Investigation

<@Maggott> Japh rubbed his eyes. He was sitting in front of one of the computers in the Investigations Room, and going through some of the dirt the team was able to get on all the known doctors that specialised in mutations. They even had a folder with some of Dr. McCoy's details. That made him a little uneasy.

<Sage> Tessa sighed at the data on-screen, tapping the keyboard with one hand and pressing on her eyelids with the other. While she waited for the next folder to come up she rolled her head around and heard the vertebrae in her neck crackle like rice cereal. "Wonderful way to spend a Tuesday, isn't this?"

<@Maggott> Japh winced when he heard Snap, Crackle and Pop joining them. "Yeah, just wonderful. How are you getting along with your group? At the moment, I pretty much doubt if anyone from Muir Island has anything to do with this."

<@Maggott> "I should have gone through with Angel's old investigation files long ago. God, I can' believe I forgot about her kidnapping."

<Sage> Tess gestured with the soda bottle that had just left her mouth. "Vic would've tied Rahne to a bed if he thought Muir Island was in on this. As for Angel's files, you are--figuratively speaking--only human." She whacked out a command that wasn't cooperating onto the keyboard. "I think I might have something in this group, though. Equipment trafficking for this guy Essex is through the roof."

<@Maggott> Japh pushed his chair back so that he wheeled up next to hers and checked her screen. "Jeez, since when does a research lab need so much stuff?" Japh moved back to his computer and checked a file.

<@Maggott> "Essex, Essex, here we go. Yeah, thought I remembered that name. It's one of the people McCoy mentioned. Said he would be very experimental. As in very experimental with his research. Can you try and get something on his lab? Like the location?"

<Sage> She shot Japh a flat look. "Why do I tolerate these small insults?" She typed in a few manual commands and hit enter, waiting for it to come up. "Omaha, Nebraska. Might explain why the pictures on milk cartons didn't work...and the blueprints are on screeen three." She pointed absently with the hand that wasn't pushing the screen towards Japh.

<@Maggott> Japh smirked. "Thanks. Wow, big place. Heh, industrial area...always imagined a research lab to be like in the middle of nowhere. I think we may have the right place, can we get more information on Essex or his laboratory?" He had a good feeling about this. It had to be him.

<Sage> "Give me a minute." Tessa typed rapidly on the computer, eyes flickering over the windows that popped up like daisies. "I have the orders for tranqs, darts, guns..." She tilted her head at the page. "Cages for animal transport, and all manner of crap a research facility has absolutely no need of."

<Sage> She stared at the inventory sheets for deliveries. "Shit, they only use these things in DNA labs. What does a researcher need with that much tranquilizer?" Tessa looked over to Japh with a worried expression.

<@Maggott> Japh checked on the screen with the building's information. "Okay, that's just weird, there's no mention of actual animal cages, or anything to do with animals on the schematics. Hell, this is like in the city, there's no way they have places outside of the building to keep the animals." Japh looked back at Tess. "I have a feeling they're not doing research using animals."

<@Maggott> Japh stood up, "I have to tell Forge about this. And the other team leaders. Tessa, I'll need you to get as much stuff you can on Essex, and if you think you're done, get all the information you can on the building's security and the items they ordered."

<Sage> "Aye aye, captain." Tessa deadpanned. She rolled her shoulders and began to follow the paper trail back the the facility in Nebraska, her brows coming closer and closer together as she found more orders for things a research lab would definitely not need. She sighed as her eyes wanted to unfocus.

<Gambit> He pressed a button on his headset to talk to base. "We're goin' east from here, oui? Dey encounterin' any resistance yet?"

<Polaris> Lorna adjusted her headset for about the fifteenth time and pressed the button. "Give me the word when the security's down. We're ready when you are."

<@Maggott> Japh checked something on the screen before answering Remy. "No resistance yet. They are in place, waiting on your team."

<@Maggott> Japh, sat in silence, waiting for the infiltration team to get back. Every couple of seconds he did a small, 'please be careful', prayer. "You okay?" He asked Tessa.

<Sage> "Honestly? No." She leaned back in the chair. "This is starting to look like the rats of NIMH, this facility." She pointed to a series of dots that blinked when she highlighted them. "This building has an incredible drain on the power grid."

<@Maggott> Japh nodded. Then his attention popped to what she said. "NIMH? Where'd I hear that before?"

<Sage> "National Institute of Mental Health, specialty clinic." She rattled it off, sounding like she'd swallowed an encyclopedia. "I get the feeling our six missing classmates are acting the parts of the rats. Hopefully we're acting as Nicodemus today." She set her head on her palms.

<@Maggott> Japh listened to her while he went through the building schematics. "Is it a book or a movie?" he asked. What's taking Remy so long?

<Gambit> He thumbed his com again. "Perimeter security is out. Dey are free t' move in."

<Polaris> Lorna touched the button on her headset. "Guard saw us. We're going in."

<@Maggott> Japh almost laughed at the coincidence of the radio calls. If it weren't so bad. "Roger that, Gambit"

<Sage> Tess moved over to Japh's side, pointing to sections on the blueprints. "Everything's in such close quarters. There's no room to move in there. Tell them to watch out."

<@Maggott> He switched over to Combat team, "Polaris, be advised that the doors are unlocked. Very little room for movement once inside. Infiltration team should be pulling out any moment."

<Polaris> "Doors area already sort of ripped off their hinges, Maggott. I see it though." Lorna flew in, pulling the first few guards off of their feet.

<Sage> Tessa went back to her own computer and pulled up the building's substructure. "Walls are reinforced. Probably steel under the drywall." She spoke in short sentences, still digging up what she could on Essex. The guy had quite the history of being nuts.

<@Maggott> It was almost excrutiating as the two of them waited for any radio contact. Only thing making any ambient noise were the computers. "This silence is killing me."

<@Maggott> Japh made the connection to the combat team, "Polaris, what's your status?"

<Polaris> "I think we're fucked." Lorna's voice came over, the nervousness finally creeping in, and then the harpoon shot could be heard above her and Bobby.

<@Maggott> Japh got real worried after that reply. "Polaris, where are you?" it was silent. "Fuck!" and he tired again over and over. "Polaris, status! Polaris!" Japh sat back in his seat. "Shit, I can't get Lorna back on." he told Tessa.

<@Maggott> Japh finally made a choice. It was difficult. "Combat team. Pull back. Mission is a failure. I repeat, pull back. Psylocke, you're team leader."

<Psylocke> "He thinks he's back in the wilderness!" Shaking a little, she pressed the button on her comm. "Roger that Maggott, I'll get them out and have the jet fired."

<@Maggott> Japh rubbed his forehead. Now for the infiltration team. God, everything's going to hell in a handbasket.

<Psylocke> Switching her comm back on she cleared her throat. "I'm with Freakshow, Sabes and Rogue, heading back to the jet, we'll be there in threeminutes. What's the status of the other team?"

<@Maggott> Japh pressed the radio button. "Infiltration, be advised, mission aborted. Combat is pulling back. I repeat. Mission is aborted and Combat is pulling back."

<@Maggott> Japh then switched back to the combat team. "Psylocke. Infiltration has been informed on mission status. Waiting for their reply."

<Psylocke> "We're nearly out now, I'll have the jet ready to go," she answered, giving Vic a greatful smile over her shoulder.

<Sage> "What the hell is this?" Tess shifted to the monitor with the GPS tracks for the coms and couldn't find Lorna's. "I can't get her on my headset or on the GPS, Japh." She hurriedly commanded the other teams to light. "More coms are going static."

<Gambit> He knew. He’d heard it all over his com. It had all factored into his choice, after all. He lifted his hand to the button one last time. “Evacuate. Repeat. Get y’ asses outta here now.” He removed the earpiece and dropped it on the floor, crushing it under his boot.

<Mercury> "Understood," Cessily eventually answered over her radio, frustration clearly audible in her voice. "We're reuniting with Gambit and will then withdraw."

<Sage> "Goddamnit!" Tessa yanked the earpiece out and slapped her hands over her ears, as they echoed with the sound of a static spike. "We lost Gambit, his com is down." The noise radiated to behind her eyes and made her feel sick.

<@Maggott> Japh winced at the sound that was made on the radio. He checked at the monitor Tessa was looking at for the GPS tracks. Lorna....Bobby...and now Gambit too.

<@Maggott> Japh hit the radio button for the infiltration team, "Mercury, we're losing people. Gambit's comlink is off. I want your sweet silver ass out of there!"

<Mercury> "What? No...." Cessily closed her eyes for a second, then punched the wall of the vent. "Okay... we're... on our way."

<Sage> She felt like she couldn't breathe. She tried swallowing a dozen times before she lurched out of the chair and stood shakily. "I have to get out of here." She felt hot and cold in cycles and managed to wobble to the wall, reaching out a hand that didn't quite extend before she crumpled.

<Psylocke> "Mag? You got an update for us?" Lizzie breathed shakily into the comm, her finger on the button trembling. "When are we expecting the infiltration teamback here?"

<@Maggott> He almost gave a sigh of relief when he heard Cess' voice, but stopped when he saw Tessa. "Tessa!" he lunged for her, catching her before she hit the floor. Then came Lizzie. Not now, not now.

<@Maggott> He laid Tessa down carefully, ignoring the radio for the moment, and doing what he could remember from Medical Team for seizures, which wasn't much.

<Sage> Somewhere dim in the back of her mind Tessa heard Japh talking and yell something, but by the time the convulsions hit she was blacked out completely, not registering her shirt collar being torn open, buttons plinking on the floor.

<@Maggott> When she stopped shaking he turned her on her side. After making sure she seemed comfortable enough he grabbed the phone and dialed for the infirmary, telling Annie that Tessa needed help.

<@Maggott> Japh glanced at the monitor for the GPS. He grabbed the radio. "Psylocke, be advised that Gambit and Phoenix is will not be joining you. Infiltration team will be there shortly."

<Psylocke> "Understood, Maggot..." Lizzie swallowed hard and turned around, walking back to the pilots seat, dazed.

<@Maggott> Japh didn't even register what the radio said. He just went over to Tessa and sat next to her.

Infiltration

Post by JSherlock »

Gambit: Gambit wiggled down a connecting piece of vent. "Try an' watch dis part. It ain' reinforced as good. All we need is t' make a racket t' alert everyone down dere."

ShadowCat: Kitty followed quietly like she'd been taught. She was glad Cessily and Rachel were here this time. "Think this is rigged with sensors?"

Mercury: Gambit: "Not dis part. Maybe farther in though. But y' don' need sensors if d' metal is poppin'." He pressed a button on his headset to talk to base. "We're goin' east from here, oui? Dey encounterin' any resistance yet?"

Mercury: "No problem." Mercury reached out across the loose part, stretching her arms, then pulled the rest of her body along in a liquid state. "I hope they don't have metal detectors here."
Infiltration:

Gambit: He snorted. "Don' think dere expectin' metal t' break in, petite."

Polaris: Lorna adjusted her headset for about the fifteenth time and pressed the button. "Give me the word when the security's down. We're ready when you are."

ShadowCat: She stifled a giggle, and kept a sharp eye out to not knock into the side of the vent by accident.

Mercury: "Well, certainly not metal people." She looked around at the others with her, making sure that everyone kept up. It was strange, she had been nervous all the way to this place, but that feeling vanished the moment they had touched down and entered the air vent.

Maggott: Japh checked something on the screen before answering Remy. "No resistance yet. They are in place, waiting on your team."

Gambit: "Right. Alright den. Dis should be it." He peered through the vent into the small dark room where the outer fence and defences were manned out of. "Let's do dis people. Shadowcat, y' first. Drop y're head through t, an' we'll follow"

Gambit: *Head through t' double check, an' we'll follow

Mercury: Her mind had been filled with all the things that possible could go wrong, but now had been replaced with the routines they had trained again and again. And the excitement of possibly seeing their friends again soon. Please, let them all be all right. Please... She banished the thought and stopped behind Gambit.

ShadowCat: She nodded and slithered past Remy and inspected the vent. Taking out a small pack of tools, she disarmed the sensor like an old hand and peeked into the room. It was empty - lights were off - though there was light coming from the crack under the door. She dropped silently down and moved to check on the door.

Gambit: "Right." He popped the cover off the vent and dropped through, landing silently. "Mercury, Phoenix, y' next."

Gambit: He crossed to the panel, and ticked through the list of things. "Shadowcat, y' take out d' cameras. Phoenix, d' ground sensors. Mercury - y' get d' doors. Need dem disarmed an' popped."

Mercury: Cessily gave a quick nod. She didn't bother to crawl behind Kitty, but instead turned to liquid and carefully slithered out of the duct, silently dropping down to the floor, then quickly flowed over to the door, where she reformed.

Mercury: She had to think again of how practical it was to actually be able to bring your equipment inside your own body. Cessily held her hand to the underside of the door and let a tiny tendril of her body peek underneath it. "Everything clear. There's no one on the other side. We shouldn't be disturbed."

Gambit: "Great." He looked around at them. "C'mon guys. We got t' keep dis movin'. We want our team in an' goin' so we can get outta here an' have time t' hit d' drive through before we go home, neh?" He kept things light to help with their nervousness."

ShadowCat: "Ok. Mercury." She peeked into the hall - the camera was mounted almost opposite, and she drew back. "Cameras make a sweep and there's one of those round mirrors at the end of the hall."

Gambit: "Good. Take down d' outer stuff first. We need combat free t' strike."

phoenix: Rachel let out a breath and chewed on her lip as she took down the sensors like Remy had instructed. She quickly scanned the area for guards with her telepathy, "I don't sense anyone, at the moment."

ShadowCat: She looked again. "Ok. See you on the other side." Kitty went through the door and climbed the air so she could reach the camera from below. Hopefully the mirror in the corner didn't have the another camera down that hall pointed at her...she wished when she phased that she would go invisible.

Mercury: "Okay." Cessily stood up and looked around "Oh, there!" She pointed at the wall. "There's a plan of this floor." She stepped over and had a look. "There are the front doors. I'll handle hem, then return immediately." After memorizing the way, she turned to liquid and started to move. No need to bother with arms and legs now.

Gambit: He took the panel with some other circuitry, piecing through it so the secondary systems wouldn't boot up.

Mercury: She waited for Kitty to disable the camera on the other side of the door, then slid beneath the door, turned into a spherical form and quickly rolled down the corridor towards the front doors. After taking a moment to inspect everything, she got to work, first dealing with the panel at the wall that contained the alarm systems and electronic locks of the doors.

Mercury: Okay, nothing too complicated. She had seen this setup during training. Two minutes later, the alarms were disabled and the electronic locks opened. Now for the simple mechanical lock on the door itself. Cessily moved a liquid arm between the gaps and effortlessly moved the mechanism out of the way. The door sprang open. With a satisfied smirk, she headed back to the others.

Mercury: "Everything clear on my part." She gave Remy a nod. "The door is open, alarm taken out."

Gambit: "Good job." He gave her a smile. "Remind me t' give y' a chocolate bar when we get back."

phoenix: She was so going to have a migraine tomorrow, but it was worth it. Keeping alert with her telepathy was weird since she didn't really use it, and Rachel was suddently glad for all the lessons with Lizzie. "Done," she said as she finished up.

ShadowCat: Kitty came back a bit breathless. "Like, nobody's around - it must be downtime or something. All the cameras in the halls to both sides and front of this room are taken out. I also unscrewed the mirrors and phased them through the walls so they can't look around corners. I also took out the cameras at the front doors. There was a panel thingie hooked up to outside security. I fooled the cameras there to see nothing by repeating some frames - but I managed to get the time stamp to continue."

Mercury: "How about a ice cream for everyone?" Cessily returned the smile. "With our friends, when we have them back."

Gambit: "Of course." He thumbed his com again. "Perimeter security is out. Dey are free t' move in."

Polaris: Polaris> Lorna touched the button on her headset. "Guard saw us. We're going in."

Gambit: "Well merde. Dat's timin'." He said grimly. "Hopefully dey take dem out before he can radio in."

Maggott: Japh almost laughed at the coincidence of the radio calls. If it weren't so bad. "Roger that, Gambit"

Mercury: "Awesome job, girls." Cessily grinned at the others. "All right, what about us? Do we move ahead?" She frowned. "They have been spotted? Darn..." She hoped all their work hadn't been in vain.

Gambit: "Alright. Dis is it den. Y' guys need t' get farther in, an' get d' interior security all d' way down so dey can make it t' d' cells. I'm splittin' off t' go t' get d' records."

Gambit: "Mercury. Y' know y're job. Everyone keep safe. I'll see y' all in a jiffy." He winked and hopped, catching the edge of the vent.

ShadowCat: "Oh no! I hope they're okay...ok, Gambit. Be careful."

Mercury: "Understood." Cessily nodded and started moving. "Don't worry, we'll take care of ourselves. So you still think that going all by yourself is such a great idea? Just wanting to make sure."

Gambit: He looked down from where he was dangling. "Oh oui, petite. Dis job is a one person sorta thing - two jus' ups d' risk. Its jus' paper. Y' girls got d' important job - gettin' it so d' team can get all dem out."

Mercury: "All right. Take care." Cessily gave him a grin. "See you in a bit." Turning around, she stepped to the other door and waved at Rachel and Kitty. "Okay, let's get going then."

Gambit: He heaved himself up over the edge and started to wiggle down the vents.

ShadowCat: "Who takes point, Mercury?"

phoenix: Rachel frowned and tried to shove down some of the aniexty she was feeling as she listened to Cess. She really just wanted this to be over.

Mercury: "Phoenix, you can use your telepathy to stay in contact with the others." She looked at Kitty. "I'll scout ahead. Sadly, I can't communicate telepathically with you, so sign language will have to suffice. I memorized the floor plan, so we should be headed this way." She pointed down the corridor.

Mercury: "In case we're meeting guards, it would be best if Phoenix dealt with them telepathically. Shadowcat, you can take out all electronic security devices."

phoenix: "Got it," she said. <Hear me?> Keep telepathic link up and cover them. She
could do that.

ShadowCat: "Ok." She nodded emphatically. <Loud and Clear, Phoenix.> "Let's go."

Mercury: Cessily turned back into her fully liquid state and moved up the wall to the ceiling. "I hope that the cameras are monitoring the floors, not the ceiling. Same goes for all sensors we might have missed." She started slithering down the corridor.

ShadowCat: "The cameras have a full view of everything. But people least expect something on the ceiling."

Mercury: "Yeah, true. Just let's be careful then." She moved down to the next intersection and used a single tendril to peek around the corners, then formed a hand and gestured at Kitty and Rae that all was clear.

phoenix: <Cool.> She crept down the hall, eyes flicking between Cess and the rest of the corridor.

ShadowCat: Kitty snuck forward. "I got the cameras here but not in the other hall," she said pointing to a mirror. She peeked through a door. "Bathroom." She went forward again, and slid around the corner, nearly running into a lab tech. They stared at one another in shock for a second.

Mercury: She pointed at a door by the end of another corridor. "If I remember correctly, the room for the internal security is at the end of the corridor behind this door. I'm certain that there will be cameras and guards around there." Cessily looked back to see Rachel - and Kitty, who seemed to have frozen in place.

ShadowCat: "Hello," she said pleasantly. He reached for his pocket, and she knocked him out, and dragged him back. "Lock him in the bathroom."

phoenix: Shit. Rachel took a breath and focused on the lab tech, making it so he couldn't see Kitty or her.

ShadowCat: "Can you fiddle with his memory, Phoenix?"

Mercury: "Wow, that was close." Cessily dropped from the ceiling and stepped over to Kitty to help her drag the tech. "We should restrain him." She pulled a pair of plastic handcuffs out of her equipment bag.

ShadowCat: "And gag him."

phoenix: "Yeah, he won't be remembering this..."

ShadowCat: "Make him think it was a prank by his co-workers, and let's go. We need to get moving."

Mercury: "Agreed." Cessily nodded and shut the bathroom door behind the tech, then hasted back to the intersection. "Okay, down there, through that door, past the security and into the room by the left. That's how I remember the plan."

Mercury: "Undoubtedly, there will be a few guards there." After making sure the path was clear, Cessily paced down the corridor and stopped in front of the down.

phoenix: She quickly erased the memory and followed the other two. "I can make sure they don't see us."

ShadowCat: "Ok." Kitty went to the camera and disconnected it, pushing the mirror above it into the wall. "Sweet, Phoenix!"

Mercury: Poking a finger through below the door, she looked at the corridor behind. "Okay, that's great, Phoenix. I think that's all of the cameras here. I can't spot anything on the other side."

ShadowCat: "Ok." Kitty picked the lock and opened the door. "After you, Mercury."

Mercury: "Thanks. So, let's get this done." She pushed the door open and moved across the corridor on the other side, then stopped in front of the door to the security room. She turned around and waited for the others, then nodded at Rachel. "Let's hope this works," she whispered, then carefully opened the door.

ShadowCat: Kitty looked around as the sound of a distant crash roared around them. "What was that?"

Mercury: She froze in place. Darn! Hopefully the guards weren't alerted by this.

phoenix: Rachel caught Cess' nod and made them appear invisible, almost losing focus at the crash. "Dunno, but let's hurry. I'm not sure how long I can hold this."

Mercury: "Yes, no time to lose now." She stood up and pushed the door open, entering the security room. After a moment of hesitation, she noticed that all the guards had a blank look on their faces and she gave Rachel the thumbs up. "Great work."

ShadowCat: Kitty gently phased the guards out of the room, and pulled out a disc out of pocket, uploading the virus on it to the computers. "That should keep them busy for a while!"

ShadowCat: "That should clear a path - it'll systematically takeout all the security systems. I hope."

Mercury: "Excellent." Cessily gave Kitty a smile. "So all they have to do is find the holding cells now." She let out a sigh. "Let's hope they got over with this quickly."

phoenix: "Awesome," she gave a small grin.

ShadowCat: She went over to the door and looked out. Down the hall there was a guy who looked like he was covered in bright yellow snake scales and another who looked normal until he walked under direct fluorescent light whereupon he looked like a picture's negative. "Mercury!" She hissed, as she saw two more people behind them - holding what looked like guns.

Maggott: Japh pressed the radio button. "Infiltration, be advised, mission aborted. Combat is pulling back. I repeat. Mission is aborted and Combat is pulling back."

Mercury: "Who is this?" Cessily stepped over to Kitty and followed her gaze. Then she was interrupted by Japh's voice in her radio. "Oh, darn!"

phoenix: "Shit. So, what do we do, Mercury? They still can't see us..."

ShadowCat: "What is it, Mercury?"

Mercury: "Combat had to withdraw and the mission is aborted." She quickly glanced at the other two, then down at the techs and the strangers. "They're pulling out. We're on our own. We have to get out of here."

ShadowCat: "What?! Did they get everyone?"

Gambit: He knew. He’d heard it all over his com. It had all factored into his choice, after all. He lifted his hand to the button one last time. Evacuate. Repeat. Get y asses outta here now. He removed the earpiece and dropped it on the floor, crushing it under his boot.

Mercury: "Understood," Cessily eventually answered over her radio, frustration clearly audible in her voice. "We're reuniting with Gambit and will then withdraw."

ShadowCat: Don't panic, girl! "Ok. Look - let's get those guys, find Remy and get out."

Mercury: "I don't know if they got everyone, but we can't wait to find out." Cessily pondered a moment, then nodded. "Agreed. We take those two with us."

ShadowCat: Kitty nodded and leaped into action, taking out people who didn't know she was there was absurdly easy. She smiled at the guys when Rachel dropped her camouflage mind trick. "Relax. We're here to rescue you."

phoenix: Rachel let out a breath. So much easier to think now that she didn't have to keep that up.

Mercury: Cessily was right behind Kitty, gently dropping the two techs to the floor and fixing them with plastic handcuffs. "We have to hurry." She forced a smile at the two other people who had been led by the techs. "No worries, we'll bring you out of here."

phoenix: "Should I erase their memory?" she nodded to the lab techs.

Mercury: "No need to worry about Gambit," she told the others, "We'll meet him at the exit. Now let's get moving."

ShadowCat: She studied the collars around their necks, and phased them off but held onto them as they ran.

phoenix: She took care of the memories and followed the Cess, Kitty, and the other two.

Mercury: "Phoenix, can you watch our backs? And make sure that no one that follows us can see us?" Cessily hurried alongside Kitty, pushing one the captives along with her.

ShadowCat: Kitty got a good hold on everyone and phased them through walls, still running, taking the shortest route. She helped the two guys into the vent and told them to crawl to the end and run for the jet.

Mercury: "Darn, darn, darn... I don't think they got to the others," Cessily muttered, helping the other one up into the vent. "It sounded as if they were in really serious trouble."

phoenix: "Sure. No problem." Rachel trailed behind the group and got the illusion back up, checking over her shoulder as they helped the people into the vent.

ShadowCat: "Oh no!" Kitty hoisted herself up and held out a hand for Cessily, then for Rachel.

Maggott: Japh hit the radio button for the infiltration team, "Mercury, we're losing people. Gambit's comlink is off. I want your sweet silver ass out of there!"

Mercury: "We need to get these two out." She looked hastily around. "Gambit should be here in a bit, too." She slithered up into the vent and pushed the captive in front of her forward. "Come on, we need to move."

ShadowCat: Kitty followed Cessily quickly, after making sure Rachel was in the vent behind her.

Mercury: "What? No...." Cessily closed her eyes for a second, then punched the wall of the vent. "Okay... we're... on our way."

phoenix: Rachel followed them into the air duct, still covering their backs.

Mercury: "They lost contact with Gambit," she informed the others with an emotionless voice as they crawled down the vent.

ShadowCat: "Oh my god." Kitty paused, but kept going.
Mercury: "We'll get him. We'll get all of them. All we have to do is get those two to the jet. Then we'll regroup and safe the others." Cessily bit her lip. "Just a few more minutes, and everyone will be safe. No worries."

Phoenix: "Damn..." she trailed off as the air duct shuddered and gave out from under her. She reached out for the edge of the vent, cursing when she missed it. I'm so screwed.

ShadowCat: Kitty turned back and screamed, "Rachel!"

Mercury: "Rae!" Cessily yelled, forgetting to use the code name for a moment.

ShadowCat: Kitty scrambled back but couldn't see anything through the dust. She could hear her cursing - and someone else. "Cessily, we gotta go get her!"

Mercury: Cessily rushed back and looked down the vent. There was lots of dust, but she could make out two shadows moving below. "Rae!" Then several fast moving things hit the vent, and something smacked into her arms and shoulders. "Oh damn!"

ShadowCat: Kitty pulled her back. "I can phase down, grab her and phase back up."

Mercury: She looked over her shoulders as another dart hit her neck. "No, it’s too risky." She grabbed Kitty's arm. "If they took out Combat, then they have ways to deal with our powers. We...we need to get those two out first."

Mercury: Cessily stared back down. She thought she could make out Rae's form somewhere down there. "We come back, Kit. We get the others and will be back in a minute."

ShadowCat: Kitty looked at the two guys, at Cessily, then back down the vent. A dart whistled past her cheek. "Fuck! We'll come back for you, Rachel! I promise!" She pushed the two guys to move ahead of her, roughly brushing tears from her eyes. These bastards would pay.

Mercury: Cessily glanced back one last time, biting her lip hard, then turned around and followed Kitty. She felt as if a tear wanted to form in her eye, but fought it back. No need to cry, no reason to. They'd be back in just a minute or two, then get Remy and Rachel and all the others out. It would be all right.

Polaris: Lorna adjusted her headset for about the fifteenth time and pressed the button. "Give me the word when the security's down. We're ready when you are."

Iceman: Bobby didn't see anything but a building yet, but then he could only see body heat, not necessarily the heat from a small camera or trip mechanism. He looked over at Lorna and gave her a smile, then at Vic.

Sabretooth: Vic shivered as his tail whipped. He caught Bobby's glance and gave him a grin. "Y' alrigh'?" He murmured quietly.

Polaris: "Anyone see any sign of anything let us know." Lorna addressed the rest of the team as she looked it over herself, not seeing anything out of the ordinary just yet.

Iceman: "Yeah." He looked around again as ordered, then edged to Vic. "Hey, man, can I ask you a favor?"

Psylocke: Lizzie attempted a scan of the building. Fuzzy. But that wasn't surprising, really, all things considered. She opened her eyes and her aura flickered away. "Well it's inhabited. I can't get a lock on how many though..."

Sabretooth: "Sure." Vic nodded. "Anythin', mate."

Rogue: Rogue looked over the area and let her eyes stop occasionally to search the shadows. She took in a quiet breath, she hoped they were right about this.

Freakshow: He nearly strained his eyes to find anything unexpected, with contantly changing eyes and ears, but Alex didn't find anything. Just..."There are many people in there...uhm, how many did we expect?," he asked Lorna.

Iceman: He licked his lips, watching Lorna. "If anything happens to me." He paused. "I mean, we know you'll get out. Make sure Lorna goes home with you, man. Please?"

Polaris: Lorna nodded. "We'll be going in through the main doors then. No need to beat around the bush. I'll rip them off and the heavier hitters go in first." Lorna turned to Alex to answer the question. "Probably a pretty good staff of people to run the place and the mutants who captured the others. Don't know about anyone else."

Sabretooth: Vic smiled at Bobby. "Sure thing, mate. But y'll be gettin' outta this. We've done harder'n this in the DR." He caught what Lorna said. "...An' by 'heavy hitters' y' mean me, righ'?"

Freakshow: "Oh man, this is crap..." He didn't really want to fight, just get Meggan back. The first thoughts had been about showing them not to mess with his girl, but now Alex would peobably just run around until finding her...

Polaris: "Yeah, you and Freakshow up front to give cover for people who take a bit more time to get their powers together." Lorna nodded, feeling her hands start to tingle with nerves but keeping it out of her voice.

Psylocke: Heavier hitters. That would be everyone but her, Lizzie thought with a small smirk. "It seems quite...There are a fair number of people in there..." sighing, she pinched the bridge of her nose. "It's just not knowing how many."

Rogue: Rogue turned to catch Lorna's answer to Vic, "So when do Ah go in?"

Iceman: "Sure, I mean... of course," and he probably would, buuut. "Thanks. Guess it's about showtime, then." Bobby shifted to ice, adjusting his headset.

Polaris: "Rogue I'd like as a back guard until we're well in there. They might come in behind us and I'm sure you can take care of that quite well."

Sabretooth: Vic's tail whipped slightly as he felt his heartrate pick up - and everyone elses too. He absently thumbed the ring on his finger and stretched, cracking his knuckles. "Anytime, man. I'll get y' both ou'."

Freakshow: Alex rubbed his ear. This button felt really weird, but hell, you can't wear a headset if you change size like others their underwear. "Hey Vic, no worries, I'll have your back." He gave the cat-man a thumbs up.

Sabretooth: Vic grinned at Alex. The kid smelt nervous. "Same back, mate." He returned the thumbs up. At least he healed....

Rogue: She nodded, "Yeah, Ah can do that. Y'all be careful in front."

Psylocke: Looking towards the building, she felt a sick feeling settle in her stomach; she couldn't feel Warren's mind...Being so close now, even with whatever filters they had against psychics, she should have felt him...Playing with her headset, she tried to focus on just getting in.

Iceman: Bobby smiled tightly at Vic. "So, where do you want me, ba - Polaris." He knew where he wanted to be, but that might not be the best.

Polaris: "Iceman will take one of the flanks and Psylocke the other. If I don't have time to shield then you throw an ice wall up. Other than that fight away."

Polaris: "I don't expect that we'll be able to keep a formation throughout but try to stay as close as you can and keep an eye out for each other."

Psylocke: "Right. And I'll psycho anyone else."

Sabretooth: "Luckily I don' need shieldin'." Vic muttered, smiling slightly as he slid his claws in and out out of nervousness. Why couldn't they start already? He hated waiting.

Iceman: Bobby nodded, tapping at his headset. The thing was staticy. "Well, Liz, this should be fun. We shouldda brought our dice."

Polaris: "God, don't say that after the way I've been rolling recently."

Rogue: Rogue said a small prayer under her breath for the guys in the Infiltration team.

Psylocke: "We should. You know, I wonder if I could charge them with psychic energy and toss them..."she mused. "My bolts do do a degree of physical damage after all...And I could use a spot check around about now anyway."

Freakshow: "So, I was wondering..." His heart's rythm more resembled a set of congas now, than anything else, talking was as good as anything else to make him feel less edgy. "Do we have any infomration at all where to go when we're in?"

Iceman: "Heh. Like Remy's cards, only with geek power mind die of doom."

Polaris: "Gambit will report in once he's able and Maggott will let us know where to go from there."

Psylocke: "Well...I've been experimenting with how I form my psi energy so...Anything is possible. I shaped a sword the other day in training."

Rogue: Rogue snickered at Bobby's comment, "Nice one, uh... Iceman." Rogue grinned, that felt silly to say, but she'd have to get used to it.

Sabretooth: "Cardboy'll let us know, prob'ly." Vic smiled at Alex. Poor guy had a girlfriend in there. He remembered how he'd been when Rahne was still in Black Air. He hissed between his fangs.

Rogue: Rogue put a hand on Vic's shoulder, "Ya alright, sugah?"

Iceman: Bobby looked at Lizzie. "A sword? Like Shiro?"

Psylocke: Lizzie looked back to the building, staring intently and still...Nothing...

Freakshow: "Heh, Iceman...heh. Maybe we should've shown up in a icecream truck?" Doh, great joke...

Polaris: Lorna swallowed a sigh as well as the desire to hover. God waiting was worse than the actual fighting.

Psylocke: "Hmm?"she turned to Bobby. "Kind of. I couldn't make it last more than a minute though."

Sabretooth: Vic looked quickly at Rogue and gave her a tight smile. "Yeah, yeah. Jus' a li'l psyched is all. Y'?"

Polaris: Lorna smiled at the ice cream comment though. "At least we would have some snacks."

Rogue: She nodded, "Anxious ta get it done. Ah want 'em home."

Iceman: "Good one, Alex," he smiled slightly, unable to completely rake him for that one. He was here to get Meggan. "Snacks would be good."

Psylocke: Poor Alex...She knew what he was feeling. Reaching over, she gave him something of a pat. "We'll get them..."

Sabretooth: Vic smiled at Rogue. "Yeah. I wanna go visit Rahney as soon as this is over. Jus'....fuckit. I hate waitin'."

Polaris: "Waiting is bad but I'm damned glad they've not sent out a welcoming comittee." Lorna resisted pressing her headset button again. Remy would let her know, no need to bother him.

Freakshow: The answer to that waas a friendly nod. "Yeah, thanks." A bit of a forced smile came up on his face. "I'll look out for Warren."

Rogue: Rogue gave Vic a grin, "Patience is a virtue. Or so Ah've been told."

Psylocke: God...They'd better get them. She couldn't stand another day without Warren. Taking a deep breath, she went back to trying to search for them, her eyes closed.

Psylocke: She opened them again, returning a forced smile. "And I'll look out for Meggie..."

Sabretooth: "Well, I ain' really tha' virtuous, in case y' forgot, doll." Vic winked at Rogue with a grin.
Polaris: "Fuck." Lorna heard something and she was pretty sure it was on her side of the headset. "Look sharp people. I think I hear something."

Rogue: "How could Ah f'get, sugah?" She winked back and gave him a small, careful, hug around the shoulders.

Sabretooth: Vic returned the hug, then smiled tightly at her before slipping into the front. "Good t' go, Pol."

Rogue: Rogue didn't even spare a glance at Lorna as she slid to the back of the group and scanned the area again, a concentrating frown creasing her brow, "From where, Polaris?"

Psylocke: Opening her eyes, Lizzie nodded. "You're not the only thinker, Polaris..."

Freakshow: "Hmm..." He grew a set of moth eyes and scanned the surroundings for...well, anything. Only had to make sure to not being drawn to...that...beautiful...shiny...light...over the-...He blinked the eyes away again. Is what I get for not practicing enough. Stupid!

Iceman: A man came around the side of the building, seemingly on a regular patrol as he didn't look too concerned about his surroundings. Immediately he stopped and whispered into his own headset. "Fuck!"

Polaris: "There!" Once Lorna saw him she tried to pull the headset away before he could get much of a warning out. Once it made it to her she broke it over her knee.

Psylocke: Springing forward a step, Lizzie let a psibolt fly towards him, while Polaris went for the headset.

Psylocke: Should stun him slightly if not knock him flat out...

Iceman: "I think they know we're here now..."

Polaris: "Okay, we can't wait for his buddies to come pouring out. Positions people, we're going in!" Lorna hovered off of the ground, half out of nerves and half on purpose and ripped the doors away.

Sabretooth: Vic froze at the swear word, tail slowly swinging side to side as he crouched slightly and breathed out. Here we go. He watched Liz and Lorna take care of the guy while he tried to pick up any scents, any sounds of unfamiliar heartbeats or anything that might warn them.

Sabretooth: Vic grinned and started forward as Lorna gave the order. "Oh yeah. Finally."

Polaris: Lorna touched the button on her headset. "Guard saw us. We're going in."

Gambit: He thumbed his com again. "Perimeter security is out. Dey are free t' move in."

Psylocke: Oh a drooler. That was pretty. Still, one less goon to deal with later. Turning, she took up the flanking position she'd been set. "Ready."

Rogue: Rogue nodded, "Ready."

Polaris: "Move!" Once the doors were away Lorna could already see people inside and the first few shots of tranqulizers whizzed by.

Sabretooth: Vic readied himself for - well, anything. He was the meat shield after all....just goddamn. He growled and ran forward, checking Alex was with him.

Freakshow: Oh great, we're not eve in and already everything is screwed up... He changed into his troll-form, but with the variation of a rhino head. Had helped the last time he had stormed a building, so maybe it would be useful now. He just made a huge leap through the now empty doorframe and stomped on the ground, sending slight shockwaves over it that created smaller and bigger cracks.

Freakshow: Maybe if he could draw attention to himself, Vic could get the bad guys fast and more easily?

Maggott: He switched over to Combat team, "Polaris, be advised that the doors are unlocked. Very little room for movement once inside. Infiltration team should be pulling out any moment."

Sabretooth: Vic laughed as Alex jumped over him, grunting as a dart caught him in the shoulder. Pulling it out, he tossed it aside, cracking the first guy he saw with an elbow.

Psylocke: "Crap!" Lizzie span to the side, wondering how the hell she could do this as they had all the width of the door covered. Maybe...Closing her eyes, she sent out a telepathic shockwave, just enough to make them all not shoot long enough for her to get inside.

Polaris: "Doors area already sort of ripped off their hinges, Maggott. I see it though." Lorna flew in, pulling the first few guards off of their feet.

Sabretooth: Alex was creating a lot of noise, attracting the guards, so he turned his attention to keeping people away from the others - by the simple method of punching them 'til they stayed down.

Psylocke: Well, worked long enough for her to get mostly in. And Vic was taking care of them anyway...

Iceman: Bobby jumped a little when something hit him in the chest. Looking down, he saw a dart sticking out of his uniform, unable to get through his ice. "They've got some kind of dart guns, watch out!" The man who'd shot him looked a little stunned now, so Bobby just sent a blast of ice to knock him away.

Freakshow: The first darts came flying at him up front, from three guys standing in front of him like frozen to the ground, completely in shock but trained to shoot before thinking. It didn't matter, as thick as his skin was now they would have needed needles the size of a pipe to knock him out.

Rogue: Rogue followed the group in, flying up to dodge the darts, keeping a wary eye behind the team as they started to take care of some of the guards.

Psylocke: "Seen that Iceman!" Lizzie yelled as she span, punching a psiblade through the head of a guard that was getting too close for her liking.

Polaris: "I'll do what I can about the darts!" Lorna already got to work at busting as many of the guns as she could, using them to bludgeon their guards.

Sabretooth: Vic pulled one guard off his feet, snarled in his face and flung him against a couple of his mates before pulling out another dart. Calm it. Won' help no one if yer feral. With that, he backhanded a tranq gun out of another guar'ds hand, grinned, and punched him. "Ooh yeah!"

Rogue: Rogue dropped to the ground as one of the guards aimed a tranq at her head, a shocked look apearing on his face as Lorna broke his gun and he started forward. "Oh no ya don't, lil man!" She dropped her body completely to the ground, doing a low spin kick to knock his feet out from under him.

Freakshow: The fact that the darts didn't send that monster in front of them sleeping was too much for them, they even stopped shooting. So Alex took them out one after the other by 'gently' flipping his indexfinger on their foreheads.

Psylocke: "Would be nice. I'm not exactly robust really..." Lizzie joked as she slid down on the floor, sweeping her legs around, kicking over a guard she was behind. Gotta love telepathy making them think she was someplace else.

Polaris: Despite herself, Lorna imagined Vic as the Kool Aid pitcher bursting through a wall at that moment. She swallowed her laugh as she landed behind one of the guards, taking his feet out from under him and grabbed his traq gun. "I think we can play at this game too."

Rogue: Rogue spun around to find a group of three guards running in the doors, "Crap! Y'all just nevah give up!" She punched the first one in the nose and held back the laugh as he stumbled, crying, and holding his bleeding face.

Sabretooth: "Thanks, I'll stick t' my fists." Vic grinned at Lorna, seeing her pick up a gun. He kicked a guy in the chest, sending him flying back into a buddy who then ended up shooting another in the ass. "Damn. I gotta have points fer tha'."

Freakshow: Okay, where did the guards come from? Probably from where they wanted to go to, so...ah, over there.

Rogue: She was fixing to go for the second when she felt something stick her in the back of her leg, "What?" She didn't have time to look down as she kicked the second in the side of the head, knocking him back into the third.

Freakshow: He headed head first in the direction of a steel door he had spotted, which just this moment had released another group of aarmed men into the room. Tough luck, he just went on, sending them flying to the sides.

Rogue: She pulled out the dart from her leg and frowned at it then walked over to the first guard and stuck it into his neck, "Nighty night, hun."

Polaris: Lorna fired her round of darts at a few of the oncoming guards, disappointed when she ran out. "Lots of points. Good style."

Iceman: Bobby encased another guard from the waist down in ice, taking his gun and whacking him upside the head with it. Noticing a side hall, he iced the entry completely, in case they were coming from there. That might be a good plan, and might stop anybody from coming up behind them.

Psylocke: Lizzie snagged a gun from a guard that was aiming for her projected image across the slowly being wrecked room. "Useful..."

Psylocke: Smacking him in the balls with it, she swung her leg up higher, kicking him in the chest. "But I prefer my own body..."

Polaris: "Good, Iceman!" Lorna caught herself, nearly calling Bobby Bobby as she ran for the next hall, slamming it's doors shut and moulded them shut.

Sabretooth: Vic spotted a guard aiming for Lorna and darted in front of him, catching the dart square in the arm. Both him and the guard looked down at it, then Vic looked up and grinned, before picking him up and headbutting him. "Ow."

Rogue: Rogue flew up into the air as the other two came at her, flying over them and kicking them both in the back of the head, then pushing the pressure points in their necks as she floated to the ground, "Sweet dreams." When they were out she tossed them over to the corner on top of their friend who was already good and 'asleep'.

Iceman: Bobby didn't have time to reply, but did see Vic take a dart for Lorna. "Go, Sabes!"

Polaris: Lorna just had time to flash Vic a smile as she skitted to a halt at the next hall. She was too late there, people were already coming in.

Freakshow: He slammed the door out of its frame and looked into...a tearoom?..."Shit..." Then he caught a glimpse of green out of the corner of his eye. "Wait Lo-...Polaris! I thought we should go first?!" Then he followed her hastily.

Iceman: Icing the doors had seemed like a good idea, until one of his ice shields shattered from some sort of energy blast. He barely caught sight of a large man with a larger gun.

Sabretooth: Vic dropped the blubbering guy, waiting for his eyes to uncross before pulling the dart out. "No problem." He muttered, letting it drop and following the others.

Rogue: Rogue heard Bobby's ice shield shatter and turned in shock, "What was that?!"

Polaris: Lorna found herself knocked off of her feet as a rather butch looking woman slapped her hands together. As soon as she was able to regain her feet she tried to throw up a shield against her so Lorna could concentrate on closing the hall off.

Psylocke: Oh shit. Concentrating on sending out random projected images, Lizzie dodged and dashed across the room towards the majority of the group, sending a bolt at the man....woman? Lorna was getting trouble from.

Sabretooth: Vic turned as he felt someone come behind him, and couldn't dodge the gunbutt that was laid across his head. He staggered back, feeling blood trickle from an already-healing cut on his forehead, before focusing on the guy who gave it to him. "That hurt, motherfucker!"

Freakshow: Oh, brilliant. Everything had started to seem manageable at last and now they had got...an Inuit and a woman with a death-clap, seemingly. My life is nuts.

Iceman: Bobby saw Lorna in trouble. "Shit!" He quickly froze the gun, noticing Rogue had taken an interest in the big guy too.

Sabretooth: He snarled, baring his fangs and lunging at the guy. Fuck this. His vision tunneled as he barreled into him, just about holding the instincts back enough to punch. "Fucker."

Psylocke: Sneaky little telepath go BOLT! Lizzie threw a particuarly loaded psibolt to the big guy. They fell harder with such asatisfying thump too, the big guys...And if he'd so much had touched Warren...

Iceman: The gun just glowed with energy for a moment and the ice blew away, along with another energy blast taking a chunk from the wall behind him. Bobby ducked and rolled coming up near Lorna.

Freakshow: Then he noticed a few guards trying to sneak up on his otherwisely occupied teammates. But before they could reach them, he managed to change his jaw into the mandibles of a spider (he really hated that trick...REALLY) and spit a sticky white fluid at them with such a speed, that they just got thrown off their feet and sticked to the ground.

Polaris: Lorna threw whatever was handy at the woman, figuring it was best not to let The Clapper get closer to her. Lorna's concentration was broken once there was a Bobby under her feet. "I think this just got a bit more difficult." She hastily reached down and pulled him to his feet.

Psylocke: The man was struck by the bolt and seemed momentarily dazed. Well. Big guy...She struck again, this time a lot harder.

Sabretooth: Vic felt something grab his tail and pull hard, and he turned to see another guard grin at him and go 'heeeere, kitty kitty.' He roared, kicking out and hitting the guy square in the balls. So much fer kids, sucker.

Rogue: Rogue flew up and towards the big guy, trying to avoid the energy blast, but getting hit in the neck with some debris from the wall, "Ouch!" She rubbed her neck as she came behind the guy and kneed him in the lower back. He barely staggered. "Oh shit."

Iceman: "You think? I think it's going well," he yelped, noticing the dude with the giant harpoon fun was leveling another shot at them. Rogue was in trouble now, and he couldn't do anything this far away.

Psylocke: "Open to suggestions, here!" Lizzie yelled as she vaulted over some debris, spinning over herself to avoid getting shit thrown at her. Getting killed wouldn't do the others any good.

Sabretooth: He took a second to straighten himself out, looking around the room. Well hell. Two new players....and a lotta guards. He reached down, picking up a gun and smiling vaguely before emptying the clip of darts into the nearest knot. "I'm comin', Psy!"

Polaris: Lorna's attention turned to the harpoon too as she noticed Bobby looking over at it. She did her best to rip up the harpoon, figuring she couldn't do much from where she was.

Psylocke: "I can hit him with all I have but I'll need cover! I can't make myself invisible and take out the Jolly Giant here!"

Freakshow: Noticing that Rogue was in trouble, he shouted out to her to leave it to him, but his reformed mouth just managed a very inhuman loud hiss. Anyways, he hurried over and stormed toward the guy, his hands growing bigger and bigger with each step. He'd just slam him into a wall, would take care of him.

Rogue: Rogue jumped to the side as the guy kept his aim, but tried to kick back at her. She grabbed his leg and snickered as the big man hopped about for a moment before pulling his leg down and nearly faceplanting Rogue into the floor.

Maggott: Japh made the connection to the combat team, "Polaris, what's your status?"

Sabretooth: Vic waded his way over to the guy with a stick, balling a fist. "Big bastard, aintcha? See how y' like someone like y'sel'."

Iceman: Harpoon looked up from burying Rogue and fired, but his shot went wild, hitting the ceiling above his and Lorna's heads.

Psylocke: Concentrateconcentrateconcentrate...Her butterfly aura glowed deep pink as she built up a huge...so much for cover but she had a nice metal sheet right there...blast of energy at the big guy, enough to knock him back.

Polaris: "I think we're fucked." Lorna's voice came over, the nervousness finally creeping in, and then the harpoon shot could be heard above her and Bobby.

Rogue: Rogue pushed herself up from the floor just in time to watch the ceiling collapse on Lorna and Bobby, "NO!"

Sabretooth: Vic pulled his fist back and let go the fine control he had on his strength, catching the guy in the chest as an almighty roar crashed through the room.

Psylocke: "NO! DAMN IT!" Lizzie yelled, forgetting herself for a moment. Her heart was in her mouth now as her mind raced over what had just happened...Oh nonono...

Sabretooth: He wasdistracted, turning in time to see the ceiling cave in on Bobby and Lorna. "FUCK no!!"

Freakshow: "I've got him Rogue!" He managed to grab the staggering Inuit and thrust him into the wall, nearly nailing him to it. But then the shit hit the fan right behind him, and the slight moment of distraction was enough for Harpoon to bring his weapon up between himself and the giant body of his attacker.

Psylocke: Sending one last psibolt at the man, she saw him blink, shake his head painfully. Almost out of it, or as good as.

Rogue: She turned to the guy with the gun, anger seeping through her as she punched him as hard as she could in the neck with one hand, and even harder in the stomach with the other. She watched him as he doubled over and turned back to look at the cave-in, her jaw clenched.

Freakshow: When Alex looked back to see what his opponent was wriggling about, he received a facefull of energy bolt at point black, which send him flying for a few metres.

Sabretooth: Vic roared, launching himself at the harpoon guy, punching him as hard as he possibly could in the face. "Fuck you!! Stay down, bitch!! Down!!"

Rogue: Rogue pulled Vic off of the guy after he had blood pouring out of his nose and his eyes were closed. "Sabre! He's down! Stop!"

Psylocke: "Sabertooth!" Lizzie yelled loudly over the chaos. "Don't lose it on us! I've put him down already!"

Maggott: Japh finally made a choice. It was difficult. "Combat team. Pull back. Mission is a failure. I repeat, pull back. Psylocke, you're team leader."

Sabretooth: Bobby and Lorna had to alright. Had to be. "Get off!!"

Psylocke: "He thinks he's back in the wilderness!" Shaking a little, she pressed the button on her comm. "Roger that Maggott, I'll get them out and have the jet fired."

Rogue: "Damnit! We can't leave them!" She ran over to the debris and tried to start pulling pieces away, "Iceman, Polaris! Can you hear me?!" Her eyes burned with angry tears.

Psylocke: "Pull BACK and no arguments!" Lizzie roared as she ran over to them. "We're ordered to get out and abort the mission!"

Sabretooth: Vic breathed heavily, jerking his wrist out of Rogue's grip. "What abou' them?!" He clenched his fists. Don'loseitdon'tloseit calm down...

Psylocke: Tears of rage were pricking her eyes...God nonono...

Psylocke: "We follow the orders, we have to get out now! Don't you dare argue with me, don't you think I'm not leaving anything here?"

Sabretooth: Vic steadied himself on the wall. Much as he hated it, they were right. "C'mon, Rogue." He said deadpan.

Freakshow: Changing back into his faster human body, he heavily rubbed his face, careful to not touch his...OUCH! probably broken nose. Then he hurried towards Lizzie. "A-...Are you sure? I still can go!"

Rogue: Rogue stood up and walked as calmly as she could away from the wreckage of the hall, "Fine."

Psylocke: "Freakshow, I want to go on as much as you do but right now we can't! We'll all end up locked in here - we go now while we have the chance."

Sabretooth: He looked down at the unconcious haropoon guy, giving him one last savage kick before looking blankly at the rubble. "Sorry Bobby...." He turned and jogged after Rogue.

Psylocke: She ran out of the hall. No time to just dawdle, no time to make herself change her mind and go back, hadto get back on the jet..

Rogue: Rogue started randomly kicking and punching some of the guards who were already down as she left the room, "Assholes. All of them."

Psylocke: Switching her comm back on she cleared her throat. "I'm with Freakshow, Sabes and Rogue, heading back to the jet, we'll be there in threeminutes. What's the status of the other team?"

Freakshow: "...Okay..." He was the last one to leave, and he could already hear heavy footsteps on the ground, closing in. It was probably better to retreat.

Freakshow: I'm so sorry Meggie...

Sabretooth: Vic caught up with Rogue. "Leave 'em." He said blankly. "C'mon. We'll go get pissed as fuck."

Psylocke: This was going to fucking hell! They'd lost more people. Choking up as she thought about it, she felt out for Warren again and still, nothing there..."Light a fire under it! I need to prep the jet before we can get the hell out! The sooner we go the sooner we get back and kick arse."

Sabretooth: They have t' be okay. They ain' dead. We ain' leavin' 'em behin'. "Yes m'm." Vic picked up the pace. The more distance between him and that place the better.

Maggott: Japh then switched back to the combat team. "Psylocke. Infiltration has been informed on mission status. Waiting for their reply."

Rogue: Rogue felt the hot tears finally grace her cheeks at Vic's words, flying ahead of them to get to the jet.

Psylocke: "We're nearly out now, I'll have the jet ready to go," she answered, giving Vic a greatful smile over her shoulder.

Sabretooth: Vic couldn't return the smile as he jogged, claws digging into his palms. Remy had better be good for some serious, serious drinking when they got back....

Rogue: For some reason, Rogue felt like being 'emo' for a bit. Maybe Rae could lend her some music. She paused when she got too far ahead and waited for them to get closer so she wouldn't be alone, even though, as angry as she was, she could probably kill somebody right now.

Psylocke: Nearing the jet, she deactivated the cloak on her 'keyring' for it, lowering the ramp. Turning around, she watched to make sure there was a clean run from the building to the jet, then went to fire the engines up, breathing hard, refusing to cry...She couldn't break down. Not now.

Sabretooth: Vic reached the jet, getting in wearily and strapping into one of the seats. This....was fucked. So fucked.

Rogue: Rogue went up the ramp slowly, watching the building over her shoulder, her hands tight in fists. "Damnit," she muttered under her breath, "damnit, damnit, damnit!" She sat the seat next to Vic and strapped herself in, reaching out for his hand.

Sabretooth: Vic wrapped his fingers around Rogue's, needing the comfort about as much as she seemed to, eyes fixed on the building in front of them. "I know."

Psylocke: She hoped that the other team had done better...She leant her head in her hands, elbows propped over the board. Now they wait for the others...

Freakshow: Alex just followed them with a droped head and a bleeding nose, only to silently sit down into a seat a bit away from the others. He wanted to be left alone now...

Rogue: She squeezed tight as she tried to keep her breathing at a steady pace, "Not fair."

Sabretooth: "Liz....we'll come back, ya know? We'll get 'em back. Rem won' let this lie. Y' up fer some serious drinkin' when we get back?"

Psylocke: She looked over her shoulder. "I can't drink. Remember?"

Sabretooth: Vic blinked. "Oh yeah. Fuck."

Rogue: "How about chocolate. Ah know ya good f' that."

Psylocke: Turning away, she looked out of the window for anyone else that was left, a deep, sinking feeling in her stomach. "No amount of chocolate is going to help either...I just want Warren back..."

Sabretooth: Vic looked at Rogue and squeezed her hand. She was trying not to cry. "It'll be okay, doll. It will. Hasta be, righ'?"

Psylocke: "And Bobby, and Lorna and everyone else. Why? We trained so bloody hard for this and they still knock us back and then we lose even more of our friends..."

Sabretooth: How could they have failed? They hadn't failed. Just the combat team got overwhelmed. Yeah. Any minute now, Remy would run out with everyone, Bobby and Lorna would be okay 'coz Rem would blow them out, right?

Rogue: Rogue smiled at Vic as much as she could, "'Swat Ah said 'fore we came here. 'Swat Ah say now." She reachd forward and put a hand on Lizzie's shoulder, "We'll get 'em home," her voice sounded more like she was trying to convince herself more than anyone else at this point.

Sabretooth: "Ev- what d' ya mean, everyone else, Liz?"

Psylocke: "Andreas, Scott, Kyle, Jackie and Meggan of course."

Sabretooth: Vic closed his eyes. For a moment he thought she'd meant more of their friends.
Psylocke: "Unless...Unless infiltration did it?" she looked over her seat at them. "I just...I have one of my 'feelings'. I don't know..."

Psylocke: "They might still have done it even though we didn't?"

Sabretooth: "Where the hell are they?" He muttered, looking out the window again. "Heh, maybe. Jus' 'cause we didn' manage t' get through, don' mean they didn', righ'?"

Rogue: Rogue nodded, "Yeah... yeah, Ah bet they did.." She gave Lizzie the same small, forced smile that Vic had gotten.

Psylocke: "Mag? You got an update for us?" Lizzie breathed shakily into the comm, her finger on the button trembling. "When are we expecting the infiltration teamback here?"

Rogue: Rogue looked over her shoulder at Alex and gave him a small smile, "We'll get her, sugah. Don't worry. Ah promise you."

Freakshow: "Yeah..." Because everything always ends well, right?

Rogue: Rogue turned back around and looked down at her lap. She wanted to feel something other than anger and loss. She wished she were drunk.

Sabretooth: Vic found himself staring at his and Rogue's joined hands. All he wanted was to curl up with Rahne, but he couldn't do that - she was back in Scotland. He squeezed Rogue's hand. "Goddamn..."

Rogue: Rogue squeezed back, "They're fine, right? Remy'll find 'em, right?" She choked back the tears that were trying to fall again.

Psylocke: Not liking the lack of silence on the other end of the radio, she got back up and went to the open ramp of the jet, standing in wait for the others. Godhaveeveryone...

Psylocke: Dragging her toe across the edge of the ramp, she was sorely tempted to just run off back in there. She could make it. Just about. It would be better than waiting and not knowing. Sighing heavily, she wiped a stray tear from the corner of one of her eyes.

Rogue: Rogue undid her seatbelt and gave Vic another squeeze before walking over to Lizzie, "They're not coming... Are they?"

Psylocke: C'mon Japh...Answer...

Sabretooth: Vic looked at Lizzie, then back at Rogue. He swallowed, closing his eyes. "....I....don' think they're comin'...."

Psylocke: "We wait until we have word from Japh...Then we can say that."

Freakshow: Alex looked up, finally. Was it true? Were they...the only ones left? Damn it...

Rogue: She nodded and looked out at the building, hoping to see them all come running out.

Maggott: Japh glanced at the monitor for the GPS. He grabbed the radio. "Psylocke, be advised that Gambit and Phoenix is will not be joining you. Infiltration team will be there shortly."

Psylocke: "Understood, Maggot..." Lizzie swallowed hard and turned around, walking back to the pilots seat, dazed.

Sabretooth: "Liz? Y' got word?"

Rogue: Rogue followed Lizzie with her head, "What?"

Psylocke: "Everyone strap in...We'll be going in a sec." A fat tear rolled down her face. "Remy and Rae...They...Not coming."

Sabretooth: Vic froze. "Wait. What?" He said deceptively quietly.

Freakshow: He looked over to Lizzie, and when she finally said that two of them were missing too...it just was too much. He just turned around and started to brood silently.

Psylocke: "Don't make me say it again, Vic...Please."

Rogue: Rogue shook her head fast and furious, "No... no no no..." She ran her hands through her hair and let the tears fall again as she spotted Kitty and Cessily running quickly towards them, "Kitty an' Cess are comin'... An' they're not alone.." Two other mutants were at their tails.

Rogue: Rogue ran over and strapped herself back down in her seat next to Vic and took his hand again, using the other to squeeze his arm.

Psylocke: "We'll come back. Nothing will stop us next time."

Sabretooth: Vic looked away. His mind just went blank, almost as if it had shut down, and his vision tunneled again. He wasn't aware of anything around him - or his claws sliding out.

Interlude: Lorna and Bobby

Lorna: "Bobby?" Lorna ran over to Bobby and grabbed his arm, hurrying further down the hallway. She didn't like the sound of the rumbling overhead. It wasn't the option she wanted to take but she assumed that the smaller area would be more stable.

Bobby: "What're you doing?" He followed her, but looked over his shoulder at the others, still involved in their own battles. "You get Japh on the horn?"

Bobby: The explosion rocked the building, and it was all he could do to put up an ice shield to block the worst of the debris raining down behind them.

Lorna: Lorna was trying very much to get him on the horn when the ceiling gave way and she staggered, her headset going flying. "Japh! Shit." Lorna scrambled for the headset.

Lorna: Lorna reached for her headset to find it in pieces. "Shit."

Bobby: "I'll third that," he said as the dust cleared. The wall and part of the ceiling had completely collapsed, blocking them off from the rest of the team. "Is there enough metal in that crap for you to move it? I might be able-"

Bobby: The sound of pounding feet grew from around the corner.

Lorna: Lorna was about to answer the positive when Bobby drifted off and the footfalls got louder. "Is your headset working?" Lorna looked around at the few bits of rubble that had fallen on their side of Bobby's ice wall, trying to decide if she could box them in.

Bobby: "It's still fucked up - I think Forge is slipping in his old age." Another blast shook the building and he reinforced the ice wall propping up their hall.

Lorna: Lorna ran forward, flinging metal rubble at whoever rounded the corner. There wasn't anything for it. They couldn't make contact.

Bobby: "Jesus, Dee, be careful!" Reasonably sure the ice wall would hold, he started after her, but was tackled as soon as he rounded the corner.

Lorna: Lorna clubbed the nearest person and she slumped to the floor. Lorna had been hoping to find doors hopefully leading back to the main room but she was disappointed to see just a hallway. "You too." Lorna said before she realized she was being lunged at.

Bobby: The guy had caught him off balance and they hit the floor. Bobby tried to throw him off, but an electric jolt ran through him, startling him. That's new.

Lorna: Lorna sidestepped the woman lunging at her, moving to grab her into a sleephold.

Lorna: A few things happened all at once. The body hurtling by Lorna went limp once Lorna's hands were on her and there was an audible snap. Lorna was more shocked at the feeling that hit her, something like cold needles falling through her. She stumbled back, the body hitting the floor at her feet.

Bobby: Bobby shook his head to clear it and dropped the guy's temperature enough to knock him out and scrambling to his feet. He kicked the wicked looking taser away and looked up just in time to see Lorna staggering. "Are you okay?"

Lorna: Lorna didn't answer, just stared at the body at her feet as if trying to get her bearings. She heard Bobby but he just sounded far away. Her body turned to face him but she didn't remember wanting to.

Lorna: Malice looked over her old body. Well that was easily dispatched with at least. As she turned to face the other enemy she looked down at her new hands which were trembling. She quickly stopped that.

Bobby: "Lorna?" Bobby quickly looked around the corridor. They were alone for the time being, so he de-iced and fiddled with his headset on his way to her. She turned and looked at him blankly and he frowned, concerned.

Bobby: "Is she...?" He looked down at the unmoving body, toeing her arm. Its head was at an unnatural angle "Oh. I mean, accidents happen, it's okay....um, maybe I can get this radio working..."

Lorna: Malice looked over at Bobby, very amused at the 'accidents happen' comment. She made her new body walk towards Bobby, donning what she hoped was this Lorna's frightened little girl expression. "Let me see it?"

Bobby: Bobby sighed a little at her expression, not sure what to say. "Sure, here," he said, taking it off and holding it out to her. "Let's get Japh back on the line and get the fuck out."

Lorna: Malice made to reach out for the headset but instead used her new body to send Bobby crashing into the wall behind him.

Bobby: Completely caught off guard, his head cracked against the wall, darkening his vision.

Lorna: Malice looked at him funny. She had been meaning to switch bodies and carry the lighter girl. She found it disconcerting that that hadn't happened and looked at the hand that she had used to push him back, confused.

Lorna: Lorna was in a panic. She was standing there but she was doing nothing her body was doing. She panicked more when she saw Bobby sliding to the floor. Who the hell are you!

Lorna: Malice smiled, deciding to work out what had happened later. Perhaps her boss would know. "I'm sure we'll get acquainted well enough later. Now we're going to drag him to the back."

Interlude: Remy

Once he’d left the team it had been a challenge to make his way this far in, making him very thankful that he’d ran as many sims in the danger room as he had. This operation was well funded. New systems and the deeper in he got the better they were. This latest door was the worst yet. Of course that meant he’d probably found what he was looking for.

He worked quickly, splicing the last wires together, hoping that did the trick as he manoeuvred the bundle that he’d hauled out of the disabled panel back half into the wall so that he could access the controls.
Readying himself for flight just in case it wasn’t properly disarmed, he pressed a button. The door lock flicked open with an audible click and he sighed with relief, poking his head through it. Bingo. Crowded in the small room were several file cabinets and also a computer on a plain wooden desk. Utilitarian, as much of this place was, but that didn’t matter. All he had to do was make sure that it was what he wanted.

He picked the lock on the first cabinet, but didn’t find much other than financial forms and that sort of mundane thing. The second’s top drawer yielded medical charts, but they were all names that he didn’t recognise. He flipped one open, and riffled through it. Written in neat red pen on the last form was ‘deceased’. Frowning, he flipped open the next one, and then another. His blood ran a bit cold – they all had the same neat note.

Double checking to make sure none of them belonged to the students, he went to the next drawer down.
The first name seemed naggingly familiar, but he skipped past it, not having the time to figure it out. The third one in belonged to ‘Jackie Gavin’ but had some weird picture of a guy on it. He plucked out anyways, slipping his back pack off and stuffing it in, quickly locating the others and doing the same for them. Now at least he had information on anything that had happened to them, which he was hopeful the medical team would find useful in helping them.

He paused for a minute, looking at his watch. Not a lot of time left, but he decided he had time to open the last drawer before blowing the joint. Any info on this wacko that they could get would be good. One name jumped out at him right away, and he frowned in confusion before slowly pulling it out. Oh merde. He had the medical files. No wonder he’d known about the school and what the weaknesses they had and known how to take the students down. The pieces clicked into place quickly. He cradled his son’s file to his chest while he flicked through the others. His own, Talia’s, nearly everyone’s file was there.

He backed away, shoving Johnny’s file in with the rest. He didn’t want to destroy it – but he couldn’t take everyone’s file out on his back. They’d just have to be destroyed with the rest. Slipping a full pack out of his pocket, he readied it. He wasn’t about to take any chances here. He barely heard the door, it more being the shift of displacing air that alerted him a second before the voice came.

“Please put those down, Mr. LeBeau. I’d hate for there to be any mess in here.”

He froze but kept his hand on the cards, turning partially, ill impressed with the pale man before him that held a dart gun on him. The man didn’t look like much of anything, yet he had a way of holding himself that showed his confidence with the situation.

“Y’ may know my name but y’ don’ know much about me d’ y’?” He grinned, making it as wide and cocky as he could, his eyes hard. “Shoot me wit’ dat an’ I’ll drop dem. Only dey’ll be pink before d’ drugs take effect.”

“Oh, I know more than you’d think, Mr. LeBeau. For example, you aren’t suicidal in the least. That move would certainly cost you more than it would me.” The words were delivered in an almost bored tone that didn’t bode well. “On top of that, I highly doubt you’d be willing to deprive your child of a father.”

His eyes narrowed, and he turned his body slightly, charging a couple of the cards. “An’ what d’ y’ think is stoppin’ me from blowin’ y’ up den?”

“Because only I know how to reverse some of the...” The man paused a moment, searching for a word. “...changes that your compatriots have experienced. I believe that your cousin is one of my subjects.

On top of that, you’d bring every security person in this place down on your head. And it isn’t like I’m working alone in this Mr. LeBeau. Nor are these files the only copy of them in existence.” He nodded to the one half open drawer. “Found the one of your son yet? Quite the interesting subject matter that one.”
He hissed an angry breath out between clenched teeth, the cards flaring brighter. “Va te faire!”

The man ignored his insult, continuing as if he wasn’t interrupted. “Third generation mutant on one side, second on the other. Do you have any idea of how rare those are? To be able to study how it has passed down. Let’s just say it’s a researcher’s dream.” He felt the man’s cold eyes studying him almost as if it was a touch. “Of course, they say that one bird in the hand is worth two in the bush. We can fight this out and I risk getting injured or killed. You risk the same, or being captured regardless. Or, in exchange for my assurances to keep your son out of this place, you can simply surrender now and stay as my guest, and we both get what we want.”

It felt like his world crashed to a sudden stop. But these people had already captured several of their people...what was to stop them from doing the same with Johnny? He couldn’t keep him under lock and key his entire life. And the words made chilling sense. He didn’t know of any other third generation mutant, where the line hadn’t been skipped a generation, like with Rahne. He bit the inside of his lip until it bled. There simply wasn’t another choice he could make.

“Talia too.” His voice was low, broken. “Y’ keep her outta dis.”

“Of course. It wouldn’t do for the boy to be separated from his mother. Really, you have to consider yourself as getting the better of the deal here Mr. LeBeau. They both have a lot to offer.”

He gave the man a chilling look. If there was one person that he could gladly take apart at the seams, this would be one.

“Come along then.” He waved the dart gun at him. “I’d like to get things secure again. I believe your friends may be finding they bit off a bit more than they could chew.”

He knew. He’d heard it all over his com. It had all factored into his choice, after all. He lifted his hand to the button one last time. “Evacuate. Repeat. Get y’ asses outta here now.” He removed the earpiece and dropped it on the floor, crushing it under his boot.

De-charging the cards, he let them slip through numb fingers. He was nearly out the door when in one fluid movement he slipped the backpack off and charged it, tossing it into the corner of the room. Neither of them could make it more than a step before the resulting blast swept them off their feet, hurling them into the far wall and peppering them with shrapnel. He was behind the man, so took most the blast, thankful that the uniform had the Kevlar. As it was, a cut to his scalp was bleeding rather freely down into his headgear and ear. He tipped his head and shook it out, grimacing a bit as he watched the man push himself up. Only the smallest hint of anger showed as his nostrils flared. “I thought we had a deal Mr. LeBeau.”

“We do. I’m still here, neh? Y’ didn’t say anythin’ about d’ room. I’m not one t’ leave a job undone.”

A tight lipped smile split the man’s face. “Neither am I, Mr. LeBeau. Neither am I.”

[/i]Interlude: Rachel[/i]

rachel: Rachel slipped through the air duct as carefully and quickly as she could without making too much noise. She glanced ahead at Kitty and Cess, making sure they were still there.

Exodus: Paris paused on his way past the hall, taking a first look with his eyes and a second with his thoughts, reaching. The main melee was behind him, but he had come to check for stragglers. This end of the complex had been disappointingly empty. At first glance.

rachel: Rachel bit down on her lip as the duct exploded and she fell. Screaming would be bad, and give away where they were, or just her now. Okay. How do I land without breaking my neck? Oh right. Rachel focused on slowing the fall with her teke, but hitting the floor still didn't feel all that great.

Exodus: There was... something down that hall, a slight distortion of shielded thoughts. An explosion rocked the building, and along with it came a clatter. A girl fell from shattered ceiling grating, and he felt the pull of another's telekinesis from her.

rachel: She stared at where she'd fallen from for a moment before realizing that lying on the floor probably wasn't the best idea. She rolled over and pushed herself up, staring wide-eyed at the guy, "Fuck," she muttered.

Exodus: The girl scrambled to her feet and Paris held out a hand, sending a blast of teke until he could get closer. She had nowhere to go, and he psi scanned the ceiling for more minds, unable to tell what he was sensing.

rachel: Rachel let out another string of curses under her breath as she stumbled once she'd made it to her feet. She sent out a blast of her own, hoping she could find some way to get past him and out of here.

Exodus: He'd deal with them later. Now, he shielded himself from her blast. She was powerful however, and he smiled before he held out his hand to her, palm out.

Exodus: Paris clenched his fist, raising her into the air as he walked toward her. "There is no point to this. Surrender."

rachel: Struggling as she was lifted off the ground, she scowled at him, "No." Okay, teke wasn't working. She reached put with her telepathy but only hit shields. Damnit. She was so screwed.

Exodus: "Stubborn. I like you already." He drained some of her power, opening his hand and making an idle motion to turn her in mid-air. Excellent.

rachel: Liked her? How exactly was she supposed to take that? The thought that came to mind was ew. Rachel blinked. Something was off with her, and she was pretty sure he had something to do with it.

Exodus: Another explosion sounded from the other side of the building, distracting him from his sport. There would be time for fun later.

Exodus: "Welcome to the family," he smiled, reaching into her mind with ease and taking her consciousness. She slumped, and he brought her to him, scooping her up in his arms.

Thank god Tessa is having nothing to do with any of this. :P

Really, really, really awesome game. It's been a complicated plot with many players involved, and it went so smoothly. Everyone did such a fantastic job. :)

Technically, shouldn't that have come out of his butt? Like with real spiders. :P

If you read up she referred to him in a previous line, then added everyone else ;)
