn't I get WITH IT and be a total nerdy geek in highschool?! Jesus, if i could go back and tell myself...

Great film - I agree Uhura got more, but not enough screen time.
