it's not exactly by choice...The best clay (magic sculp) I have only a small amount off, and I can't buy more. There's Milliput, in two sorts: a standard and a more expensive extra fine version. and then there's green stuff, which has a peculiar chewing gum like consistency; it's great for rolling out thin, but it doesn't stick well. But they are all epoxies, and they seem to work together well.

I'm with Hsu. He's going to have to beat me to Belgium to steal that! That's pretty sweet, Elwing. I should pop in here more often.
Have you ever worked with PC-7 or PC-11? They're two part heavy duty epoxys that seem to hold detail pretty well, and the workable time is about an hour. They cure overnight. They're both expensive, and I don't know whether or not the stores carry them where you are. I could never get the hang of working with epoxy, and I admire your ability to work with it.
LOVE IT!

Hobbit like quality? Interesting;) I like hobbits...
I had never heard of these stickfas, but they sure are posable. I guess they would form an exellent base for an conversion. Please try!
And as for the epoxy...I haven't heard of them, but I suspect they are similar to Milliput. But, I have tracked down somebody who sells Magic Sculp in Belgium, so it looks like my material problems are over!

Very cool, Elwing! I notice you dumped the left hand...
And the feet...do you know something I don't know?

the left hand fell off (oops) I'm planning to reattach it later on. I haven't seen the feet yet, so I don't know how to sculpt them. I'm waiting untill hollywood shows us some better pictures.

okay, here's the latest....
As you can see I have made a base from wood, clay and leaves made of brass. Also, I made a broken celtic cross from balsa with knotwork in clay relief (I like knotwork)
The feet are very rough right now, but getting there. The arms are done, but the coat still needs a lot of work...It's big and very heavy, and I'm doubtful if making casts is a possibility from economic point of view. They will be very expensive.
p.s. the yellow stuff on the pictures is tape keeping together the 7 different parts of the figure.

Okay, all of you artistically talented people SUCK! j/k That is really awesome....how long did it take you to do? Are you going to paint it or anything? And this has nothing to do with the topic, but I didn't realize you lived in Belgium! That's so cool! You speak French then, right? *excited* How fun!

Ah, oui...No, actually, I'm from Holland originally and live in the Dutch speaking (flemish) part of Belgium. My french is laughable, but if you need anything translated in Dutch I'm entirely your woman:D. And an awful lot of work has gone into the figure so far. I have been working on him for 3 months now...and it's far from finished. The problem is the epoxy compound, which takes a lot of time to harden, so you can't work on it continously.
I think the height of the whole thing is about 25 cm. the skeleton is a 1:5 scale, so that would make him about 35 cm standing up.

Oh wow! You are soooo talented Elwing (even though I already told you that in the chat room). Superb sculpture! I think the scars look just fine. I cannot wait to see the finished product. I looks fairly large to boot! :
