Ok. So opinions here? Nighty is in it...but man, I don't know what to think. The claremont stuff I've seen lately has been very...odd.

I'm not sure how I feel about it. Scotty Prime thinks it could be cool because he actually stopped reading X-Men in the early 90s and so he could pick this back up.
If this is makes it as a continuing series, it seems like it could be going down the crazy path of multiple alternate timelines. Just watch in 10 years Marvel will have to do an X-Crisis to consolodate them. ><

Okay....tell me if I'm wrong:
Rogue is in a coma, Kitty is in a bullet out in space, Storm has taken up housekeeping in Africa, and the Phoenix is dead. I'm not sure about the current states of Gambit and Beast, but isn't Sabertooth....well,....evil? Yet lo and behold they're all here together ready for a picnic. (And of course, Nightcrawler is again one of those in the background). Amazing.
I'm so confused.

That's just it. This series will pick up from 1991-2 when the adjectiveless X-Men book was launched. Claremont left the books not long after that, but in this series he'll just pick up where he left off 18 years ago.
"Written by Claremont and drawn by Tom Grummett, X-Men Forever allows Claremont to pick up where he left off...18 years ago—just minutes after the Children of the Atom believed they had destroyed Magneto once and for all."
So this is an alternate timeline.
Also, Rogue's not in a coma. She's currently in Australia.

Soooo.....it's a 'pick up where I left off because I can' series. But wasn't Nightcrawler in Excalibur in '91? (and I could also be wrong about this):?

Oops....sorry about that. I'm glad to hear she's doing well!:DAlso, Rogue's not in a coma. She's currently in Australia.

Yes, he was. But it could be that he and Kitty will join later? I dunno. Wait and see, I guess.Jeremus wrote:Soooo.....it's a 'pick up where I left off because I can' series. But wasn't Nightcrawler in Excalibur in '91? (and I could also be wrong about this):?
I predict lots of Storm, lots of Jean and lots of Kitty Pryde.

Fair's fair: Claremont does decent work in enclosed spaces away from main canon.
I'll go and enjoy this as long as it's readable.
Also, don't forget: Continuing after X-Men 3 means no priesthood, no Draco, no cat Beast, no giant space dildo. I see the perks. Also, Kitty's new outfit is hot.

From the looks of that cover... Wolverine isn't IN the Claremont-verse.

Indeed he was...but then, so was Kitty...and Lockheed...they didn't return to the fold until 1998...maybe Storm goes and picks 'em up?Soooo.....it's a 'pick up where I left off because I can' series. But wasn't Nightcrawler in Excalibur in '91? (and I could also be wrong about this):?
"Oh, dear...Logan won't work with Sabretooth, who just must be on my team for reasons unknown...I need some team members whom I fully understand and I can fully trust to not turn on me if a better offer or government research grant comes along and won't possibly go totally insane and try to destroy the universe...again. I know...I'll go grab the girl sidekick and the sexy blue one from England. I'm sure they won't mind taking a subordinate role to get away from that dreadful weather."

Wow....they looks almost like normal looking x-men. I wonder if their adventures will be as good as what I can remember from my youth.

I really hope so. They do resemble a more classic X-Men...
And as far as the weird Nambit guy, I'm not even sure it's him. I think it is, but maybe Claremont is trying to pull a dick move or something...

I'm excited for this. Might actually go out and buy a Marvel comic.
I'm just wondering if Claremont will swan-dive it like all the others? But I'm still looking forward to seeing that happen anyways, so regardless, w00t! Kurt on Front cover and not on said cover as background noise during epic 20-member battle!!

I can only hope Kurt's role is significant enough. I have to say, I'm tiring of all this Wolverine stuff. I mean, there's only *so much* you can do! I'll keep my hopes up though!

Considering our options.....if Kurt actually DOES quit the X-men, this might be the only X-title he's in at all.

Oh yeah, this isn't Nambit. This is a different guy, and that's fine. This picture looks ok by me. The nambit was exiles and OMG was it painful.Bamfing_Bob wrote:I really hope so. They do resemble a more classic X-Men...

Still, this is the first one I'm considering. I'm gonna go look it over in the shop when it comes out . I buy enough to earn a few flip throughs. LOL

You know what I like about this picture and these x-men? They're going back to those stylish costumes that doesn't need practicality. It's back to the good days where the costumes are nice to look at and not just streamlined unstable molecule suits with matching leather jackets. I mean, look at those high heel thigh length boots! Stylish yes, but not something you would want to wear in the middle of a battle. Now that's good comic book sense. Just look, their color palette has more then three hues in the comic, they're using vibrant strong colours that catch the eyes, not some realistic style look. I just hope the actual comics would stay with what the picture shows.

Nah, can't be Nambit, can it? I doubt if they would drop the whole Namor and blonde look, would they?

I was wondering that myself...I think it's an Claremontish Exiles hybrid of Namor and Gambit...or maybe their impossible to explain love child...dunno how he's blond though...neither Namor or Gambit are...I think we should be afraid of it...very, very afraid
