Well I though it'd be a good time as any to start an Ultimate X-Men thread for us to discuss in. So Discuss away.

My issues won't come! God, it's irritating as heck! I'm getting X-Statix and Uncanny, but Ultimate won't deliver (it's odd. I ordered all three at the same time).

Well honestly I liked the last arc, minus
the death of Beast of course
It was a step up from BMB's Blockbuster arc, which was really Lackluster. And Mark Millar's Year 3 on Ultimate X-Men(it's like if he stoped caring). I personally am looking forward to Brian K. Vaughan's run and I'm glad we now know it's at least 9-12 issues long. Also I won't lie, I'm super, happy, joy, joy about
Gambit
coming into the fold with #50.

You have a right to your opinion. Although I disagree. I have not found one book lately that I have liked the art and the story simultaneously. Of course now that is changing with Davis and Claremont teaming up once again. The Ultimates give creators the ability to freely create new origins without hurting or playing around with their Earth 616 counterparts. I like it because it's different.

Yes and no. When it comes to the Ultimates it is a way for Marvel to generate new revenue true. Cannot blame them for that. That's the business they are in. And continuity has already been forgotten with many books as of late. The X-titles are just now starting to come around to give credence to Morrison's Planet X arc. There is some continuity there finally.

I don't care what anyone thinks, I enjoyed the New Mutants arc by Bendiis. It was pretty darn good. Personally I can't wait for Brian K. Vaughan's run to start. He's a fantastic and talanted writer, heck check out his Y:The Last Man, and you'll know what I mean. And it's now looking like he'll be on Ultimate X-Men for at least 12 issues. Singer and Company's run is currently slated for Early/First Quarter 2005.

Beast's death was pointless. I don't know what this character did to Bendis, but in 4 issues, he quits Ororo, then the X-Men, becomes a looser, and BANG ! He's dead ! I know it's a brutal, meaningless death like in real life -I guess it's what Bendis wanted to do- but still : he was the Beast, a very interesting character. He didn't deserve to disappear like that.
Anyway, I hope Vaughan will use Nightcrawler more than Millar and Bendis. His character is like a shadow in this Ultimate title : he's seldom around, he has no personality, and he quite never says more than five words.

Indeed...he had such a kickarse introduction...then he faded back into the shadows from whence he came...yeah...he usually appears in at least one panel (though he's STILL not on the roster on the first page when Kitty, who was forbidden by her mother to be an X-Man, has been practically since she turned up) but what does he actually do?Originally posted by Diablo

I must say I did enjoy this issue but I didn't enjoy Peterson's art as much as Finch's tho. With both Bendis and Finch this book has been one of my favorite reads outside of the regualr X-Men 616 titles. Both of them will be sorely missed with this reader.
But I will give Peterson's art a chance however. And Northie has finally been introduced! YAY! I hope he becomes an X-Man! I wonder if he will have a crush on Bobby? Heh...I hope so.

Andy Kubert's art for #50 looks pretty good. He'll keep my interest in tact, well that and Gambit's finally in the book. Also I am enjoying Brandon Peterson pencills, however his inks are not top notch. The art would be better complimented by Tim Townsend's inks.

You know withing in 2 issues he's really got me hooked, sure he hasen't introduced much, but just the way he tells his stories has me intrigued. I can't wait to see where we go from here on this book.

Kubert's and Rems are back and that's all I need to make me a happy fangirl. I think Kubert's a highly underrated artist. His work has a kind of cartoony expression that I like. I'm just sad he isn't going to work with Storm's ponytail anymore, since I loved how he did that.
Vaughan is impressing me too. After this arc is he still writing Ultimate or are those the Singer issues?

This issue would have been amazing but there were certain things that were just off. Nightcrawler's accent for one. "Varmer velcomes." Stop it! Stop it now! It's stupid! Not to mention that he wasn't doing that last time he showed up. :p
Oh yeah, and Jean saying that if she blocked out all the boys' fantasies she'd never get anything done. Huh? So, what, it's easier to get stuff done with multiple porno films starring people you know running in the back of your mind? The only explanation is that she likes it, but was counting on Nightcrawler's lapsed English skills to not catch how what she was saying actually MADE NO SENSE.
Okay, now what I liked. Lord Apocalypse revealed! I liked that.
How Vaughan stuck a reference to Kurt's
pirate fetish
in there. Yay!
The art. I loved the art.
When Cyclops
bounced that beam off Colossus's head
Bwaha!
The conversation between Storm and Logan.

Ultimate #50 was a great issue. Of course I'm quite fond of Vaughan anyway since Mystique.
Issue highlights:
Gambit Returns! As if most of you didn't already know! The only thing is I do not like his curly hair. Get some straightener man!
On Kurt
he plays Dread Pirate Bluetail against Warren's Captain Eagle in the Danger Room. This was a great moment for me. I was hoping to see Ultimate Kurt do some pirate action and we finally get to see it.!
Yah what is up with Gambit's hair? I read it and then handed it over to my friend Nessy. She loves Gambit with the passion of a thousand suns but not the hair. The look on her face though was priceless.

I totally concur. Many of the reactions I've read about his return in this ish include negative comments about his 'do. Guess he's been too busy stealing things/people to get a hair cut.Originally posted by **Northstars Love**
