I just bought the tribute book

A monument and archive dedicated to Dave and Paty Cockrum. Nightscrawlers was their home on the internet and always will be. This forum preserves that legacy.

I have the original tribute book, and I was by no stretch of any imagination disappointed with that. It was great. And the tribute from Harlan Ellison was hilarious!

Received Tribute Book w/ Storm Sketch

Post by TedL »

I received my copy of the book on Monday. It's great -- the layout is much improved from the original softcover. There are are also some pieces that weren't in the original plus the addition of a Cockrum sketch gallery.

I got one of the lettered remarqued editions and it came with this cool sketch of Storm:

To anyone else with sketches, it would be great if you could post them. I'm particularly curious about which characters were included.

If anyone on this group hasn't yet purchased a copy, you should go to this link: http://www.aardwolfpublishing.com/Comic ... ribute.htm

Ted,

I got my lettered, remarqued edition in the mail yesterday, and my sketch was of Ms. Mercury! I'll bet there are a lot of people out there who don't know who she is, but I do! Given that she first appeared back in Star-Studded Comics in 1969 and that she was near and dear to Dave's heart, I think it's really cool that she was one of the characters which he sketched. My letter is 'Y,' so maybe he was just getting near the end and wanted to try something different. Anyway, I really loved the Futurians, and I could see someone else thinking, "Who?" if they ended up with it, but the fact that it's such an unlikely character and that she meant so much to Dave makes me happier than if I ended up with one of the X-Men!

Anyway, here's a link.

Overall, I was really impressed with the quality of the book, and anyone who doesn't have it should get one ASAP. Even if you already have the softcover.

Very cool! That's definitely an interesting character choice. So far I've seen 4 sketches from the lettered remarqued editions. Hopefully the other collectors will post theirs at some point.

Ted
