I was sitting and wondering...does Kurt have a middle name? I'm really curious. Anybody got any idea what it might be? :D

I don't think so; The only X-character I can remember having a middle name is Nocturne, or is Josephine part of her first name? Hm...

as in Star Trek's James "Tiberious" Kirk?
(that was his middle name wasnt it?)

anyway, maybe he just doesnt have a middle name, many people dont (although that would be cool if he did have one, maybe they will put it in "Draco" -doubt it, but that would be cool if Azzy gave him a middle name )

oh, while were on the subject of Kurts name & all, who did give him his name?
was it Margali or Azzy?
i figured since Mystique abandoned him before she gave him a name, it must be him or margali.
if it was her, how did she know about the Count Wagner (since its too much of a concidence that kurt and him have the same last name)?
am i making any sense here? :X

p.s. why the name Kurt (apart from it being a common german name)?

Kurt's Middle Name?

The name Kurt is a shorter form of the name Konrad. The first part of the name "Kon" from old german "kuoni" means bold, or daring. The second part "rad" comes from old german "râd", which means counsel or advice. I guess one can asume that the name Kurt refers to being clever , to be someone who can think of a plan.

By the way, I think I read somewhere that Kurts first name was inspired by the the politician Kurt Waldheim.

It may be a nickname that Konrads get, but is that really the origin of the name? Doesn't it come from Kurtis, from the same Old French root that gives us "courteous"?

Oh, and "Wagner" means "wagon-maker", while we're at it.

I looked it up in some baby books and Kurt is short for Konrad, and is also spelled as Curt. I think Kurt is German for "courteous" or "polite"

I read that to...it was posted here before the hack. And Wagner comes from the composer Richard Wagner :D..

He did Carmen, yes??

Many baby books are careless about etymology - not all names have flattering meanings, and Americans, at least, are fond of tacking on prefixes or borrowing foreign words and coming up with names that can't be said to mean anything. As far as I've seen, most baby name books - and websites - aim at sounding nice, not being accurate.

Also, nicknames associated with a first name aren't always shortened versions of that name - "Paco" for "Francisco", for example.
I think Kurt is German for "courteous" or "polite"
"Kurt" isn't German for anything. Polite/courteous is "höflich".

As of right now we don't know who actually named Kurt, but it's assumed Margali did when she found him as a baby with his dead father (or at least that's the story she told Kurt). As for the last name of Wagner, it's a good bet that Margali may have heard about the Countess Wagner (Mystique) giving birth to a blue baby with a tail and just put two and two together.

BTW, does anyone have the old "Kurt's Middle Name" thread saved anywhere? It was actually pretty informative.

I was wondering about how Kurt could possibly know about his father or his last name; good theory, Draco!

I looked the etymology for Kurt/ Konrad up in "Politikens Nudansk ordbog" ( Dictionary of modern Danish, Kurt is also a common name in Denmark). I am pretty sure that the etymology is correct. " Politiken" is one of the most well- reputed publishing house in Denmark. I belive that their dictionaries can be trusted.

By the way, another middel name character: Erik Magnus Lensherr.

Kurts middle name would be Horst, or Jürgen.

As someone told to me when I started this thread before the hacking, Kurt most likely doesn't have a middle name as with many other Germans.
